Cleveland has its moments and you caught quite a few of them, nicely done. Next time through, one more stop east on the red line would put you at the huge maintenance and storage facility for the RTA rapid transit system. The red line used to be left-hand running from downtown to Windermere on the east side only. Blue and Green were always right-hand east of E.55. Just a bit further on the red is Little Italy for great Italian food, one-stop past University Circle where NS and CSX run alongside the red line. Next time maybe. Great job!!
Pretty cool video about the Cleveland rapid transit lines. Many years ago, my dad took me and one of his friends to visit a World War II friend of his. We didn't ride on the rails; we rode on what was a strange looking vehicle: a bus with two poles on the roof and a dual set of overhead wires. It was called a trackless trolley, or trolley bus. In later years, I did ride on the rapid transit line to the airport. At the station, there was a display honoring the comic book hero, Superman. He was created by Jerry Seigel and Joe Schuster back in the thirties. In the display were certain buildings which were used as models for Superman's hometown Metropolis. One of them, I believe, was the Tower Building you described in the video. On a future return trip, I'd like to ride the rapid transit line and the other two lines with the articulated Breda cars. One of the former Shaker Heights trolley cars is undergoing restoration at Pennsylvania Trolley Museum in Washington, PA. It is car 94, a PCC that ran there for many years. Thanks for the ride, I enjoyed it an all the info about passenger trains from the past.
I took the New York Central from Grand Central to Cleveland in the early 60s to meet my Aunt and Uncle. They lived in Westlake at the time. I remember shopping at the Higbees store in Terminal tower with a refreshment stand on the lower level that sold thick chocolate milkshake drinks that were sort of like a Wendy’s Frosty!. That Uncle worked for the Erie Railroad and used to come to visit us in Paterson, NJ every Christmas. They used to ride the last local to Youngstown to pick up the old Erie main line train thru Port Jarvis to Paterson. Great memories.
Hey, I live on the west side of Cleveland, you rode a train only a few blocks from where I live!. Next time you're in town get in touch and we'll meet up and I'll take you to some other railfanning locations...great video by the way
Wow !! You're really going far afield. A nice change from the LIRR. Cleveland holds some great memories for me. I rode the PCC cars on the Shaker Rapid. They were some of the fastest running PCC cars in North America. I even rode on the two ex-Newark N. J. Transit PCC cars that were sold to Shaker. I even rode on a fan trip with the N. J. Transit PCC cars. They ran in NJT colors out there, which made for interesting movies and photos. If I recall correctly, they were in NJT's Bicentennial colors. I'd still like to see you do a head-end video on Metro NORTH's scenic 'Hudson" line, from Croton-Harmon to Grand Central. The express runs are spectacular. I actually rode on the old New York Central electric MU cars on that awesome line. Those cars were thrilling, with windows that could be opened, rattan seat upholstery and the wonderful whine of the gears and traction motors at high speed. How sad a train of those cars wasn't saved for fan trips and special events. What a shame that people today will never experience that thrill.
Great nostalgic trip for me, having grown up in Cleveland and seen the opening of the CTS Rapid, the PCCs on the Shaker Rapid, and even the last of the Berkshires on the Nickel Plate. And of course I was an Indians fan.
Cleveland looks like a great place to rail fan.. Did you see the monster that devoured Cleveland? I wonder how many folks would actually understand that statement
That's kind of insensitive retired rail fan speaking of the name change of the Cleveland Guardian if that was offensive to the Italians you wouldn't have made that statement about the name always remaining the same
I stand by it. We are not talking about Italians here. We are talking about a symbol of a great city like Cleveland Ohio and that’s an iconic part of the city’s history like the Terminal Tower building is
Mr real fan retired Horn Guy maybe I misunderstood you I thought you wasn't happy with them changing it from Redskins but if that's how you feel that's how you feel
This line and its cars look like a modern interurban train line. So cool! Love those Tokyu cars. Sad they will be gone soon
Terminal Tower bldg was the centerpiece for the Christmas film “A Christmas Story”
Nice sharing 👍♐️
Cool trip. Thanks for this
Use to have rail spurs at 117st to manufacturers and paint companies
I love those Tokyu Red Line cars. They due for replacement soon. Im hoping to ride them before theyre gone.
Progressive Field where my Chicago Cubs won the World Series in 2016

Great video!! Nice array of transit!!
Thanks RR😀💚💚
We love you too from CLE.
Cleveland was the first city in the western hemisphere to have a 🚇 metro to an airport, the Rta red line.

So much awesome rail action!! Love the KCS military train!!
Note to self-always open video with volume turned down! LOL!
My intent is to wake people up and jumpstart people so they can tackle the stresses of the day
Cleveland is an awesome city!!!

Awesome video! I miss my hometown. And I wholeheartedly agree, they're the Indians!
Great video
Needs new railcars. They trying to get dual level cars to standardize the fleet

Such a shame the view of the CUT gets blocked coming off the viaduct thanks to that stupid UGLY silo!
It’s one of the most gorgeous buildings I’ve ever seen. To me changing the name of the Indians to the Guardians was like tearing that building down.
Inside and out. I wish I could have seen it in the '40s.
Very nice
Did you ride Amtrak to Cleveland?
I drove
You should try a cross country trip if you haven’t done one. I’ve done a few. It’s a unique experience
Did you take Amtrak or did you drive to Cleveland?
Drove.
Cleveland looks like a great place to rail fan..
Did you see the monster that devoured Cleveland? I wonder how many folks would actually understand that statement
What a merciless creature that would have been

@@tlove3840 I don’t care about the Redskins change. It’s just a Cleveland thing with me
