Just an SVR in this exact spec yesterday (except black wheels instead of silver) and WOW, the sound truly is insane. It's so much fun to drive, it makes it all make sense. Loved every second of the experience...and now I want one. Despite the terrible MPG, but that's what you sign up for.
Nice review ... like you, I can't bring myself to be an SUV kinda person - but that word keeps coming back for us car guys .... character ... and not many cars seem to have it these days ..
You don't have to "get" the "SUV" thing. It's about practicality, personal preference, and need more than having a 4x4 for purely offroading capability etc. I have this vehicle, but the V8 Dynamic as I do NOT like the SVR interior. It looks cheap. But I essentially have the same engine. It is a sports car/SUV and it's fantastic. It ticks every single box for me. I can tow a large trailer, go camping, take the kids to sporting events, pack the shit up with children (I have a 3rd row), and then drive it like a sports car and have fun! It's exceptionally versatile. Sports car, not so much. I drive the absolute piss out of this truck and it's the best vehicle I've owned. I've had several luxury/sport cars and SUVs. This is TOP. Also, you don't have to really wind this thing up to get torque, it's almost INSTANT. It's a supercharger. Not a turbo. My wife has a twin turbo BMW and THAT you have to wind up to the point of it being annoying after driving my RRS. It's like you have to wait for it.
Oh no, I definitely have the exhaust note. it's essentially the same, just slightly muffled as i don't have the switch. But when you get on it, it sounds like you've awoken some sort of beast.
I surely think that a proper petrolhead, or a genuine petrolhead I should say shouldn't have an SUV 1st on his list, and probably none on it either, simply because it's too compromised. I may be wrong however...
I understand what you are saying i am a massive automotive fan and love cars with a burning passion. I am currently looking for a new car and have driven a many cars most noteworthy a c63 and a rover a 2011 supercharged something about the way you sit in the range and the driving position makes it really amazing
Passion is Racing surely being a petrol head isn't about genres or pigeon holing, for me it's about putting a smile on your face and how it makes you feel regardless if it's an Aston Martin, MX5, Mini or an SUV?

Too bad the sound from the inside is pretty muted. Seems like everyone else can enjoy the sound but you.
