When we were leaving my son's doctor's appointment last Thursday we came across a mom and her little boy, maybe he was 3 or so? I noticed he was carrying a He-Man figure in his hand and I was like "Waitaminute, that's ORIGINS He-Man!!" so as they came closer I went "Hey! You got He-Man!" and the kid turned to me with this big grin on his face as if I just spoke a secret code word. "Hey buddy, he knows He-Man!" his Mom said "My little guy loves He-Man! He has all of his father's toys too!". When I asked were they got him, she said Wal-Mart which shocked me as it's not even remotely Fall yet. Classics ran for 12 years. That's over a decade of Classics figures, which is a really nice run. I think there is a place for this line in the world now especially since it's A) In scale with the vintage line, B) Has a more MotU toy line style to it and C) Is at retail where kids can find them. My little guy just turned 5 in March so Origins is going to be how he remembers MotU when he's older. That makes me more excited for this line then anything else about it.
I’m 40, never collected he-man at all, or remembered it much from childhood. This origins line, for whatever reason appeals to me, and now I’m a motu collector. I guess whether you’re 5 or 40 this is where the first real memories of he-man begin....or shall I say “originate” :)
I have to say, I randomly bought this figure and I just adore it. I'm not even a MOTU fan. It's just a solid little figure that is a lot of fun in both the looks and posing dept.
Something similar happened to me. I bought the he-man and Skeletor figures only for nostalgia sake’s without thinking that I was gonna buy anymore figures. since I’m not a collector, nor I was looking forward to collecting this line. But I saw Cacp encountering them in the toy isles while I was looking for other toys it’s like they started to become more appealing to me. I saw beastman and tri-Klops at Walmart and I passed on them because I wasn’t collecting them. Then at another Wal-Mart I saw Teela and I gave to temptation and bought it. After that I started buying them figure after figure and now I became a collector. 😂and I’m a bit obsessed I can say.
When they reboot He-Man in the 2000 era. I really liked what they did with series. I admit I cherry picked a couple figures and got castle Grayskull...but I was always anticipating maybe a new snake mountain. Maybe with these and Kevin Smith's He-Man series coming out, maybe the Motu will resurface in a big way.
Oh man! The same thing happened to me. I’m not a big fun of re inventing the shoes so I disliked the other versions of He-man a great deal. But when I saw these I experienced the same euphoria I would experience when I saw these at toy stores when I was a kid. So I’m loving it!!
I wonder if we'll get a Shadow Beast in the line as they feature in the mini comic? It would be nice getting something we haven't had before in the vintage style rather than purely vintage toy updates.
When you do a bad face sculpt for the two primary characters thats not a good start for the line, paint work is sloppy too. However i like the idea of interchangeable parts and they have a vintage look to them, so depends on price point if they are good value or not. Might be a toy you would get your kids to get them into the line.
I'm hoping for classic heads on variant figures like Battle Armor Skeletor, or in some sort of accessory pack. I legit like this head better than the regular MOTUC head. Although I'd love to see that peg shaved down a little and the Alcala head on there, maybe with vintage harness and skirt?
Mattel and Wal mart have really started this off horribly, really sucks they dont tell anybody anything, I guess they love these hording scalpers, I really dont even like these review videos, it's almost like "look what I got " Mattel SUCKS as far as keeping people up to date except for the special few I guess, if this first wave is not available for everybody then I'm saying the hell with the whole line, Sideshow makes plenty of cool statues I can spend my money on instead
thespaceram2, I grew up on he man, g I joe and transformers action figures, but I certainly love statues, HOWEVER this was a line I was gonna get behind big time, but Mattel and Wal mart have rolled this out HORRIBLY, why in God's name did they release a few figures and allow ebay scalpers to buy 30 at a time? Its truly unfair to allow this to go on, Mattel should care about the fans of this line not having to pay outrageous prices on ebay because of this type garbage release, if this first wave isnt released soon so everyone has a chance I'm out on it all and anybody on here that pays those Ebay scalpers is a idiot, and YOU are the reason they continue to buy them all
I got lucky today. I found the whole wave this morning and got one of each. I still haven't found Battlecat and the Skysled with Prince Adam. These go well with the Masters of the WWE.
I am loving these from what I am seeing. The thing that seems to be being forgotten in all reviews I'm seeing is that from an 'introducing this to kids perspective' it will eventually be supported by the Netflix series.
I agree. Its almost like the vintage Battle Cat is more like Cringer and the Classics Battle Cat is this hulking beast like he's meant to be. I also think these figures scale better with the Classics Castle Grayskull and the upcoming Snake Mountain. BTW, I'm a big fan of your website. I've bought a few items there and it was a great experience.
Hey dan I just found your channel yesterday and i also have just started my own he man collection with super 7 this week past. I,m loving your reviews I,ve collected anime figures before so im really excited about starting a new collection of one of my favorite 80s properites
Love these Dan's reviews, very enjoyable and informative! Greetings from Finland, keep it up! I've pre-ordered this Skeletor figure among He-Man and Man-at-arms. I already have Super7's He-Man, Skeletor, Man-at-arms and Trapjaw vintage versions. Very cool and reminds me from my childhood ^^
My 2 big complaints for Skeletor and He-Man are the head sculptures, the original sculps were awesome. Secondly, they shoukd have had the original mini comics. Those were so cool. Cooler than the Filmation cartoon.
Great review Dan! The nostalgia feels are strong with these, lol. I think I'm definitely down for the OGs. This Skeletor head gives me a Robot Chicken vibe, lol. The packaging looks so good I might get some to keep in package.
I am VERY late to the He-Man party. :) Just picked up He-Man, Battle Cat, Skeletor and Panthor this weekend. And they are fantastic. I would like a better head for He-Man but I am VERY pleased overall.
I cannot overstate just how excited that I am for these. I didn't discover the Classics or Super 7's retro line until it was too late and really, that isn't my He-Man and I'm not interested in buying expensive toys made for collectors. I was 4 when the cartoon debuted and what I love most about Origins is that these will eventually be accessible on retail store pegs so that kids young and old will again be able to experience MOTU. More news on the cartoon sequel cannot come soon enough.
I got him earlier today and broke him in 5 minutes, turns out the elbow joint in the left arm was defective, it got stuck and the peg snapped, so that sucks, but hey that’s what super glue is for I suppose
Jabba the Hutt or Cobra Commander One chains attractive women to his throne, eats live frogs, watches people die for amusement. The other is a giant slug.
Much like the He-Man...the head sculpts are the only thing I’m finding odd on these. Either way, I have made room on my MOC MOTU wall for when these are released.
It’s funny how we all have different opinions. What made me decide to collect this line was the fact of the new He-man face sculpt has a more filmation feeling without losing the vintage vibe making it appealing to me since I never quite like the vintage face sculpt at all.
My skeletor was picked up from Walmart online. Just moving the arm, it snapped right off. There is a little thin peg holding the arms together. I spoke to Mattel on Facebook and I'm getting a replacement. I also felt the figure felt cheap and the baby doll face made me not want to buy any others from the line.
It's cool they are trying to revamp the series and market it to the next s generation of kids. I think they are kind of cool trying to represent the vintage toys. But those heads!, ahh. Good luck to the line, hope it grows and sells Well as long introduces vintage head sculpt some how in separate packs. AS A COLLECTOR, THANK GOD FOR THE CLASSICS LINE!!. I could not ask for a better modern update to MOTU!.
I agree completely. I also hope this line grows the brand well and paves the way for the return of MOTU Classics . . . someday. In a couple of years or so. When we've had a chance to save up some money. Then, I'd be all in! 😉
Another great review Pixel Dan. I'm surprised that neither you or Toy Bro covered the fact that these figures have peg holes in the feet. I think that is great for putting them on figure stands if necessary. I hate the loop figure stands for the vintage figures because the feet rarely fit in place and don't hold well. Also as others have noted, the face sculpts aren't the greatest on these. However, the fact that the heads are interchangeable gives me hope Mattel will give us an extra accessories pack with vintage heads that can be put on instead.
An interesting thing is that the Snake mountain wrestling ring from the MOTWWEU line has like a ramp (based on the Snake Mountain bridge) with peg holes on it.
The sword that came with my vintage Skeletor had a male attachment on the sword like He-man's did so I never knew the two were supposed to click together. I just thought it was some weird design. Did anyone else have this?
That often came with the Dragon Blaster Skeletor sword. The Original and Battle Armour Skeletors usually had the "slot" sword. My DB Skeletor had the tab version, too.
This Skeletor figure along with the He-Man classic figure are so cool and fun that even a no fan could have a big interest to buy them. Great work from Mattel.
Hopefully they release a weapon pack with the whole sword for both and the vintage head for heman ! maybe some extra hands, a holster for skeletor's sword , etc !
Okay, I just looked online to see if I can pre-order these. All Walmart.com only says is that it's out of stock. So, are they already available for retail? Walmart is really fudging up this whole thing to me.
I'd love to see Mattel re-issue the Classics Shadow Beast as part of the Origins line. It'd scale well with the smaller figures and make them look really large and imposing.
So I had to double check this after these videos, because I know I already tried it; they changed the head-ball size from the MOTWWEU figures. My Classics TP He-man head fits just fine, though, just a little snug, on my MOTU Cena figure, and Cena's pops on, but is loose on the TPHM body.
The UK release of this figure is missing a ton of writing on the packaging, including the bio, comic and cross sell ... vastly inferior to the USA release of the packaging.
As I've said before, if they marketed this as "Robot Chicken Skeletor", it would've gone from an 'Eh!' figure to an awesome figure. It's all in the marketing...IMHO, of course! Happy for people that think he's an awesome figure and I personally hope they offer a new head sculpt with future variants.
@@eddiemus78 I loved the articulation on this figure, however I'd been collecting the Masters of the Universe Classics line since 2009, so I was used to the amazing sculpts by the Four Horsemen, loved the 6 inch scale and hated that a line that seemed to be a step back had taken its place. Since then, the Masterverse line has come out and the New Eternia subline in particular has calmed me down and somewhat alleviated my hatred of Origins. It is what it is, Classics is done and Origins have their fan base. I've moved on and am happy to collect the Masterverse line while others enjoy Origins.
the left elbow bend on mine is locked, looks like excess glue in there. any fixes? i have one still in package. I bought two so i could customize one a little.
Seeing as I’m far too young to have grown up with He-Man, I’m interested in getting at least the Skeletor figure to see what’s up. Plus he looks kinda goofy and I think it’ll be fun to use him alongside some more serious McFarlane figures.
And I'll say this as well...I wish we had more Funko Savage World coming than these. They had some cool sketches for new figures that never saw the light of day. That Universal Monsters line looked sick! My Horror figures, Thundercats, DC, and Street Fighter figures look awesome! I cry a little each time I remember that we didn't get the Conan movie figures in that style as well...
I should have asked the Mom I ran into which Wal-Mart she got him at, she had just said "we got him at Wal-Mart", but she didn't say if she got him online or not. Gah! Oppurtunity missed!🤦♂️
Love the idea, I like the figures for the most part, but not a fan of the heman and skeletor head sculpts. That's what has me on the fence whether to get them or not.
I just scored a Skelly on eBay for a total of $24 shipped, so I feel good not feeding the scalpers too much, if at all. Stoked to get him and begin my collection of Origins!
@@eddiemus78 Wow. Good job digging up a super old comment. I paid close to $10 shipping, if I remember correctly, so no I didn’t, smart guy. At that point, they hadn’t begun flooding the stores yet in my area, so I paid the $15 plus shipping.
Very very happy for those wanting more of the retro feel in their figures but personally. Im very very happy I chose to stay away from the line until they hit shelves. Im done with the same figured version goodness knows how many at this point. Love the lore love the series but I'd like to see them do something actually new.
man, I was excited about this line when it was announced, but if I am honest, I am disappointed with what I've seen so far. the heads on both he-man and skeletor leave much to be desired. there's a few other little issues I have too but they could make them simple yet have nicer head sculpts and paint jobs.
I know the orange was a mistake that was only on the first shipment of figures, but I really hope to see it return on like Battle Armor Skeletor or something. I have no nostalgia for the vintage line (I had some 200X figures and Castle Grayskull as a kid, though), but something about the orange just feels right.
Hello. Do you remember a show with gorillas in space suits( astronaut) who also have action figures? Im struggling to find. If you have some information i apreciate. Thanks for the videos
I'd love to be able to get every good guy and bad guy and their h7deouts and vehicles that were ever made from the Filmation series I'm still surprised Jitsu was in one cartoon episode and that one was titled: "The Dragon Invasion" I think Faker was only in one episode also but I cant remember the title of it
Use a hairdryer on your MOTUC heads. They fit fine on the MOTWWEU figures. I'm also not a fan of this Skeletor head, reminds me of the car commercial that was done a few years ago
In my opinion the motu classics vehicles, beasts, fit very good from its size to the origins scale. I miss a little the real Action features. But it is just the beginning...

Seeing as I’m far too young to have grown up with He-Man, I’m interested in getting at least the Skeletor figure to see what’s up. Plus he looks kinda goofy and I think it’ll be fun to use him alongside some more serious McFarlane figures.
Like with He-Man, I am so not okay with the head-sculpt. Hope we're getting alts.
Tim Pool: New Skeletor action figure released, does this mean civil war?.
Poolor - Heroic (?) Master of Mass Hysteria.
Answer me this guys: why did Walmart put them online for sale for a couple days? Is that it or are they coming in stores?
They’ll be available in stores this fall
I should have asked the Mom I ran into which Wal-Mart she got him at, she had just said "we got him at Wal-Mart", but she didn't say if she got him online or not. Gah! Oppurtunity missed!🤦♂️
I'm not so happy about the paint app on the face.
I think it looks awesome
The heads sculpt and paint job on these new figures are painfully ugly...as well as the crotch era, but at least Skeletor's crotch era is hidden
The thick black lines on his mouth especially look so sloppy.
Love the idea, I like the figures for the most part, but not a fan of the heman and skeletor head sculpts. That's what has me on the fence whether to get them or not.
In my case the new head sculpt is what made me get into collecting them.
I just scored a Skelly on eBay for a total of $24 shipped, so I feel good not feeding the scalpers too much, if at all.
Stoked to get him and begin my collection of Origins!
If you paid $24 it looks like you did.
@@eddiemus78 Wow. Good job digging up a super old comment.
I paid close to $10 shipping, if I remember correctly, so no I didn’t, smart guy.
At that point, they hadn’t begun flooding the stores yet in my area, so I paid the $15 plus shipping.
Does it say who does the artwork for the mini comic?
Very very happy for those wanting more of the retro feel in their figures but personally. Im very very happy I chose to stay away from the line until they hit shelves. Im done with the same figured version goodness knows how many at this point.
Love the lore love the series but I'd like to see them do something actually new.
I love your Skeletor voice!
Megatron would have words with you regarding who is the best 80s villain.
He would lose. Skeletor has never been killed. Megatron has, many many times.
@@Rocket1377 Name two.
man, I was excited about this line when it was announced, but if I am honest, I am disappointed with what I've seen so far. the heads on both he-man and skeletor leave much to be desired. there's a few other little issues I have too but they could make them simple yet have nicer head sculpts and paint jobs.
Where get figure ? ?
Dan do you think I they will make origins mosquitor
Am I remembering incorrectly, but I thought he had a moving jaw when they first showed him, right?
Can the filmation super 7 version head fit on this body?
The retro filmation super7?
Why did Mattel stop making classics line figures 😔 ?
Because they didn‘t sell enough.
@@melkor2301because they were impossible to buy with the stupid matty collector thing only
Pixel Dan forever!
Awesome Dan when you do a review on man at arms can you show him with out his armor please
How would you rate the lines? Origins, classic, super7 etc
I think they're all awesome this new line is actually better than the original '80s classics figures
I know the orange was a mistake that was only on the first shipment of figures, but I really hope to see it return on like Battle Armor Skeletor or something. I have no nostalgia for the vintage line (I had some 200X figures and Castle Grayskull as a kid, though), but something about the orange just feels right.
What orange are you talking about?
@@eddiemus78 The first run of vintage Skeletor toys had orange cheeks because of a factory error
Hello. Do you remember a show with gorillas in space suits( astronaut) who also have action figures? Im struggling to find. If you have some information i apreciate. Thanks for the videos
Captain Simian and the Space Monkeys.
It really sucks that these legs can't articulate to properly fit the vintage vehicles. Was really hoping they would work.
The face looks so silly and I just love it
Butterface Skeletor lol, really makes me question buying these
Will they rerelease a classics skeletor any time soon? And Toy Bro is cool. Like his Gremlins reviews
I don't see myself getting many of these from this line. Not a bad line at all. I just can't start over a new line. I do hope it does well.
I'd love to be able to get every good guy and bad guy and their h7deouts and vehicles that were ever made from the Filmation series I'm still surprised Jitsu was in one cartoon episode and that one was titled: "The Dragon Invasion" I think Faker was only in one episode also but I cant remember the title of it
Curious if fearless photon will be in this line
Photog....he's got a camera head.
You should take some pix of origins He-man and Skeletor with a bunch of the play sets
Use a hairdryer on your MOTUC heads. They fit fine on the MOTWWEU figures.
I'm also not a fan of this Skeletor head, reminds me of the car commercial that was done a few years ago
Awsome Action Figure review bro
In my opinion the motu classics vehicles, beasts, fit very good from its size to the origins scale. I miss a little the real Action features. But it is just the beginning...
I need this i got a shelf just for them ill try getting them in wallmart if not ill wait they come out in big bad or other stores
Mega cool, now i want, the toys mask, starcom and gi joe thanks :)
