Carpet archery target

The archery target I made from scraps of old carpet. Total cost £18.

At our range we’ve got the same thing going. We use unistrut rod to rod lengthwise to keep the ply from bending.

Does the abrasiveness of the carpet backing scratch the arrows? I'd be worried about them eating them away after a summer of practicing.

yeah, exactly...i have to spend good money on good xbow bolts and don't want my target to degrade their integrity every time i take a shot....

Yes its works great for my 45 lb recurve bow

have you used that with crossbow?

no but im sure it would work. you will just need to tighten down the bolts on the target so the carpet is compressed to the point it stops your crossbow bolts

how much carpet (sq footage) did you need to make that?

1/4" per layer of carpet X 36" tall = 144 layers
2' sq per layer X 144 layers = 288' sq
