- The recent firmware update for the ALM Busy Circuits MFX inspired me to make the long overdue deep-dive video series of the multi-fx module. In today's video I tackle the delay algorithms as well as giving a brief overview of the functions. Join me next week for the many reverb algorithms. Please like, comment and subscribe! Thanks!

this is great! ALM is making some of the coolest modules right now imo
Thanks! Part 2 coming this Sunday 😉

You are the master of eurorack FX! 😎
haha thank you!! :D
How would you compare this against the FX Aid? Seems like the FX Aid has more hands on control and on 4HP, but MFX has more CV options and if you go through the menus, you can get very fine control of the effects.
I have the virtual version of this in VCV, and the algorithms are top drawer, but it's infuriating to use! The GUI makes no sense in software and it feels like they kind of did half a job. It's a shame because the chorus in particular and some of the 80s style reverbs are superb. That trick with modulating the bandwidth parameter on the first delay to get the glitchy octave effect is one of my favourite things, but it doesn't remember the settings, so every time you load a patch you have to right click in the menu and set everything back. Sorry for a slightly OT rant but imagine you're using 9 of these in a patch and they all forget what they're doing. Argh!
Also I'm yet to get anything useful out of the crumbular delay mode, other than that it's great. Nice video as usual 😉
I believe the latest firmware has a preset loader, but that was my biggest gripe with the MFX was constantly adjusting everything all the time, doesn't make it easy especially trying to remember what everything does and sounds like.
Brilliant! Stop costing me money....!!!!! No, I will be restrained. I will not give in to temptation... oh damnit!!!
Haha I’m sorry! One more little module won’t hurt tho! 😃
Looking forward to this, would you consider doing a video on Maths sometime?
It's been on my to-do list for a while. I'll nudge it higher up the list :)
Superb

I have one critique of the MFX, and it‘s not something I knew about before testing. Its analog output is way too _quiet_. So much so that it really makes it hard to A/B things, because everything always sounds worse through it. Yeah, I know, it‘s just human psychology (acoustology?) and quieter doesn‘t mean worse, but I‘m a simple guy and I have gut reactions to things. And I‘m sure others do, too. All I‘m saying is: keep that in mind, and ALM if you‘re listening, you should‘ve worked a bit more on that. Kisses.
I love that this comment ends with “kisses” 🤣
It sounds quieter on every algorithm? Some of them have makeup gain settings. I also noticed that it’s really easy to clip the input stage. The red lights will flash on the front
So it has on or off but no wet/dry control? That seems a pity!
It does have a mix control if I remember rightly...
There’s a dry/wet parameter in every algorithm, but not a dedicated knob.
@@TheUnperson That's still where FX Aid and Z5000 score! (Although the ALM does sound good)😎
