That truck must be in seventh heaven--it was rotting away, forgotten in a field, and now it's back on the road and getting lots of tlc. Kudos to you for your skill and attention to detail. I'm really enjoying following this series.
My friend had a 67 Ford truck he had a toy shotgun in the back window. That was in the mid 70’s , Try that today! Also check out Fitzee’s garage how he cuts and welds patch panels in.
Looking great. I did a mod on my 70 F100 years ago to make it shift better. “Better” being not so much lever travel. The holes on the two levers at column end had elongated and the bushings were sloppy. I made two T s about 2 inches long, same width as the column lever and the bar of the T 1/2 inch tall and 1/2 wider than the vertical part of the T. I used 1/8 steel. I bent the bar ends 90 degrees and drilled the hole in T so It aligned with center of the shift rod hole. Short carriage bolt and flat washer to hold lever with those bent bar ends on the T to keep lever from slipping. I drilled hole on end the diameter for new rod bushings. The stroke of shift lever was little more than half of original and the effort was higher but not bad. Sort of a Hurst shifter for 3 on the tree.
We are in the process of reviving our 77' Flareside 2wd interior, floor pans, custom seat upholstery, new wheel , carpet, dash pad and integrated tablet PC :D Videos to come just getting parts in! Awesome truck BTW!
My late brother worked at the local Ford garage (Harrison Ford) for a number of years 60-s to 90-s. Trim levels in PU's could be sparse, non-padded dash etc. The headliner on yours was probably a gray cardboard with black or white mottled coloring. Depending on the color, trim level and customer he would extend the red line on the grill down the side and across the tailgate and or add a red stripe to the hubcap wheels or both. Narragansett Bay.
haha you're welcome! Those TMI seats, from LMC Truck, are the best deal I could find by a long shot. Everyone that sees it in person, is always blown away by it.
Thanks for the idea, got a farm 73 f100 long bed passed down from in-laws, going to convert it to a short bed and I love the brown interior gunna search those for my truck!
Prettier than the prom queen. I owned the four wheel drive new with three ninety and four speed.....$2300.oo bucks paid and out the door. I loved that truck particular cause it refused to quit, white top and bottom and turquoise sides and interior. I was a good mechanic but body work had eluded me at that time so every couple three years Marty's paint and body did the whole truck while running gear sast in my shop refreshing everything that needed attention.I hope that you can see the difference in those two engines that you have as those ribs stand out once your eye catches it, those horizontal casting marks. I think you have heard of uncle Tony's garage or something close. I think he would know this and then he is mostly mopar so might be a short straw... Deboss might know
That inner floor support section you referred to is actually the underside of your cab mount. If you're adjusting your door striker and can't seem to get it to go in further, try bringing your striker out more. I've seen other people who couldn't get it right and they ended up bringing the striker out and the door sits further in. Trucks looking awesome. I've enjoying watching the entire process!
The seat and the dash pad look amazing!! And I bet if you pulled that new carpet back out and looked at it away from the green interior, I bet it’s more gray than you think, but I could be wrong. Overall though, that interior is amazing!!
Just subscribed, I was watching your engine videos. I have a 77 f100 just waiting to be worked on. Watching these videos and your craftsmanship give me the itch. Keep on truckin' man!
In the door panels where the holes are located. You can just put in some really nice button head stainless steel bolts. That would make it look really nice .
I'm loving your channel as I've got a 68 F 100 long bed that needs shortening and all the rest of the attention you're giving your truck... very informative channel for me, for sure .
Great videos. I'm gonna be doing work like this on my '72 F250 before long. You might want to check to see where water may be coming into the cab. Those floors usually rust because the truck sat outside for a long time and water leaked in when it rained. I found if the windshield isn't leaking, water is coming thru the bottom of the vent below the windshield into the cab. There's a big black bead of sealer under the dash along the top of the firewall and that's where it may be coming in. BTW that old green carpet most likely isn't original and neither is the cloth seat upholstery. That thing was probably upgraded in the 1990's. The Ford trucks of that era came with vinyl seats and black rubber floor mat. The "fat" seatbelts are the originals. Good looking truck. The painted interior looks great! If you don't want to use the vinyl door panels, that metal panel that's there will work. The base models used that metal panel. They were just painted different contrasting color. Maybe try to find a paint in that parchment color and paint the metal in that color. Looks great and it will help me on my project.
This one looks like it came in through the rear window gasket and ran down into the floor. The truck sat outside with that passenger side tires flat, so it was leaning that direction, so it looks like the carpet held water and caused it to rust out the floor board up there.
@@330_garage3 that's good to know. One thing for sure, it's getting good care now and will be in a garage and rarely in the rain anyway. I finally got mine in a carport so that'll help it until I can fully restore it. Thanks again for recording this. It gave me some great ideas.
The door panels are just like my F-100 was. Mine was a base model, didn't even have the horn ring like yours has. Just the center peice. The plates around the switches and all the dash trim is also extra.
Great videos. I think you may have struggled with the same thing I did while painting my house. Grey is a weird color, it has the ability to pick up the colors that are surrounding it. The paint is changing the color of the carpet according to your eyeballs. We chose a nice grey, but once on the walls, the sunlight would make it look purple. Had to change the paint color 3 times before we got it right.
usually a couple of coats top coat clear will make the paint shine then people sand with wet and dry 2000 grit then buff to a high gloss, it may work for you
sometimes the interior and it's maddening array of fasteners, hidden bolts, screws is more taxing than the engine work...as you are showing..good work..
Hi, You really have done a nice job restoring your f100. I think dark brown or saddle tan carpet would of looked way better than grey. Doesn't go together. JMO ;) Thumbs up !!!!
I asked some girls with good fashion sense, what color carpet I should go with. Showed them the seats and other colors, they picked light grey. Now I can just tell people 'its fashionable' hahaha
I don't know how you knock out these projects so quickly. I was far ahead of you on my build and now you're catching up fast! That interior looks fantastic, such a great feeling to get that done! It's too bad by the time these videos are posted you're often well past the point of getting any useful info from our comments. While you were patching up the floor I noticed that piece of metal underneath was part of your cab mount. I hope you checked the mount out before you finished up with that patch. It'd be a shame if the mount is bad to have to cut back into the floor! Have any plans for that gauge cluster bezel? I look forward to your videos every weekend. Keep up the good work!
thanks! You'd be surprised the comments help quite a bit, but I agree... sometimes a live audience would save me. I'll have to look at that cab mount. I was thinking about replacing the cab mounts anyway. I was going to replace the gauge cluster, maybe a custom setup... I need to make a good plan there.
looks good, If your in a hot state i'd be looking at a a/c conversion kit like vintage air or something and some accurate gauges like Dakota digital, BTW thanks for not Coyote or LS swapping a classic Ford.
Dude, I’m really loving the videos. I stumbled on the one with the crown Vic susp swap and then subscribed and started at vid1. Your personality is starting to show more and that’s a good thing. I’m curious how you came by your knowledge and where these vids are being made. My dad has a 1973 Ford f100 custom that is in great shape, but this series has me wanting to find a basket case and bring it back to life.
Awesome! Glad you are enjoying the content. I'm just north of Dallas TX. I have been working on cars for a long time, and have worked in the industry for a long time. Paint and collision repair, ASE tech, tire shops etc.. just a lot of hands on experience. People were always telling me I should start a UA-cam channel, so I have and its been fun to see people enjoy it, and learn from you guys as well!
I’ve still got the original mat in my 69. Funny how they used to be able to make quality, long lasting rubber parts like that then but can’t seem to figure it out today?
Interior look really good get head liner and door panels to match. Not real sure about weather strip I think it might leak with the seam in the top. Get a peace of rubber hose that fits inside the weather strip to splice the seam.
Donald Holbrook good point. Seam at the bottom might be a better choice. The previous owner on my truck had so much goop in the gaps of all the rubber weatherstripping that the seams on the doors and windshield were perfectly preserved. Not a spec of rust anywhere. When I replaced the rubbers I put liberal amounts of goop in as well
i have a 70 high boy it is very clean still has factory paint no rust dana 60/80 lockers with tool box on side extra parts 390 4 speed i got for 250 bucks traded for the engine new clutch not sure what i am going to do with it right now i am building a 68 chevy with a stroked 454 hot rod . have a few 4x4 sitting can get a lot of fords and chevys have a few all ready
Looking good now change back window seal to keep water out... I think tmi makes matching door panels. A stock headliner with extra sound deadener could be cool...
Yep.. I already have a new rear window gasket that needs to go in, luckily the truck lives in the shop so no water risk at the moment. I need to figure out where to get a headliner, and find some headliner trim on ebay or somewhere
330_Garage I looked at the abs plastic headliner which looks ok or you can go online and order the perforated vinyl like it had originally which looks a little more finished and original, i considered making it myself out of fabric or you can have one made in a leather or vinyl that matches the seat. There’s a company I came across on Etsy I decided to go with that will make whatever you want for 170 bucks. B62upholstery, They’re making one for me as we speak - pleated, Old Whiskey vinyl to match my seat cover. I can’t vouch for the quality yet but the reviews were really good and the owner was easy to work with. Or you can do something custom like the American flag thecraig909 did. Choices choices...
@@yeboscrebo4451 yeah I like Craig's flag, I might copy that on my 1967. So far I've just got my truck in pieces. I told the wife that it's either give me money to build my truck or I'm buying a new Mustang GT 350. I'm learning as I go and Craig909 and 330 have been very helpful for me.
you bet. Its a 40x60 building, and a went with a 13' eve height so I could put a taller lift in it. I think the lift would have been fine with a 12' eve height. The 2 roll up doors on the front are 12x12 also.
That trucks going to be in the weather you should have put the scene for the weather strip by the bottom of the door in the middle of the door sill then buy some sill plates covers they also dress up the interior when you open the door some shiny down at the bottom
Looks great! Probably should have hit the pedals and column with a little paint too. Or do you have other plans for them? That 3M stuff is the same stuff I use on engine gaskets. Works awesome. Engine fluids do not affect it. Typically the split line of the door seal goes to the bottom at center or a little forward. Assists in leaving a place for any water to escape/drain. Door sill plates will help hold the door gasket and carpet down in the jambs. Originals are almost always wasted. Also that odd seatbelt is probably out of a mid-later 70s Ford pu. The 67-72s never had a center belt like the 75-78s. I did the same thing, put that center belt into my 69. Needed it for the baby car seat back then! Lol Looks great, keep up the good work. Oh- stick with the 68-9 Grille. Much better looking IMO than the 70-72. They have started reproducing them, Dennis Carpenter, but sure ain't cheap!
It's legal to have gun rack in your truck with rifles in Texas! That windshield will be easy...I promise! I have had three of these and one I had to almost restore. Good looking interior!
It’s odd, libs didn’t kill gun racks. Sliding windows, frame instead of in-cab fuel tank, extended cabs, then crew cabs did. Also rifles being stolen. With longer cabs you couldn’t reach and grab quick so you put the rifle behind seat since there wasn’t a fuel tank there using up that space.
@@jimmyaber5920 I out a sliding window in all my old trucks for a just in case. I wish I could remember the store where I bought them it was on I-10 in San Antonio...anyway the dems did try to include racks. The then Gov., Perry nixed it and Abbott has upheld it. We have a law now that says we will remain a open carry state even if the Feds try to nix it!
hahaha! She thought it looked nice in the end, and was impressed by the transformation... but she doesn't understand our level of excitement for these old trucks!
How much did the seat from LMC drop you in the truck? The original seat my legs are almost at the bottom of the steering wheel. Looking at my be using a 92-96 F150 seat as I've read it is a direct bolt onto the seat pan. Not sure how much it will drop my in the cab either.
@@markseefried2450 I actually had a 96 F150 in my shop this week with the 40/20/40 seat in it. ... I'm not sure that seat is any lower than the factory F100 bench. The tall back rests make it look even taller, so makes it harder to estimate
Looks like they maybe out of stock right now. I paid around $1600 for the whole seat setup. www.lmctruck.com/1957-72-ford/seats/fb-1961-72-signature-series-seats-bench Those seats are made by TMI, you may check with those guys as well. www.tmiproducts.com/cars/ford/truck/1969/complete-seats

Lol
Looks great, keep up the good work.
Oh- stick with the 68-9 Grille. Much better looking IMO than the 70-72. They have started reproducing them, Dennis Carpenter, but sure ain't cheap!
Probably a good idea to paint the pedals.. not sure that I really had a good plan for them...
@@330_garage3 It's a small detail you don't think about while doing the rest. Guilty myself!
@@330_garage3 trim black and new pads is all they need looking good
I’d definitely leave the dash pad off if it were me, also repaint the Gun rack. You’re definitely Gifted with your Hands.
Just got back from asking about purchasing a truck similar to this
What are you waiting for?... They aren't making any more of them haha
That is what I am going to do to my 63 Chevy C10, luxury interior with a/c on the inside, rat truck on the outside.
And a Laz-e-boy recliner for a drivers seat! Lol
Nice interior! Nice job
Very good videos, good work. For the carpet, can you tell me what material you went with. There is a drop down for material choice.
Oops.. I thought the link I posted had the material selected, looks like it didn't. Color: 627-Grey Nylon Loop
Looks great👍🚙
Are those the same seats just reupholstered? Or new seats? I’m trying to figure out what I can do for my 1954 ford f100. Love the bench style seats
No they are new seats, check out LMC truck, they sell a bolt in seat and frame (made by TMI) for the F100! Its a great option
@@330_garage3 is the middle considered a seat? Would a little one be able to buckle in the middle? Appreciate the response.
Looking Good!
Rob it is amazing what you have done to the truck. However, the carpet looks gray in the video. Don’t see the green you are talking about.
If u change carpet I want that carpet I'll pay for shipping. Trucks looking great
Beautiful end result. Congratulations. Did your wife say what she thinks?
hahaha! She thought it looked nice in the end, and was impressed by the transformation... but she doesn't understand our level of excitement for these old trucks!
330_Garage they never do.
How much did the seat from LMC drop you in the truck? The original seat my legs are almost at the bottom of the steering wheel. Looking at my be using a 92-96 F150 seat as I've read it is a direct bolt onto the seat pan. Not sure how much it will drop my in the cab either.
It may have dropped me an inch or 2, it wasn't much. Buts more comfortable to drive now for sure.
Do you think the 92-96 F150 40/20/40 seat will drop me any?
@@markseefried2450 I actually had a 96 F150 in my shop this week with the 40/20/40 seat in it. ... I'm not sure that seat is any lower than the factory F100 bench. The tall back rests make it look even taller, so makes it harder to estimate
was that the original PCV valve in what looked like a cap that would explain the two slots you filled with silicon in the rocker covers ...
How much was the seat? Not seeing any pricing on the website. Maybe they aren’t making them anymore?
Looks like they maybe out of stock right now. I paid around $1600 for the whole seat setup.

Those seats are made by TMI, you may check with those guys as well.
