- On a whim, I decide to ditch my plans and head to the Canadian Rockies. Join me on my first ever visit to Canada as I explore Banff National Park and a tiny bit of Jasper. My mind is blown. :)

Join me on my first ever trip to Canada. My mind was blown! I'm excited to get back next season and do some backpacking. I rarely use music in videos anymore, but in this case...I used it to mask a lot of the noise that was brought in by the human element. ;) I hope you enjoy!
So glad you came up Cat! Banff is spectacular for scenery but it's our busiest National Park. I lived and worked in Jasper for two summers when I was a kid. It's all changed so much.

What were the dates you were there? I’m goint next September and I’m trying to get a feel for temp and snow level. I note some fall colors, ski jackets and maybe fresh snow on the mountains. I find that posting dates are often months after the actual trip.

Also there back in 1982 for a month and it was strange to see how much The Athabasca Icefield had reduced.

Not only is this a beautiful place to photograph and take video but you did an awesome editing job. Have not seen all your vids but this is got to be in top 10 if not the best. Nice mix of depth of field, closeups, stills, videos, etc. Mt. Robson up the road fro Jasper is a must see as well but you'll have to hike in to get the views. Book early!

Thank you so much Loran. The jacket is kind of orange/pink. I realize I made a mistake when I bought a lot of my gear. Most of it is black. I should have purchased pieces in bright colors as they pop on camera. I switched jackets after reviewing the footage of the previous day in my dark colors. lol

Welcome! 37 years as an Albertian I spent much time in Banff National Park. I was Married in the Banff Spring Hotel back in the day. However I have NO regrets moving west to Vancouver Island especially this time of year! Here we enjoy warm temps, sunshine & a long falls and green grass in December while Alberta is already in deep Snow as the freeze begins for another 7 months! Love Lake Louise as well, by far my favorite place to ski anywhere in the winter.

@@magna1178 Not where I live, matter of fact, we get less than 1/2 the rain alberta gets from May thru October and it possibly rains 3 to 4 days a week for only dec - feb.

What an adventure. I’d skip my own funeral to go. The Canadian Rockies are high on my list after watching MartyUpNorth for a number of years. Fabulous filming and photography, Catherine. Lots of day trips in Sedona, where I am at the moment, for when it gets too cold up north.
I can’t wait to explore more of Canada. Funny...I was just thinking about Sedona. I’ve only driven through there.
Really nice dispersed camping on FR 525 off 89A South. Better views the further down the road you go. I hope you get to spend some time there. A special place, for sure.

We are just catching up on some older videos we have not seen. We are from Alberta, Canada. Catherine, you did such a beautiful job of showing off Banff. I think I have said this before but we do not think anyone can match you for the quality and content of your videography. It is simply stunning.
