    I love what you did with the last plant, about pinning it down. Great video over all. ❤

    Excellent video. Important for everyone to remember these are winter growers, so attempting to propagate in summer may fail. thank you, Beloved Plant.

    I really learn so much from your very clear instructions/information which gives me courage to ‘cut’. I have never had luck with Aeonium but now I just might! And thanks for the straggly plants information. Succulents are so much fun!

    In my area winter is short, so every year the leaves that propagates don’t get to continue growing and survive as the summer kicks in really quickly while they’re still too young! Next year, I’ll try them inside the house 🏡, beautiful video, thank you

    Have tried to propagate succulents, or any plant, and fail to succeed. Will try the method below.

    Generally with water propagation the roots are glassy and fragile. It would be best to transplant as soon as the roots appear and the leaf is re-hydrated.

    For succulent leaves, set the leaves in a tray of soil or even just sand. Set them aside and ignore them. They will drop roots and grow a small baby plant - all by themselves. I never use compost with succs. I chop off the heads and set them in a pot of fast draining soil ( potting mix, perlite and sand) or just sand and let them do their thing.

      No compost? I have worm castings. Would those be bad to use as part of well draining amendments?

    • @BelovedPlant
      @BelovedPlant  9 місяців тому +7

      It always depends on the climate you leave your succulents in. Mine staymost of the year in a green house that is dry and hot. I don't water them often enough, so I leave "heavier soil" on it. Compost. They are gorgeous as you can see :)
      Are you lucky enough to grow them outside in your climate? Of it's warm but more damp, if you get rain. Use lighter soil... It can even be compost mixed with sand or coco coir

      What is important for people to realize is that there isn't an absolute exact soil mox that applies to everyone. All other environmental variables need to be taken into account

      @@BelovedPlant I’m in Texas where I’d say it is too hot to leave them outside. Mine all sit in a window. I compost with worms indoors. I feed my axolotls worms and the worms make compost for me. Right now I’m using an off the shelf succulent /cactus mix that I’ve added perlite to.

    Can you create multiple heads on a kiwi aeonium by pruning off the top of the head?

    • @BelovedPlant
      @BelovedPlant  4 місяці тому

      Hello, I have only observed multiple heads being created in larger aeoniums (thicker stems). The kiwi branches out, but after the head is taken out, it often does not come back on that same stem

    Did you use STRAIGHT compost, please?

    • @BelovedPlant
      @BelovedPlant  8 місяців тому +1

      Hi there. I used potting compost, which should be lighter than straight compost. Thank you for your question. I will specify this in future videos.

  • @tomherbert6792

    How many times do you water these plants please

    • @BelovedPlant
      @BelovedPlant  11 місяців тому +1

      Tony, I water mine often, aeonium leaves are not too thick. So I give them plenty of water.
      However, if they aren't watered enough, they will survive, just not as beautiful as the lower leaves will dey out and drop. They are very resistent to neglect
