- Second day of 2021 Early Dove Season. Limit shot with a Weatherby 28ga semi-auto and a light full choke. Didn't have the camera on for one of the shots where the bird landed dead very acrobatically in a tree...guess you had to be there!
Nice area to hunt, I am also from AZ. 2021 was the first time I ever missed a early dove hunt season.
You didn’t miss a whole lot! Poor season, bird numbers and patterns were way off. I have some footage from my opening day that I might throw up.
Great video and scenery... Good shooting as well. Hopefully you were picking up your ejected shells/hulls in such a beautiful place!
Thanks! Yes I pick up hulls, there are some clips showing that. I also reload them.
That's awesome. Congrats
Great video Dude! You rock!
Thanks, appreciate that!
Wild to think that we shoot the same bird here in AL. They encompass everything from scrub desert to the great eastern forests.
Indeed, a very prolific bird. They seem to go everywhere...just like us!
I loved your video. Where were you hunting at? The scenery. It's awesome.
Thanks! This is in Central AZ, Sonoran Desert.
Love the video how well has the Weatherby 28ga done for you, I am thinking about getting one but I am a little nervous I can’t really find any info on them.
Weatherby hasn’t offered it for at least a few years which is probably why you can’t find much about it. They do come up used here and there. The Mossberg SA-28 is basically the same exact gun but not quite as deluxe.
Mine was ultra-reliable, but I sold it at the end of last year so I could upgrade to the Beretta A400 in 28g. The Beretta is very nice but I’ve actually had some cycling issues with it.
I see you are a 28 guage guy. Have any troubles finding ammo? What ammo do you use for turkey? Rabbit? Dove? Maybe Factory Ammo don't reload or know of anyone who does. Thanks. I'm leaning on a mossburg sa28 or would you recommend the 410
Factory ammo has been very easy to find in 28, but I reload as well. Haven’t done much turkey hunting but I wouldn’t hesitate to load up some tungsten alloy shot for a gobbler. I prefer #6-7.5 lead for quail and dove and I’ve also shot ducks with #5 bismuth in 28 gauge.
The .410 is loads of fun and a great way to add some challenge to your shooting, but there is no doubt that the 28 gauge would be a more versatile and forgiving tool. But whether 28 or .410 there is huge savings to be had in reloading (not to mention .410 factory loads are very hard to come by). I believe the Mossberg SA-28 is basically identical to the Weatherby.
@@pc8649 what would a box of reload cost a man
@@Gokywildcats11 About $6-7 based off current component prices, about half the cost of a commercial box.
410 good for 30 yards..?
You’re a very good shot. As if you’re just “riding a bike”.
Thanks! Shooting is really about 80% concentration and sometimes I have it and sometimes I don’t!
@@pc8649 right on the money, brother 😉.
What is your name sir?
Patrick…thanks for stopping by!
@@pc8649 you sir can absolutely shoot the fuck out of that 28 gauge, paired up with it you are a doves nightmare
@@pc8649 I like to think I can shoot a 12 gauge pretty good, you make me look like a 7 year old shootin doves lol more shells than birds
I like to think I’m a decent shot, but I still miss plenty! A good day for me is averaging about 2 shells a bird. That said, the most I’ve killed in a row is 11 or 12.
Dogs are made for finding downed game.
Would not run a dog in 100 plus degree weather
