Turning the Magikarp into a Japanese fish kite and Gyrados into a dragon dancer... so creative! I love them! Subbed, I can't wait to see what you'll do next!
So, a few things: 1. Congratulations on having a hit video! It's always such a big milestone for early content creators, I hope it's the one you feel most proud of making. 2. These fakemon designs are peak, Gaelados does feel like something is off about it, but I felt the same about Toedscruel too because I'm too used to Tentacruel, and Gyarados is a hard design to match because of how much detail it has. But I absolutely love all four of them! I'm shocked GF didn't make a Magikarp Convergent Evolution line either since it has so much potential, and you found literally the BEST CONCEPT EVER. As for Driflagoon and Drifswim, be proud of those names lol. I absolutely love the contrast between not only it and Drifloon and Drifblim, but Driflagoon and Drifswim themselves. 3. Be proud of your work, and the presentation with the Pokedex pages was so good, never seen a Fakemon Poketuber use a Pokedex voice for their style, so it helps set you apart, even if it was a bit jarring at first. Like and Sub well earned!
About point 2, when people data mined Scarlet and Violet they found out that in the game's code, Toedscool and Toedscruel are called OKAKINGU and OKAGYARADOSU.
I think what feels off the most about these 2 for me is the insides of their mouths. Just compare it to Gyarados and other usual mouth designs. I guess it should still be different since it is meant to be inorganic but maybe changing it up a little will give off a different impression on a whole EDIT: Changing Gaelados shiny variant to complete red to reference chinese new years customs instead of shiny Magikarp would possibly also work better. Adding some gold to make it stick out more and not blend in with shiny Gyarados and its regular version should do the trick.
A really thoughtful comment. I was also surprised to see how new his channel is, the presentation is so polished - subscribed immediately. I was taken aback by the Pokédex voiceover at first but it’s so charming and reminiscent of the anime, it brings so much life to the fakemon descriptions/lore.
I love the colours, Driflagoon and Drifswim look so underwater and mobile while Magikite and Gaelados look as if they are make of paper and glide on the current of a gentle breeze, the shape language is perfect and it makes me like Drifblim and Gyarados even more. You also nailed the official Pokémon style and shading. Really top tier, official-looking designs
I absolutely ADORE your concepts for Magikite and Gaelados, they fit so well within the Pokemon world and are very fun designs. You did an amazing job on them!
Im lowk bummed out cuz i am currently making a fan game of pokemon and i made a flying water wiscash, and made a beta design for the barboach as a kite fish months ago and this is way better lmao
Driflagoon and Drifswim are definitely my favorite, they feel the most convergent to me, they feel like actual evolutionary coincidences unlike the official ones in S/V. You did a FANTASTIC job with these, heres your sub doc.
Yeah, the ones in S/V just feel like Paldaen Forms. Galaran Ponyta feels more like a different pokemon that just happens to like a Ponyta while those ‘new’ ones are more similar to Alolan Meowth where they look the same, just a different color and a couple extremely small design changes that you barely notice. If they had them look a little more different and potentially have a different looking evolution path then I’d think they were different enough, but no Wiglett is just a white Diglett, Wigtrio is just a red Dugtrio and those other two look like jellyfish on land and not enough to suggest a mushroom since I had to read more to figure out what made them ‘different pokemon’
Dang, for how good of an artist you are, you deserve more subscribers. You nailed the concept of convergent Pokémon and the art style is extremely convincing for Pokémon! Love your ideas! I hope you gain more support as you go on!
oh my god the names for all of these dudes are so good edit: I do feel like Gaelados' face does look a tiny bit weird (I think its the eyes and the size of the forehead tbh) but Magikite is not only the best name, but the best design here, I absolutely adore him and I want 10 of them
As someone who watches a ton of fakemon content, Magikite and Gaelados are by far my favorite concepts I’ve seen in a long time, and they look incredible! Take my sub!
It seems like you hit algorithmic gold with this :) Love that you made all the art yourself. With Galeados would it perhaps look a bit better if he had a strip of fur running down the middle of his head to his nose?
Magikite is SO cute!! 10/10 would have him on my team. And having it evolve into another celebratory decoration makes so much sense! I love them conceptually and in their designs. If I had to give a critique, it might be to work the scalloped edge “scale” layers into more of a textural element in Gaelados’s outline/overall silhouette so it would have a bit more depth, but it’s very nice as is too, where the smooth look conveys more of a man-made feel of puppet pieces linked together.
I LOVE these design concepts, they’re super cool and if they were real I’d totally use them on my team!! They’d fit so well into the Pokémon universe, you 100% should be proud of your work I’ve never seen someone use the Pokédex voice which is something I also really enjoyed because it makes it even more unique compared to other fakemon videos Congratulations on the hit video, it was well deserved. You’ve definitely earned the sub
I really love all of these designs! Each and everyone one of them! I know you weren't fully satisfied with how the Gyarados art came out, but the CONCEPT is beyond perfection! I am looking forward to seeing more from you, and have confidence you will (eventually) get the inspiration needed to take your Gyarados design where you want it to be! Happy to be a new subscriber!
I’m truly impressed. This showed up in my UA-cam recommended, and I clicked. I was not disappointed! I’m a digital artist as well, so I noticed that you weren’t using pen pressure (at latest that’s what it looked like), which just makes this more impressive. Doubly if you were using a mouse. The colors are great as well! At the end, I found myself looking between Magikite and Gaelados a bunch and loving how different yet related they looked based on color alone. The real head on Drifswim is adorable and I like the idea of it having a false head. And it and Driflagoon have fabulous names. Genius. XD +1 Sub
I hope this video draws the same attention your other one did! you're very good at emulating the pokemon style while still being creative with your own ideas. I think the concept of a driftloon that is kelp is a very solid one, but the magikarp is just genius. If i could offer some critisism, I think part of the reason you don't like gaelados is the face; it has the wide open mouth of gyarados but its eyes aren't as aggressive and are quite cutesy. While I understand this is to represent gaelados' more passive and timid nature, the combination of the two features make its face feel void of any real emotion or personality. I think either giving it the classic gen 1 eyes or making the shape of its mouth more akin to a smile might help convey the personality that is lacking in your otherwise amazing and unique design
You doing great! not only you managed to give convergence evolution a great use, you gave sense to it! honestly all four of them are amazing and i fell in love with magikite's desing, is just so clever
One twist that might have been funny for the Driflagoon line: How about Drifloon/Drifblim, but upside-down. Basically, use the heads, especially the clouds of the originals, as the holdfasts of the kelp and have the arms lifted up by the air bladders.
i can definitely tell that this guy is going to get big one day. Your art is amazing and the concepts are great! btw the pokedex voice is very clever :)
I think you picked the perfect time to do this video style, pike art has been way more popular than before and the new games have definitely brought the convergent evolution to everyone’s imagination and wanting to see more! I hope you continue to grow in you channel friend!👍🏼
when i tell you these are so good, but the ENTIRE magikarp line… the names, the concepts, pokédex entries…genuinely very impressive❤️could see these being real pokémon! absolutely amazing work my friend :)
Great stuff, my dude!! I have a suggestion for your Gaelados, perhaps you could change the black fur stuff to more of like a classic depiction of air, y’know, like the swirly stuff and whatnot? It may also look good for the backfins, as well. Perhaps that would make the design be a little more cohesive and look better for you, IDK, just something you can think about if you’d like. Great work, tho, keep it up!! :)
The concept on Gaelados is great, and the colors are actually fantastic. I love the contrast between that dark blue fur, the white streamers, and all the other bright, saturated colors. Yellow was a good choice for the lips. I do agree there's something slightly off with the rendition of the face, but that's a pretty small problem considering how cool the rest of the design looks. And by the way, all the other designs (especially Magikite and Driflagoon) are fantastic as well.
You've no shortage of creativity. The way you pull your designs from real-life inspirations is a testament to how well these designs work in the world of Pokemon. It's incredible to think that you've thought of these designs in such a short time considering Gaelados took you 10 hours.
Honestly this may be one of my favorite fakemon art videos not because of the art (though I absolutely love the art too) but because your process seems more realistic or feasible, most fakemon artists just feel unnaturally good at art and watching your work it feels more down to earth and something I could really learn from, sorry if none of what I’ve said makes sense, basically I really like your work and process
Not only you were blessed by recommendations, I feel like everyone here did, the designs are amazing and I love your art! Wish to see more of your ideas
That Magikarp one is absolutely genius, particularly the fact the you even incorporated its splashing about in the new design. For Gyarados, I think you could’ve leaned into more of an origami theme, as it looks like you were kinda going that way, but only half committed to it. Enjoyable video, all the same!
Congrats on blowing your goal out of the water man, and keep up the great art videos. With respect to Galeados, the fur tufts on the back seem very our of place, I get the design direction for them but they clash with the rest of the in-organic look. Perhaps having them look more like paper or confetti would help. Secondly you should include the types in the pokedex page, I loved seeing you include the abilities which add alot of character to the designs, and doing convergants in pairs could add alot of duality to the designs as sewn here. However if you decide to tackle a three stage mon, perhaps only focus on just that one for the video so you don't get burn out. Lastly, convergent evolution and paradox form videos will be a great way to grow your channel for the foreseeable future, but consider if you want to focus only on pokemon or branch out into other things. I highly recommend Subjectively's channel for inspiration and a look at what your future could hold in store for you
Love the execution of concepts! For Gaelados I think changing up the way it's posed to imply more intricate mesmerizing movement would help in showing off the character you've made for it.
Absolute bangers right here, your artstyle is a bop my guy. I always love seeing UA-camrs react to videos getting lots of views and then having another video blow up even more Subbed!
I love how, however intentional or unintentional, all these Pokémon are based not just based on the concept of convergent evolution, but the names themselves are inspired by us as observers and viewers so easily confusing these creatures as being related because of their similarities, to the point we give them similar names! It's both simple and effective as a naming convention for convergent-Pokémon, with real world history and etymology behind it, which is always a huge plus in my book! Though of course, it subverts the actual concept; deliberately designing a similar creature instead of mere happenstance and coincidence.
I love the concepts behind each of these new lines. Pokémon is so cool the way it inspires creativity like this. Subscribed for sure, keep making content it’s sick.
I love all four of these! They're very unique, and I love how you try to match the actual game style! My favorite is definitely magikite! Gaelados is also really cool; the only thing is that the eyes are kind if throwing me off. But, your designs are amazing!
I adore these designs! I honestly adore the designs of Drifloon and Magikarp and their respective evolutions a ton, and seeing their convergents... sorta type swapped was really cool! Magikite is absolutely adorable, and I'd love a real plushie of it!
This is honestly some of the coolest things I’ve seen in a while! Love the designs and the ideas/inspiration for them 👍🏼 And congrats on the 100K(+) Views on this one. It certainly deserves it 👍🏼
Convergent forms are the upgraded Regional Variants, new forms of familiar mons but not tied to specific regions. I love these concepts, keep it up and hope you get more recognized on here. Followed!
[Pokemon The Movie 2000] had Gyrados replace the dragon puppet used in those dances, so having a Gyrados that resembles those puppets is a pretty jump.
These are all so good! I'm a huge bio nerd so I love the concept of regional forms and convergent evolution lines and you knocked it out of the park! I also love crafting Fakemon names and all 4 were absolutely perfect too 👌
Congratulations on this video being a hit as well!! With it having such a higher view count than the last one i can only imagine how happy you must be ❤️❤️❤️ it's very much deserved too!
I absolutely love these! I think my favorite thing about Driflagoon and Drifswim is that their natural look is so similar to shiny Drifloon's color scheme! Amazing work!
Congrats on your first six-digit-view video! I found this randomly from the algorithm and I'm glad you were blessed by it because you're really good at art! The Pokedex voice was a great touch, too
Magikite and Gaelados are exactly the kinds of awesome concepts I'd expect out of GameFreak if they hopefully continue this convergent evolution idea into future generations of Pokemon. Great work on all of your designs, and congrats on the recent growth of your channel!
THE DRIFLAGOON/DRIFSWIM WAS SO AMAZING!!! If I encountered one in a Pokémon game it would be an immediate final team member!!! There might be a little bias since I ADORE grass types, but also I'm an Envi Sci major, and algae in general is just really interesting to me because of how it functions, and how it can be used really effectively to help reduce some environmental issues, but it is also an environmental issue in other areas. Essentially algae is fascinating because it CAN be really useful to the environment, but because of things like agricultural runoff and lack of riparian zones around streams, we see algae blooms that drive off or kill fish. Then, since the algae forms in an overabundance, it dies and starts rotting on top of the water, polluting it and creating CO2 emissions... So humans tampering with nature caused a good thing to become a bad thing in nature. HOWEVER, Algae farms have been pitched as a possible solution to predicted food shortages due to overpopulation, and scientists have been looking at the potential for using algae as a biofuel for A LONG TIME. While I am far more partial to renewable energy, we need to transition there somehow! So yeah! Sorry for the very long blurb.
these are incredible!! they look like they’d actually be in a game. they should totally hire you to design pokémon. this is awesome and i’d absolutely play a pokémon game with your designs in it ☺️☺️☺️
I definitely just subbed, but you deserve a lot more subs based solely on the fact that you do the description on the Pokédex voice. I got such a blast of nostalgia, thanks dude. Oh yea, the art was amazing too.
Magikite and Gaelados are my favorite! I want to use them in a playthrough! Great designs, great colors, and I love the kite/dragon puppet concepts! So cool!
2k views in 4 weeks? Nah, instead you shall hit the algorithm this time and get 108k in 5 days. Also love all the designs, you got yourself a new sub, can’t wait to see more of your fakemon.
These are pretty cool. Fun fact; In the data of Scarlet and Violet, Toedscool and Toedscruel are referred to internally as OKAKINGU and OKAGYARADOSU (Magikarp’s Japanese name is Koiking). Because of this, it’s speculated that we were originally supposed to get convergent counterparts of Magikarp and Gyarados, but they were ultimately replaced with counterparts for Tentacool and Tentacruel.
Really glad that this popped up in my recommended, your designs are all really really cool and I'm definitely going to check out your other videos. For someone with a pretty small backlog and not many subscribers the quality of this video was really really high. Subscribed and I'm hoping to see a lot more from you, magikite Is one of my favorite fakemon I've seen in a while. Such a cool idea and it really feels like it fits in the world of pokémon, and the driftswim line is so cool too.
Congrats on the channel growth in such a short time span! Your designs are all incredibly done and brilliant, I feel you on how hard it is to come up with them...
Driflagoon, Driftswim and Magikite are fantastic. I feel for Gaelados what's missing is the body feels too normal. What I would recomend is to have the ribbons flowing out from behind the head and inside those are only a few lanterns getting smaller as you move down the design only to end at a decorated tail, that resembles Garadoses tail, like a fan or something of the like
very happy to see how well this video did after you started it by being happy about 2k views. Love the concept here, you deserve the views your getting.
The driflagoon line is perfect. Sound lore, awesome design, miles better than the convergent lines we got in SV. I think the magikite line would fit more as a regional variant tho. The only thing of note that regular magikarp does is jump high so it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that a regional variant evolved to maximize jump height, eventually just becoming a flying type. Still, it looks great
I think I've just found my new favourite art YTer! Great job dude! I love all of these concepts, but my favourite has got to be Drifswim, such an amazing idea to make the dots into a fake face!
Magikite!! 😍😍😍 I want to fly it around at the park, its design is co cute and has got to be my favorite of the bunch. That said, all of them are great and you should be proud! And as an artist myself, when you said you were over it after working 10 hours on your last concept...I felt that. I'm extremely slow + a huge perfectionist. My sketches alone take several hours so I rarely complete anything 😭
Your art is amazing. Each design in the video looked like it could be official, Especially Driflagoon and Drifswim. You’ve got yourself a subscriber my guy. Cant wait to see more content in the future
Im loving this! Please consider making this into a series! Im going to check out your other videos! I hope your channel blows up because your work is professional!!
Turning the Magikarp into a Japanese fish kite and Gyrados into a dragon dancer... so creative! I love them! Subbed, I can't wait to see what you'll do next!
I actually thought they would make a regional form like that in a region for China.
That’s an idea done in Pokémon insurgence!
I agree 100% I like these ones a lot better than the originals 🎉😊😎🤗

The difference between the Views of this Video and the Holiday themed ones is astounding! You really landed a big hit with this one!
Was just thinking that! Hearing him get excited about 2k and then seeing 150k really was a feel good moment

I love how Gyarados is a big bundle of rage while Gaelados is calm.

I always love seeing UA-camrs react to videos getting lots of views and then having another video blow up even more
Subbed!
These concepts are genius! They feel very much in line with pokemon design logic
I love these designs! They genuinely look like the could be real pokemon and would be really cool to have in game!
I love these! Divergent Pokemon evolution is one of the best ideas they have had in quite some time.
This dude is out here making better designs than most Pokemon. These look phenomenal and I wish they were actually in S/V
I love the concepts behind each of these new lines. Pokémon is so cool the way it inspires creativity like this. Subscribed for sure, keep making content it’s sick.
These designs are insanely good! Great job! This is so cool to see other people's takes on the original concepts
I love all four of these! They're very unique, and I love how you try to match the actual game style! My favorite is definitely magikite! Gaelados is also really cool; the only thing is that the eyes are kind if throwing me off. But, your designs are amazing!
I’m so proud of you, friend! You’re getting the recognition you deserve. You came a long way and I’m so happy for you. Keep it up!
I adore these designs!
I honestly adore the designs of Drifloon and Magikarp and their respective evolutions a ton, and seeing their convergents... sorta type swapped was really cool!
Magikite is absolutely adorable, and I'd love a real plushie of it!
I love Drifswim the most! Adding the little face being the real face was the best possible design decision!
This is honestly some of the coolest things I’ve seen in a while! Love the designs and the ideas/inspiration for them 👍🏼
And congrats on the 100K(+) Views on this one. It certainly deserves it 👍🏼
Convergent forms are the upgraded Regional Variants, new forms of familiar mons but not tied to specific regions. I love these concepts, keep it up and hope you get more recognized on here. Followed!
these designs are amazing, this is the type of creativity I have been missing the Pokémon community lately.
Everything about this video is great. I especially love how you stuck to the Pokémon design philosophy all the way through.
The way you replicate that Pokémon style is amazing
Obsessed with both the quality of the pieces and the designs their soo charming 😭💕
magikite and driftswim are my favorites they're so cute
Wow, these are so creative!! I LOVE the Magikite and Gaelados designs, very well done!!
just wanna say that i appreciate the use of surf music during the driftlagoon part and the use of the soar music during the magikite part
I would absolutely have these pokemon on my team. Nice work!
Magikite and Gaelados are my favorite! I want to use them in a playthrough! Great designs, great colors, and I love the kite/dragon puppet concepts! So cool!
WHOA THIS IS SO COOL I love the false eyes for drifswim especially thats a nice touch
Love your concepts, designs, and names. Great work, thank you for the video.
2k views in 4 weeks? Nah, instead you shall hit the algorithm this time and get 108k in 5 days.
Also love all the designs, you got yourself a new sub, can’t wait to see more of your fakemon.
I wouldve loved to see Gaeados' shiny design be red, but tbh these are all just so good!
If you thought 2k was a lot of views, you’re probably estatic over this video’s popularity!
Glad to see the little guys get recognized
These are really fantastic designs! Two of the best I've seen!
I really hope they expand on the convergent evolutions in DLC
You, friend, definitely did a bang up job~. And honestly, i’m just loving all four of these!
I love both of the final evolutions! They'd definetly have a spot on different playthroughs.
This is really awesome! I love both concepts. I'd love to see more designs from you in the future.
My man, you did not miss with any of these designs. Keep up the awesome work 💕
The driflagoon line is perfect. Still, it looks great
I had this exact idea for a convergent Magikarp and Gyarados the other day, your designs translated really well what I envisioned , amazing work!
I think I've just found my new favourite art YTer! Great job dude! I love all of these concepts, but my favourite has got to be Drifswim, such an amazing idea to make the dots into a fake face!
these are so dope looking, the color scheme on the magikarp and gyrados remind me so much of the rainbow fish book as a kid!
My sketches alone take several hours so I rarely complete anything 😭
these designs genuinely blew me away
These have such cool designs, and the quality of your video and graphics is super impressive for a channel so small. I wish you luck in the future!
