Hey Jan I'm making a presidents play pokemon AI series, would you be cool if I had an AI of you come in and shit on them for their gameplay?
cant ignore the fact, that ekans dosnt need some silicone to get rid off hes old skin
It's a tradition to have manscaped sponsor any reaction to an RT game nuzlocke
For a second there I thought it was RTGames calling out your sponsor instead of you
Your thumbnail for this one is really clickbaity, for the use of the master ball alone. It makes it feel much more like your roasting him for that, specifically, when he didn't even throw or consider using it until post-nuzlocke.
Oh God, here we go again. I cannot watch this yet but I fear the worst with that title hahaha. Thank you for reviewing my absolute slaughter of a run

hi dad
Love you RT!! Also as long as you’re having fun playing is all that matter man! ❤
Your runs are great keep at it dude an please never get good it makes for better entertainment 🤣
Jan has gotten really good at reviewing runs: his critiques are always constructive, he never gatekeepes and he has also found a nice balance between being critical and recognizing the effort, so that he never feels unfair in his criticism, but he also never panders the runner too much.
Disagree, I find these much less interesting than his past videos and very lacking in personality
@@theessenceofawesome1disagreeing is completely fine, but if you want to discuss something you should explain your position a bit more. Unless you just wanted to state that you disagree. In which case, uh... good for you, I guess? I personally disagree with your disagreeing, in case you wondered.
@@theessenceofawesome1 I hate it when people just say "I don't like this" without saying why it just grinds my gears
@@theessenceofawesome1 I mean, he's getting more popular and if he sticks to his edgy past self of this hardboiled best nuzlocker persona, he might find himself losing several connections he has built with people who decided to reach out to him after he criticized their nuzlocke run.
@@sanstheblaster2626 I stated why in the comment... there's no personality behind a dry, bright voiced explanation of mechanics that he's gone over dozens of times in every video he's ever made. That's not why people watch these videos and certainly not why I do. It's also not why these videos got popular either.
Also, no one owes you an deep explanation of their motives in the comment section of a youtube video and demanding one because you don't like the opinion shared is very weak.
Also fun fact about post game for b2/w2: if you have a vaporeon low on health while cheren is your partner. He'll instruct Minccino to use Aqua tail to heal Vaporeon.
AI out here using better strats than half the playerbase
That's useful
Hugh does the same thing with his fire type Pokémon if your Pokémon has flash fire, he has them use Fire Fang to power you up.
I mean, he's the ability tutorial, it makes sense that he knows them.
The rival in heartgold does the same in the double battle against lance and the dragon gym trainer if your pokemon has h2o absorb. ....I didn't know this, switched my water pokemon out and he killed my next one🥲
That Excadrill death made me learn that Magmar has *93* base speed. Why.
The same reason Ledian has lower than base 60 in almost every stat, but for some reason has 110 SP DEF.
fast duck
Magmar is that fast? Damn
Like most pokemon in Alola are surprisingly slow, a lot of pokemon in Kanto are surprisingly fast.
@@andyhuynh2625 listen, ledian needs SOMETHING
I bet when Jan pictured being "The God of Nuzlockes," he wasnt imagining it was because people would be invoking his name at the beginning of runs out of reverential fear. XP
You’ve gotten extremely good at not shitting on the person but letting everyone know exactly what they did wrong. Bravo man. It’s a hard line to walk.
Yeah, but I miss the clever trash talk.
Or just pulling up the Showdown calculator and doing the same fight on that to write an out to a tight spot.
feels like that's the easy part lol
I think the reason RT doesn't think about AI manipulation is because he started playing Pokemon at a competitive level, and is relatively new to nuzlocking
Even in pvp there is some level of switching via a different mon to bait the opponent into a different move, even if it is not nearly as common compared to playing vs the predictable AI.
@@Dragonoid269 He's stated before he likes to just dick around, a nuzlocke can be run without doing ai manipulation
Edit: well this aged exceptionally well since the reply to this review LMAO
@@user-cj4qj5ie9r He made a reply video to this review saying pretty much what i said, he dosen't wanna do that but admits it'd be a good tool
One thing I learned in my various nuzlocke attempts of BW2 is that you don't even need to go through the trouble of using repels to prevent your rival from killing your Castelia Sewers encounter. You can just run up and down the initial staircase and get your encounter there.
Yeah this was what I did on my own first attempt/successful run. Saves you money on Repels too if you want so double bonus there.
In black and white 2 protect is only available through the battle subway/pwt. It makes sense that rt didn’t get it cause it’s very grindy and risky to do either
You can technically play the rental tournament repeatedly for 0 risk, I suppose.
Do most people play that fainting in battle facilities counts as a death? I'd always assumed that Subway/PWT battles don't count.
Especially for Shard grinding at the PWT
thank god he met his sponsor deadlines I got scared for a second there
Wtf does that mean lmao
@@WilStroudWhen a UA-camr is sponsored by a company, like Jan with NordVPN or Manscaped, the UA-camr agrees to advertise the company in a certain number of videos released during a certain period.
If a UA-camr suddenly raises their upload frequency near the end of a month, it might just be because they were in danger of not advertising a sponsor enough times that month. 😉
@@WilStroudbecause sponsor deadlines are usually the end of the month and Jan just pumped out two vids
@@XavierTheNeonTigerBut it's the beginning of the month. And I'm not gonna buy a razor from a company that uses a guy with *that* facial hair
@@vinceeager8553but cant deny the guy must have the most luscious sacc ever
You know its a special week when Jan goes from a month of no uploads to 2 uploads in 2 days and reacts to Dan
I bet it’s because he procrastinated on his sponsor deadlines again.
I was thinking the exact same thing.
its called sponsors deadlines being at the end ofo the month
@@Mushtoast1aybe he's speedrunning the sponsors ig
I’m feeling very fed.
When RT uploaded this Nuzlocke, there was only one thing I was waiting for.
His reaction to your reaction.
No, like, unironically, these reaction chains are always genuinely cool to watch all the way, I don't know how you've created this meta, but it somehow makes me super excited to watch the same video with an additional face again and again.
Ever since RT came for PokemonChallenges balls with the Manscaped sponsor since the last nuzlocke, he was never the same after that
When RtGame started Rumbling and Tumbling during this run, I almost cried, truly heartbreaking.
14:40 people forget most of the reason Excadrill is fast is because of it’s sand rush ability. Unfortunate 😂
You’re making a lot more eye contact than you used to. I’m really glad your contribution to the current Nuzlocke community has been a very mutual and beneficial endeavor, with content creators giving you tips like that and making you take the Rare Candy Pill.
In the sewers before you talk to your rival you have like 6-7 steps of stairs to go down and you can actually get an encounter there. I recommend running up and down those stairs and getting the encounter first!
I always did that after hugh killed my zubat encounter i wanted
Bro, your growth as a UA-camr is so noticeable. You're being more animated, showing more range of emotions, are overall just more engaging with your audience, and even smiling a lot more. Loving all the content
40:47 Stone Edge actually isn't one of the moves that can hit through Fly. Those moves are Gust, Thunder, Twister, Whirlwind, Sky Uppercut, Smack Down, and Thousand Arrows. And even among those, the only ones that deal double damage are Gust and Twister.
Also thunder, but that doesn't double damage but rather loses accuracy checks
@@tejasdixit4417 It doesn't even bypass accuracy. That's exclusive to rain. It just CAN hit flying targets, doesn't mean it WILL.
@@misirtere9836 it does not?????
That sucks then!
My experience of my opponents always hitting it while I was flying made me think it did!
Thank god for pchal's monthly sponsor obligations
I was a little bit worried about Jan when he didnt call himselfe the best Nuzlocker in the World in the last upload
So I am happy to see him back to being based
It's a contested title after all
Waiting for the Nuzlocker King of the Ring
Personally it's really annoying he keeps calling himself that
I think it's FlygonG
27:30 funny enough, this is the one game where protect isn't really available during the main story. It's locked behind BP grinding, which is just asking for a ton of death even if you allowed it.
40:45 tell me youve lost a mon to No Guard Machamp without telling me
14:30 Yeah, Volcarona's level up learnset is pretty ass, but you can still teach it Signal Beam at the move tutor in Driftveil. Then you get Psychic on route 13, Fire Blast at Lacunosa, and finally Heat Wave + Giga Drain in Humilau.
It is quite a while between immediately getting Signal beam and getting Psychic. But Volcarona is a giant stat stick that spams a 75 base power STAB move for the mid game then becomes a sweeper late game. You've even got supporting moves like Light Screen from Nimbasa and Will-o-wisp in Celestial Tower.
this is like a supportive father reacting to their son’s progress, so sweet :)
I find hilarious that Jan wants rt to at least have one of his pokemon learn protect but protect was the one move that cost him to lose the pokemon tournament
it really isn't the same without chat being braindead
What's great about this is I know I'm about to get at least two more videos out of it in the next month; I'm ready and waiting for "Reacting to a 'Pro Nuzlocker' Critiquing My BW2 Nuzlocke" followed by "Reacting to RT Games' Reaction To My Critique of His Nuzlocke".
40:45 Stone Edge does not do double during fly, nor does it even hit you. I think people frequently get confused with this because of Machamp frequently running Stone Edge with No Guard, which means it would hit you during the semi-invulnerable turn if using fly (which you likely would since it’s weak to flying) kinda funny how frequently that gets people lol
The way he talked about the Bounce and other similar points really made it seem like he hadn't planned so far ahead, by like looking up the teams, rather that he was operating on nebulous memories of the game as his guide
and whatever Twitch chat told him. It's RTs MO.
@@valen9835 i mean his videos are less "this is my nuzlocke challenge" and more "im replaying this game and ill be streaming it too"
@@valen9835 Playing however he wants is valid because that's how he likes it. The end. Go play your own or find someone else who does it exactly your way.
Gosh darn it rt can you go one nuzlocke without getting roasted?
Another good thing to note on Castelia Sewers is that the rival won't join you until you get down the stairs... and an encounter can be found on the stairs, so I grab the sewer encounter right there
I think this is my favourite review yet. Really good critique, actionable helpful criticisms for the watcher, additional information but also aknowledging his efforts and praisisng good plays. Also not gatekeeping and being very clear about it so no weird gatekeepy gamers can say anything and no edgy jokes to pull him down. Love this!!
Jan left for a month, and now he's returned with two absolute bangers!
Excadrill's deceptively low speed catches me off-guard sometimes, but the way I remember it is, they wouldn't give it Sand Rush if it didn't need it. Okay, pretend Lycanroc doesn't have it, and that similar abilities go to other Pokemon that don't need it, like Alolan Raichu's Surge Surfer. Just ignore the things that don't make sense, and it makes perfect sense.
I'd love to see Jan review one of Marrilands Wedlockes.
Marrilands is such a unique player in that the Wedlocke is kind of a different beast in comparison to nuzlocking.
When he sent out Golurk in E4 because of it having the highest base power move ignoring stab is not because of EQ. It’s because it has hammer arm, 400 base vs 200. Point still stands but always funny when Jan misses something
So unfortunately the TM for protect is locked behind having BP, so RT actually couldn't teach his Pokemon protect
Ok hot take... If you're not banning Pseudo Legendaries, the mid-tier Legendaries like Moltres, Suicune, Regirock and so on really don't have a stat package that is out of band.
yeah their stat totals aren't even 600, they're not that overpowered
Exactly. If you're banning things like Garchomp the way Jan does in his runs it makes sense to ban the minor legendaries as well. Otherwise, who cares? They have stat totals comparable to your starter.
I think it's more like too much guaranteed stuff, you usually get just 1 psuedo but most games have 3 minor legendaries before the e4 and they are guaranteed encounters usually.
I'd agree, Bisharp is honestly better than Virizion. Virizion has good special bulk and ok physical bulk but only 90 base atk and spa atk and it being grass/fighting isn't great.
My opinion is:
Don't ban anything and have fun lol
the slow zoom ins during jan's nerd rants are so fucking funny
Very good critique! Each review you have more and more pointed advice/recommendations, and I love how you judge each player at their own level, not your own
RT is really getting better at these. Not perfect, obviously, but you can tell he takes your advice on board and is genuinely improving.
You did mention protect a lot in this video. Unfortunately, protect is only available for purchase with BP in B2/W2, so he'd have to do the subway or PWT, which he didn't do for this run
I noticed how much more Jan (genuinely) smiles, especially during intros. Love to see that.
Loving the editing on the “What the *UA-cam*” every single time it happens
I feel like pchal is so much more engaging now! Very cool :)
6:20 wouldn't be nice to have a Buddy Clause which allows to hold your first encounter of the route as long as you're teamed up? Then, first time you're alone in that route, first encounter is the encounter
Love the way Jan does these now. And it might just be a front but it seems like he really enjoyed this one. The moment with RT catching Virizion was really sweet lol
I think this is by far the most wholesome/kindhearted review I've seen on this channel
Thanks for doing reactions to nuzlockes again. I always find these videos entertaining
hey Jan! just wanted to say that after a year of watching your channel, im going to be doing my first ever hardcore nuzlocke on the game Crystal Clear. i hope youre doing well. thank you for being so good about making smart and sometimes intense decisions easily make sense when reacting to others. have a good night!
Always love Jan’s relation with RT, not as great as with Jacob and Jaiden, but still great
If there's anything I learned from this video it's that Golurk can use Fly.
Always like Daniel’s play through and Jan’s reactions so he can feed his family 🙏
Not sure how much this matters, but in the Castelia Sewers encounter i got my encounter by running on the stairs before interacting with the rival
i actually really appreciate the detailed technique breakdown in this video, thanks Jan
Ah I really loved your reviews of RT's nuzlockes. Watching a new one from him was great but also great was knowing there'd be another of these.
Jan just seems so happy going into this, I love it
Finally u r back man, I love watching ur main channel vids
"oh cool i wonder what youtuber we're watching this time"
*Irish*
"oh no."
So RT in his response mentions that Protect is only obtainable in BW2 via the Battle Subway. Because of this, I'm wondering if people have special rulings to make Battle Subway deaths not count that way you're not locked out of moves, or if there are any other clauses available to address that?
Bro the quality is through the roof. Over the past few months, videos have been cranked to 11. Love to see it.
Fun fact: rotation battles use random AI, so you really can’t predict what move or switch they will make. How fun!
For the sewer encounter, you can get your encounter on the stairs you walk down before you talk to your rival
Pchal sponsored by Manscaped yet looks like he never shaved or scaped 💀 love you Jan
the virizion catch was so damn satisfying
Jan might be using high IQ plays, but he cannot contend with RTGame's insane luck
I really like the shaggy look man. It gives you a grittier vibe, which I definitely appreciate
Also its nice to see Jan doing proper outros more and more lol
RT is improving with each run he does!
@15:00 people definitely overvalue Excadrill's speed, especially competitive players since Excadrill commonly uses (or at least used to use) Choice Scarf.
Can’t wait to see RTs reaction to your reaction to his nuzlocke
The classic end of the month double upload ❤
6:10 thank you for this actually! I tried nuzlocking and it was annoying that my rival killed a Thundurus that I planned to catch (with a normal-ghost Eevee)
I really wanted to see PChal’s reaction to the gothita and I am happy now lmao
“What type is revenge????”
*GETS OBLITERATED*
“…”
Pchal getting closer and closer to Pepe Silvia and I love it
by now I just know jan uploads 2 videos a month: at the beginning and the end. tbh consistency is good
I agree with having your mons with protect, sadly the tm is behind the PWT and cost 6BP......
One thing with the sewer encounter is you can run on the stairs before you reach your rival and get 1 Pokémon
You should review one of your nuzlock sit would be so funny
I cannot believe that Volcarona isnt good for nuzlockes. That massive 550 BST plus immediate access to Signal Beam through Move Tutor seems powerful in the midgame, and access to Fire Blast, Psychic, Flamethrower, Roost, and Giga Drain later in the game seems really good. Someone plz explain to me why people dont like this in nuzlockes
A retort for Volcarona-
Signal Beam is available as soon as you get it and that Fire Spin is still two-shotting most things cause 135 SpAtk.
For legendaries I've always just gone by Battle Tower/Tournament rules. Legendaries legal for tournament play/minor legendaries (Entei, Landorus, Chien-Pao) are valid, while box legendaries or mythicals (Mew, Groudon, Dialga) are not.
The thing for darmanitan is that you really can use belly drum to sweep a good chunk of the e4, if you give it like leftovers+protect, belly drun, fire punch, return, anything it out speeds is just super dead, and anything faster is gonna have a considerable time getting through it's bulk given leftovers recovery
I think the reason a lot of people think Exca is so fast is that a lot of people vaguely recall yhe Weather Wars of Gen 5 and Excadrill being an oppressive force with Sand Rush. Even though Sand Force is probably the bigger reason for it being so cracked.
YOUR BACK DUDE! IT's been a bit since you've uploaded, I missed your content.
Damn, that peliper really had the most suiting nickname😂
Jan freaking out
RT: "Aggron is the solution"
I still think you should review "Pokemon Hard Mode" (the comic of the FIRST EVER Nuzlocke)
I've overestimated Excadrill's speed like 20 times and counting. So used to Sand Rush/T-tar that you just assume he's going first.
It's crazy to see just how many youtubers directly reference Jan in nuzlocke videos these days. I remember watching back before the Jaiden video when the community was small and pretty niche. Now, people like Ludwick will reach out to Jan for collabs.
Been nuzlocking white 2 as well and also on console, currently on victory road. Funny to see this pop up, getting Jan wisdom before the league fights
I love the nerd rant zoom at 5:00
6:23 for your first time in the castelia sewers, you can run up and down the stairs without triggering your rival to follow you
Honestly this guys nuzlocks are 1 of my favirate things you do its always funny an he can take the roast an laugh about it an i think thats a great skill 🤣🤣🤣
Definitely fun to see your reaction to Nuzlockes.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS REVIEW FOR AGESSSS
With the Fly vs Earthquake debate, there is 1 factor that needs considered.
Yes, Fly has more power at 180 due to it being Super Effective vs Earthquake that is 150 with STAB.
BUT
Fly is a 2 turn move, so you're going up, waiting, THEN going down for damage. Meanwhile you can get 2 Earthquakes off in that time frame, meaning Earthquake vs Fly is 300 vs 180 at that point.
And it's 1 less Bulk Up turn for Conkeldurr to mitigate damage further.
And with the Paralysis it increased the chance of Fly straight up failing with no returns.
