#Slayer #DeadSkinMask #ThrashMetal
This song is about serial killer Ed Gein who was the inspiration for The Texas chainsaw massacre's "Leatherface" That's what "Dead skin mask" means.
This song, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Hannibal and Buffalo Bill of The Silence Of The Lambs.
@@ClaytonMacleod also Norman Bates, Ed supposedly was doing this because his dead mother told him to.
@@toddabel13 Whoops, yes, forgot about that one.
She already iterated that at the end of the video.
Straight up
RIP Jeff Hanneman, guitarist for Slayer until 2012/2013. His passing in 2013 at just 49 years old was and remains a huge loss for guitarists and metal lovers all over the world! Thank you for shining a light on one of metals brightest!
I'm 61 years.old.
I was a teen when SLAYER MEGADETH. AND MATALICA CAME.OUT..
THEY WHERE THE BEST MUSIC EVER.
TH A Y TOOK THE ANGER OUT OF MY MIND.
YES I HAVE.A ANGER.PROBLEM.
THIS SOOTHS MY MIND.A.D SOUL..
SLAYER FOR EVER.
RIP JEFF.HANIMAN.
❤
This song is straight terrifying. I've heard it a million times and it never fails to make my skin crawl.
Hi Aileen, please consider reacting to the two Slayer songs “South of Heaven” & “Silent Scream” played together back-to-back (these songs bleed into each other). This is the next phase of your Slayer evolution.
Agreed. South of Heaven is my favorite Slayer Album. Anything from it is excellent but the above suggestion will be fantastic.
Slayer was my first concert the south of heaven tour. 🤘
Been a fan ever since
I agree. on those 2 songs as well. I wouldn't mind a reaction to "Ghosts of War" as well which is also on "South of Heaven" which IMO is their best album because it is their most diverse album.
This whole ALBUM IS A BANGER... DO NOT SKIP THIS ALBUM...it's a "slower"SLAYER album...it will NOT disappoint....!!!
Great choices!
seasons in the abyss should be listened to in its entirety, beginning to end. every song is great but one song does the album no justice you need to hear them all!!
This is a work of art
Rust in Peace is the same way.
No. It goes reign in blood. Then, south of heaven. And seasons.
How many amazing albums came out this year! !!from death thrash prog...
@@dimifliou9999 nah it goes
1. South
2. Seasons
3. Reign
yeah, it's like that.
you're the first girl I've seen to be so interested in slayers great catalogue. its great.
Great reaction. Slayer is legendary. Can't go wrong.
I've seen Slayer four times, with and without Hanneman. Can confirm, they're friggin legendary!!!!
There is a video of the drummer, Dave Lombardo, playing a killer song "War Ensemble." Makes you appreciate the guy who is not out front.
War Ensemble is an awesome song in itself.
Probably one of my favorite songs by slayer 👍 musicly and lyrically.
Drum cam at yankee stadium is a good one to watch! Lombardo kills it!
Yep. Start about 40 seconds in if needed.
ua-cam.com/video/3ivOfkqFmxg/v-deo.html
Dave was awsome in grip Inc too
@@teale30Lombardo is awesome everywhere. He gives it 100% in every band he plays with.
I used to listen to this CD like four hours a day when I was 16 or something-never stopped listening to it.
Seasons in the Abyss is a must. Arguably their most melodic and technical songs. Masterpiece
The song is about Ed Gein. I’ve seen Slayer live about 20 times and are the best live band I’ve seen! Pantera a close second!
@Joe dirty71 I seen them back in the 90’s all original members, Araya, Hanneman, King & Lombardo. I’m guessing when you saw them the only original members were Araya & King? Ya I can’t say how they were in later years but back in the 90’s they were killing it!
I can say this is the only song that freaked me out on first listen. I was 17 years old in 1990. I had just bought this album on cassette. I got home and popped it into my walkman. Laid down listening to it. I was partially asleep when dead skin mask came on. I was jolted fully awake when the child/female voice screamed "let me out now!" I will never forget that experience. To this day, Seasons in the Abyss is my favorite album - followed by Megadeth - Rust in Peace, Metallica - Master of Puppets, Sepultura - Chaos AD, and Anthrax - Persistence of Time.
Same. I got totally baked after school when I first picked this up and went in my room and popped it in my Walkman.. I kept walking out into the living room high as hell thinking my mom was yelling for me haha. We're about the same age. I was 16 in 1990 when this came out
Yup, had the CD and was cranked up on my stereo and was half asleep and freaked out and hit pause to go look downstairs.
How were you almost asleep 😂
@@Wakko92 thought your child in the basement got loose
goose bumps
Definitely have to check out War Ensemble
Dead Skin mask and War ensemble are my favorite Slayer songs.
I agree
I’m looking forward to hearing how you like this one - My Dad was the producer recorded engineer and did all the mixing… I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts
ahh that's so awesome!!! :D
@@AileenSenpai He’s actually done - I don’t even remember but close to a majority of your videos - Slipknot Iowa - APC - “13th Step” - System of a Down - & Probably some I’m forgetting… He’s an awesome dad & very humble & chill - I’ve worked on many albums with him so if you have any questions or anyone else does I’d be happy to pass them along or answer them myself. (His name is Andy Wallace btw I’d you want to look up his discography) - Anyhow love your channel & really honest reviews… Your doing awesome. Cheers 🥂
Your Rick's son or daughter??
Oh Nevermind
@@Ezoangelofdeath I take it as a nirvana joke - Clever 🥂
It is controlled chaos. These guys are so damn good it's ridiculous. The musicianship is just untouchable. Dead Skin Mask happens to be my favorite Slayer song btw. Great reaction as always!
Aileen, loving your music selection Slayer and yourself Rule!!!!
It's cool that you "get" Slayer. If you do the song South of Heaven, please let it run in to Silent Scream and enjoy both. On the album they run together with no pause. It was an artistic choice to link the two. You won't be disappointed. \m/
☝🤘☝
your dog was like, "oh shit, im gonna open the pit!"
LMAO x)
This is the closest thing to a ‘ballad’ they’ve ever done!!!!!!
Hallowed Point. Another great song off that Slayer album. They’re all great. Love the whole album and the sound of the instruments on it
You should check out “Seasons in the abyss”, I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Whole album whole album
This song is so cold. I love it. Also Seasons In The Abyss (Official Video) and War Ensemble (Official Music Video) are musts. Headbangers Ball classics.
I just love seeing your genuine, pure enjoyment of discovering music that I listened to as a teenager (& still do).
Touches my heart ❤️
your comments on inverted crossbwith actual biblical references honestly brought a tear to my eye....honour, truth, and respect
Slayer is my most favorite thrash metal band of all time and the fact that you're reacting to them blows my mind I love it wish I was in person listening to it with you.
If you love Slayer's drums, listen to their song "Ghosts of War" off of the South of Heaven album.
You are spot on with your assumption regarding their live performance...I have seen over 700 metal, hardcore, and punk bands live at least once each, Slayer are in my top 5 live bands ever \m/ I have seen them 18 times...
One of my favorite songs from them. I remember seeing them live with Megadeth Alice in chains and Anthrax. Epic tour
clash of the titans
What a tour that was to see? Plus all those albums were awesome.
I saw them on that same tour Lane the singer from Alice In Chains introduced himself to us, then he also introduced Scott Ian. I was not expecting that.
I saw that tour. That was my first concert.
@@tonyrossell832 I was 16. Many moons ago lol but super lucky I caught it! My first was White snake with Steve Vai on guitar
Seasons in the Abyss, Silent Scream, Skeletons of Society, South of Heaven... basically any Slayer song that starts with the letter "S"
Aileen, what I can say? You dig Slayer completely! Try 'Seasons in the Abyss' from this album (their fifth album), or 'South of heaven' from their fourth album. In this 'South of heaven' album, which came right after Reign in blood, they decided to slow down the tempo - Reign in blood was superfast, 10 songs in 29 minutes :)... Their drummer, Dave Lombardo, who left a band several times, after slayer (among many other bands) played in Fantomas, an out-of-this-world superband made of Mike Patton from Faith no more, Buzz from Melvins and Trevor from Mr. Bungle... You will not hear anything more sick than FANTOMAS, believe me! Try their's 'The Godfather'...
Dave also played with Testament, he recorded drums on their Gathering album which is an amazing album. And in March 2022, Dave rejoined Testament.
Nobody agrees with me but "Expendable Youth" is one of my favorites. The full 16 minute album "Haunting the Chapel" is another. One song in particular from that album, "Chemical Warfare", is in my top 5 all time SLAYER songs. Nobody agrees with me though.
chemical warfare is totaly awesome
Expendable Youth is a banger.
@@Nicholas_Burmeister yeah especially the lyrics which deals with inner city violence, something Metal rarely touches.
I totally agree. “Haunting the Chapel” is killer E.P.
Love expendable youth and also love Skeltons of society.
Great review of one of my favorite 'horror metal' songs. It bears re-listening to from time to time, you notice a lot of detail in this one on every relisten.
Great reaction! Seasons in the Abyss, war ensemble, aggressive perfector and criminally insane should be on the list
still my favourite Skayer song, been headbanging to it since it was released 😎🤘☘
Respect & Peace ☘
Check out Disciple. It's off the God Hates Us All album which was released on September 11, 2001.
Skeletons of society... IS A MUST 🤘🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥
that back ground voice.. I was driving somewhere once upon a time. I'd never heard it before, and I thought somebody was in the back seat of my truck. Almost caused me to wreck. Felt like a total goof ball once i realized it was in the music.
This song is a BEAST! Thanks for another great reaction, you awesome metal babe! One really creepy bit about this song is that the girl is begging to "Mr Gein" right, as in Ed Gein the serial killer? However when you listen to it, she might as well be begging to "Mr. King" ie Kerry King, the guitarist of the band. When all is said and done, I find it funny that people get their butts in a twist about music lyrics being horrific, but not about movies depicting the same things. It is as if it comes closer to reality with music than with movies, especially if the band playing the music has this stage persona to fit the lyrics.. When in essence this is just horror depicted through music rather than film. It just shows what great actors the members of the band is to make their take on horror more realistic than horror movies.
Yeah, the whole satanic thing with Slayer and various other bands baffled me for years. For me, I get it. The artwork, upside down crosses, pentagrams, songs about serial killers, Nazi doctors, war, death etc... it's all part of the bigger picture that shows us all the evils in our world, both in the past and today. That's what the real message is, not that we're evil, we're satanic or whatever else.
Thank You !
Slayer can definitely deliver live.
That scream at the end, really... everytime it makes my skin crawl, damn...
Love love love this album. So much love for this album I have the cover tattooed on me. You can’t lose with any song from this album. Opening track War Ensemble is a must for you
You are my spirit animal 🙏🏻
Yesssss. One of my all time favorite Slayer songs. Dance with the dead in my dreams, Listen to the hallowed screams, hell yeah baby anything from South of heaven is killer!
Try listening to At dawn they sleep is such a stellar slayer song, it's from the earlier part of their career and has a more progressive structure than later songs.... It's phenomenal 🤘🏻
The way Jeff and Kerry switch off and on with the solos amazes me everytime Iisten to Slayer
I love when you react to slayer you’re amazing 🎸
I missed your live reaction. I hope your having a beautiful day Aileen. :)
Thank you! You too!
The song ended at ❤️69. NICE. Also this is my favorite Slayer track. It was the final song Slayer played when I went to their final tour and I was PUMPED.
Ohhhh my second favorite Slayer song 👌🏻🤘🏻
Best Slaaaayer song ever 🤘🤘
Their best live performance for this particular song is Donnington Park (Monsters of Rock tour) 1992 IMO Aileen. Great react as always 😊 there’s quite a few versions of it online, but a lot don’t have a decent sound quality. Definitely look for one of the few that do. I can shoot a link through if you’re unable to find one
War Ensemble Live. Camera is directly behind Dave crazy . Amazing.
Also that quick slide after the solo is Godly
I saw SLAYER in 2010 at Sonisphere open air in Knebworth before Jeff Hannamon died and Dave Lombardo left and they were amazing live
YES! I was hoping you'd react to Dead Skin Mask! Check out their Live version off Decade Of Aggression. It's fucking incredible.
The voices in the background, when I was listening to it on the record player, with headphones on, I thought was my sister yelling out to our cat!
One of the top Slayer songs ever.
I'm in love ❤️ been listening to this song for decades and every time it gives me chills (even in prison)
Wholesome woman and great reaction on my favourite Slayer song.
My most fav Slayer song of all time, coupled with my most fav reactor of all time? Sad it took me 3 days until I could watch this!!!
Aileen.
You are witnessing one of the very best Heavy Metal Bands of ALL TIME.
Forget "Lables" = thrash, death metal.....blah.
THE MIGHTY SLAYER,
Is......
One of a very few of the best ever.
EVER.
welcome to the Slayer rabbit hole!!!!
I used to listen to this on vinyl, with headphones on, thinking that voice at the end, in the background was my sister, calling out to her cat!
Miss Senpai, I'm a 52 year old metal head; been playing guitar since I was 14. I'm totaling loving your metal history exploration. You got me thinking, and my favorite metal songs are Motorhead-Ace of Spades, Slayer- Reign in Blood, Megadeth-Peace Sells, Metallica-Escape, and Pantera-The Sleep. Hope you check them out . Peace.
Another good song from that album from Slayer was called Temptation, because of the awesome drumming .
This is my favorite Slayer song ever. Seasons of The Abyss should be listed in its entirety. South of Heaven should be next. I’m glad that you are enjoying Slayer. Killer reaction as always.
Seasons of the Abyss, the pinnacle of Slayer
Wow beautiful and intelligent! Most people don't know about the upside down cross and the apostle Peter!!
Yes they are awesome live
Awesome reaction to Slayer and I been blessed to hear it here on your channel,Aileen and your looking very lovely and gorgeous.
Thank you so much!!
Your so welcome 🤗
Damn miss Aileen you keep rolling out the hits much respect to you
Great song and great album, like your reaction and how you fact tject the songs
And that´s why South of Heaven is one of my favorite albums of all time (so far) :)
Aileen - have you heard Anthrax yet? They are just as legendary as Slayer and were NYC hardcore thrash guys. Influential in their own right in the genre at the time. Slayer is my favorite thrash band, but Anthrax is a close second. Metallica and Megadeth stole the spotlight and left these gems grinding away less noticed.
Fistful of Metal and Spreading the Disease were their first 2 albums - really captured the raw thrashcore sound.
Among the Living was really their refined sound - check out Caught in a Mosh, Efilnickufesin (N.F.L.), or Indians for a great intro!!!
Great reaction, you are right about the meaning of slayer songs. Shock factor was what drove them but also real life stuff like "mandatory suicide " about young people who are sent to war.
It is excellent to have actual music smart people react and review these favorites.
Thank you.
Great reaction
Yeah Slayer writes songs that are on the darker side of life and the world we live in . And they don’t suger it up they bring u what it really is . With some Killer riffs and drums . Heh I’ve been jamming Slayer since I was 11 I’m 43 now so yeah life long fan of that thrash style metal .my favorite of there’s has to be “Seasons in the Abyss “!that song takes you on a ride into the Mind of a Mad Man . And never lets up almost like it takes you deeper inside Love that song .but yeah I really dig your reaction keep it up girl ☠️👍🙌🤘🤘🤘🤘😄😄
Dead Skin Mask was inspired by serial Killer Ed Gein. Slayer's sound is perfect for approaching the subject. Ed used to keep body parts in the fridge and even made lamp shades with the skin of his victims. Now that you're here I promise I won't keep you long. I'll keep you forever! Love it!
Seeing Slayer’s final tour was the most incredible experience… this song will work you up!
Yes Aileen, Dave Lombardo, the drummer on this song, will blow your mind live.
I am so glad you finally opened that door about the Cross,,, it's so funny what people make Evil hahaha,, when I was a kid the smurfs were evil
you are Great! friend, your Intellect is amazing,,, thank you for your video Aileen
Best Guitar solo on Dead Skin Mask from SLAYER 🚬🤘
Check out Slayer’s song Gemini (about the Zodiac serial Killer)….one of their slower (but INTENSE) songs that keeps building up more and more until an almost frantic finish!! A song they rarely played live until the last leg of their farewell tour, but we all went nuts when they started playing it!! Amazing drums throughout!
I agree, Gemini is one of my favorite Slayer songs!
Definitely! Gemini!🤘🏻
Gemini is a masterpiece of thrash metal
That's my favorite song of all time
Gemini is a song killer
The first concert I took my daughter to at 16 was behemoth, lamb of god, slayer... she loved it
Lets go! Can't wait!
this one's about a Man named ED who used to sleep and Dance with the ..DEAD...clash of the titans 1991 Lakeland FL
Through the years it became clearer and clearer that Lombardo was the drumming heart of the band. He's really unmatched at what he does and I can instantly recognize his style and sound, no matter where he plays: Testament, Grip Inc, Philm (highly recommending you to give an ear to the last two) - you name it. The last album with him "World Painted Blood" is a clinic and by far my favorite in the newest Slayer era - the title track, "Hate Worldwide", "Americon" - you name it.
The floof made an appearance. Must be a slayer fan. Another good one.
There's something special about a lady that gets Slayer. \,,/
Slayer is essential in the metal scene. Their sound is raw and deep. When Tom Araya brings with his powerful voice a real signature not to mention Kerry King on guitar. This is one of my 10 favorite bands
War ensemble, seasons in the abyss, mandatory suicide, he'll awaits, expendable youth, and postmortem are excellent songs to play
Tom Araya has always been my fave guy in Slayer, without him, it just wouldn't be Slayer; his vocal delivery is so direct and kind of snarky, like some madman running up, telling you some crazy tale of human excess and madness, then merely laughing and walking away. And Dave Lombardo on drums, Paul Bostaph is incredible in his own right and crafted some epic Slayer songs with them but Lombardo is fucking legend!
When you listen to Slayer ... remember that Jeff (the best guitarist EVER) is on the left, Kerry is on the right ear. I love your videos
Always loved the Slayer song Temptation from this album. Never heard a song with the lyrics offset. I heard it was a mistake that everyone seemed to like and kept.🤘🏻
The look in your eyes listening to them shows you just get the strange beauty in their music…that’s me at 14…I’m 44 now lol!!!!
Dark twisted and beautiful
Just subbed today. Am looking forward to more Slayer and Pantera!!
