Arm Balancing Essentials for your Ashtanga Yoga Practice

- While there’s a variety of asanas and transitions in Ashtanga that require different kinds of arm balancing, the main principles behind each one are the same. Do you know how to set yourself up for a successful arm balance?
In this video, we’re showing you our ARM BALANCING ESSENTIALS, the principles that are always present no matter which arm balance you’re working on. You’ll learn how to prepare for arm balancing with initial techniques to practice and an understanding of what your body needs to be doing as you shift your weight. We show you why hand position is important and how to determine the correct placement, as well as how to set up for balancing in your shoulders and back. From there, we go through a series of progressive movements and practice drills that allow you to tap into your strength and work toward a full balance.
