The phrase "might never be broken" is notorious for being very accurate every time it is said in the speedrunning community!
As someone who’s been watching Black ops 3 zombies speed runs that “might never be broken” only to be broken less than a week later… yea
Can't wait for the summoning salt "The Quest to Beat PokeGuy" 2 years from now
Grogir was the first ever to exit silph bar with a shot at WR (and that only if he went for super risky E4 with around 15% to survive) and he thinks it is extremely unlikely he will ever be on that pace again. The main reason it wont be broken is probably competiton. Only Grogir and Yuji have a shot at it and both want to stop after 1:44 and dont plan on going for WR
@@SLNNEDGother runners will rise. it will probably take a few years but someday someone will beat it.
True but few of those games are as old as Pokemon red, and those categories usually aren't glitchless either.
This is a really sick video, really cool seeing you jump to another facet of Pokemon aside from the nuzlocke challenges and it still be just as entertaining and informative.
Yo
Oh hey its the guy that complained about gen 7 being long and boring while using stall in every totem battle and kahuna
@@SERMareep2007 did it occur to you, that this might be a chicken and egg question? Maybe he disliked it because he had to use stall?
@@SERMareep2007cry about it
@@Matt_Zoran Not an excuse. He didnt use stall in the ultra games.
19:42 aint no way he just pulled a serendipitous
bro thinks he's vsauce
😭😭😭
The script writing is great on this. Well done PC
his scripted speech is really good too. Used to be a little stiff but he's really grown into it
@@Alwayz114his feud with alpharad really paid off
i mean it's alright, it's better than before but it's not that special either. i think people only like pointing it out because he's mentioned how he thinks his scripts weren't that good in the past and he has improved a little since then lmao
@@highdefinition450 My thoughts exactly. It just seems so effortful and it feels like a 8th grader is narrating a play, and the script is what you might submit for an english essay, not a youtube video. I don't know whether people really find this sad attempt at creating a story entertaining but I just cringe at it. "With that, red bar is all but locked in for the elite 4". Dude, just submit your script to your 10th grade english teacher, don't make a youtube video using it. Idk if its the narration thats just so ass or the script but it definitely isn't praise worthy and probably the weakest part of his videos. His humour isn't like alpharad's (not saying its bad, I really enjoyed his pre-alpharad vids) and this narration definitely ain't it. But that's just my opinion.
I mean holy fuck look at the other comments, they are literally either cocksucking or critiquing his script and narration because its obvious how hard he is trying to pull it off, you never see so many comments about it on any video with actual good script and narration, three of four at most but over here, every comment gives off the vibe "Keep up the good work kid, you'll eventually get better."
@@hellogoogle1018you're WAY too mad about this dude. If you hate it so much then just don't watch. Tf do you get out of making fun of his scripts?
As you said, he knows scripts are his weak point. You're not adding anything by making your own essau on why it's bad. Also like it doesn't even sound that bad? It's just narrating what happened, it's not doing the typical UA-cam thing of making a crazy story with a wacky tone of voice.
Again, what do you even get out of making fun of a dude who's trying to improve? That's cringe if anything.
One thing i would have LOVED to see it's the cumulative % chance of bad things NOT happening to better understand the actual unlikeliness of the run
2800 attempts is just insane at this point. And I thought 151 attempts were crazy. Mad respect
PC’s 151 attempts are still probably more impressive from a time perspective, since he would spend countless hours on each attempt while the 2800 attempts are probably around an hour each on average, but 2800 is way more impressive just from how many times he would have to lose and retry
@ttvphoenix1079 70% of attempts die before 12 minutes according to Pokeguy, meaning he's only gonna be averaging approximately around 17 minutes, which isn't as bad, however it's still a lot of time spent just resetting.
Gotta attempt 'em all!
Profoundly Sissyphusian
@@FennelRPG "YT comments are all stupid as fuck" he wrote in his UA-cam comment 💀
13:24 Pokeguy is so real for breaking his headphones and putting them back on
As amazing as it is, some how, in a few years to come we will witness another record being broken and it will stun the community again. Thus is the nature of Speedrunning.
huh.. that's a good point. In a way, speedrunning is a microcosm of human ingenuity when faced with the impossible; what once seemed truly impossible eventually becomes routine :)
Depends, every once in a while a record will come up that can only be broken by finding new ways to play the game because the route will be optimized to the nth degree
Ohh grandpa, tell us another story please 🙏🥺. Last one before bed ???
@@ThyN00bly or somebody being INSANELY lucky, so incredibly lucky that nobody can beat it without being even more lucky...
Not really. This tends to be for newer games or glitch categories. There's plenty of old games with old ass WRs
Happy to see Jan lean more towards the challenges aspect of Pokémon challenges
A nuzlocke is a challenge 😐
@@jorgeperez2872 u right, it’s a challenge. It’s the only challenge bro covers on the channel. Speedrunning is also a challenge. Therefore, he’s now covering Pokémon challenge(s). Could I word it better? Prolly. Does it matter? To you I guess it does. Hope this clears things up
@@jorgeperez2872 op is right Jan is basically only Pokemon Challenge rn but with this video he might eventually be Challenge(s)
im so tired and i didnt even recognise that this is jan
i thought it was just some random youtuber ive never watched before lol
@@symbiote6526Most of those other challenge vids were when his channel was growing a few years ago. Bro reacted to smallant’s no hit platinum run because that would get him views and then started working on his own nuzlocke content when he knew it was worthwhile content. You can keep cherry picking all of the other challenge runs he’s covered, but you can’t deny he mainly does nuzlocke runs. I just think it’s cool when he covers other challenge(s).
Speedrun Explanation videos are the best content on youtube hands down. Bit of synthwave and some chill voice telling me how some guy took 0.001 second of another guy and why its litraly almost impossible to do 10/10
I remember 4 years back, Exarion said that he was done trying to WR. Citing the bike shop glitch among many others that made it more RNG fish-y then it ever was.
Then PokeGuy came along and squeezed a little more juice out of Red and some of the other runs. Pretty crazy if you know how good of a player Exarion is.
that x special strat on gyarados amazed me even more than when i saw for the first time the planned death on Koga's Selfdestruct - revive with candy in red bar combo :)
I REALLY like those kind of videos. I'm not into speedrunning but getting those interesting information from a youtuber I enjoy makes it much more interesting.
agreed
I'm watching this because of watching too many Werster videos
I'm always down to watch an hour long documentary about random speed runs.
This is about a game I enjoy, so even more cool to watch!
This almost looked like one of Summoning Salt's videos but both of you had your own unique way of story telling. It's a good video either way. Nice switch of content.
It's insane how far pokemon speedrunning has come, can't wait to see the new heights that will be reached.
Honestly glad he's branching out to different content, hope it helps with his script writing
I loved this video. The editing, the script, the story, the cameo, and the music, everything was on point. It's also lowkey fitting listening to you talk about another pokemon challenge type.
Love that you're branching out in your content PC! You've got the style to suit these mini-documentary style vids, can't wait to see more.
Love seeing these scripted analysis type of vids you've been doing, very pog, keep it up Mr. Chal
Agreed!😊
Yea my dude these are great!
Interesting to see you here mister poketuber guy
Oh hi Gappy
OBAMNA
Dont get me wrong, I am thoroughly enamored with the content you usually do, but this shit is a clean banger. Hope to see SO MANY more of these types of vids from you. Really enjoying them
And his name… was Matt Turk
🥊
Great video covering a legendary runner! It's hard to overstate how insane this run is.
Love your commentary video
Good commentary, I like it whenever you spice things up on your channel. As long as you keep doing what you do best, I definitely wouldn't mind seeing you branch out into different types of videos more often.
love the style, love that we can finally hear your outside voice, and love the integration of the short interviews. not what i was expecting from this channel, but a welcome change nonetheless.
I love this documentary style vid! EXCELLENT music choices too! Keep up the amazing work Jan!
Really digging the more historic/interview type of video. Adds more delicious flavour to seeing these runs.
I think this might be the best video you have uploaded, both from a narration and editing standpoint. I counted one minor mistake with a repeat line but that is dwarfed by the quality that oozes through the rest of it. Very well done.
My favorite video from you this year, the work shows, and I'm happy you explained this run to a wider audience, nice one man
The character development and video quality has improved so much over these last 2 years
this is awesome dawg !! it's nice to see you delve into another side of pokemon rather than just nuzlockes, esp since it's still entertaining & interesting
I like this new type of content! The script is great and I always love speedrun analysis. Your insight on pokemon is always very unique and in depth and that translates well to these types of videos.
These are the sort of vids I miss that Gunner and Werster used to do
The chill DKC background music is both a blast of nostalgia and much appreciated!
Great video! Definitely appreciate your breakdown of a different kind of challenge
super cool to see pokemon speedrun content get more play on youtube!
fantastic video, great pacing, gen 1 speedruns have always been fun to watch even as many times as they have been done, the insane use of red bar really made this
I would love to see more videos like this! The nuzlockes are irreplaceable of course but this style of video is a really nice change of pace
Keep them coming Mr challenges!
Awesome to see somthing outside of just your nuzlock niche. You really have the voice/vibe for things like this! Keep it up :D
I really like this style of video. As big of a Pokemon fan as I am, this taught me a lot about the inner mechanics of gen 1 as well as speedrunning strategies. Also really loved the style of music featured (Kirby Air Ride, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, and Ace Attorney to name a few) and it fit well!
That manscaped sponsored segment was absolutely amazing.
It brought tears to my eyes. so emotional.
This is a great video, hoping to have more breakdowns of other people’s challenges soon!
First time i've seen Speedrun content on your channel. Really cool to see. Would be nice to see more in the future. This was cool.
Wasn't expecting PC Jan to start doing commentary on speedruns but hey I'm here for it
Good video. It's great seeing you try new things after getting better at youtube in general.
This is dope. Would def watch more videos like this if you made them :)
Jan's channel has really been popping off with great content recently, gonna hit 1m subs in no time dude
This was such a great feelgood video!! Great job man and congrats to pokeguy on his retirement. He definitely earned it!
If I have learned anything from Summoning Salt, no run is ever really dead.
I just got this video recommended right after the speedrunner Grogir brought a run on a pace that could beat this run all the way to the E4. I'm sure it'll be beaten eventually, especially given the hype (and bounties) surrounding it. But it would certainly take an absolutely amazing run to beat it because it's already an amazing time.
I love this style of video from you Jan!
I love this style of video from you, also you’re clearly going to summon our lord and seasoning summoning salt.
I love the breakdown of this speed run. Little different from the usual content but you’re right, it was pretty cool
Looking forward to summoningsalts video in about 2 years, "the quest to best pokeguy" gonna be epic.
I’m loving the editing and the new ish cinematic take to your videos
really enjoyed how well your content style translates to covering aspects of the hobby you aren't involved in. hope we see more like this at some point!!
Such a good video! I love gen 1 speed runs and this one is a beauty.
Btw if anyone is interested, he didnt fully stop, he got his FireRed/LeafGreen Sub-2 20 Days ago.
Dude I LOVE that you put Kirby Air-Ride music in the video!!
it's great when you go in depth like this
Liking the new content Jan, keep it up!
love that your covering this keep expanding my guy
I love how much Jan dunks on Onix 😂. Great video. Im here for the content diversification.
I love watching you grow and hone your skills at scripting and executing these videos. Knowing you had some room for improvement has helped you grow. Keep it up king 👑
Loved seeing a PC speedrun explanation video
I really liked this one. The narrative and editing was super good and avoided being utterly hammed up
Definitely feeling the Summoning Salt inspiration on this one. Great video!
Great upload, this is the only way my busy mind can consume speedrun content, but I respect tf out of runners.
I watch an embarrassing amount of UA-cam, and your ad reads are the best on this site.
It’s poetic that one of the first pokemon ever seen, and the one that Oak pulls out when we first played, is the best speed run pokemon
loved your analysis pchal, interesting run, but kinda laughed at the closing quote, to me it made the video look like one of those class presentations we did as kids about a cool topic we liked lmao
Some grade A content sir. Love these types of videos, and would love to see more.
That Kirby air ride soundtrack a few minutes in had me rockin and rollin haha
His run reminds me of the first 64 Heat Hades clear; if you don’t have the balls to risk the RNG, you’ll never be the best.
The content just keeps getting better Jan!
I like this form of content from you. It’s quite enjoyable to watch
Lmfao the poke guys little voice clip interview things sprinkled inbetween is so funny. Like I feel like bro doesn't gaf how he got where he is 😂
Man just couldn’t stay in his lane and decided to but out this absolute BANGER of a vid
Red bar is such an intense thing... Dark Souls 1's Red Tearstone Ring that boosts dmg when below a very low threshold is very cool too, I'd love more stuff like this in games.
Oh cool summoning salt came out with a new vid and with a PChal impression as well
Loved that wee change up mate... crazy stuff
Very cool look into some new pokemon catagories
I think the best quality about speedrunning, is the rush you get when you achieve something impossible and yet others find ways to break your impossibillity and go even further beyond.
its insane that it took 2800 attempts and playing incredibly risky the entire time just to shave off 1 minute from the previous world record. and now its seen as a nearly unbeatable record
2 PChal vids within the same week? We eatin good
By far my favorite pchal ad read. Never have I ever seriously considered buying a product based on a sponsored UA-camr’s recommendation.
X Speed is actually used to ensure horn drill hits - you need to outspeed your opponent for it to hit, meaning horn drill would always miss if he didn’t X Speed against a faster Pokémon
Have you checked out Karl Jobst? He has some really cool ones
Loving Summoning Challenges
Very cool video, big ups to Pokeguy for all the records that’s truly insane
Brilliant video, Jan. Congratulations to Pokeguy, you will be missed by us speedrun fans. Truly one of the best.
I really like this documentary style video you have made, I would love to see more of these!
Well scripted, well spoken, AND P5/Hades soundtrack in the background? Take my upvote
Great content as always!
"you should stop when it's at its best"
Man knew when to hold them, and he knew when to fold 'em
Hey, Jan!
Appreciate the Kirby Air Ride music being used! 🎶
This is of the same calibre as Small Ant’s Odyssey WR vid. Really well done 👍🏻
This lil summoning salt ambiance is really good ngl
What an absolute legend. Here's to you, PokeGuy!
Always a good day when Jan posts something
Loving the Kirby Air Ride music
