I'm from Japan, so I didn't know about The Journeymen, till I met Dick Weissman who lived near me at the time. He eventually hired me to be on 3 of his recent solo albums. I was even mentioned in his memoirs that he published a few years ago.
I was listening to another post on "hippie" music. The first song was The Weight. I commented that I didn't think of that as being hippie music and that Scott McKensie's San Francisco is more hippie. Next thing I find out that John Phillips wrote the song for McKensie and they were in a group called the Journeymen. That's how I got here.
Run, Maggie, run Run, Maggie, run Wonder through the meadows and chase the rising sun Chase the rising sun, we'll chase the rising sun Wonder through the meadows and chase the rising sun I set out this morning beside the garden spring My heart it was so troubled, lord, I began to sing I began to sing, I began to sing My heart it was so troubled, lord, that I began to sing Once I had a song and I played it all the time Once I had a girl she was trouble on my mind Trouble on my mind, trouble on my mind Once I had a girl she was trouble on my mind Went to see my Maggie and I asked her for a hand She went running down the hills, said, "Catch me if you can" She said, "Catch me if you can" Run, Maggie, run Run, Maggie, run Wonder through the meadows and chase the rising sun Well it's run, Maggie, run Run, Maggie, run Wonder through the meadows and chase the rising sun Chase the rising sun Yeah, it's run, Maggie, run Run, Maggie, run Wonder through the meadows and chase the rising sun Chase the rising sun Chase the rising sun Chase the rising sun

One of the best 60s groups. McKenzie vocals always my favorite back then. Wiessmen banjo absolutely superb!!
This Was Real Folk Music ! 🎶
This music tugs at the heart strings, even though I was too young to appreciate it when it appeared on the scene in the very early sixties.
Great name and soooo true

And for the record, Scott McKenzie's real name is Phil Blondheim.

FANTASTIC!!
I use to listen to them when I say in the 7th grade in 1962
That was about the time I started listening to them, as well. 7th grade. 1966--1967.
Run, Maggie, run
Run, Maggie, run
Wonder through the meadows and chase the rising sun
Chase the rising sun, we'll chase the rising sun
Wonder through the meadows and chase the rising sun
I set out this morning beside the garden spring
My heart it was so troubled, lord, I began to sing
I began to sing, I began to sing
My heart it was so troubled, lord, that I began to sing
Once I had a song and I played it all the time
Once I had a girl she was trouble on my mind
Trouble on my mind, trouble on my mind
Once I had a girl she was trouble on my mind
Went to see my Maggie and I asked her for a hand
She went running down the hills, said, "Catch me if you can"
She said, "Catch me if you can"
Run, Maggie, run
Run, Maggie, run
Wonder through the meadows and chase the rising sun
Well it's run, Maggie, run
Run, Maggie, run
Wonder through the meadows and chase the rising sun
Chase the rising sun
Yeah, it's run, Maggie, run
Run, Maggie, run
Wonder through the meadows and chase the rising sun
Chase the rising sun
Chase the rising sun
Chase the rising sun

Holy shit that’s Papa John!
Yeah he was kind of a genius
John Phillips didn't usually sing lead or solos, just like in the M&P's
The 60’s were great. You start the decade clean cut in black and white and end it a long haired tie dyed hippie.
Wow!
This should be the theme-song for Maggie being chased by Annie. If you know, you know 😂
Who is the singer on the right? He’s superb!
Scott McKenzie. He had a huge hit with the song "San Francisco" in 1967.
Muy bueno! por casualidad no tendras la versión en vivo que ellos tocan de "No one to talk my troubles to?
