No joke, had this issue a week ago with my gmt, my date was skipping 3 days overnight. It’s a little bit frustrating having to wait so long for the watch and it having problems almost immediately, but I understand that it is a new watch and trust that Tudor will fix it.
Matt Hudak I’m late to the party. But that kind of sucks ! I just picked mine up last month. Great watch. No date issue as of yet. Have you noticed that if you try to spin the watch (spin the rotor) you can hear and feel it spin?
Stay on top of it. They have not been able to fix my date wheel and my watch is now out of warranty. They have just written to say that the next repair I will be charged
And yet I keep hearing people complaining about certain watches not having in-house movements as if in-house is somehow inherently superior ... and well.. :)
I didn't realize this was more common thing until this video. I got one of the tudor gmt with the date issue. The date skipped over 1.5 days and got stuck at a half date turn. I bought it from an AD and noticed this problem from the first day. It took about a month for the watch to be fixed and it's working perfectly now. Everything was under warranty and it was taken care of without any hassle.
Good to know. I had mine about a month before i started to notice it jumping 2 days at midnight. My ad had no idea there was an issue and sent it back 3 weeks ago. No word on timing back from tudor yet. Hopefully another week or two.
I have had mine for just about a month & was aware of this when purchasing. I proactively cycled thru my date one month forward and no issues at thus far. The date switch over is pretty consistent between 12:03 - 12:07 with a nice click sound when it changes.
So basically the watch industry is like all other mass production industries where the actual last step in R&D process is the consumer. That is where it actually gets used for what it's supposed to be used for in a wide variety of conditions that are impossible to replicate in the lab. Yep sounds right but as long as they are honoring the warranty I don't see the problem...they do have a reputation to uphold and that will not suffer I'm sure.
My Blancpain Fifty Fathoms had the same problem and they actually had this as a common issue and had a factory redesigned part. They gave me a free full service and fixed it now it is perfect
So when Invicta puts out watches with broken movements everyone and their mother acts like their crap or WW3 is about to break out in the watch community, But when its a higher end brand like Tudor a brand most believe shouldn't have these issues no one bats an eyelash. I'm no way defend Invicta but when you're spending $4k+ on a watch compare to $100 or so on a watch you expect the cheaper of the two to have a problem. Seems like a double standard where people won't complain about the higher end brand having issues compare to the cheaper brands.
Invicta isnt making their own movements. They sell broken watches because of QC issues and that will never stop. This tudor issue is something that will be corrected at an early stahe in the movements production and will no longer happen. That is not even REMOTELY close to the same thing...
True I'll give you that but would this even be an issue if let's say Invicta decided to make their own movements or if Tudor was still using ETA based movements? The sad part is Invicta could actually be a decent mid-level brand if they did fix their QC, CS issues plus getting rid of those gigantic oversized dinner plate watches. And finally would stop putting up ridiculous MSRP's we all know a $1600 Invicta is not really worth $1600 more like $100.00 or less. But my point was a lot of people will give certain brands a pass cause their higher end compared to these lesser more hated brands like Invicta. But we're all human at the end of the day and we all make mistakes some more than others. Keep putting up new Vids.
Kevin C So, basically what you are saying is that Invicta could be better if they were a totally different company with a different way of doing things. SMH
jaime pereira How is what I said bad? Everything I mentioned is true. If Tudor did half the the things Invicta did no one would think twice cause it’s Tudor. Believe me I hate Invicta as much as the next guy but for some to sit there and act like no other company can do no wrong is where I draw the line.
+Kevin C You are comparing apples with oranges here. Invicta and Tudor are not remotely in the the same segment and thus not comparable. The only thing these brands have in common, is that both produce watches.
@@jondansmith6810 - Would you rather pay more for the additional testing or have the product sooner and cheaper? No amount of testing will guarantee perfect reliability in the real world. Bought my Tudor GMT Mid March 2019 at an AD and the date issue just affected my watch mid July. So don’t know if they have a new improved version of the movement out. But I didn’t get it in my relatively fresh Tudor GMT from early 2019. Read on the boards that Tudor is request the entire movement to be returned to resolve the issue and it takes a few months to return the watch.
Yup this happened to me. Got the watch and wore it for 3 days and the date jumped 2 days. Sent it back via warranty and is back now after 1 month. I think Tudor could of made things better by giving their customers something extra even like a little Tudor swag. No paying customer should become a beta tester for them.
My local AD told me that Tudor stopped shipping the GMT when it discovered the problem. He claimed that all watches arriving at ADs now should be good as the he started getting a few trickling in.
The Tudor GMT fiasco is unacceptable. New movement or not, the base movement is old technology. It’s not like a startup company. This shows Tudor is cutting corners. My Tudor GMT went in for 4 weeks with this exact date wheel problem. My Tudor AD is located in a ritzy location downtown where there is no parking and traffic is always terrible so consider roughly five hours of my valuable time and around $50 in parking fees as a write off thanks to this watch. The AD said no parts were no replaced and it could happen again so I think I’ll be dumping it.
sounds like road rage :) ...life goes on , bad break on the Tudor , get it fixed, quit whining and be happy. this happened to only a small portion from my understanding on the Role/tudor forums.
Hi Federico! as always I really enjoy your videos. I have 2 question: 1. So you think Tudor has a future moving up in price and stature as a brand? 2. TagHeuer was never my favorite brand, but since Jean Claude took over they have really stepped up their game with their new watches and in-house mvmt, do you think Tag is a good brans now?

Bang on Fed. I see this same thing in my industry. That why we have warranty, and R/D at the factory, the the issuenisnthen corrected in the next production run and then the issue disappears. Considering how complex and fragile a mechanical watch can be, it's crazy this doesn't happen way more often, especially considered most watches are mass produced in assembly lines
Hi guys I owned both the Tudor GMT and the Rolex Batman GMT. These watches are both beautiful and both have their own appeals. They are both GMT watches but very different and I get different complements. I have to say at first the Batman has a larger impression on people but the Tudor is very nice and feels very good in my wrist. I alternate both watches on a week by week basis. So far I haven’t had any issues with my watches. They were both bought at an AD. My wait time on the Batman was 6 month and the Tudor I was lucky to go into an AD and buy at the moment in July 2018.
No my AD had 4 and 3/4 were reserved I happened to be lucky because they had just arrived and I was there and I didn’t hesitate to buy one. Is a nice watch and I was one of the first person to have one in the US. :) I’m happy with my purchase

GSUS HC 1 second ago Just got mine on the leather strap today after waiting 9 months on a waiting list. I'm very glad I waited as the date issue has now been fixed (over lubrication of the date wheel) so I now have the proper straight from the factory working version of this watch.... very happy! One thing I'm griping hard about tho is it was purchased by my partner for my birthday and now I have to hand it back to her and wait for another 6 months... the trials and tribulations of a waiting list 😒
It was not over lubrication FYI, the teeth on the date mechanism are too thin and they basically strip/break causing it to skip. The entire movement is replaced to fix the issue. If there’s a way you can tell the watch was made in the last month or so you should be fine.
@@justinh1258 Fair enough. Strange thing is, I was told it was the over lubrication that caused the problems some people were having. If what you're saying is correct then every single GMT made before the new batch will fail and should have by now... has every single one of them just about failed yet? Chris_Audittr2108 And that alone is fine when they aren’t masquerading in $6k watches where the customer is clearly being ripped with a $200 movement. The argument is not so much the ETA quality but the price of the piece compared to the guts of the watch. Had my TUDOR GMT a month (worn daily) before it began displaying the date issue, gave it to the AD for repair, had it back now for almost a month (worn daily) and no further issue regarding the date sofar. Minor teething issue which I don't mind. It's still the favourite watch in my collection right now.
My date changes just before 2400 hours and it's changing gradually and not an immediate flick. Is this normal? As I find that on the Rolex it's immediate. Any thoughts?
Had mine since July.. Absolutely no issues. I'm confident that if mine ever did develop this issue then warranty or not Tudor would fix it as it's been so widely publicised.
I have the BBBlack in-house and the movement failed after around 3 months post purchase new....... I'll settle for benefit of doubt but strictly speaking not good enough.
My watch has had the issue for the 3rd time after almost 2 years of ownership...of which a year was in service for repairs...after this reoccurrence...safe to say they have a lemon?
I thought mine was working properly until I saw this video.. I started wearing mine to pay more attention to it and it is true!... the date wheel wasn’t working properly...
Check history without making claims like this. Did it happen when it was released or after years of perfecting a movement it hasn’t happened. Big difference.
For people who love their watches and treat them well... ...it is a BIG problem - why? I've seen the repaired watches that came back from service. They looked horrendous, scratches and damaged hands. Unbelievable? Unfortunately not, it's true. BTW: I am talking about serviced Tudor BBGMTs.
JahoyDahoy can’t agree😅 the fact that everyone makes mistake doesn’t make mistakes not mistakes. paying more for luxury brands only because of their quality. if their quality is not up to expectation which commensurate with the price tag, then it is unacceptable😏
@@daveho852 lol i just meant its too optimistic to think luxury watches are going to always be flawless, especially when they try new movements. Would it be nice if it did? Yeah, but if that was the case we wouldnt be getting small upgrades and tweaks to even well-known watches every couple years would we? But i do agree it just sucks that such a glaring error slipped thru. Thank god for warranty 😅
JahoyDahoy 👍🏼understood. flawless is obviously an exaggerated word😅 but this Tudor is many younger gentlemen’s grail watch, saved up long to buy. It is so heart breaking to see it shipped with defeats😭
This Video aged badly. - "guys it's normal that completely new products have flaws" - "they'll most likely redesign the parts" Meanwhile 2022. Even brand new Tudor GMTs have that problem only weeks after purchase .... What a joke of a brand!
I’m sure Rolex/Tudor will overpass that issue on its new in-house calibers. Just like a new car model may gather some youth problems, same thing may happen with watch movements. Having said this, if it was an ETA, everybody would say it was a consequence of not being an in-house “noble” caliber....
I have a new Seamaster 300m Pro diver 2017 model. It has a 2500D omega Co-Axial movement. Why the D as a suffix? Because they had problem with the A,B. and C versions. I have every confidence that Tudor/Rolex will find and fix the problem, and probably eventually come out with their "B" model and life will go on.
I can accept that even the best make a mistake now and then. It's how that mistake is dealt with that makes or breaks them. In my opinion Rolex/Tudor has proven they're broken with this situation. I've spoken with at least a few others who have experienced this same issue, and as far as I've seen, Rolex has shown zero remorse let alone compensation. That is inexcusable, and will likely result in more lost revenue and respect than if they had just apologized and offered a small token of compensation to owners who have dealt with this problem. I for one can say for a fact that they already lost the sale of a Black Bay Bronze that was on my shortlist. By the way, my new Oris Carl Brashear Bronze Chrono is a pretty cool piece.
If this was a brand he disliked the verdict would be different. Buying a watch for 3500 usd that cannot change a date properly is a f-ing disaster, and you know it big boy!
Dragan Matekalo no a disaster is waking up with no food. No job. Your date not changing on a watch that’s under warranty that will be fixed isn’t a disaster. Perspective. 🙈
No new product is perfect irrespective of price but a respectable company like Tudor will I'm sure address any warranty issues. Getting any bad press is never good for a company so I'm sure it will look after its customers. Let's hope your/I'm right.
A $4000-$5000 watch isn't working properly and that isn't something to worry about? I agree it's impossible to offer a perfect product, but it seems that these issues could have easily been detected during the test phase. Tudor wants to present itself as an affordable alternative to Rolex, but can't even offer a watch where the date function is working. Imagine if this happened to Rolex...
I'm surprised to hear that. I think it should be around 2000 when Rolex switched from the adjusted El Primero movement to its own inhouse movement. Around that time Rolex started to place itself in the market as the ultimate (mainstream) luxury watch. It's hard to believe there wouldn't be any backlash if new buyers were confronted with such an issue. I can only say that if this would happen today most of the Rolex buyers would be very vocal about such an issue.
I remember reading about the Rolex Caliber 3186 first iteration showing a problem with the hour hand due to the design of a spring (or it was a date spring?). The part was replaced by a stronger one, so some of the first 3186 had this issue and Rolex replaced the faulty ones. As Federico says...
How’s yours going? I’m going to pull the trigger on one this upcoming week. It’s dated December 2019 so I’m hoping it’s been fixed! Hope you’re enjoying yours!
Matthew Hill how about you? Any issue with your gmt? I also purchased one in November 2019 and just have the date issue and send it to service centre yesterday , really disappointed
Thanks Fed. I have the 1st Gen BB and 1st Gen Pelagos. Love them both. Movement issues aside, personally I think the aesthetics of the new GMT is a bit 'off'. I blame lady gaga
Are those numbers in the right dimensions? Millions to develop a new movement? I could imagine that they don't start up from scratch but with existing basic parts. Or not?
Millions and millions. The parts might not all be different. but there are other costs. Design, research and development, testing, marketing. It is believed to create the most basic time only movement from scratch and take it it into production will cost at least 5 million CHF. At least that is what I have been told by many people in different brands, it seems to be a common saying,
Please dont make excuses for other peoples rubbish. This is a no brainer ...its basic . ETA GOT IT RIGHT YEARS AND YEARS AGO. U sell a lemon, u are not fit sell watches . Lets hold people accountable for their products, not give stupid excuses that in 2018 u cant get the date right.
Mine has been running within 3 sec per week and I have had no date issues. Has been a phenomenal piece for me and I’m sure will be for you too. Just buy from an AD.
Reliable sources say... Rolex didn't start advertising silicon hairsprings until they had been in sold watches for like 5 years.

Love the vids keep em coming
My date changes just before 2400 hours and it's changing gradually and not an immediate flick. Is this normal? As I find that on the Rolex it's immediate. Any thoughts?
Got my gmt in 2020 sent it back for repair, only yesterday,
You should also shine a light on how the Pelagos is having issues with the lume on the bezel falling out. Tudor has too many issues...
Keep up the content Fed! Looking forward to receiving my president DD ;)
One of the BB GMTs I viewed at an AD had a misaligned bezel ...
never really saw the appeal of these over the much more proportionate BB58
Indeed. I will wait (eternally, I fear) for the BB 58 GMT. That would be the perfect one for my wrist.
Nice video Federico. Is the problem solved?
I thought mine was working properly until I saw this video.. I started wearing mine to pay more attention to it and it is true!... the date wheel wasn’t working properly...
I'm happier than ever having the classic BBH watch with the undervalued E.T.A.movement instead of the in-house ones.
Shooting up in value
Sometimes the tried & true ETA's are far better than In-house, it's happened before many times in history...
Federico Talks Watches I have a BB eta blue bezel. So you’re saying the ETA has a potential to also be a good investment?! Awesome
I much prefer the ETA versions and they are worth more.
The thing is, there is no GMT version of the ETA movement with quick set hour hand.
This wouldn’t happen with Grand Seiko.
Sure it would. Lets not be delusional...
@@FedericoTalksWatches Name a Grand Seiko with manufacturing issues then.
Nope. I have many Grand Seiko’s. Zero problems. My Tudor just did this shit. Out for 17 weeks!!! Inexcusable
BTW: I am talking about serviced Tudor BBGMTs.
for some reason, i thought federico was like 48 years old.. not in his early 30's
Jake Smith hair (or lack thereof) and beard can do that for you
Great job Fed!
it’s unacceptable anyway ... luxury watches are meant to flawless
Its just not the case
Tell me what watch company hasnt made a mistake. Shit happens even when you try and try bc lab tests cant perfectly replicate real life application.
JahoyDahoy
can’t agree😅
the fact that everyone makes mistake doesn’t make mistakes not mistakes.
paying more for luxury brands only because of their quality. if their quality is not up to expectation which commensurate with the price tag, then it is unacceptable😏
JahoyDahoy
👍🏼understood. flawless is obviously an exaggerated word😅
but this Tudor is many younger gentlemen’s grail watch, saved up long to buy. It is so heart breaking to see it shipped with defeats😭
This Video aged badly.
- "guys it's normal that completely new products have flaws"
- "they'll most likely redesign the parts"
Meanwhile 2022. Even brand new Tudor GMTs have that problem only weeks after purchase ....
What a joke of a brand!
I’m sure Rolex/Tudor will overpass that issue on its new in-house calibers. Just like a new car model may gather some youth problems, same thing may happen with watch movements. Having said this, if it was an ETA, everybody would say it was a consequence of not being an in-house “noble” caliber....
so 5-6 years from now if youre buying one of these on ebay or wus etc, how would you confirm which movement (1st/repaired/2nd generation?) was inside?
You most likely won't be able to.
My guess is that the new improved version actually works the way it's suppose to.
No problem with mine fwiw.
I've had my Tudor BB GMT for a little over a month now, no issues yet. Knock on wood.
Great video👌thx fed 🔥
Thanks for watching sam!
Federico Talks Watches thank you!!
Does Waldan hold its value?
Is it more likely it’s as simple as a lubrication issue?
Just sent my GMT back to the Rolex service center. Skipping date issue
Ha, and people complain about a misaligned chapter ring on a Seiko.
Saw a BB GMT at an AD with a misaligned bezel last week ... Seiko homage :-)
Hi Federico is this only happening to the GMT movement. Keep up the great work.
These issues have happened in Rolex. The new Daytona movement was troublesome when first released.
🤔🤔🤔 I think... I'll wait
Not a bad idea. regardless though, I think the issues affect a very small % of watches
@@FedericoTalksWatches I was really on to buy the GMT, then I saw the GMT issue question in your live with T3,.So let's see a new batch does.
Have had my GMT for over a year. No problems with it.
Great video by the way! I guess it's part of the buying experience now. New Tudor ad "Buy the new watch and become a beta tester for Tudor!". Lol
I’m picking mine up from AD on Tuesday- will update this comment if have any issues. Absolutely a gorgeous watch
Mine has been fine. Fingers crossed.
Thanks Fed. I have the 1st Gen BB and 1st Gen Pelagos. Love them both. Movement issues aside, personally I think the aesthetics of the new GMT is a bit 'off'. I blame lady gaga
Cmon man! Tudor will not intentionally sue something like that.
No issue with mine
under the lemon tree
"Lemon tree, very bitter"
you can get a grand seiko hibeat gmt for the price of the tudor
You can... but its a very different watch.
and your point is?
You can get GS hibeat GMT for the same price but you get back less when you sell it.
Man those Tudor Pepsi’s are hideous
Quartz ! 😁
Reflects badly on Rolex...but I guess nobody cares as long as they can flip a profit...
Anything that is a cosmetic or function issue with Rolex will later sell high because Rolex dickriders will play it as a rarity and therefore..iconic.
At this price it should be perfect before putting it on the marked, I will get a Rolex and not a Rolex want to be
It's like software, never get the .0 release wait for the update
different industry different standards, imagine an iPhone cant send msgs...
remember iphones that couldnt make a call? All the dropped calls... Thats actually happened.
My gmt has this exact same issue also a bezel issue. Anyone in the comments have this watch also?
No issues with mine
For a watch in this price range this is fucking ridiculous
Just buy pre owned Rolex with movements that have been around decades. That's what Roger Smith reckons anyway, whoever he is.
Thinking of getting a gmt
I think it'll be a great piece.
Mine has been running within 3 sec per week and I have had no date issues. Has been a phenomenal piece for me and I’m sure will be for you too. Just buy from an AD.
