    I rarely post a comment on youtube, but I have to say, your videos are incredibly well done. There's so many KSP videos out there and having played KSP since early days of Alpha, I've watched a LOT of KSP on youtube. Yet yours really stand out! You're both educational, clear and entertaining to watch, amazing work!

    Dude, your tutorials are amazing. I just got back into KSP and decided to go for a proper relay network for the first time. After watching some tutorials on it yesterday and trying to do it myself, I almost got it but didn't do it exactly right. I wanted to know where I got it wrong and your video made me understand everything way better than I think I could.

    I love your content and all of these tutorials my fav bit of this one so far is the Tip saying that the satilites being off by a few degrees will NOT affect the performance at all because I definitely like things to be perfect haha made me chuckle a little bit when I saw it keep making amazing content

    230 videos of tutorial in the last 4 Years for KSP... and NONE of them, showed me that you can tweak the TIME of the manouver!
    EVERY single person out there is just dragging it along the route messing everything up.

      @@MikeAben Ah okay, I understand, coming back to KSP after 2-3 years ^.^
      And thanks for the tutorial! You are explaining it way better and clearer then most others do ;)
      I am playing without the ground stations on Kerbin, so I HAVE to get a comnet working asap. I have difficulties getting an orbit arround the mun, because my connection is interrupted every so often >.< (unmanned probe)

    This was great Mike. I’d done all my relay networks just eyeballing things and not worrying about even the period. Consequently they get out of position over time. I’m going to use these tips for my next one

    This is awesome. Before watching your other relay videos, I just haphazardly threw 6 relays into various polar orbits. Now, I can clean them up and return 3 back to Kerbin for a partial refund. In this case it worked out that I overbuilt the dv they had because at that time I hadn’t watched your math series yet. I had no idea how much fuel they would need. So, I have them *a lot* of excess.

    • @MikeAben
      @MikeAben  3 роки тому +2

      If you've got the dV for it, you may want to consider putting your extra three relays in a polar orbit. Relays in an equatorial orbit may not be able to reach the surface at the poles.

      That was an awesome idea. I just finished doing it. Now, it looks like I only have two nice and neat orbit lines. My Mun no longer looks like electrons around a carbon atom :)

    It would be great if the closest approach indicators for targets showed their respective phase angles when planning the maneuver. Oh well, sometimes you've just gotta use your intuition. Fantastic guidance, by the way - your videos are incredible in their teaching ability!

    I have just started with KSP and your tutorial series has been a huge help for me. Very good explanations and well edited videos.
    You did do a minor "mistake" here though : After changing orbit to get to the right phase angle, you stop and change back to your relay orbit time as soon as you hit the 120 phase angle. This is actually wrong. Trust the math, let it go past 120 and you will see that once you are back at the periapsis where you did the burn you are back at 120 phase and burning back to your period here will end up with a much more accurate initial orbit, mine actually ended with a result with only 0.1 degree phase variation during its orbit.
    I would never even have understood any of these principles had it not been for your series. Looking forward to more episodes in this beginner guide series.

    I did this for kerbin, mun and duna but duna loses conmection when the sun is between kerbin and duna. Could you do a Video on how to get a relay so duna never loses connection?

    • @MikeAben
      @MikeAben  3 роки тому

      You would need relays about the sun. The principles would be the same. In fact Kerbin could act as one of the three with two other satellites in the same orbit as Kerbin but 120 degrees on either side of it.

    I would like to ask a question Im pretty good at ksp but I have always just need to know one thing about relays. If you add relays together on 1 probe will it increase the range? I think about it and I think it sounds stupid because one would only reach one distance while the other can reach an entire different distance. Im not sure at this point I just need to know.

    • @MikeAben
      @MikeAben  2 роки тому

      I'm not sure if this answers your question, but a probe will only directly connect to one relay satellite at a time. It picks the route that gives it the best signal. If this doesn't answer your question, let me know.

    • @barklet6110
