Hi thanks Kevin another fantastic informative video. I had not even heard of this system. I really look forward to your videos, I always learn something new. Take care happy gardening.
I would like to see hosta cloning/propogation using aeroponics. There is a ton of video and videos for cuttings, but nothing more advanced. Other perennials would be nice too.
I propagate many cuttings with water in a clear container, and as roots develop, they do not seem to be bothered by the transparent container. It actually seems that roots develop quicker in a clear container than in a dark container. I have successfully propagated lemon grass, cinnamon basil, sweet potato slips, and many more plants in a clear container.
In My Lifetime The end of each cutting needs to be sliced and slightly skinned back for the cloning gel to really take. Water should not be introduced to the cloning gel nor the cutting for at least 3 days (wet perlite can be used underneath, roots will speed towards them). Doing this will force the cutting to depend on its own water source (while searching for water) and it will allow you to keep your strongest clone (all clones wont make it). It is actually easier to root a clone under a humidity dome and faster to jump start the the roots by using aeroponics.....A humidity dome helps keep the cutting, top half stay alive while rooting. Aeroponics helps you feed and develop your roots faster for transplanting. If you think this way you could bloom and flower quicker! Meaning you could cut your VEG time in half if you develop your roots faster (aeroponic) meaning you would reach your flowering height faster. NOTE: Low Stress Training in Veg will help you in cloning! O.H.D. Horticulture
All of my Basil OG is between 1A and 1E. )) I had built one out of a storage tote. Works great. Costs much less. H2O2 works just fine to keep the system pathogen-free. No PH-ing necessary. Just keep the water clean and cool and do not allow any power interruptions. The gel doesn't do anything to help the cuttings root in this system. It gets rinsed off right away. In any case, you can stick your freshly cut clones into a slice of aloe vera and keep them in the pulp for a couple of minutes before planting them. The results are great.
You should those glasses for colorblindness, try all sorts of random plants, I hope to try propagating nepenthes ventricosa, a carnivorous plant, pitcher plant, by aeroponics.

Hi. Just watched your video for the first time. I have a few questions (which may have already been asked/answered further down in the comment section so sorry if they have). 1) Did you use a plastic cover/propagator lid to maintain higher humidity around the leaves of the cuttings? 2) Could using a heating mat underneath the reservoir tank have helped to speed up rooting? 3) Likewise for supplemental lighting from for example T5 fluorescents, perhaps would have activated faster growth and therefore speeding up development of roots on the cuttings? Many thanks for any feedback that you can give me!
