I bawl my eyes out every time I hear this it's so beautiful 😭😭 two of my absolute favorites singing one of my favorite pieces of music ever. Thank you for sharing this ❤❤❤
This is stunning. Horne sounds like an angel, none of the General Horne manliness she acquired for all the Rossini and Handel trouser roles. She could be singing Elsa with that voice. It breaks my heart that there is no pirate of the complete evening to be found. Anyone who possesses such has a sacred obligation to share it with the world-- I am seriously begging you.
Yes, but when you think that the complete MIGNON on CBS was originally planned with Von Stade in the title role, and was replaced by Horne, you really regret that no testimony of Von Stade in that beautiful role will ever be heard. She would have been THE perfect MIGNON as she has been the definitive CENDRILLON, never surpassed to this day.
@@69EBubu Interesting. If it’s true, then it is interesting that Flicka didn’t make a fuss and seems to have remained good friends with Horne. Could really have been the start of a diva feud if it were with someone else.
@Ebubu69 Unfortunately I do not have the complete record: it is a concert version (no mise-en-scene) and I think that is the only scene of the opera was sung that night.

that wizzard Massenet could write some sumptuous music....particulary in Cendrillon with all the female voices. Magnificent. I adore that opera.
¡Absolutamente maravilloso!!!

@@69EBubu I didn't know that. Why did Horne replace Flicka? Flicka also appears in that recording but in a smaller role.
@@ER1CwC I heard (but not totally certain) that the husband of Horne was very well connected with CBS...

Do you know where I can find more stuff on this opera I was interested in hearing the role of the Fairy as they say it is full of coloratura
@bkmustang07 Ruth Welding sang the role of the Fairy in this production. Do a UA-cam search and you shall find!
