I'm sorry to say this exchange was completely unprofessional. First of all - dirty, disassembled elements should be cleaned away from the laptop, so that the dirt does not move inside. Secondly and most importantly - do not remove the remnants of the old paste with a dry towel. To be sure that the new paste is applied correctly and will fulfill its role in 100%, you must first thoroughly clean all the elements that came into contact with it with isopropyl alcohol (IPA). Here it is not only about removing the old paste, but also degreasing individual elements in contact with cooling. I honestly feel sorry for the owner of this laptop. In addition, you folded everything with paste-stained gloves.
Looking like he also left little pieces of lint/dust in fans too.
Better yet, how thick are they in omen 17 ck1440. can't find info online. I would be very grateful!

I keep my omen 16 in my smoke shed hooked up to a monitor and I'm scared if I open it I might find bugs, does anyone know if that's possible or nah.
I find the problem is there is not enough metal on the heatsink and the fan is a bit slow to ramp up. The processor goes into thermal throttling pretty quick.
thanks for the video. is really weird because if my labtop is off, in the moment i start the labtop (plugged in), the temperature in the gaming hub marks 90c. something imposible because is so cold, i have just start the labtop, that measure has no sense.
I had sth similar, while installing world of tanks CPU went to 90c
While gaming it's 85-90c
And GPU is 80c
Install Ryzen controller so you can cap the temperature of the cpu.

I also have an Omen 16 which I bought this year. When I opened it there were no thermal pads. Instead they used thermal putty for the VRMs. I'm thinking of replacing those with pads but I cant find the specs for the thickness. Do you maybe know? cheers

Usually around the cpu/gpu area are the power supplies. I would replicate what the manufacturer did. But adding high quality thermal pads and cutting them to size is a great option if the original are starting to dry up
@@lapfix actually I'm using HP Omen 16 2021, and HP already applied thermal grease for these power supplies around CPU/GPU, and I wonder that you have thermal pads on the video. So just want to know which thickness I can use specifically for Omen.
I find that the omen gaming hub is the main culprit. if you uninstall it, the temps will go down without any performance loss.
(Do this only if you have repasted a good thermal paste and facing CPU overheating issues)

I'm in the process of replacing the thermal interface and realized I don't know how thick the gaskets need to be... so I'm waiting for some info before taking it apart.

dang i feel sorry for the fans... it's obvious it still has many dust..at least you could have removed it and used compressed air..it's always good to make sure that every component is clean and avoid a possible rework..

i have hp omen it gets hot to 80c+ when plugged in even when not playing on it is there something i can do about it i use cooling pad with it too
That is not a good idle temp. Using it in that condition continously can damage the cpu when you try to run something intensive. Thermal paste is needed at the least. A cooling pad won't help much internally
Try to actualization amd(CPU) drivers
As @adi_zero5882 wrote it could be also the fault of Omen Gaming Hub software but you need to use a compressed air to clean your air intakes at least.
U can change power plan ,that decreased my thermals from 105 spiking to 80 to69. Turn off turbo boost as well

Usually just wait for like 30 secs and start clicking fn+F1, don't know why it works but it does
I own this exact laptop. What's the normal temperature when playing a decent game? Like valorant, cs go or gta v. I was playing valorant ant get an average of 85-87 celcius.
If you're gpu is running at 100% getting those temps, it should be ok as it is a laptop. It should never be hot to a point you cannot touch it

Bro, you did great job BUT you left like 4-5 pieces of lint/dust in one of fans, and a little bit in other. It would have taken you 1 min if that. I wouldn’t be very happy if I paid for your services and open it after to inspect and find that stuff. Kind of sloppy half ass job

Good would be 45-55 tops. Depends what the ambient temps are but 70c seems pretty high.

i own a omen 16 laptop and idle is normaly 60-75 so yes.
My omen 16 2023 with 4060 idles at 37, i suggest a full cleanup and repaste if its been over 1.5 years
i have omen 17 ı cant increase fan speed ıts up to 4500rpm max.

You can short the circuitry that way. If the paste is electrically conductive. There is a brand of thermal paste called 'liquid metal' but it's just regular thermal paste with a fancy name.

New omen 16, when play world of tanks temperature 85-98 i fink is not normal and the same in high grafics or medium.

just turn off cpu turbo boost on power supply, will lower the temp by 10°c or even more
