- ➡️ I hurried down to the knol-khol yard 🥬 early in the morning as soon as my father told me that there were some yams matured earlier before the season. I plucked several ripe tomatoes 🍅 from the garden, in the thoughts of preparing a spicy tomato curry as mother had brought roasted bread 🍞 for breakfast.
➡️ It is an infamous delicacy among the general public, to have roasted bread with a “Pol Sambol” and a tomato broth prepared like “Ambarella Curry” 🫕🥪
➡️ On the next day, I planned to prepare a strawberry pudding 🍰 since there were some ripe strawberries left. The 1st and the 2nd layers of the pudding were enriched with coco biscuit, nuts and butter cookies. Its top most layer filled only with strawberries and its next layers were made of a blend of strawberry jam, yoghurt, gelatine and whipping cream
➡️ Mother prepared a “Malluma” with knol-khol leaves, a knol-khol yam milk-curry and a maldive fish fry. The rest of the yam were mixed with a potato then boiled and fried 🍵 to make it tastier.
➡️ The “Pathola Sambol” was made out of the raw snake-gourds which were cut into tiny pieces, mixed with red onion and tomato then sprinkled a pinch of salt and lime, finally mixed with scraped coconut… 🥦🥥🌶 As delicious as it sounds I would have eaten only the “Pathola Sambol” itself.
➡️ My little brother prepared a garlic rice. Mother fried “Karallan fish” 🐠🐟 and prepared an omelette with a Soya Curry. After a delicious meal it was the time to taste a piece from the strawberry pudding 🍰. All four of us tasted every bit of the pudding as it was both tasty and an eye candy. 🍓👨👩👧👦🥰
The closer you are to nature more blissful you become. As cessation of life become meaningful…🍂🍃

මල්ලී විශ්ව විද්‍යාල අධ්‍යාපනය අවසන් කලේ මීට මාස හත අටකට පෙරය.එහිදි මුණගැසුනු යහලුවන් අතරින් සිදත් මල්ලි එක් අයෙකි.මීට පෙර එක් වරක් අපේ ගෙදර පැමිණ තිබූ නමුදු පෙරේදා ආවේ දෙවෙනි වරටය.ගම් පලාත නුවර බැවින් පැමිණෙන සෑම විටකම නැවුම් එලවලුත්🥕🥒🫑ස්ට්‍රෝබෙරී🍓🍓පෙට්ටියකුත් රැගෙන එන්නට අමතක නොකලේය.මල්ලීගේ රැකියා කටයුතු නිසා එදින හවසම නැවත පිටත් වන්නට සිදු වූ බැවින් හරියකට කෑම ටිකක් පිලියෙල කරදෙන්නට නොහැකි වීම ගැන සිතේ ඇත්තේ යම් කනස්සල්ලකි.
ඉදුනු ස්ට්‍රෝබෙරී වැඩිපුර තිබූ බැවින් පහුවදාම රසවත් පුඩින් එකක් සකස් කිරීමට සිත්විය.එහි යටම තට්ටු දෙක පිරවුනේ චොකලට් දැවටුනු බිස්කට් සහ නට්ස් මැදිවුනු බටර් බිස්කට් වලිනි.තුන්වෙනි තට්ටුව අඩුක් කරගත්තේ තනිකරම ස්ට්‍රෝබෙරී ගෙඩි වලිනි.ස්ට්‍රෝබෙරී ජෑම් එක සකසා එය යෝගට්,ජෙලටීන් සහ විපින් ක්‍රීම් සමග අඩු වැඩි කරමින් මුසු කර ඊලග තට්ටු කිහිපය සකස්කරගත යුතුය.දවල් කෑම ටික සකස් කරගන්නාතුරු පුඩිම ශීතකරණයේ තැබිය යුතුය.

පෙරේදා කපාගෙන ආ නෝකෝල් කොල වලින් අම්මා එදාම මැල්ලුමක් සාදා දුන්නේ අල කිරි හොදි හා කරවල බැදුමක්ද සමගිනි.ඉතිරි වූ අල කීපය අර්ථාපල් ගෙඩියක් දමා මිටි කිරෙන් හින්දා තෙල් දමා ගත්තේ 🍵 තවත් රසවත් වෙන්නටය.
පතෝල මැස්සෙන් කඩාගත් ලපටි පතෝල කරල හීනිවට කපා රතු ලූණු තක්කාලි කොච්චි දමා ලුනු ඇඹුල්ද එක්කර පොල් අහුරක් දමාගත්විට 🥦🥥🌶 මටනම් පතෝල සම්බෝලය පමනක් වුවද කෑ හැකිය.
සුදු ලූණු බත සකසා දුන්නේ මල්ලීය.කාරල්ලන්🐠🐟 බැද බිත්තර ඔම්ලට් දමා සෝයා මීට් සකස්කර තිබුනේ අම්මාය.හැමදෙනාගේම සිත් පිනවූ කෑම වේලකින් පසුව උදාවූයේ සිත් පිරී ඉතිරී යන මොහොතකි.පුඩින් කෑල්ලේ 🍰 රස මෙන්ම හැඩ බලමින් තාත්තා අම්මා මල්ලී මෙන්ම මමද ඒ මොහොත විදගත්තේ ඉතාම සතුටිනි.🍓👨👩👧👦🥰

As a Sri Lankan Tamil girl I was always impressed by the way Sinhalese people live in Sri Lanka. So close to nature and animals. I want to experience that once aswell.
Update: I’m from abroad but I‘m originally from Jaffna. I got to know a very dry climate and the kind of village life style. What I mean is more the kind of living around Anuradhapura area. I haven’t seen many other places in Sri Lanka so far.
