Tudor made things right - Black Bay 58 925

- After posting my horror story about the original Tudor Black Bay 58 925 watch on UA-cam, Tudor and the AD reached out to me to resolve the issue. Both Tudor USA and the AD realized this experience was not what should be expected and replaced my watch with a brand new one, including a fresh 5 year warranty. In this video I discussed some of the details and show my replacement watch, which I am very satisfied with. I no longer have this sore spot for the brand and the AD.
Original video: • Be careful buying a Tu...
It's sad that this only happened because you made a public statement about it.. 99.99% of the time this stuff goes unnoticed and brands lose customers forever.
Agreed. Very sad. If this had been handled correctly the first time, I would never have lost my enthusiasm for the brand. Now I am uneasy. They got me sorted out in the end and I am appreciative, but I am apprehensive about making another purchase, especially on new releases.
its a shame that the previous video had to be made to get the issue rectified, I just imagine this happening to my Dad who doesn't use social media let alone have a youtube channel. He'd have just been up shit creek. Happy for you but Tudor and the AD need to be better moving forward.
Yes I believe this was a learning experience for both of them. Hopefully things are better going forward.
Good ending and great to see someone at Tudor taking positive action! I think all of us have better feelings about Tudor too.
Agreed. I feel better about my watches too now!
Happy it got figured out man. That's cool they reached out and made it right.
One of the things I've learned is that disputing the charge on a credit card focuses attention. Suddenly the repair/replacement process has a time limit.
Certainly if the issue is evident in the first few days one can reasonably demand a replacement, as the watch shipped defective. After that, one may need to accept a repair instead. But one should not accept a repair that takes months, and certainly a failed repair should end one's patience.
That this incident occured on a luxury watch brand is unthinkable. However, Rolex is used to showing contempt for customers, and Tudor is part of "Greater Rolex."
Got my black bay over 5 years ago. Black with gold hands in house movement, picked it up brand new for £2200. Mine keeps really good time and is a joy to own wears good on wrist. Surprised you was sold a bad one good to hear they gave you a new one, rightly so.
Very interesting, thanks for sharing the whole story and the updates.
I'm happy for you that they fixed the issue. If you hadn't made the first video, you would've still had the lemon. The question is: why do we(the consumers) always have to get so vocal about problems in order to receive the required attention? Anyway, once again, I'm happy for you, brother. Wear it in good health!
Yes unfortunately it seems the original video was a key part in this getting sorted out. I’m just glad I don’t have this sore spot when looking at my wrist anymore. My fingers are crossed this movement is sorted and I no longer have any issues.
@EDHblvd A piece of advice(but I guess you already figured it out): just take pictures of everything you get or send for repair/service, lol
That’s what customer service should be all about. Congrats on the new watch.
Thrilled that it got resolved, especially since you’re eager to be a repeat buyer of the brand!
Should not have taken a video to get issued resolved at what Tudors cost, but glad they took care of you.
Thx for update - the swags look really nice - very jelly 😄
Ya the water bottle I looked up and it’s worth $52! My son actually took the grey hat haha
Glad to see you got the situation resolved to your satisfaction. Frustrating to not find out what work was done on the original or what the actual fault was to cause the poor winding sensation. Always comes of a bit sneaky from brands when the wont just be upfront with issues with their product
Agreed. The lack of clear communication was one of the worst parts. Hopefully they try to work on this.
So happy to hear that is all good, BB58 39mm black is my grail watch....:)
I am glad that you received satisfaction from this debacle, and I apologize for putting it on you to chase down and press the AD in the previous video. Your experience made me, uncomfortably, question the level of quality (or lack of, as you had warned) one could expect from Tudor servicing and repair and it planted a seed of doubt on the value and quality of my choice of favorite watch. I see now the need to voice your dissatisfaction, it opened their ears and hopefully spares the rest of us from that potential frustration. Thanks for the update, and I hope you enjoy the timepiece.
Thanks. Ya it’s concerning to say the least. I’ve also recently see horror stories with Omega service as well. Very disappointing these luxury brands don’t work harder at making their service centers top notch.
Its NOT the same price as a Rolex ,but still not a cheap watch so it should be well made and reliable
❤nice to hear that they rectified matters! ❤ Personally I love Tudor ❤ Nice to see a negative turned to a positive 😊
Really glad to hear there was a happy ending to your story! You were beyond patient, and it was in no way your fault!
I've been into watches for quite a while, both budget, micro brand and luxury, and it would have been a shame if one bad experience ruined your love of nice watches!
Haven't purchased a Tudor as of yet, but I've come very close!
Enjoy your new Black Bay 925.... it's a stunning watch!
It is stunning. Thankfully this replacement no longer has those ugly marks I did not put on it. Any wear over time will only be mine.
Enjoy it in good health!
This is a good reason to buy used/certified preowned. That way you know it has been gone through, you usually get a better value for your money and a fresh warranty to boot. I own two Tudor watches and have owned a Rolex submariner in the past (sold it). I have to say that my two Tudor Black Bay 58s, one S&G and one in Bronze are now my favorite watches. Both are +/- 2 seconds/day and going strong! I am glad the AD got you squared away!
Congratulations on the new watch. I’ve considered buying a Tudor but have seen so many published issues with their movements it’s put me off them. I think I might hold fire for a few more years, while they iron out the issues.
Probably wise. Also never buy a brand new model. My original BB58 925 was pretty early in this models run. I’ll never buy a brand new model from them again, as they don’t seem to keep replacement watches and parts available for months.
@@EDHBlvd thanks a lot for sharing your experience.
I was initially keen on the BB58 but now looking at the Oris Aquis Caliber 400. What are your thoughts on it? I've also heard good things about Oris regarding their reliability.
Otherwise the GS SBGA211 just seems hands down better than all these in terms of quality, accuracy and service, but would take more with saving!
Great result and I'm happy things have worked out. Don't listen to the idiots and haters, I often wonder why do they bother unless they are paid to do it. Anyway enjoy the replacement and well done for not taking this one sitting down. When its 4 figures for a watch the after purchase care should align with the initial purchase experience.
I recently had a similar problem with my Pepsi GMT which I bought right after its launch in 2018. About three months ago i put it on after a long hiatus and noticed it stared to lose time and eventually it stopping altogether.
My watch is from original release but probably only had about a total of two months of wrist time!!
My AD told me it was very unusual problem “Haha” and sent it to Rolex in NY to be repaired. They had it about a month and I’ve just been told it’s ready for pick up but its warranty had expired so i would have pay for the repairs. I haven’t picked it up yet but will be very curious to find out what has been done.
Anyone that follows TUDOR knows that their new GMT in house caliber MT5652 has been plagued with problems since its launch, especially with the day date stoping!
Hopefully my AD will be more helpful than yours.
I’ll keep you posted.
Yep. I want the new monochrome BB but won’t even put my name on waiting list for a year maybe. I refuse to be a beta tester for the metas movement. However it likely got tested with last year’s red/gilt release.
Literally the same issues you had is happening to me, the hands will freeze up. Going to the AD tomorrow to have it sent to be serviced
Good luck. I hope your situation turns out better than mine did the first time. Thankfully I was able to get it sorted in the end.
Re the bezel being damaged a high school student doing work experience most likely did this. Honestly Tudor should have just given you a replacement when the issue first occurred. Good on you for persisting until you got a satisfactory outcome.
I agree. I’d the AD had agreed to replace watch when its movement was stopping 2 months in, I would never have had any doubts about Tudor. It’s unfortunate it took more to get it, but glad they ended up replacing.
Good this was sorted. It's a shame really with all these problems, as they are good looking watches. It seems that it is sometimes down to the AD's and not Tudor, but then there are also obvious manufacturing faults such as dust under the glass, misaligned indexes, the date wheel on the GMT and now this movement problem. - Nice you got some goodies. I have seen the BB 925 in the metal and it does look very nice, also on the brown strap.
That's a great outcome. Why didn't you contact Tudor USA directly about this before posting the initial video?
Glad there was a second video and you now have a working watch but let's not forget over a half year of aggravation and grief that would still leave somewhat of a bad taste I would certainly your a good sport
Ya this is why I left first video up. The experience was still painful. Just glad it’s sorted out.
Such a shame that it took a UA-cam video to get the kind of service that you should have originally received.
Ya, if they had just replaced the watch the first time (even if it took 6 months), I would not have had such a poor experience. I think honestly Tudor should have offered a refund knowing the replacement would take so long. I would have then bought a different Tudor and possibly have not had such a terrible experience. I’m weary about the brand still, but thankful they made things right. I love the new Black Bay Pro, but I could not in any right mind put my name on a list for it until maybe a year later. Buying a brand new model from Tudor seems very risky, as they do not have parts available for repair. They also seem to not do the best QC on movements or repairs.
It’s nice👍Glad to see you got a new one and solved the problem. I love Tudor BB58 blue size and looks good for me, but I prefer the movement and case back of Omega Planet Ocean. Looks is BB58 better than PO. Movement PO better than BB58. But quality I don’t know which one better, maybe PO better? I still thinking, although I have not enough money to buy now.
Afternoon All. Wow, what a couple of videos. Disappointing stuff. Of course, we’re happy it ended well for this fellow.
I am a long time luxury watch buyer; bought my first, an Omega Speedmaster in 1995, and I’ve gone on to buy other Omega’s, Grand Seiko’s, Rolexes, and Tudors, mostly at ADs, but a few through Watchbox and Bob’s Watches.
The only issue I’ve ended up with ended well, I think. I bought an early version of the Tudor BB GMT, and had the date issue. Through the AD, I sent it to the Dallas, TX, USA Rolex Service Center. They returned the watch in about two months (2020…COVID year) with a new movement. The watch has worked well since. Lucky me, perhaps.
This is frustrating though: these types of real stories. We could all just buy a decent, water-resistant, quartz watch if we wanted. But we give these companies our trust, and trust it is to give someone $4,000 or more for a wristwatch.
I hope your new 925 works well and becomes a trusted tool as the years advance.
Yep it’s why I left the original video up. It’s still the story. It still happened. I’m happy Tudor was able to resolve my situation and the 3rd watch has been great since received. Wearing it right now and still love the 925 case so much. It’s so much warmer than stainless steel. I am actually on the wait list for a couple more Tudors. I am giving them another chance. Hoping for a better result on my next purchase from AD.
Glad Tudor "did you right." I have the Black Bay 58 Silver 925 on the NATO. Hope you enjoy yours.
Same as me. Love the Tudor Natos.
So what happens if you don’t happen to have your own UA-cam channel to get attention?
I guess you could reach out to everyone at Tudor until they do something. I never actually did that as I was so frustrated by the original experience. Thankfully my video seemed to have grabbed the attention of someone at Tudor who cared about the brand.
Tudor umbrella because sometimes "when it rains, it pours"
Hahaha! Yes!!
Glad they made it right for you.
As am I. Now I can consider another Tudor purchase.
The NATO strap looks much nicer on the black bay.
This makes me think.. is Tudor movement reliable? Can I trust it to last long time? Maybe there is a reason Rolex didn’t use it in the first place.
People also have problems with Rolex movements, but there would appear to be a bigger issue with QC on these Kenissi movements. That said, I’ve not had any problems since. I won’t however buy a new watch out of the gates with Tudor anymore. I don’t want to be a beta tester again.
I am surprised that it's such a bad customer service in America. In other countries it's much better. I think it's not Geneva issue. Glad you won the battle :). I have my bluebay on bracelet and hardly took it off since i got it new, not one problem and fully enjoy it swimming, sauna, gym the works 💪
Not sure why you say you feel dirty going grey market. This can actually make a lot of financial sense. You can go ad route, sit on a list because they don’t care about you and then pay full retail, or with most of Tudor, go grey, get a new, unworn watch for a fraction of the price. Just make sure to get what you buy authenticated and buy from a reputable place.
Grey market is filled with scammers and dudes charging over retail. Even on Tudors. Look at eBay as example. It’s laughable.
@@EDHBlvdit can be. You just need to do your homework. I just scored a new, unworn black bay bronze for more than 50% off retail. You have to be careful with grey but I don’t think you need to be ashamed if you do find one there.
Very happy for you my friend. But think about the experience us "common people" would have? We have no followers, no social media presence, and the furthest thing from being an "influencer". I know I'd be the schmuck stuck with a sullied Tudor and have no recourse had I done business with this AD.
I’m actually a common person too. It seemed my video went viral. Most of my videos have 100 views and don’t blow up like that one.
Don't buy a Tudor and you won't have to worry about this potential customer service issue
Great at the end; that's good !
Yes. I’m feeling very satisfied in the end. I hope my next Tudor purchase goes smoothly. I love the new Black Bay Pro, but my lesson learned was not to buy a brand new watch. Maybe I’ll inquire about one next year. After the first few buyers get to play Russian Roulette.
Good that they made things right at the end for you… have you considered Omega at some point instead of Tudor?Definitely a better watch…
I would love a Seamaster 300 in the new green. Let’s see if Omega actually sells this or pulls a Rolex and has limited supply.
@@EDHBlvd that’s a good watch! Omega is playing exactly the opposite.. I am sure you would be able to get one..👍
I'm happy to see you manage to get it right.
Hasselblad are my favourite cameras. I also love Contax and I dislike Leica 😅
TUDOR SUCKS. My S&G is under warranty but AD charged me full service because watch stopped. Fake warranty. Even offered me to replace the crown for a price even if it is still working properly. Theyre milking customers. F them
Damn. That blows.
But Im happy u got your replacement watch. 😊 Cheers
Bec of my frustration, I looked the Tudor executives from Linked in. DM-ed them. But got nothing. Hehe. But I already moved on. After the service, my watch worked fine.
Just shows you need a youtube channel to get proper customer support.
Sad it takes a video to put a company on blast to make things right.
Glad to see that you got a new watch, anyway very sad to think that you have to make a video, share in UA-cam… in order to receive a normal service, something it’s paid when we buy an “luxury” watch… 😞😞😞
Agreed. Sad.
That’s how it should be!
I wish these were much shorter, were you able to keep the original damaged one?
I'm really glad for you, but still is unacceptable what happened. Rolex, Tudor and others dont really care about you unless you are spending 50k a year with them or have a large social media following
@@ianrusso8790 ya it doesn’t motivate you to go back. I’ve not bought another piece from that AD.
but Nato strap is less expensive than leather strap, right?
Nope. Exact same price. Look at their website.
Do you still like your watch?
I do. I was wearing my 925 yesterday. It’s gotten some patina (tarnishing and some scratches). It’s looking timeless.
Gladly to hear that the negative stuff got them!!!!😂😂😂 . I am not a Tudor fanboy, it 💩
“Waitlist’s!” That’s for clowns. If you’re on a waitlist your a chump off the street. Keep following the rules…Lol!!!
Interesting that you felt "dirty" buying from the grey market and not savvy. The takeaway from these videos seems to be that when Tudor gives you a lemon, buy a Seiko instead.
6 months of bs all for a replacement and a bag full of junk lol.
Haha ya.
Tudor is absolutely crap. It's a trick Rolex are banking on to sell more subpar watches at a high-end price. Never liked it and never will.
And so they should!!.. When you have a top brand you expect top service.. Ie a loaner watch.. Or a new watch immediately.. When you pay 4 figures.. You expect it!!. Should be an over night service to keep their name and brand right.. Otherwise you may aswell but a super clone and throw it in the bin when it packs up!!!.. What about the people who can't shout loud enough on utube.. What would they have done for them??. Its disgraceful either way..!
