Did exactly the same thing but didn’t cut the foam in half and I used threaded rods instead of straps to compress and hold it down. Works great.
What size rod, like would 3/8s work? Or larger than that
@@connorhart7597 3/8’s works perfectly
The ability to repair it cheaply is the advantage really. Thanks for the idea. $13 for some Champion paint stencils off Amazon would dress it up nice too. Another benefit would be that you can add some bolt hooks in the wood and hang it.
Great idea can also be done with carpet scraps
Absolutely!
I actually prefer the idea of my broadheads going through to the back side so they can be unscrewed and then being able to pull the arrow vs ripping target out or possibly pulling the insert when trying to remove the broadhead
I lent out my broadhead target and wanted to shoot to double check before the morning. So I did the same thing with cardboard and it worked too. Won’t last nearly as long but will work for acouple checking shots
its a great target, my ocd cannot handle the twists in the straps tho lol for that it's a 9.9/10
Same 😂
Yep same here 😫😂
It works good especially for xbows
@brianfletcher319 what speed is your crossbow?
been doing this for 5+ years. No its not Rinehart but it works
They stop arrows fairly well. You can easily rearrange damaged areas. You will need to lubricate your arrows and invest in a good arrow puller
This would work for field points as well.
Was a crossbow tested on this target also?? Just wondering??
Any long term reports? I shoot a lot usually daily. 75-100 shots a day average. I’ve worn out so many targets
I use cardboard tv boxes and stuff them with old clothes, styrofoam and more sheets of cardboard! Paper targets on face!! Everyone throws away cardboard so free except the work of making targets
Can we get an update on this target? How is this target doing?
How do you get the arrows out, especially if they don't penetrative out the back?
Are you for real?
Pull
A pack gave you over 4”; why would 9 packs give you 29” and not over 36”?Trying to do same thing using your model. Thanks
He compressed it with the ratchet straps
What was the cost for materials?
He used 9 packs at $8 a pack he said plus straps if you dont have those already. But he also built a very big target you could build one with about half that for a standard size target. And you should get way more life since you can just swap around bad areas for good as they wear through
Around $100.
How much did it cost you in total?
If you bought everything new I think you'd have about $150 into it.
Dose it tare up broadhead or they're just fine after you remove them?
Seems fine
How hard is it to pull the arrows?
With no arms? Hard to say.
