  • In this video we are opening the HP Omen 17 Model 17-an100ca but will be similar for other models of the 17 and probably similar to the 15 as well. We clean the fans on the omen 17 laptop (could replace them if needed also show how to get to them) While the bottom case is off and the laptop is open we go show how to upgrade the ram as well as the hdd or ssd if that is desired as well. Keeping the fans clean can reduce temperatures and increase the longevity of the laptop.
If you have any questions feel to leave a comment and thanks for watching =)

I have never commented on a UA-cam video before, but this one was so amazingly helpful that I feel compelled now! You made everything clear, down to the number and color of screws, with clear images of what you were doing and which parts were which. I was so nervous to clean out my laptop but I was able to do it thanks to this video. And thank goodness I did - it was FILTHY with dust. Thank you so much for producing this!

This was a very good demonstration, thank you. I have a similar model 17" Omen laptop, 17-AN012DX. One significant difference of note is that the left fan's housing was connected to another heat conductor that rests, with thermal compound, on several items in the center of the motherboard, held down by three of the large, shallow black screws like what hold down the grill cover plates. This small difference was obvious and intuitive to figure out. I was able to remove and re-seat this component without incident. Other than that, the process was identical and my laptop no longer runs its fans at full speed just from turning it on. Cheers!

@@naregartinian7987 I would first suggest you go through the process again, as maybe something isn't quite connected correctly. Remember to check every single connection is in.
Besides loose connections, the only other thing I can think of is somehow a cable or transistor or something was damaged. In that case, if you don't have the tools and equipment to check every part individually to find the route source of the issue, it may be a computer repair shop job. There may be other things you can try that haven't immediately popped into my head though!

Hey man! Thanks for the video, it's very helpful! As a bit of constructive criticism, you could use some full time video autofocus tracking for when you're showing a piece above the table closer to the camera, so we can see the detail of what you're showing!
Still, the info it's there and I'll be cleaning my Omen 17 soon.
QUESTION: the reason I'm cleaning the laptop it's because the fans are on all the time, from the start, not like before, and even if it doesn't make any rattling sound, the normal fan sound all the time is quite distracting when I'm trying to read or work, or only need some silence. It seems to be overheating quite a lot, do you think the processor needs some thermal paste replacement? Or will the cleaning alone do the trick? Also, where's the processor, is it easy to access?
Hope you have the time to answer, thanks, all the best!
    Gabriel

Grip the handle of the screwdriver with pliers held perpendicular to the handle. Press down gently on the top of the screwdriver with your other hand (just enough force to keep the screwdriver in the screwhead) and rotate the pliers to turn the screwdriver handle. The extra distance gets you loads more torque!
