Yes, this is about Ed Gein, and this is old school Slayer, like early 90's
1990.
One of my favorite bands. They wrote a lot of songs about serial killers including this one about Ed Gein, Psycho, Texas Chainsaw, SIlence of the Lambs all about him. RIP Hanneman.
The closest slayer has come to a ballad is "Spill the blood". My favorite slayer song by far.
I think 213 is the closest to a ballad
This song is from the perspective of both killer and victim as the killer skins the victim. The voice saying “Let me out, please” is the victims plea to be let go but didn’t end that way. You guys also were talking about movies you are right about that was Ed Gein inspired and there is one other movie you got to add, The Silence of the Lambs. The character Buffalo Bill is based on Ed Gein because in the movie shows him making a suit out of the skin of his female victims. Sick! I vote your next Slayer song should be 213, the apartment number on Jeffrey Dahmer’s door and the sing is from the killers perspective and the horrors that went on behind that door. But whatever you choose to react to I will be looking forward to. Take care! - Gene A.
Being Halloween time and all, It would be interesting to see them react to ‘213’ by Slayer from the Divine Intervention album
To me, it’s one of their darkest and most underrated songs in their discography that gets overlooked a lot from reactions in general
Love your channel guys!
Completely agree brotha, it's awesome to see soo much love for "213" in the comments here. Very underrated song from an underrated Slayer album, I wish Divine Intervention got more love from the fans.
Apparently I got the title wrong. Been way too long since I heard it
@@bighomiestevethemetalhead8131 i absolutely love divine intervention, its probably my favorite slayer album.
oh and 213 is about dhamer :)
@@bigmatt2896 yep I mentioned Dahmer in my other main comment, the lyrics are from Dahmer's perspective (probably Slayer's darkest song along with Angel Of Death). Another album I love that gets a lot of h8 is Diabolus In Musica, it's different but there's definitely some real hidden gems on that album.
@@bighomiestevethemetalhead8131 yeah some true gems on there mate, one song i really rate live is chemical warfare, i know its from a cheesy album but that song live is great to headbang to
One of my absolute favorites from them
"Schlaaayer...YOU'RE FIRED!"
I love Slayer! Saw them live and did a meet and greet with them prior to show. They are super cool and chill dudes. One of the best live shows, but being at front of pit was on another level of crazy.
I've only been Starstruck twice in my life. First was when I met Chuck Norris, and then years later when I felt the presence of Kerry King for the first time. Got to see them 5 times. And yes, those pits are on another level. 🤘🍻
Indeed, a Slayer pit is not for a metal newbie
The craziest pits I've ever seen..
Slayer was once quoted in Rolling Stone that: ‘We want to be the fastest, heaviest, most evil band in the world’
I’m sure it’s already been mentioned but they have a song called 213 about Jeffery Dahmer from 1994
Also, Ed Gein only killed two people. A couple of ladies. And it was quick. Mostly he was digging up graves and cutting off skin and body parts to wear and/or make things out of. And he would put on his skin suits and dance. So this song is basically about him fantasizing about going through that process. As far as we know he never kidnapped, tortured or imprisoned anyone so that voice at the end is actually a bit out of place. It's creepy as fuck though.
You should check out Slayer's "213" - Dahmer's door number....that's all i'm saying ;)
If you want some good old slasher death metal Halloween music Cannibal Corpse is a must.
Hammer Smashed Face!!!
@@randywissler9923 Ace Ventura's favorite!
"Evidence In The Furnace"
Gein was also a grave robber as well as a murderer. He had human skin lamp shades, Human Skull Bowls and a belt made of female areola skin. He started out grave robbing but that only placated him for so long he soon moved onto killing but only had 2 confirmed kills but was suspected of 7 more.
"Let me tell you a story about a man named Ed. Who used to Sleep and Dance, with the Dead."
My friend's dad came into contact with Gein while driving tractor/trailers, just before he was found out. He said when he saw his picture in the paper, his blood ran cold. He said he met him in 1956, at a gas station/truck stop. They had small talk and introduced themselves, and that was it. Still, my friend's dad said it haunted him that he could have stopped him sooner, if he had known.
Lots have said that, even Ted Bundy's neighbors. They all said he was the perfect neighbor and there was times after he killed a woman and came home he would help his elderly neighbor bring her groceries in.
Demonic Refusal by Testament would be a good one!
I like your guys' banter; I've heard this song possibly thousands of times since I was 13 but I'm bored and fluish in the early morning. Here for some banter.
This whole album is amazing! Every track is great. The album is SEASONS IN THE ABYSS! THRASH CLASSIC!
This album is a must have for any trash fan
Season's In the Abyss is my favorite Slayer album of all time, however I love every album because they all rock out hard and slay it!!🔥🎶✌
This song is about Ed Gein, the ghoul of Plainfield. In the 50's, He killed 3 women that closely resembled his over-bearing Lutheran mother, robbed numerous graves of similar women. He upholstered furniture with human skin, used a cranium as a bowl and wore the skin of the women whose graves he robbed, hoping to somehow bring back his mother, whom he both loved and hated. He never targeted children and the town had no idea he was so deranged until they found his last victim dressed out like a deer in his summer kitchen. He died in a metal heath facility in 1986
Slayer "At Dawn They Sleep", will been perfect also!!!
Your Slayer homework this week;
Albums Reign in Blood, South Of Heaven & Seasons In The Abyss. 🤘❤🇨🇦
Slayer Behind the Crooked Cross 🤘😎🤘
This season is perfect for some cradle of filth again, i swear you're not prepared for this one: Cradle of filth - from the cradle to enslave (uncensored Video)
There's several pictures of Ed Gein's....leather work...that can simply be googled. Creepy as hell but interesting to see all of the stuff he made and decorated him home with. Absolutely one of the craziest guys ever.
Oh yeah with slayer, right on!! I love you guys
Omfg can't believe yall did this, love this song! It's about Edward Gein. Yall might have been thinking about the Gein-inspired Mudvayne song, Nothing to Gein. It references wearing masks of dead skin.
Third!
Dead Skin Mask is about ED GEIN and "213" is about Jeffrey Dahmer....a Reaction would fit perfect to the actual Hype about the Netflix Semi Doku DAHMER.213 was the Appartment Number of Dahmer.
Bad omen - like a villain 💯🔥
Morning fellas! Oh hell ya!! This is one of my fav songs by slayer!!! (I'm not for sure but I heard this song is about the serial killer Ed gein...)either way creepy but Kool song! Thanks guys!!!loved this reaction a lot!❤️🤓🤘🙂
Yes it is about Ed Gein
Yes it is but Ed Gein wasn't a serial killer.
I saw slipknot and slayer double headlining in london about 15 years ago. It was intense. On a weird switch, in the mid 2000’s my wife and I saw slayer at a festival and we fell asleep. I think we’re getting old lol
15 years ago would’ve been mid 2000s 🤣
@@robdurfee6861 true but I know exactly when I saw the double but the festival is a bit of a blur in regards to date, so I kept that one vague lol
Just dug out the souvenir shirt. Ironically it was 2007 so also 15 years
The 29th time I saw Slayer was Slayers last show nov 30 2019 in L.A. such an emotional rollercoaster of a dhow for me. They started the show with south of heaven and ended with the usual. Great show.
First time I saw Slayer was them supporting Miaden at Earls Court 15th June 2000. Awesome, saw them the year after at Ozzfest and I fell asleep.
"Slayer are the most gangster... " made my day!
hey fellas, I have seen the original Slayer several times, they are great, and hey Smokey, did Barringer tell you about new BABYMETAL? I think it's time to revive BABYMETAL monday
Fking Slaaayeeerr!! This is one of Slayer's best and creepiest songs imo, Tom/Kerry are excellent at getting into the sick minds of these serial k*llerz. Y'all should check out "213", it's about Jeffrey Dahmer from the perspective of Jeffrey Dahmer.
The intro of "213" is one of Slayer's best intros imo: it's very dark, heavy, doomy, and unsettling.
Nobody ever reacts to "213", it's a very underrated song and a lot of fans really like that song. Great reaction as usual guys! 🤘🤘🤙🤙
don't forget riff lord Jeff Hanneman he wrote majority
@@mr.ovakill of course, I think Hanneman was one of the best members of the band. I was referencing Tom and Kerry in regards to the lyrics, I don't know which one wrote the lyrics on these cereal k*ller songs but whoever did was really good at getting into the minds of the most depraved individuals in recent history.
I think Dave Lombardo and Jeff Hanneman really carried this band, RIP Jeff Hanneman 🙏🤘🤘
Hell yeah, boys! Great track from the legends!
Y'all dabbing in some real shit
guys you should listen Read between the lies and new faith.. the riff and the words..Its SLAYERRRRRRR
If you guys are doing a Halloween thing might I suggest 3 songs. Cannibal Corpse- High Velocity impact Splatter From their Skeletal Domain CD...Absolutely BRUTAL song. Cannibal Corpse-Kill or become from the same cd or.....Decide- In the minds of Evil from their Cd of the same title.... this is truly music to be murdered by!!!!
I would call this Medium Slayer.
Medium tempo sure, but maximum darkness
YESSSSSSSSS....My ALL TIME favorite Slayer Song!!!!!!
Dig Up Her Bones by Misfits is a must!
One of my personal favorites from Slayer! Perfect time for Halloween season too as this songs main focus is Ed Gein who has influenced films such as Psycho, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Silence of the Lambs.
In this day and age, they could be a hell of a video
Please do Morbid Angel "Where the slime live" the live version (can be found on a channel called: superskum).
Great reaction and banter guys!!! Would love to watch you react to The Void - Parkway Drive!! Not just the song/band but the crowd at Wacken 2019!! Amazing metal band from a sleepy lil seaside town called Byron Bay in Australia!! Sorry.. I’m a VERY PROUD AUSSIE!!!!
Ed Gain made belt of female nipples, lamp shades from skin and had some masks where he used the whole skin from the head (hair too).
He is inspirator for the writers of Halloween (Michael wears dead skin mask), Texas Chainsaw massacre (that house in the movie is creapy like Ed´s house was), The Silent of the Lambs (Jame Gumb aka Buffalo Bill makes clothes from woman skin) and propably dozens of more horror movies.
The demon in exorcist also used the name captain howdy. That's also the name of dee sniders character in strange land. And come on smokey, it's SSSLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYER! If you guys are into serial killers then checking out SKYND is a must. Also Kerry King and Jeff Hennimen meet each other at an audition for another band and after they were rejected the decided they were better than everyone there so let's start our own band.
strange land is a great movie
@@sherm4421 yes! Bet you forgot about that movie or haven't thought about it until you read this right? I forgot about it until I was trying to remember the name from exorcist. I'm going to find it tonight to watch.
" SLAYAAAAAAAAH! "
🤘🏻😹🤘🏻
" DUECES! "
✌🏻😸✌🏻
Such a great album.
If you're playing scary songs today and on Halloween, it's more like 8 days! IF you count today!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!
One of the funniest things I ever heard was the live intro for this song. Tom's voice faintly above the crowd, "deeead.......skiiinnn........maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssskkk!'
I saw them at Tattoo The Earth in San Antonio with Slipknot. Sick show. The Japanese doom band Church Of Misery sing about American serial killers. Master Of Brutality is a pretty sick album.🤘
Church Of Misery is pretty great.
@@jeffreycherep8264 I dig em.
Great song and reaction. I wish u would check out the song 213 by slayer think it will truly enjoy it
Damn right they're gangster.. they started out on Def Jam Records
Oh wow really
Reign In Blood was released Oct 7 1986 by Def Jam
You’re probably thinking of Dead Memories from Slipknot and getting them confused, also Dead Skin Mask as others have said was written about Ed Gein lol
There’s so many of my favourite slayer riffs on this song, one of their best for me
This video makes me so happy 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
Ed Gein used to be my screensaver way back lol. I was forced to remove it.
it has been said that the voice at the end. Its young Ed gein capture inside crazy mind of old crazy Ed Gein
In case you guys didn’t know, Slayer made this song about Ed Gein.
You guys have done a few others songs from South of Heaven. Definitely one of their more medium paced tunes. Awesome reaction as always. I request Beartooth-Devastation. Thanks and have a great day!
Dead Skin Mask was of Seasons In The Abyss
My favorite Slayer track!
For Halloween, you have to do King Diamond's "Halloween". Nothing's more appropriate than that.
And for Christmas they need to do No presents for Christmas by King!!
Been done did catch up ua-cam.com/video/ibDA0VJlc_U/v-deo.html
They already did "Halloween".
They could also do The Misfits Halloween. Vastly underrated song!!
@@randywissler9923 or pretty much ANY Misfits: Horror Hotel, Die Die My Darling, Last Caress, Night of the Living Dead, Astro-Zombies...soo many to choose from
I thank you guys would like Slayer Killing Fields and Here Comes The Pain.
Greetings From Austin at Ransom Center at University of Texas has The Script and Leatherface mask.Enjoy the Show
More slayer for Halloween, then you got another subscriber
Smokey with the perfect Vince "SLAYER!!!!!!"
🤣🤣🤣
YOU SAID IT ALL !!!
GOD I LOVE SLAYER 🖤🤟🤘
Theres an old band i used to listen to called I Set My Friends on Fire and i loved them. Listen to Beauty is in the Eye of the Beerholder. Its pretty sweet
Is it time to react to Carach Angren? It would be perfect for Halloween bc its a horror metal band.
I suggest When crows tick on Windows but i think it would be beter if you guys react to a lyrics video.
I hope you guys want to try this band bc tbh its not super populair but i think you guys can really apriciate the way they write the songs.
you guys would like Midnight shadows crawl to darken Counsel, by Cradle of filth
pleasant fragrance in the light of the moon i think is a reference to the smell of the corpses he dug up.
Love your reaction this was mine in 94😊
I haven't watch the whole vid yet. Ed Gein , Texas chain saw massacre , psycho , and silence of the lambs were all based off him exaggerations of course. Im in Texas and people are like, I've been to the house lol.
Blind melon. Has a song called skinned. Bout ed gein. Happy Halloween guys!
Dokken, In the middle. Dope song!!
Please do Marilyn Manson's cover of Cry Little Sister!
Slayer absolutely is the most gangster, hardcore, aggressive, thrash, of the big four! The lyrics do relate to Gein. Dancing in the moonlight with his mask.
Of course their “killing it” it’s fuckin” SLAAAYYYEEERRRRR!!!!!
Lordi - Blood Red Sandman
Very cool video
Please... Monster Mash... For the fun of it, or just in the introduction
I recommend Helloween - Halloween the official live video with all the vocalists that had been in the band great live performance from all the band in general.
New song for me too... Know some Slayer like Angel of Death... This is excellent
Iconic
Ed Gien had inspired 3 movie villains, due to his horrifying crimes! PSYCHO, THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, & BUFFALO BILL, from the Silence of the Lambs.
Pfftt. Vince McMahon voice is not the way you say Slayer. It's FUCKING SLAYERRRRRRR!!!!!!
Had the pleasure of seeing them WAY back in 1988 on their South of Heaven tour. Halloween night no less. Overkill opened the show, Motorhead was the supporting act, and of course Slayer was the headliner. Crazy show. Had the extra pleasure of meeting Tom, Kerry, and Jeff backstage and getting their autographs on the tour book, which I still have. Dave unfortunately never made an appearance backstage for that show so I missed out on meeting him.
Their live stuff is off the charts. The energy is insane! Reign in Blood is a fucking banger! I’ve seen them live 4 times and they never disappointed.
🤘Fucking Slayer 🤘
That was a victim at the end of the song saying "I dont wanna be here anymore...let me out mr.Gein"... Nice catch Hollywood!!☺and Smokey you nailed it at the beginning with the Gein an Texas Chainsaw...guess.😊🎶✌Gein is my favorite serial killer, btw.✌out
I saw them in Chicago on this tour in ‘88! Damn, you guys would’ve loved that concert
This song didn’t come out until 1990
@@robdurfee6861 right!
Shit, my bad. It was the South Of Heaven tour at the Aragon Ballroom
Yay Slayer!
1990 gentleman!
Alot of metal works with a death metal singer. Six Feet Under
You guys need to do 31 days of Halloween!
I'm from Milwaukee Wisconsin, my uncle sat in prison with Ed Gein, he said he was a weird guy.
One of the great .... great réaction except the start when you just did a little spoiler on Friday the 13 ( no problèmes for me
i now the story ) but you .... JASON !
Probably the closest thing Slayer has done as far as a ballad. Lmao!!!
Slayer - Black Magic is a blasting one 🤘🤘🤘
Late 80s Slayer, and this song is, indeed, about Ed Gein. He technically wasn't a serial killer, as he only killed 2 people. He was basically trying to become his mother, but mostly, he was a grave robber and necrophile. The horror isn't about how he killed, it's about what he did with the bodies afterwards...
Good choice, fellas, this is my favourite Slayer song, mainly because I understood every word the first time.
Ed Kemper would snap you in half. He's, like, 6'9" and built like a brick sh!thouse.
Try listening to Satyricon..Black Crow on the Tombstone.
Y'all need to listen to Macabre. A band that only sings and plays about serial killers. Their Dhamer album is amazing.
Jeff was the Goat
R.i.p.
