South of Heaven would be a good next Slayer song to do. Nice video, it's good to see a proper young metalhead learning about our shared history. Metal is a family and everyone is welcome.
Such a great album!! Seasons in the abyss, Rust In Peace, And Justice For All are really great albums that came out pretty close together time wise all these albums were so great.

Letting the cymbal ring longer, and not play the ride generates atmosphere and makes the guitars sound like they are coming out of rhe darkness.

This is one of my all-time favorite songs by them. The drum sound on this song is incredible! But what really sold me on this song is the vocal harmonies. A rare treat for a Slayer song.
Dave Lombardo is the greatest thrash metal drummer of all time and here we can clearly see that. He changed parameters, influenced a new generation of drummers and Slayer showed the world for the first time what it was like to play Metal in a much more aggressive way!
There's a special version of this song that features a bit of flute during the intro. It sounds surprisingly good, and I've always wondered why Slayer didn't just make it a standard part of the song.

This video was the number 1 video back in the day on Headbangers Ball for some stupid length of time. People just could not get enough of it and this song. For me, its not my favorite song, it feels a lil generic, at least by Slayer standards. The best part of this song is that the riffs are really big and open which leaves Lombardo lots of room to drop in some sick fills. My other favorite lil thing about this song is there is a version ( hard to find but it does exist) where over the clean picking guitar parts at the beginning and end of the song, a flute is played. It basically mirrors the bass line but yeah...a fucking flute!! In a Slayer song!! Keep up the good work you're killing these reactions!
Between Lombardo's drum fills, the dueling solos between Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, and lyrics like "a decorative splatter brightens the room", this is my favorite Slayer song. Another one of my favorites is "Killing Fields". Dave Lombardo had left the band by this point but Paul Bostaph rose to the occasion as new drummer. Killing Fields was the opener to his first album with the band, "Divine Intervention".

Seasons in the abyss was the first slayer song I heard when I was 14 and if you’ve seen my other comment, you know where my life went from there now I’ve turned 50 and still proudly wear the pentagram over my heart and still play drums and can still play every single slayer songat 50, but that’s no big deal because a lot of these guys from back then are still playing now and they play exactly how they sound on their tapes records and CDs, but they’re live!
I once spent a season in the abyss. That season was a summer back towards the tail end of high school as part of this volunteering/community-service outreach program, and the abyss turns out to look and feel a lot like a nursing home where the old people still like to party before the end. I thought it just got a bad rap, but it turns out it can simply take a while to see what everyone is always talking about abyss-wise. For me the turning point was when all the new people like me started growing horns, except where most people grew the usual two, for some reason I only got one growing straight out of my forehead -- one guy even started growing these two, small, extra horns out of the tops of each of his regular two horns, and he just seemed to think he was the bees knees always preening around everywhere -- then all the two-horners started calling me names, never inviting me to the parties, rituals, orgies, etc. unless is was for some kind of sick comedy relief at my expense. I've only felt so embarrassed like five or six other times, so that one was up there definitely in the realm of bad, like if you'd been making out with the concept of bad itself all night and then it left without giving you its phone number. I'd eventually cut my one, stupid looking horn off and call it quits. It was all getting to be such a drag, I knew I didn't belong. I remember one day somebody's soulless little grandkid was visiting with family, had a baseball, covered it in something and lit it in on fire, shouted, "Fireball!" and threw it straight into my groin as I was walking out to the parking lot, doubling me over to the ground, and he called me a "dork," actually got high-fives from everyone as I was rolling on the pavement. I guess the place was pretty evil, if mostly for the sake of having all the same jerks as everywhere else, except even the place itself was kind of a jerk -- so pretty much exactly like Earth except somehow more aware of what its doing, and when everyone is laughing at you it's still the same except slightly more loud in your head, hard to explain, plus everything and everyone stank in that way you can almost barely stand beyond the point of being polite and a not saying anything about it. A mixed bag of memories that grew more unfair, grim, and hurtful over time, I'd say don't get any hopes up about those abysses (unless you're like Mr. Two Little Horns On Top Of His Two Big Horns that cool son of a bitch), and I can totally vouch for what Slayer seems to have been so annoyed about on this album.
as you said, the song 'elevates' you. that hits the nail on the head for me. while the song is a little slower paced than what the band was known for at the time, it does touch on a fear, an anxiety, that amplifies the song to another level. that has always resonated with me. also it sounds just badass
Fucking Slayer man!!!! It's funny because when they went to Egypt to make this video they requested to film part of the video INSIDE the pyramid, they were told absolutely not. So they bribed the guards with whiskey and pornography and filmed part of the video inside the pyramid anyway, hahaha! Dave Lombardo is one of the best drummers ever. I was heartbroken when Jeff Hanneman passed away.
I saw Slayer the first time and last time they played at MSG. 92 & 2019. I’ve been a life long fan. I would usually give you a song from their 80s catalog but I’m going g to give you 2 of their later songs from the God Hates Us All cd released on Sept 11 2001. “Disciple” and “Threshold” are two joints worth checking out ✌🏼
does anyone else love how Jeff comes in over the top of Kerry's solo on this one? or is it just me, this is like the perfect Slayer sounding solo that best represents them, like you hear the soloing on this song and you know yep, that's Slayer, and yes Dave does slap them drums like.. insert DV joke here, his last album before he left and formed Grip Inc, you should react to Bloodline or God Hates Us All
These guys are just so musically gifted It's ridiculous. Virtually every song they have is so masterfully intricate. Always enjoy your reactions Aileen. Thanks for sharing 👍
I see the horns. Slayer is bringing out your final form. Everything is going as planned.😉 😈 This is my personal favorite Slayer song. I only saw them perform this live once from all the Slayer shows I attended. They hadn't played it live in decades by that point so I had no reason to believe I'd hear it live. Then that opening, evil beginning segment began and I started freaking out to the point where my friends who were with me thought there was something wrong with me. I couldn't even talk or make sounds and was just shaking. Then that F*cking riff kicked in and I screamed so loud "YEEEESSSSSS!" that I actually blew my voice out for the rest of the week. One of only three times that's ever happened to me since I started going to shows regularly starting in 1997. The other two being Metallica playing Master of Puppets and yelling "MASTER!" and my voice stopped working then and there and Iron Maiden playing Powerslave and having a similar reaction to this song the instant I heard that howling and evil laughter.
Awesome. My favorite was always Dead Skin Mask. I saw them live on the Unholy Alliance tour with Lamb of God and Children of Bodom. They preformed this song and it was so killer. Would've loved to see them again.
Nice to see the new people discovering and treating their ears to legendary tunes. Even if you don't dig Slayer's style/lyrics, they have some badass beats.
There was nothing as good as a Slayer show in their prime. When you turned during a song like Angel of Death and looked back from the front of the stage (where I was every time) at thousands (or hundreds at a bar show, the BEST kind of Slayer show) of people all into Slayer and knowing that moment would never come again...the best, unforgettable, incomparable.
You need to hear the song killing Fields, it’s the first song on the album divine intervention. It’s the first album they put out without their drummer Dave Lombardo, and it was a new guy named Paul Bostaph, and right when the tape came out, we went and bought it to see if slayer was still slayer, and OMFG that guy lit that shit up, that album was so good and the artwork on the front of it was so good that I had a tattooed over my heart so look at the cover and that’s what I have covering my hole left chest upside down pentagram with the swords and all. But if you wanna hear drums because everybody was waiting to see what slayer was gonna come out with with their new drummer, he had to put out the best he ever could, and my God did he ever we sat in that parking lot and listen to the entire tape twice! We were absolutely shocked
Slayer is absolutely amazing, someone commented on a band called iced earth Dante's inferno, iced earth are super creative and heavy and one of my favorite songs is The Hunter!

I had no idea you covered Slayer... now I'm subbed to ALL!! 😁😁😁
Welcome aboard!
@@AileenSenpaiare u taking on new fans/admirers? You rock !!!!
Love the love and peace that flows from you, your physical beauty is a plus.😊
Slayer's guitar tone so good, those emg-81's doing work!
People want vintage PAF’s and JB’s….. but for metal, active EMGs are quiet and really hit the amp hard in a good way.
I saw Slayer the first time and last time they played at MSG. 92 & 2019. I’ve been a life long fan. I would usually give you a song from their 80s catalog but I’m going g to give you 2 of their later songs from the God Hates Us All cd released on Sept 11 2001. “Disciple” and “Threshold” are two joints worth checking out ✌🏼
does anyone else love how Jeff comes in over the top of Kerry's solo on this one? or is it just me, this is like the perfect Slayer sounding solo that best represents them, like you hear the soloing on this song and you know yep, that's Slayer, and yes Dave does slap them drums like.. insert DV joke here, his last album before he left and formed Grip Inc, you should react to Bloodline or God Hates Us All
the sound and visuals still give me chills. Excellent selection!
These guys are just so musically gifted It's ridiculous. Virtually every song they have is so masterfully intricate. Always enjoy your reactions Aileen. Thanks for sharing 👍
I see the horns. Slayer is bringing out your final form. Everything is going as planned.😉 😈
This is my personal favorite Slayer song.
Those sliding legato at the end of the guitar solo are so fu*king hard to play precisely.
I love your reactions I've been listening to Slayer and I've seen them live 3 times since the 90's they are as good as your reactions trust me
There was nothing as good as a Slayer show in their prime.
Oh yes!!! If you like great visuals check out Bloodline from Slayer, awesome video and tune, my favorite song from those guys, great reaction Aileen!
As you take your Slayer journey, you’ll see NOBODY in metal can set a mood like these guys. Check out Bloodline. 🤟
Slayer is absolutely amazing, someone commented on a band called iced earth Dante's inferno, iced earth are super creative and heavy and one of my favorite songs is The Hunter!
When I 1st heard Slayer, a very long time ago. Animal was my favorite Muppet from the Muppet Show and when I 1st heard Slayer I pictured Animal playing drums for them. Been hooked since. Dave Lambordo is my favorite drummer to listen too. There are a lot of great Drummers. Kieth Moon, Buddy Rich, Niel Pert, John Bohnem just to name a few but Hands down I can watch and Listen too Dave Lombardo all day long, his Fills are Legendary
Love the evil little grin when it kicked in❤. This song makes my skin crawl every time I hear it! It’s great to see a beautiful young lady enjoying slayer
this reminds me of partying in the woods with a keg and a bon fire in the middle of Houston back in the 80's , great memories
My absolute favorite slayer song and album, slayer rules!!!!!
I always enjoy seeing someone who appreciates percussion discovering Dave Lombardo.
Great tune. Love the drumming on this one.
I've always described this song as a drum solo with guitar and vocals in the back XD
i can remember smashing this on vinyl every day after school.... my sisters are slayer fans as a result lol
Slayer- War Ensemble, must listen. Love your reaction videos. ✌🤘
SLAAAAAAAAAAAAAYEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!! Glad you liked it. Great reaction to a deep song.
I love you AND this album . This is my favorite record by them . Most will say previous ones which are killer too . But I love the mid tempo in a bunch of the songs on here . Skeletons of Society , Hollowed Point etc.. Yet they still shred with songs War Ensemble. Every time i put it on i gotta listen to it all !
Skeletons of Society is another gem off that album. Just a 3-minute groove.
I start listen to slayer in 1984 and must say there are perfect match, but will say i fall for the drummer and singer/bassplayer
One of my favorite Slayer songs!!!
Yeah... The golden line-up of "Slayer" with Dave Lombardo. The music of my youth.
I was multitasking by watching your reaction on my laptop and playing the Iron Maiden game on my phone.
disciple off of the god hates us all record will make you headbang like crazy.
@Joe dirty71 🤘🤘
“Fuckin’ Slayer, man” You said it!
I just stumbled upon your channel and absolutely _LOVE_ your reactions! You are a perfect reactor, and I honestly don't mind when you stop to talk lol. I know you have to for copyright purposes, but you speak so well, have a beautiful voice, and I can tell just how very sincere you are with your comments. Not to mention that you do it all in the right way! You don't talk through crucial parts of the song and I can tell how much respect you have for these bands you've been listening to. That makes me respect you so much and I'm definitely Subscribing to your channel without a doubt! This channel is going to blow up more than it already has. Please look into some Children of bodom -songs->Follow the reaper, Angels don't kill, Downfall, etc... Thank you 🙂
Love this album! I first heard it when I was in HS. This song in particular has a great melody. Drums are awesome, and Kerry King is amazing on the guitar.
My first slayer album!! Born of fire is my favorite off that album. Check out Expdus “Funeral Hymm”
Watching you enjoy something I absolutely Love is awesome. What I know about Dave's drumming, is that, it's a true heartbeat that is hard to follow as a guitarist. No Click Track Please.
