I believe that it is the first major metropolitan area in the United States to have a direct passenger rail connection between its airport and its downtown.
I know Cleveland isn’t perfect but for a city of 300,000 that gets continuously shat on by the rest of the world, they sure do seem to have a subway that’s cleaner and nicer than 90% of the country
Hasn't been always like that though, the 70's and 80's were rough on the RTA rapid trains. They used to run them into the ground before getting new trains or even new interiors.
I’ve never taken the Red line to or from the Airport. I always got on at W117 to downtown when I lived in the area. Cool stuff documenting this, thanks!
@@rideurbanrail Did you know that Cleveland was the first city in the western hemisphere to have a rapid transit rail line from its central business district to its international airport?
Unfortunately, like many commuter rail lines, there are slow zones. Thankfully, entire sections of different lines have had complete track replacement. Additionally, Cleveland will start seeing all new train cars soon. Both of these factors will hopefully contribute to a faster ride!
Going to Cleveland soon and used your video as "research." Thank you!

I didn’t even know Cleveland had a subway!
Now you know... haha)))

I believe they technically classified it as commuter/heavy rail, surprisingly.

@@rideurbanrail Does your Subway go out into the suburbs?
Great video! You need to do the Blue & Green lines as well! You briefly showed their light rail cars while riding through Central Rail.

I like to take the redline from brookpark to terminal tower, its way easier than driving down there, and cheaper
I take it for any event in the downtown area. Just makes sense, especially with what they charge for parking anymore.
That system seems to be a cross between PATH and the LIRR
The Long Island Railroad and the NYC subway trains use 3rd rail. The Cleveland subway and light rail system uses overhead trolley wires.
@@luislaplume8261 I know that, And, Thank you for your reply.
Nice system
Why didn’t you go to Windermere tho?
@@Jacksxb The video file for the last section was lost. But I did go to Windermere that day )
Seems to be running very slow?
At some places
