17:07 if the monk works the same way as the original NES version, then you could've gotten another 50% defence boost above what you have there by unequipping all your armour. In the nes version it was bugged, and wouldn't update until you equipped and unequipped a piece of armour.

Game blows... I can understand if the story is non existent maybe the gameplay is fun, you know maybe you can make your own story... But when the gameplay ISNT fun even with special assist options what's the point of doing anything? Swear this games hella punishing at points...

Wrong there is a platform difference and bonus content. The gameplay balance is COMPLETELY different than the ps2 original amd if you have a save of the first 4 dot hacks, your player name will appear on azure kite in a boss fight.

Always wondered how Vaan and Penelo were fighting judges in canon. Now I know! Tidus in FFX was also untrained, but at least he's supposed to be some super-athlete in-universe. FF12 just didn't make sense

Does Fighter, Thief, Monk, and White Mage sound like a good or bad group? Would replacing the White mage with a red mage be better? Why?

Looks like your rules technically allow for using Teleport for instant kills, Life against undead, and Holy for magic damage. Although I guess that's not really in the "spirit" of the challenge which seemed plenty easy anyway (for the most part). Oddly enough, forbidding shields is a bigger challenge than most might assume, since your evade% determines your agility gains, which feeds back into your evade%. And high evade makes a huge difference against those physical attacks that drain health.

In OG FF 1 a monk could 1 shot Chaos.

Since you already did it with thieves if you do it with any of the objectively better classes maybe try other restrictions like none of the equipment you can use to cast spells. I don't think i'm ever going to play the pixel remasters of any final fantasies since none of them appear to be the definitive versions. The 20th anniversary psp version of FF1 seems much better. I'm certain most of the optional bosses in that edition of the game are impossible in this challenge anyway but aside from some attack animations and the battle backgrounds it even looks a lot nicer and has the new mp system. if you grind enough as the monk it will be easier than the warrior/fighter and the thief. His attack without weapons is his level x2 so at max its 198. His defense without armor is = to his level so at max its 99. Idk the difference between monk and master other than master is worse in the original version due to having lower magic defense growth.

Finally somebody who acknowledges FFX-2. Literally the best job system i've ever played. Compared to FFV they made the physical jobs actually interesting and have more moves. One small cheat you can do is to turn the enemy speed down. Fact check me on this one since i'm not 100% sure but i believe in the pixel remaster if you set the battle speed to 6 it doesn't actually impact your atb speed at all. All it does is make the enemies attack much slower. If its not already on 6 you can crank it all the way up and see if that makes it possible. As an alternative if you ever do any other challenge runs that are slightly easier put the battle speed down to 1 to make enemies attack as fast as possible. I got recommended this video by youtube since i recently beat final fantasy V and watched some videos on it. I doubt i would've seen it had i not been watching FFV videos already.

Astaroth and the final Emperor were my favorite Final Fantasy boss fights in the history of Final Fantasy. They subverted the trope you need to be max HP max damage to be able to destroy the final boss. In this case, when undergeared and underleveled, the bosses forced me to think creatively. It gave me so much satisfaction figuring it out which I hadn't felt in a long time. Keep in mind, I've played the Pixel Remaster. Also keep in mind, they took many risks and they could've went bankrupt if subsequent entries didn't remotely succeed. It sucked this game got so much hated on when, in reality, all it did was experimenting with mechanics. The leveling system was unique too. Come on, it may be different, but don't critisize it for what it tried to be.

I feel like the missing part of this runs is the gauntlet that give you saber for free for each of the monk (boosting them punches to the max)

50 hours? Sounds like you only did Act 1 out of 3...

This is easily my favorite DQ game, though i admit i haven't played all of them. I definitely liked this better than 8. My only complaint about the series is that they all use the same music over and over again. I would love to see, or hear rather, them change the music up.

So....not to be "that guy" but back in my day, FFI only had potions. No hi-potions, x-potions, etc. And you could only carry like 32 items or something ridiculously small (99 of a single item was the talk of fever dreams and madmen). Also, I'm pretty sure you had to equip the items before battle so each character only had maybe 2 potions max or 1 potion 1 revive in any given battle. (That might have just been FF2 on the PS1, it's been a while) This run is super impressive, don't get me wrong, but I'm thinking it'd be near impossible to do this on the NES or PS1.

The biggest mistake you made in this run was not using Erik he’s by far the best character in the game

The bosses in FFII have insanely low MP pools. An Osmose VI will drain all bosses immediately, and is the biggest cheese move…

I accidentally did the Tropical Island wayyy early on my first completed run… made a huge chunk of the game a breeze as a result.

play the original, its alot harder.

They are the only class that gets weaker when they have the upgrade.

It is actually a pretty decent party. You can spam magic on large groups.
