100% correct, Panthor should ALWAYS be flocked. Definitely where the most appeal and nostalgia lies in Panthor! Great review as always sir, big fan!
I swear when i was in the isle looking at the he-man figures, i got light-headed with flashbacks. These figures are still awesome and loving the articulation

I found a pair late last night before closing at walmart. Couldn't believe it.
Me: Looks at my Megaconstrux Flocked Panthor with Skeletor. "You'll do just fine".
I was shocked to actually find one of these in my local Walmart. The only thing the Walmarts in my area ever carried was He-Man, Skeletor and Battlecat. I found two after going to three Walmarts.
Getting tired of store exclusives that you just can’t find.
It's like they don't want to sell toys.

Minor correction: Non-flocked Panthor is $25 while flocked is $40, so it’s a $15 difference rather than $20. Still too much of a difference.
as to the price? the Flock feature made a huge difference, it made it less plasticky & toyish looking, & added weight to the figure
I also love the overall look of this guy! Yes, Panthor should always be flocked. I bought one at Wal-Mart last night. They only had one left in stock - no more scheduled to arrive. If you're lucky to find one at your local Wal-mart like I did, don't hesitate to buy him because they're more expensive online. Yes, this flocked version of Panthor is going to be really hard to find.

As crappy as the price is, the Super 7 Skeletor looks amazing on this flocked Origins Panthor! It's literally like a scene straight out of the Filmation cartoon 😍😍😍
Found one in the wild yesterday, I bought it with the gift card I got for Christmas and only had to pay around $17 extra. Second time I’ve seen it pop up at my local Walmart, so I knew I had to grab it when I had the chance. 😁✌️
You say that $20 more than the unflocked version is outrageous, but lets be honest he will be worth 10x that in a few months
Now that they are readily available, not actually worth nearly as much.
I agree every panthor should be flocked, I agree that the classics Panthor should've been flocked too and I also agree the 20USD extra is outrageous. In Europe we don't have Walmart so it's available on every online shop but it's a bit more expensive as all the imported action figures are. Thanks for the review Dan.

Great review Dan! And yes Panthor should always be flocked. There are 3 of these at my local Walmarts right now and I picked up the standard Panthor at Target for $9.00!! Even though the flocked looks 10 times better but I'm happy with the standard release.

I fully agree. Panthor should always be flocked. Look how it just pops. Many fond memories with the vintage one... even if I didn’t have a skeletor.

You know, I always felt the flocking helped make up for the lack of helmet like we got with Battle Cat. At least Classics compensated for the lack of flocking by creating a new helmet for Panthor whereas in Origins the lack of flocking (or an Origins version of the Classics helmet which I would have loved) already made it feel like less of a deal than you get with Battle Cat. For that reason, I just cant stomach the $20 price hike and if I ever do see one of these in the wild, I'll likely pass. I like the nostalgia factor the line has going for it, but this overblown price hike is a case of it being weaponized against collectors. My two cents anyway.
I for one agree that Panthor should and must always be flocked; otherwise he should be called by another name. This new guy looks gorgeous; Mattel has done a terrific job with him. I do agree, though, that the ankles/paws deserve to be articulated, otherwise just moving his legs around is pointless because you can't actually pose him with much range of motion because of those stiff ankles. Great vid as always!

Walmart Toy sections are currently shut down deemed to be non-essential right now in lockdown here in Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 so I am probably just out of luck when it comes to finding this bad boy & $40 USD means it will be about $60! CAD here in Canada. Seems like we’re the ones getting flocked

As iconic as the flocking is, I’m going to stick with the normal release so my wallet doesn’t suffer a heart attack.
Found 2 flocked Panthers sitting on a shelf tonight - could not believe it, was able to take one home. Are you guys getting any 200x vibes regarding the scarcity of distribution on items like wave 2? I have been able to get everything except the now likely impossible Keldor and Kronis 2pk, word on the street is that they are supposed to go live on the 25th but some folks are finding them this week.
I'm pleasantly surprised by the flocked feel. It's like petting a dog with super short, fine hair. I also like the flocked beans under the feet. I really love this panthor! I see the un-flocked version today at Target and man does that version not look right. Panthor should be flocked bar none in my opinion.

Regular Panthor cost $25. Flocked $40. $15 difference. Still too much but I bought (2) of them today. All in all I'm happy to have them.
I saw a couple of them the other day. He looks awesome, but I already have the regular one and couldn't justify having two.
I may never find this guy out in the wild, but at least I got my Mega Construx flocked Panthor!

That's soft touch overlay, it's a pretty common newer printing technique, I use it in a lot of the package design jobs I do. That's cool that they used it, but yeah I was expecting a FLOCKED box. :D
I was fortunate enough to find the Flocked Panthor last week. it was my first time seeing one at all. Also seen the G.I. Joe Classified Series figures too! (Shocking!) I went to pay for the two figures (Cobra Viper and Panthor) my mouth dropped and I asked the sales associate “how much?” I still bought it because MOTU was my favorite cartoon as a kid and He-Man was my hero. Talk about sticker shock though! Lol Still an awesome product line of figures!

Wow, $20 more than the non flocked one? Sadly, I'll be passing on this. With it being an exclusive, it'll be hard to find and the scalpers will probably be asking double the retail price for it.
You're absolutely right, Mattel should have given us this one from the start.
To me, flocked Panthor represents the vintage toy, while the unflocked version is more like a representation of the Filmation character (though the eyes are yellow instead of green). I do agree that the price difference is a downer though. Good luck to those looking for the version they prefer. Just my two cents.
Nice review. Agreed on the flocking too - although, that said, given the huge price difference, I can also see people preferring the unflocked version. I actually got the "naked" Panthor and am not planning to also get the flocked one. At basically twice the price, not worth it to me.

I got mine at WAL-MART there were two more left those for others. A friend called and said they had 5 at a nearby WAL-MART but I'm not sure how many were produced.

Completely agree Panthor should always have been flocked, the fact that they made it exclusive, more expensive is a shocking act of money grabbing by Mattel
He's right the Box is softer but I was thinking they meant the inside box holding the Mount would be flocked seems like I remember the inside box from the original being flocked in a Red or Purple.
Great review Pixel Dan! I do agree with you that its overpriced at $40. If they had given us the flocking and articulation in the paws then it might be worth the extra cost. Also, when they talked about the flocked box, I thought it was the inside red portion of the packaging that was going to be flocked? I didn't get the impression that the entire box would be flocked. I'm guessing you didn't noticed the inside was flocked either or you would have mentioned it.
Interestingly enough a year later these are very easy to get as they are just stacked up

our Walmart only just started stocking these. says still in stock at my local store. I didn't pay attention when i glanced at them as I didn't know a flocked one existed and I didn't like the poor articulation when i had seen the other version at Target..

got mine yesterday....went in for grocery decided to go check the aisle bare bones except for 2 of these....it's a very nice peice..don't care for the plastic one now..

I totally agree that the price spike is ridiculous, but I dont understand what you mean by how hard Walmart exclusives are to acquire. There's 3 Walmarts just in your area. I'm over 2 hours away from there and still have good luck when I'm hunting that turf. Walgreens exclusives have always been my Kryptonite.

The original Panthor was one solid piece to flock (minus the mouth). This one is several pieces and needs to be flocked strategically around joints. Being assembled before packaging need to be taken into consideration. Perhaps that is why this is $15.00 higher than the normal release for this line...
I like this version of Panthor better, m, and it reminds the Panthor of the 80s
This Panthor is kinda like the vintage one and the 200x one. The original one is like the MOTUC version.

Yeah when I found mine I was like wait a minute $40 oh my God but the standard release is not $20 it's actually $25 so it's a $15 difference but still sucks either way

I'm late to the party I just ordered him onily cost £30 compare to £50 in the UK when it first came out I refuse to get the standard edition so wateing 2 years and I'm happy I did
