- This is the finale of the first act, with the best... Marilyn Horne! She´s so funny, and what a voice!!!
Isabella - Marilyn Horne
Mustafa - Paolo Montarsolo
Elvira - Myra Merritt
Lindoro - Douglas Ahlstedt
Haly - Spiro Malas
I like Rossini's madness in almost every final scenes of his acts in his operas.
I love this. Horne is truly one of the greats.
Horne's reaction to Merrit hit these high notes is priceless
You right. MARYLIN HORN always sweet with her partners and sweet Lady. I use to leave in New York and saw her so many time at the Met. Good mémoires but thanks god the youngs singers are great. Bests regards
How adorable Miss Horne is. From my point of view, the best Rossinian mezzosoprano.
MOST HILARIOUS MOMENT IN OPERAS EVER
Brava, Horne! Brava, Merritt!
just found this on DVD....which is good as my VHS tape of it is almost done from being watched so much
At the height of Marilyn Horne's operatic power!
That is fabulous.
A "song" by one person in an opera is an aria. If many people and the chorus sing in it, it's an ensemble. In this case, it's the Finale to Act 1.
This is my favorite opera song! Amazing energy and blending of vocals!
Sure to bring a sunshine to a cloudy day!
I must admit they are spectacular. This is absolutely wonderful!
Ms Merritt!! That's my voice teacher!!
Horne used to sing soprano roles in her prime. She was initially sheduled for that famous Lucrezia that brought fame to Caballe!
Too bad this video wasn’t done a little earlier when the great Fernando Corena was the Mustafa. He did the premiere of this wonderful Ponnelle production when it was new. One of the best Rossini productions the Met ever did.
Myra Merritt is a boss.
Bravoooooooooooooooooooooora! Braviiiiiiiisimiiiiiiiiiiiiii!
people who crucify here on youtube don't even sing themselves in most cases! I agree Miss Merrit is great hear!
¡Gracias por compartir este video!
Oddio, Montarsolo è irriconoscibile!^^
Thanks you very much for this video !!!
Genial!
Thank you!!!
I love it thank you ^_^. Do you also have to "or che musso" (bad spelling i know) the comes before?
Hilarious!
che brava elvira
I'm not well versed in opera, I like listening to various genres. If it's not a song, what is the term?
Doug Ahlstedt teaches at my school!
it's not a song...
I think Elvira is Kathleen Battle.
It is not Battle. It's Myra Merritt, who now teaches voice at Bowling Green State University.
Mérrith is great but Battle is still thé best
You cannot be serious
I agree with you. I love mérrith but kathleen battle rich some highs not. Anyway myra mérrith I love her best regards to you.
nice part of this opera except voice of marilyn horn
ammm soprano... no.
the soprano is miscast... she sounds like the same poorly sung one from the met centennial
jmahlon Poorly sung at the Met Gala? We're you there, because I was. How much do you know about opera? Just to put it in perspective, I'm director of an opera company.
