I watched Growing Succulents with Liz K and she managed to grow them from leaf.. I noticed she was keeping them quite moist on soil as they love water (apparently!)
Could you please send me a link to the video because someone has said this to me already but they referenced a video where only one cultivar managed to grow. I had a look through her videos and couldn't find one where other Aeonium like the arboreum or Schwarzkopf were propagated. Many Thanks 🙂
If you want to participate in the experiment, send your videos/ photos of your Aeonium leaves to aeoniumexperiment@gmail.com All entries will be published in later updates.
i don’t have any aoniums- not one. i had SunBurst but i killed it as a baby during my kill all stage - too much water, too much light and general overdoing everything. so i can’t participate. sorry. but u an interested in the results.
It happens, i've killed a fair share of succulents in my time too 😅😅😅 Yesss, it will definitely be interesting what the outcome will be with these Aeonium leaves 🍂🍂
I don`t have a camera, not even a smartphone, but I can ask someone else to take pictures. My aeonium-collection is really small tho. Schwarzkopf, Kiwi, Sunburst, Mardi Gras, so nothing fancy. I am not sure if they will go dormant or not, depends on the temerature. Since our climate here is kind of a wildcard, I dont know. You might remember my echeveria for some reason went dormant, but the haworthias and agaves (!) go full boom. I don`t find a pattern in this XD. Anyway, I can take a few leaves, but since I just started with aeoniums, I have very few... BTW, are we allowed to kind of conserve the leaves? ATM there is 27 - 30° C here and it has not rained in like at least 6 weeks, the humidity is down to 23%... I don`t think Schwarzkopf-leaves would last long enough if I don`t put them into a bag or something.
If you could try even with the few, that would be awesome 😀Definitely can put them in a bag- i'm actually going to do the same just so i can say i really tried everything. Wow, it is a bit wild over there. My parents said they have trouble growing veg this year as its been really cold and they even had some summer frosts! I'm not looking forward to our summer these coming years- it's meant to be heatwaves (40C+) and drought. Very likely lots of bushfires 🥺 Anyhoo, let us know how its looking- it will be so interesting to see!
I can’t wait for the results.
Me too! i find myself obsessively checking on the leaves every day 😅😅🍂🍂
I have had some success with this but I'm excited to try again. I'm in the U. S. A. So it's best for me to wait until fall comes closer in September
That's great- let us know how you go :)
Beautiful plants 🪴🪴🪴🪴☘️☘️☘️

I have a mature plant propagated from an Aeonium Velour leaf.
I have managed one baby from leaf in all the years, its brown, so not sure but i think its a short black.
Ooo, that is great- well done! Did it end up growing into a bigger plant or is it too early to say? Thank you for sharing 🙂
It has been about 1cm since last year, so hopefully will start growing again now that is cooler
😊

Lol I can't live without hormones, I'm addicted to propagate with them 😅
That's completely fair- i use them a lot on indoor plant & native shrub cuttings. They definitely make a difference 🙂
