Fomallos and Lurallos are adorable! The extra detail of Lurallos' posture completely changing upon showing its true self just makes it even better. Gosh I wish they were real, I can't imagine how soft/fluffy a plush of one would be lol
I already love Lurantis, but Lurallos is pretty much a cooler version. Pokemon just needs to steal this idea and make it real lol

Ex: diglett lives on the land while wiglett lives partially in the water
Fomallos and Lurallos are so good! The concept is so clever and they keep everything I love about the Lurantis line while still being very different concepts. I especially love when Lurallos reveals its spider form. I'll admit that when I first looked at Fomallos I thought it was a sheep, so I'd say the camouflage works 😂

The funny thing is feels like we’ve had convergent Pokémon for forever (all the regional rodents, birds, pika clones etc) but this is the first time it’s been “explicit” it’s cool either way cause we can take it a step further BUT we have a wealth of other options since forever hidden in the stands.

my region has a convergent seal mon based on the Lillipup line. Names were hard but the idea was just so good

As a fan of Lurantis and a fan of Kamen Rider, I love the ideas you put onto them. The Lurallos idea is just so good and makes me wish we get one of similar idea soon. As for Obsedian, I appreciate your research upon Kuuga, though I'd wish Obsedia was a white color to reference Kuuga's growing form but it is still good. Thank you for these ideas and bringing them to life

I'm glad you mentioned the type effectiveness relationship between the convergent Pokémon and their counterparts - however one criticism: you have Clocnea as a pure ice type, which is super effective against the pure grass type Cacnea, but then Clocturne is Ice/Psychic, which is both weak to and super effective against the Grass/Dark Cacturne.
I think it would make more sense if Clocturne was either Ice/Fairy or Ice/Fighting, so it can keep the super effectiveness over the Grass/Dark Cacturne. Right? Let me know what you think.

Same thing with Probopeck:
It is Flying/Grass, which doesn't quite add up. Flying is definitely weak to Rock, but Grass is super effective against Rock. And neither are super effective or weak against the Steel secondary typing of Probopass.
I think a Flying/Rock or Flying/Ice type here would make sense, because then both types would then be weak against each of Probopass's original types.
For Toedscruel, it is Grass/Ground, and the Grass is super effective against the Water type of Tentacruel, and the Ground is super effective against the Poison type.
Same thing too for Obsedyba and Obsedian (love those names by the way, Obsidian is my favorite naturally occurring rock formation!) -
the Rock is super effective against both the Bug and Flying types of Ledyba and Ledian, however the Fighting type is weak to the Flying type.
I think Fire/Rock would fit perfectly with the concept of Obsidian rock, which is formed when lava/magma is cooled, and then the Fire would be super effective against the Bug, and the Rock would be super effective against the Flying, so the original typings would be covered.
One thing I'd love to see is a Pokemon that fully goes into Batesian mimicry (a harmless creature taking on the appearances of something else that's disgusting or dangerous).
For example, we could have a Normal-Type snake Pokemon that takes on the appearance of Ekans and/or Arbok (referencing the harmless Milk Snake that takes on the color patterns of the venomous Coral Snake). Could even have an Ability that references the mimicry; make it so Fighting type moves against it (which is normally super effective against Normal types) are treated as not very effective (since Fighting moves aren't very effective against Poison types).
Lutantis actually DOES use offensive mimicry, according to their pokedex, they use the disgyise of being a bug in order to attack and eat bug pokemon, like a venus flytrap! At least, as far as i remember.
There is a mix on their dex entries. In some it says it uses it for defense, in SV it changes.
I just also need to say as another toku fan to another that Ledian in its base form is also a toku/Kamen rider reference!
They take clear inspiration from Electro Wave Human Tackle, the first woman coprotagonist of Kamen Rider! She herself would’ve taken on the title of Kamen Rider if not for her show getting it’s episode count slashed by network.
Several people just tend to gloss over this part of Ledian’s inspiration so I keep needing to infodump over it.

While tentacruels water type is trumped by grass, the water type beats its ground type, and while the ground trumps poison, poison trumps the grass typing.

Based on earthworms (or earth*wyrms* in this case), sandworm monsters, and the whale fossils found in the Wadi Al-Hitan, a desert in Egypt
Shared adaptation: Blowhole for expelling sand and blubber for water retention.
Regional variants, convergent evolution, man I can't wait what Pokémon and fans will think of next

While the names may change too much, how about "Lottoree" and "Whinsalott" for a bingo/lottery machine converge of cottonee and whimsicott? Steel/flying? Lottoree would be one of the balls that gets mixed around within Whinsalott, the cage with the dispenser.

I had a Bellsprout convergent evolution idea where it uses some sort of cute mascot or whatever to lure children/pokemon in, and eat them. To fit with the "The convergent is effective against the original" theme, it can also fly.

I actually tried my hand at making a convergent Pokemon myself not too long ago. I haven't been able to come up with a decent name for it yet, but basically it's a Bug type convergent evolution to Spinda that's based on the panda ant. I figured this would be a fitting design concept as Spinda is already partially based on a panda itself, and panda ants get their name due to their fuzzy white and black bodies. And side note, I should mention that panda ants aren't actually ants at all: they're really a species of wasp. And the reason they're called "ants" is because of their sexual dimorphism: the males have wings but the females don't, and as such they look more like ants than wasps. So taking a bug that resembles a different kind of bug on top of bearing a color scheme of a completely different animal? Seems like a perfect design inspiration for a convergent evolution to me. 😁
But like I said before, the only issue with this Pokemon I've had is that I've been having a hard time trying to come up with a good name for it. If anyone as any potential suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

I think that people dont understand what convergent evolution in Pokémon is. Let me explain:
In the two examples we got in S/V, it was a terrestrial Pokémon adapting to the water and an aquatic pokémon adapting to land (wiglet and Toedscruel) It isn't a Pokémon adapting to look like something else, no thats just a regional form. For example Cacturne becoming a clock-like thing won't make sense, it has to adapt to the *WATER*
I think you are being a bit too literal with it. The idea is that a convergent mon changes the entire concept of the original Pokemon, kind of flipping the idea on it head a bit (like with the type)
@@PragMagikget your point, but a lot of people agree on this idea. Plus it happens in real life too. Dolphins are just terrestrial mammals that adapted to the water to look like sharks. There's a cool video by N0Rtist explaining this. I totally respect your idea. Plus it makes for freer ideas, which is all what Fakemon is known for!

Funny enough I thought if make a Swoobat convergent based on trickster rabbits/hares. Becoming the opposite of Swoobat spreading hate and anger instead of love and joy like Swoobat and Woobat
An interesting thing I noticed that most people don't use when making convergent pokemon is the fact that no one seems to do the opposite colorscheme that the two use.
You did it with the Woobat/Swoobat convergent line but it fell off after that. If you notice a pair like Wiglett and Wugtrio - their two main colors are swapped upon evolution;white and pink. Same could go for Toedscool with the peach and yellow.
This isnt a complaint by the way I love the designs for the fakemon you guys came up with, the artists should feel very proud!! Just found that to be an interesting concept I haven't seen anyone pick up on yet- ^^"
I’ve been working with the idea of a Shuckle convergent design where the holes on the back are actually the eyes and the old head is some sort of antenna. I haven’t fully come up with it but I’m thinking about it being upside down and being based on drones where the arms are now fans like a drone and now it’s a fast but frail flying type (not sure the second type. I was experimenting with the head and arms actually being lava but that doesn’t work with the drone). I think Probopeck is the best in your group. I love seeing the potential for convergent Pokémon to mess with silhouette and make a wing into an arm or something and that’s the one where you do it best
Man, I hope Gamefreak decide to do a convergent evolutionary line for Nidoking and Nidoqueen someday in the near future. Nidoking is my 4th favorite Pokemon and those 6 have such cool, but easily changeable/tweakable, designs. They also have so many mysterious inspirations in some aspects. It's one of the original Pokemon with a lot behind it but that still looks fairly basic.
I know it kind of gets into Kanto pandering, but I got a few convergents I want to share that keep the apparent rules of the existing ones into consideration
* A Grass type Krabby convergent that when it becomes a Kingler convergent it gets somewhat of a beard and spikes as a nod to Gigantamax Kingler. It's based on crab grass (so a *literal* Grass type) and the shears become a pun on the term "blade of grass"
* A Psychic/Rock Voltorb convergent. It is weak to the regional variant of Voltorb instead of regular Voltorb. And Rock type comes from its inspiration; a crystal ball. Also why it is primarily Psychic
* A Rock/Electric Budew convergent. It is meant to represent both a desert rose to keep in with being a Roselia convergent mon, and it has petals of quartz that is a nod to quartz being used in batteries and electronics
In terms of the cactime vs clockturne naming pattern u spoke about, I wouldn't say it's a set pattern, I think it's like that on the 2 that we saw bc their original forms have that type of naming scheme 4:35

Imagine a plastic bag convergent form of Bramblin and Bramblghast called "Brambag" and "Baggleghast" (all 2 names coming from the original names but adding Bag instead of Bramble)
To use this as a further example, the name would more so be something like Baglin and Baggleghast.
I absolutely LOVE. The convergent form of Lurantis! The colors, concept and just everything IS AMAZING. And Lurantis being one of my favorite Pokémon I gives it extra point ^^
I love all of the concepts in this video, but Woobuzz and Swoobuzz are definitely my favorite
Also, I do think there’s a logic behind the convergent typings, but my interpretation is a bit different.
Diglett and Dugtrio are pure Ground types, while Tentacool and Tentacruel are Water types with a secondary Poison type. For the convergents, this is swapped. The Wiglett line is pure Water, while the Toedscool line is Ground with a secondary type, in this case Grass. The fact that Toedscool is primarily Ground, even though primary Grass would seemingly make more sense for a mushroom, is what convinces me this was the intention.
i found another pattern, diglet is ground type, toadscool is ground type, tentacool is water type, wiglet is water type, both are two phase evolution lines that come in pares and both diglet and tentacool are from the same region, coincidence? I THINK NOT!!!

I’ve figured something out wigglet has igglet from digglet and the same for toadscool and toadscruel and wugtrio so the first word of the Pokémon is a new name and the last one is the og name
If I were to make a convergent pokemon I’d choose squirtle, make it a normal ground and call it tuirrtle
I’m working on a South American based region and made a convergent pelipper line based on the three wattled bellbird called Singull and Belliper.
since I was using 3 convergent lines for my fakemon region, I am thankful for (most) of the rules, because the 3-stage line that I made for Shinx and based on Octopi and the names were really hard, so I am ignoring the name rule for at least that line, but Koffee and Holdeen are keeping the to at least one of the naming rules
A shiny form for obsedian could make it a deep green, making reference to Kamen Rider OOO GataKiriBa form
I have an idea for new convergent pokemon, meet the poison/ dark type, tarmander, tarmeleon and tarizard. The coal tar pokemon. The life sustaining fire on a charmanders tail can ignite tar and giving it sentience. For unknown reasons this tar chooses to look like a distorted charmander. Tarmander evolves when learning a move called splutter it evolves further if it levels up with a pure fire type in the party, the evolutions have an ability called smokers cough which lowers defense and accuracy if a fire type is on your team
Also a fun little detail you coud've miss'd is that all the real convergent pokemon that exist are all 2 stage pokemon like their unconvergent counterparts
We need a 100% male version of Tinkaton based on lumberjacks which steals axes from Kleavor and puts metal parts on them, and then it destroys trees. It gets annoyed by chopping on Sudowoodo.
loved this.. actually funny enough I just made my own convergent mon yesterday. I based it off Luvdisc, but gave it a evo as well. It starts off as jsut a Water type when it evo's its a water/dark. but maybe i should try to adjust that a bit, however you can tell it's suppose to be in the water. I just keep thinking Luvdisc should or could be given a new evo, but only because of it's convergent rival being a threat to it. The mon mimics the appearance of Luvdisc a lot and when it evos' the end of it's tail really looks like a full on Luvdisc that it uses to lure prey to itself, given Luvdisc are retty docile and come across weak. Luvdisc now have to evo to try and gain an upper hand on it's convergent counter part. I would happily send this concept over to you if you ever wanted to take a look at it. I never came up with a name for either of the mons.

Using Zabee as an example of an enemy Rider that becomes an ally may not be the best example, given how many characters became Zabee. Kamen Riders Grease and Rogue would be a better example of that.

I'm a little bit confused by Clocnea/Clocturne. I understand the reference to Salvador Dali's "The Persistence of Memory", but I would've loved to see a steel/electric/psychic type convergent Cacnea/Cacturne based on the same concept.

In my head lays a convergent evolutionary line based on Zubat, Dracula, and vampire bats. Zudrac, Goldrac, and Crodrac have the dark/flying type, but learn psychic fangs by leveling up.

Fomallos and luralos look so adorable in my opinion and the fact they are fluffy wolf spiders makes me want to be hugged by one (specifically luralos)

Also, Poltchageist and Sinistcha shatters many of these rules.
I'm pretty sure, dodonzo is wishi washi, the weird ice dino is that metal dino from swsh, etc. So it's not only those two lines you mentioned
I had the idea for a convergent roggenrola called rockenrola. Works better if there was a sound type but add normal on to it for stab sound based moves
Actually, most Showa Kamen Riders (Kamen Riders before Kuuga) had that bug theming to them. And if you want to go a bit more modern, Kamen Rider Zero-One's base form is a grasshopper which is a bug.

My shorthand for designing convergent Fakemon is "convergent forms are about losing Who's That Pokémon"
I have two ideas for my own region, having the two versions be forms of one Ultra beast known as "UB-00 Hero" and the big bad being "UB-XX ???/ Monster/ Invader". 00 being a mon that chased XX to the planet to try and stop it from destroying everything. With the two being locked in eternal conflict. The evil team wishes to push their total equity plan through with the overwhelming power of XX while the player has 00 helping them to stop the malicious scheme. Took some The Next, Nexus and Noa ques for 00.
Idea: Turning Swinub and Piloswine into a grass-type Pinub and Pilopine.

So a flying type pokemon would have a rock or electric type convergent form. So we could take Talonflame, a Fire Flying type, and make Talonsplash, a Water Rock type
I have a few convergent Pokemon ideas
A litleo and pyroar convergent evolution based off lion fish (water/poison)
A finneon and lumineon convergent evolution based on peacock butterflies (pure bug)
A kricketot and kricketune convergent evolution made out of sticks (pure grass type, called sticketot and sticketune)
And a convergent cottonee an whimsicott based off rotting fruit (poison dark, called rottenee amd whimsirott)
A convergent line of natu and xatu based off fruit bats
I came up with a termite mound and anthill based convergent mon for the Sandygast line
Swarmygast
Palosswarm
Both are bug/ground
I *love* the concept behind Fomallos and Lurallos. I think the design/execution might need a little work to perfect it.

I sort of think Convergent pokemon just over complicate things, like regional varriants and regional evolutions were fine as they were but we have convergent pokemon
who are regional varriants except not not really, except sort of kind of.
I wish Fomallos and Lurallos were real! They are so cute, and fluffy, but also dangerous, they perfectly fit to pokemon!

I NEEEEED more Tokusatsu/Super Sentai/KR inspired mons! I totally named my Lokix Rise after KR Zero-One's Rising Hopper... so a Kuuga inspired Ledian variant is totally my jam! Loved it!
I just straight up named mine Aruto. And then I've been catching more and naming them after various Riders and tossing them into Wonder Trade. Or I guess it's surprise trade now. Really don't like that they changed that.
I came up with a new Pokemon that is a single stage Pokemon but is convergent of a two stage Pokemon.
Spinados: based upon a combination of Spinarak and Ariados but with Wolfman facial hair. Has two forms: Hairless and Hairy. Hairless have higher attack and special attack than Hairy while Hairy have higher defense and special defense than Hairless. The Speed stat is the same form both forms.
Type: Bug/Normal
Category: The Friendly Pokemon
Abilities: Swarm/Normalize
Hidden Ability: Tangling Hair
Can learn the same bug moves that is available to Spinarak, Ariados, Joltik, Galvantula, Dewpider, Araquanid, Tarountula, and Spidops except Silk Trap but as far as other types of moves that the other spiders can do, it can learn Toxic Thread via breeding. Has a new Signature Move called Tickle Tackle: Normal. Causes damage and lowers the same stats that Tickle does.

Scarlet: This Pokemon is known for being friendly with all children but feared by adults for stories of this Pokemon attacking adults that hurt other people or Pokemon.

This is the best video on divergent pokemon I’ve seen. Not only have you put in effort to recognise what elements gamefreak have been tying to this concept to make these Pokemon similarly classified, but you’ve also avoided the trap that many fall into, which is making these Pokemon look unrecognisable from the base form.
And I really appreciate you speaking on things like the naming, as it makes your ideas feel way more authentic and would be good to see others follow.
I’d go as far as to say others Fakemon SHOULD follow this pattern, as they’d be failing the assignment, so to speak, otherwise.
