Oh this is what I was looking for! I was looking for collagen that’s not sourced in Brazil because of the rainforests. Garden of Life it is. It’s a safe choice!
I must say, I researched Garden of Life for last 10 years. I am in love with the company, it’s history and integrity. I can totally work for this amazing company 😊😊But anyways, everything you say is 100% true. I find the Garden of life Collagen the most effective! You see results faster then any other products. And I am talking about plain collagen. Skin gets smooth and clear of bumps and blemishes after one week. It’s absorbs super well especially with Vitamin C added. I never got same results with NeoCell or Vital Protein Brands. In fact Vital proteins made me have bumpy skin and I was pretty disappointed.
Silver Rain I’ve been taking Garden of Life raw meal supplement and my only complaint with them is they switched from brown rice protein to pea protein as their first ingredient with no announcement. I thought they should have been more transparent. I tasted the strong pea flavor and I had my old container and saw they’d made a significant change from brown rice protein as their first ingredient to pea. Natures truth is a grass fed bovine derived collagen. It has 20 grams collagen per dose/scoop. Also there are 3 types of collagen in our bodies. Typically collagen supplements are type 1 & 3. Type 2 should be taken separately.
You can take it with a c supplement, I l use emergenC 1000 mg in with collagen 1 &3. Peptides Vitamin C has been shown to facilitate collagen absorption through the gut. It makes it taste good. Elderberry sugar free if you can get it.
This is a very informative video, and I appreciate the explanations you have behind your views. It’s so much better than most of the videos I’ve seen on here. Thank you.
This video is over two years old now. I heard Garde of Life was taken over and their products are not as good now. Is that true? Also, could have done with some info on Great Lakes and Sports Research CP. Thanks.
Thanks for being so informative. I just discovered CP and want to add it to my supplements but was unsure of which brand to choose. I use the garden of life protein power so this made my research easy with the info you provided. Much appreciated!
How do you like Garden Of Life protein powder? I’ve read rave reviews about it. Think I’m gonna give it a try. As far as collagen, I wish I’d seen this video before buying Vital Proteins earlier this week. I’m gonna finish the tub and then buy Garden Of Life next☺️
Thank you for touching on sourcing, nobody talks about the source of ingredients. I appreciate your thoroughness "Auditing the Chain of Custody" wow, thank you for taking the time to research EVERYTHING and for teaching us to look past "statements"
I went to my local health food store to restock on vital protein, they were out so I was saddened I had to buy Garden of Life, which I had never tried, immediately I noticed a bigger and better difference:-) went back this month for a purchase and Garden and Life was sold out, I was pissed, because for the first time my hair had stopped falling out, can't wait to find Garden & Life, Thank You
Trinidad Valenzuela I believe I was watching a video flav city with Bobby and he was talking about garden of life brand he has a you tube channel very knowledgeable and informative hope it helps you!
Thank you very informative video! It was so helpful!! :) I think I will try the vital protein one as the others are too expensive for shipping to Canada
Wow I just bought Garden of Life Collegen!! I used to use Vital Proteins, but Garden of Life happened to be on sale! I'm glad I purchased it:-))) Thank YOu!!
It's always a balance between our conscience and our pocketbook! I get it! I struggled with this myself...I'd rather people use less of a higher quality and better sourced product that is more expensive than use a lot of something cheap that is poorly sourced or poorly made. These products will all work well, so you can price shop. But there are subtle differences in the sourcing and the guarantees on the sourcing. It makes a global difference.
Hi...Im 50...can I still try collageen at this age ?I have hair loss and my skin looks dying 😣 .I live in South America and its mostly warm /hot temperature .I also pee every one hour so Im like a dry tree .Please help .TFS 💖
@@mimienmelmiya8121 Absolutely!!! If you are from South America you have collagen in your traditional diet. This kind of powder is a convenient and clean short cut. We all should start at 25, but late is better than never! Also it's so good to support joint health.
Excellent! You're doing something good for both you and the sustainability of farming and ranching. Stick with it! Collagen and peptides have long term benefits you'll see over the years to come, even in your gut health, which translates to your skin and immune health.
@@AmberLynnVitale hi amber what does it mean if you break out on collagen peptide I only take one scoop a day is it because my body is rejecting it im taking bullet proof please I need your advice
I picked up the garden of life one, it has probiotics and also it is grass-fed and a bit cheaper I even got free shipping on iherb! I hope it works well! I am 30 years old male and I love running but lately I noticed my joints aching every time I run! I do not consume fish or alot of meat so I guess I need more collagen, will 10g a day work well for joints? I wanna use only 1 scoop because I cant afford buying one every month and I do not need it for wrinkles because am not older, thanks alot for the video!
At 30 years of age, 10g is likely sufficient, start there! If you bought the plain, the scoop should be 20g of peptides. You can do half a scoop and it will last twice as long!
I just find out that Garden of life meal replacement chocolate flavor is one of the worst for contaminants, pesticides and heavy metal ! And is the one I use !! It scored the lowest with the clean Label project!!!!!!!
So glad I’ve bought my first order of collagen and it happens to be the one you speak to highly about😄 I just read online reviews and really liked what was stated about Garden of life - I’m 26 and just want to see benefits of collagen, in terms of beauty🤗; I hear starting as early as possible can be good, I can’t wait for the results :) Thank you for sharing this video ! 🙂
Thank you for the informative video! I'm so glad I came across this video. Question please : What do you know and think about LiveWell collagen peptides? It came up as #1 recommended when I googled for best collagen peptides. Thank you in advance!
Always. At every step of sourcing and manufacturing. Any company that sells their products in California and does not have a label that says something like, "WARNING:This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm," has conducted testing on their finished goods, at least, and determined that they meet the safety requirements for heavy metals established by California Proposition 65. Check this link where the American Herbal Products Association explains what this law means. www.ahpa.org/Portals/0/PDFs/Member-Only/Prop_65_Herbal_Products.pdf For Garden of Life's policy and traceability you can look here www.gardenoflife.com/content/en-ca/about-garden-of-life/testing/
WOW! Excellent video! VERY informative! You just taught me a whole lot! Wish I’d ran across this before buying Vital Proteins two days ago. I’ll try Garden Of Life once I finish Vital Proteins
duke6j some of theirs is. Some is not. But that is quite unimportant. If it were a clinically researched amount of eggshell membrane or chicken cartilage they would list that. Anyone would. That’s the only time it matters. Otherwise, Type 1&3 collagen is suitable for all applications. Multi collagen is a marketing gimmick.
Thanks for the update. In the future I'll try Garden of Life. I tried several, but some of them were a little clumpy as I swallowed them. Like there were a small piece of jello in them. The brand I take now doesn't have that.
@@duke6j It dissolves really well, hot or cold. The new CBD Collagen and the Super Beauty don't dissolve as well only because there are some lipid components that create some clumping. But it's not jello balls, just dry clumps.
Excellent presentation. Very easy to listen to, and follow the details. So many people just ramble on as though they are on a phone call to a friend. This is a well written, and very helpful guide. And....I'm going to try the Nature's Garden. I've used their other supplements with success...but didn't even know they carried collagen.
Been crying out for help to get the gd one collagen. I checked on amazon everything is negative comments. And God brought you here right now I will buy this and hope I will be happy as well 😍
Well done study. HOWEVER, GardenofLife ie xtremly high in arsenic compared to about 20 other brands. Whereas Zint is zero in all heavy metals. I'm sticking w/ Zint or DoNotAge (British)
Any product sold in all 50 states including California without a warning sticker will be Proposition 65 compliant. Prop 65 a law in California with the strictest standards for heavy metals, more strict than EPA. GOL products in CA have no warning stickers, meaning they have very low heavy metals or would be severely fined and ordered to desist sales. Look for this in all your products to know the ACTUAL heavy metal content! Even better, check out my new coverage of the first ever Certified Organic Collagen Peptides! ua-cam.com/video/9fO36OodfWY/v-deo.htmlsi=LCvuvDwY5Xtmp4R5
Native Path....1 through 3 in kosher/grass fed organic collagen peptides.... rated #1 now on many surveys I also started out on Bulletproof as well and Vital proteins is ok .... l also love Garden of life as well an get most of my raw vitamin supplementation from them (best in my research overall)
Do you know if native path has good certification of where their cows really are source from? I had been taking it to, but think I want to try garden life.
I think Garden of Life is the only one which has Non-gmo right? Btw, Bobby Parrish says Primal Kitchen and Garden of Life collagen are the two best. What about for the gut? I eat organic greek yogurt unflavored, but was wondering about any other options. Also will these products help men the same way they help women? Also is it best to take this collagen on empty stomach and how long do i need to wait after taking it before i have a meal? Sorry for all these questions. I'm a guy and new to all this stuff. Thanks.
GOL is the only brand in which the whole line is both IGEN certified nonGMO and Paleo Certified 100% Grass Fed, Forage Fed and Pastured. Collagen Peptides are great for the gut lining, joints, skin, hair, nails, discs and will help men and women equally. Men make more collagen as a part of their genetic and hormonal make up, dammit. ;-) I think all collagen gives the biggest bang for the buck on an empty stomach, even 1/2 hour before a meal or 2 hrs. after a meal. But having some in a coffee or smoothie and some on empty covers your bases pretty well.
@@inquisitvem6723 The type you make in your teeth is 1 and probably 3 in adhering them to bone and gums. There are studies ongoing with dietary supplementation of types 1 and 3 peptides. Also there is a matrix made of unhydrolyzed collagen used in periodontal surgery rather than grafting. The idea behind taking oral peptides type 1 and 3 is that they have the amino acid profile to build any collagenous structure in your body. And types 1 and 3 are the most abundant in your body. Of course Vitamin C is crucial, remember Scurvy? Their teeth fell out due to lack of fresh food. So a Bovine Collagen Peptide supplement really covers all your bases. With a less than optimal diet, add in the C and biotin and silica. Magnesium too.
Luis Rodriguez While the peptides will work, AN overstates the importance of multiple types of collagen. Also, they make up their “circles”...meaning they make it look like they have third party certs like Paleo and non-gmo but they’re actually just circled statements. No proof no audit. That makes me mad.
I love Garden of Life, but they have so many different types of collagen type 1, 2, and 3............. on the other hand I really love Garden of Life’s greens mix!!! 😉
Ms. Hari Review the info on types. Really most brands are using predominantly type 1 & 3 and that’s all you need to build your own collagen. All types are high In glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline. In Garden of Life Turmeric collagen, it’s 10g type 1&3 and and clinically researched small amount of type 2 from chicken cartilage to support a healthier immune response in the joints. It’s a separate purpose. I love the greens too!!! ❤️
Hi great video and very informative. I currently taking vital proteins that has HLA added as well. I do love garden of life and use the protein now. Could you explain the beauty blend used in the callogen and why garden of life chose those ingredients and benefits??
The GOL Beauty collagen included Vitamin C, Biotin, and Silica, all from whole botanical sources. These assist the body in assembling Collagen, Keratin, and Elastin and so are important co-factors. I call them the screws and the tools to put your pre-cut boards together (the peptides) to build your custom deck. Supplementing HLA is like getting it from bone broth, so I see the point, but the body has to digest and reuse it just like other food compounds. You can promote your own HLA production by adding Magnesium and Vitamin C to your peptide intake as Glycine, C and Mg are crucial for HLA formation.
Hi Trinidad! I'm sorry but I call BS (get the pun? ;-)) on Live Well "certifications". All they are doing is making statements. There is no US supply chain for entirely grass fed beef hides. It does not exist currently. You have to look for the 3rd party certifications I discuss in this video and in my deeper dive on what to look for in this video ua-cam.com/video/hVkXnYXeV1U/v-deo.html
I saw an ad for Vitauthority and decided to cancel my Vital Protiens subscription because Vitauthority claims to have several types of collagen and more cost efficient although when my tub arrived it’s really small and has 40 servings but it says to take 2-3 servings in the beginning so technically there aren’t 40 whole servings and it’s not as cheap as they claim it to be. Are you at all familiar with this brand?? Thank you for this wonderful informative video !!
Hi there! I’m not, but please see recent comments and my replies about Collagen Types. Also, you can look for my video about collagen and what’s important. ua-cam.com/video/hVkXnYXeV1U/v-deo.html
Hi Joan! Have you done your research? Like really looked into it? I don't say that to provoke you, but to draw you and other consumers into the awareness that you are each responsible to investigate anything you put into your body, or on it. But there are verifying third parties that help you do this. I talk about it in this video, I talk about it in other videos on my channel, teaching people how to know if their products are clean or not. California is the strictest state with respect to contaminants. Their Prop 65 Standards are stricter than EPA standards. As for Garden of Life, they sell the same exact products in California as everywhere else, and are not require to place a warning on their labels. To avoid a sticker on your products that says "WARNING: This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm" all products must be third party tested and certified, including for heavy metals. Here is a link from the American Herbal Products Association looking at the issue which carries over into herbals, and both plant and animal product concentrates. www.ahpa.org/Portals/0/PDFs/Member-Only/Prop_65_Herbal_Products.pdf There is also a page on the Garden of Life website covering testing, here: www.gardenoflife.com/content/about/why-gol/testing/ Finally, blogs are out there on the internet and can be written by ANYONE. Blogs are expecially written by people trying to sell their own products by putting down others, and are called "special reports" or the like. Some are spot on, some are full of BS. It's hard to tell the difference, I give you that! But go back to official 3rd party testing and certification, it's a valid checks and balances system to get the best assurances possible. Be well!
Amber Lynn Vitale no I haven’t done extensive research I just heard from a reliable source that info on garden of life brand maybe others as well in all honesty I think all of it is hoaxy and could cause more harm than good in my opinion from reading up on collagen powder products: just saying I’m not a Dr or a nutritionist
Bulletproof collagen protein comes from cows that spend most of their lives in pasture, eating grass. I bought two cans I found it at the HEB store for 30 dollars each can . I also ordered garden of life collagen peptides for 34 dollars online. I have my mom taking resveratrol she has lots of pain on her stomach every morning so I got her some gelatin collagen two can for 55 dollars. I think I’m starting to feel better but I don’t know I have a bad liver problem and every year I see a doctor that will put me to sleep with propofol a very heavy drug so I want him to stop I hope you can tell me something I don’t know.
PlZzz this will be my first collagen purchase . What do you think about Myoxcience ? This pops up as the #1 collagen product and would love to know your thoughts before I purchase it ? Thank u for any info you cAn provide !!!
Tonya Koceja their product will work well. The have some patented collagen peptide hydrolysates, they may contain shorter peptide chains and thus be better or faster absorbed by people with a compromised gut lining. But they will generally work just as well as any of the others discussed in this video and in the comment section here. However, I have still only ever found 2 companies with Paleo Foundation certification, assuring that the animals are 100% Grass Fed, Forage Fed, and Pastured. Garden of Life and Zint. So if you care about sourcing, they are the best sourced.
Absolutely! It's a great idea! There are some premixed products out there, but I like to adjust mine as needed by buying each separately. You can have a whole food C, a good B-complex, a good MSM, and a magnesium powder and put it all together in one drink quite successfully!
GrassFed- Andy Well Andy, it will work as well as any other collagen hydrolysate, and they’ve gone to the effort to get certified as having Paleo and Keto friendly ingredients. But there is a difference between Paleo Friendly and Paleo Certified. Paleo friendly standards state herbivores must be “pastured”. That’s it. Full Paleo states “100% grass fed, forage fed, and pastured.” That’s what I’m looking for. You can find those links in the video notes.
So glad! If you like check out this video so you know what to always look for in case your favorite brand is not available! ua-cam.com/video/hVkXnYXeV1U/v-deo.html
It is important to choose a "hydrolyzed" collagen, which ensures that the supplement is bioavailable or will absorb well into your body. Hydrolyzation makes the collagen particles small enough to be efficiently used by humans. Also, we recommend ensuring that the ingredients are listed as non-GMO or organic. Look for testing certifications like cGMP and make sure the brand is transparent about where the ingredients come from (which country) and where the product was made.
Yes, they are powders to be mixed in some kind of liquid. There are always flavored options out there, or plain mixes easily into a coffee or green drink. Capsules are the most expensive and least efficient way to take collagen peptides.
very informative, thanks. however, I'm from Belgium and when I look for the Gardens of Live in Holland or Germany, it says the product comes from the US. strange!
How are the animals slaughtered ? I‘m referring to the Garden of Life collagen ...It has no kosher certification so I really need to know more about that...
Esma Bilgin Germany (Garden of Life’s source) has a whole manifesto available online about the proper treatment of animals while alive and during the slaughtering process. Pretty amazing really. I have a link on my computer and will try to post it soon.
Any food can contain heavy metals, even if certified organic. but how much is the question. There are verifying third parties that help you know this. Neocell is now Paleo Friendly and also has IGEN non-GMO certification, so they are on the right track now! The difference between Paleo Friendly and Paleo is the strictness of the pastured and grass fed standard. Paleo Friendly standards read, "Herbivores must be pastured" but does not speak to feed. Certified Paleo is more specific and strict, "Herbivores must be 100% grassfed, forage-fed, and pastured." See the subtle difference? Garden of Life guarantees the animals are from Germany, and the Paleo cert assures the feed is grass and forage, not palm kernels or grains. You can find these documents as links in the description below the video!
GrassFed- Andy GrassFed- Andy Every company sells by weight and number of servings. Different product densities settle differently, so sometimes it’s a technical issue and sometimes it’s about bottle size on the shelf for marketing visibility. Always check serving size and number of servings when comparing products!!! We all have to train ourselves to interpret labels so we can get our money’s worth.
@@AmberLynnVitale Hey I like the product but if they made an effort to fill it to the top I would not feel like I was getting jipped, a lot of nutrition companies do that from my experience so you have to keep on buying every month, remember it's all about chasing that dollar!!!
GrassFed- Andy Getting it by the bag or tub is the most cost effective way to consume it. Watch my Before You Buy video on collagen peptides and certifications to know how to get the most of your purchase. I don’t make products, so I have to read labels carefully too!

CMV Robison Collagen in skin is mostly Type I and III collagen. From cartilage would be Type II. But remember, whether from skin/hides, fish scales or cartilage, chicken skin or bones and cartilage, or eggshell membranes, it all is high in proline, hydroxyproline, and glycine pre-linked in peptide chains. These are the main combos you need to rebuild your own collagen-any of the types you need to make all over your body. Collagen type matters more in fresh bone broth, where other ingredients like glycosaminoglycans make the difference for specific conditions. Thanks for watching!
Hi There! I'm sure it works, but it has ZERO third party certifications to verify claims. So you know nothing about sourcing. If you're price shopping it looks like a good deal, but the price actually makes me suspicious on sourcing. No country of origin even. Remember just testing out collagen is one thing but you cannot test 10 products and say which worked best because you are only one person and the first product you test is still influencing you when you move to the second and so on. You can test for taste and mixability, but that is it. It comes down to labeling, sourcing, and third party verifications of sourcing and purity. My two cents!
I took a look at this collagen online and read the ingredients. I'm sorry, but it does not meet my criteria for clean ingredients, transparent sourcing, and I cannot be certain about efficacy because of the small amounts of peptides per serving. Big red flags for me are the acesulfame-K and Sucralose, maltitol, and undisclosed sources of emulsifiers and thickeners. I'm fine with fish peptides, but nobody needs all those scary additional ingredients.
Zicheng Qin What about Primal Kitchens Coconut 🥥 Collagen. It’s Paleo friendly and I believe they said their source is from South America on their website. You opinion?
I love that product! It's called MyKind Organic Plant Collagen Builder. As I say in this video, only animals contain collagen, but plants give us the nutrients to build it. This product is designed to support your cells in using amino acids from your dietary proteins, be they plant or animal sourced, to build healthy and strong collagen, keratin, and elastin. If you add magnesium to your protocol, this will also help with hyaluronic acid formation for moist plump skin and smoothly operating joints!
I started with Vital Proteins but my heart races and I get headachy with it. I switched to Garden of Life and didn't have the same issues. Vital Proteins mixes easier but the heart racing etc wasn't worth it. Garden of life has a slight difference in coffee flavor but barely noticeable. So far, happy with Garden of Life.
So interesting! The actual processing from animal to peptides is very proprietary for each supplier, so it's hard for me to say exactly why one brand of plain peptides might cause that and another won't. It surely has to do with chemicals used in processing and residues remaining in the final product, and your sensitivity of course. Thank you for the input!
Hi Kathy! In this video I compare to other collagens like Ancient Nutrition that call out multiple types and I think I make a clear case that it is just a marketing gimmick. They are predominantly 1 and 3, and all types are high in glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline. All HLPs "certifications" are actually only statements. No more transparent than Ancient Nutrition. Proof is needed. Look closely. I go deeper into what to look for in a product in this video if you are interested: ua-cam.com/video/hVkXnYXeV1U/v-deo.html
The only reason to take Type II is if it is undenatured collagen, not hydrolyzed, like in a UCII supplement, clinically shown to improve joint mobility and reduce pain. GOL Turmeric Collagen has this. 40mg is the clinically beneficial dose. You can also supplement UCII separately combined with your Type I & III Collagen Peptides. There are a few brands selling it separately.
I'm sorry but we've not yet attained that certification. I've noticed that Zint does have the Kosher certification and may be fine now that they've cleaned up after their recall.
LEAH Wong Hi Leah! Like other collagen peptides YouTheory will work. You take 6-12 tablets, or the liquid, or the packets. But as I say in the video, powder is the most cost effective way to get results. You theory becomes expensive per gram peptides. And like other brands I did not feature or discuss in the description, YouTheory has no Certifications to tell us about sourcing or quality. I’d want to know how the animals were raised and treated, and what agricultural practices fed them...for example, no gmo feed.
MsSagittarius61 Well, like many others it will work well. But I see a made up circle on the container that says “Paleo Friendly” which means it’s acceptable to a Paleo Type diet. But where is the third party certification from Paleo Foundation saying the cows this came from were actually 100% Grass Fed, Forage Fed, and pastured? Again, no seal no deal.
Amber Lynn Vitale Yes, I did notice that after watching....lol. When I finish the Orgain, I will be purchasing the Garden of Life. Isn’t Dr Perlmutter affiliated with Garden of Life products? Thanks for the education and for replying. 😋
Did you check out the video on certifications and collagen? Or the one on third party certifications? Those will give you the guidelines you need to make good choices with foods and supplements.
Hello Amani! I'm sure "it works" but they have no 3rd party certifications on cleanliness or sourcing. Also they add isolate vitamins and minerals and do not have transparency on flavorings. So it would be a no in my book, but you decide! Always do the math on price per gram of peptides, that tells you if it is worth it to go with a product that is poorly sourced and not verified. It's usually not. They just spend more on marketing and pass that cost on to you. Check out this video for a deeper dive on the category and research on collagen and what to look for in 3rd party certifications. ua-cam.com/video/hVkXnYXeV1U/v-deo.html
Thanks for watching! To understand the collagen category fully, please watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/hVkXnYXeV1U/v-deo.html Collage Protein as a label can be deceiving. Just know it’s not a complete protein. It’s collagen, which are types of proteins. But they do not contain all the amino acids you need in a day. Dr. Axe’s products are as effective as any. But again, no third party certifications to guarantee clean sustainable non-gmo sourcing.
Dr Brown ( bone dr, ) said on you tube that she takes BEAUTY AND BONE brand of collagen marine. It is made from wild caught fish. She said marine animals have less disease than land animals. Beauty and bone collagen powder is good for bone, skin...
Garden of life product is high in heavy metal arsenic! Actually one of the highest in the market. Just because the cows are from or fed in Europe it does not mean they r exempt from contaminated feeding/soil. Unless you want organ failure lol im staying away from heavy metal
I went online to look at their certifications. Below is what they say, but they themselves have none of the third party certifications I talk about in this video, other than Kosher. They are just asking you to believe them with no proof. Again, although grass feeding in South America is the most economic and abundant solution, no one wants to talk about how those steers go into the beef industry and stockyards buy the animals and put them on grains and soy for 3-6 months to fatten them before selling them for beef. Only then do the hides go into the collagen supply chain. No one wants to talk about the vast lands in Brazil converted to growing GMO soy and corn to feed this industry. I need a third party certification. From Custom Collagen FAQ: "Is your Hydrolyzed Gelatin | Beef Collagen Peptides dietary supplement made from grass-fed cattle? We are aware of some gelatin companies claiming that their gelatin comes from grass-fed cattle. However, they will never be able to certify that. The raw materials for this specific product are sourced from the same places; Brazil, Colombia and Argentina. We do sell hundreds of gelatin products that are sourced from other countries, but we are very selective in the material that is used for our dietary supplements. There is no governing body in South America that will certify beef as grass-fed because there may be occasional pieces of corn, grain, etc. that the cattle consume while grazing. We have visited and inspected the facilities from which our raw materials are sourced. We know that they are pasture raised, which is the standard for South America. Grass is the cheapest and more plentiful feed available. If you are currently purchasing beef gelatin or collagen from another company who is claiming that their product is made from 100% grass-fed cattle, we strongly recommend asking for something in writing that will certify the claim."
Here are three suppliers of collagen peptides, bovine source. Supplier means they produce a lot and sell it to supplement companies for their products. I could show more but I don't think it's necessary. In each case the flow chart is basically the same. All involve enzymes for hydrolysis. Physician's Choice includes a digestive protease enzyme blend to further help break down the peptides into shorter chains, a support if you really make no protease. I can only assume this is what they mean by "double". How much does it help? For some people with compromised pancreatic enzymes production and gut health it may help a lot. For most it may not make a huge difference. BUT, if you stir this into a hot beverage, the enzyme may be deactivated. Not sure. They tend to be denatured over 115 degrees farenheit. Body Temp is best. I'm sure this will work well, just no clarity on sourcing. If their source is so sustainable and certified, who is the certifier? It helps the consumer if we know that. Again, Paleo Foundation vets this kind of claim: Grass fed for life. IGEN or BioCheck help with non-GMO certification. Don't see any of these on their packaging, just statements. Website says the manufacturing facility is organic certified, but the products have no USDA organic seal. This is confusing to the consumer. I dnt which one to even get the beauty peptides or the regular peptides I want it firstly bc of skin and wrinkles and secondly for joints, muscles, veins etc body health so which do I get????
Not knowing your health or nutritional status, I can’t recommend a gram amount. But start with what’s easy. Try Beauty. If your needs are minor and diet is good you’ll see results in all your concerns. If you feel better in joints but don’t see skin results, or vice versa, add a half scoop of plain peptides another time of day to coffee or another drink. Enjoy! The beauty is such a tasty drink and will help where you need it most first...according to your body 😉
Anonymous65 I’ve not tried it but after visiting the site it looks as clean, absorbable, and effective as any other hydrolyzed collagen peptide product. It’s says their cows only graze on grass, but again there is no third party proof of that. While farmers may not afford organic certification on their smaller cattle ranches, supplement companies could afford to request a third party audit by Paleo Foundation. This would better ensure their claims. Also, the reason collagen peptides are not certified organic has to do with the process of hydrolyzing, not with small farms being unable to afford to certify their animals. Until collagen processing changes, even the most cleanly-raised leftovers cannot become certified organic collagen. Thanks for watching!
Big C The Legend Killer I cannot speak for other companies, but all Garden of Life products are compliant with California’s Proposition 65 standards for heavy metals in foods and supplements, strictest in the nation. www.gardenoflife.com/content/about/why-gol/testing/
I just purchased Vital Protein Marine Collagen and noticed that it makes me sleepy. I am not sure why the Marine Collagen has that affect on me. Has anyone experienced the same affect? I am not sure if it is normal to feel tired. I don't mind that it helps me sleep at night but I also don't like feeling sleepy during the day.
While Collagen peptides come from foods that kids and teens eat, it is concentrated in the supplement form. So dosing of any supplement can be different for children due to both their developmental physiology and weight/size. Best to check with your health care practitioner and make the best choice for your child together.
That's a choice, not a bad one, it will work. I've just been surprised that for such a big company they've not been able to secure a supply of peptides that is actually certified in any way to be from cows that are pastured, grass and forage fed, and not fed any GMOs.
I think it's a fair assessment and teaches you what to look for. I also say they all will work, but have different standards for sourcing. I'm a nutritionist first, and as soon as a see a truly cleaner or more guaranteed product I'll not only review it, I'll buy it.
Certainly! There's no efficacy reason not to mix brands. However, if you want to find out if one brand or product works best or feels best to you, you might try one product for a month, then switch to the other. Otherwise you cannot tell what works, or what feels bad if you don't react well.

@@islandbirdw I think the company changed hands that could be why
You can take it with a c supplement, I l use emergenC 1000 mg in with collagen 1 &3. Peptides
Vitamin C has been shown to facilitate collagen absorption through the gut. It makes it taste good. Elderberry sugar free if you can get it.
@@Jerry-me1fy thanks 🙂
This is a very informative video, and I appreciate the explanations you have behind your views. It’s so much better than most of the videos I’ve seen on here. Thank you.
This video is over two years old now. I heard Garde of Life was taken over and their products are not as good now. Is that true? Also, could have done with some info on Great Lakes and Sports Research CP. Thanks.
Yes , that has been my experience. Doesn’t dissolve quite as well and has a noticeable taste .
Can’t go wrong with Vital Proteins.

Thank you for the information. Does Garden of Life test for heavy metals? Aluminum, mercury, lead and cadmium etc?
Taking collagen, there is no risk of heavy metals right ? This is safe right ?
WOW! Excellent video! VERY informative! You just taught me a whole lot! Wish I’d ran across this before buying Vital Proteins two days ago. I’ll try Garden Of Life once I finish Vital Proteins
Just a note: Vital Proteins collagen is sourced from 5 different types of collagen.
Stated on the label.
duke6j some of theirs is.
@@duke6j Eeewwww, I hate that, it's gross! Most peptides have come a long way with better enzyme breakdown and no "whiff-back"
Amber, does Garden of Life dissolve completely?
I hated swallowing the small chunck of jello like substance in my collagen.
I just tried garden of life’s! I have been using Dr. Ax’s.. thanks so much!
And? Which one is more effective
Curious... I was reading the labels for this one and the hyaluronic acid or the peptides... we're the manufactured in the states or elsewhere?
I love native path brand.

@@AmberLynnVitale what type of collagen is good for teeth and gums?
Can you do some research on Globallee Collagen and post your option? Thanks
Garden of life is the best all their products ! Will def try the collagen from them. Thank you for this video ❤️🙏🏻
Have you ever tried the Ancient Nutrition Collagen and if so would you recommend it
Luis Rodriguez While the peptides will work, AN overstates the importance of multiple types of collagen. Also, they make up their “circles”...meaning they make it look like they have third party certs like Paleo and non-gmo but they’re actually just circled statements. No proof no audit. That makes me mad.
Amber Lynn Vitale Thanks for you’re help and I’m very excited to give Garden of Life a try
Ancient nutrition collagen peptides from dr josh axe has peptide 1 ,2,3, 5, 10. We need all numbers for different needs in the body.
What about LIVE WELL COLLAGEN PEPTIDES? I'm trying to switch from the Dr. Axe brand. Thank you for your information and time.

I have heard garden of life has heavy metals

I enjoyed listening, had bought Garden Of Life today and cannot wit to see if it'll improve my sore shoulder.
Hooray! Give it some time. Take some on empty stomach with water or in greens etc. for faster absorption as well. At least 10g of your daily total.
HI amber just wondering can we mix collagen, msm, and vitamin c together?
Absolutely! It's a great idea! There are some premixed products out there, but I like to adjust mine as needed by buying each separately. You can have a whole food C, a good B-complex, a good MSM, and a magnesium powder and put it all together in one drink quite successfully!
@@AmberLynnVitale OK thank u. 😊😊😊

I liked Garden of Life best. Vital Proteins brand makes my heart race for some reason.
I've been trying to understand why that might be. Some people make comments to that effect, and it must be in the processing somewhere.
What about Great Lakes Collagen?
GrassFed- Andy Well Andy, it will work as well as any other collagen hydrolysate, and they’ve gone to the effort to get certified as having Paleo and Keto friendly ingredients. But there is a difference between Paleo Friendly and Paleo Certified. Paleo friendly standards state herbivores must be “pastured”. That’s it. Full Paleo states “100% grass fed, forage fed, and pastured.” That’s what I’m looking for. You can find those links in the video notes.
I’ve read rumors of Great Lakes having a pretty high level of lead in their collagen. I’d research that and then decide
Thanks os much this is really helpful.
So glad! If you like check out this video so you know what to always look for in case your favorite brand is not available! ua-cam.com/video/hVkXnYXeV1U/v-deo.html
Can you explain collagen being labeled as hydrolyzed vs not seeing it on the labeling? Thank you!
Quick question do I have to drink of these collagens?
Yes, they are powders to be mixed in some kind of liquid. There are always flavored options out there, or plain mixes easily into a coffee or green drink. Capsules are the most expensive and least efficient way to take collagen peptides.
very informative, thanks. however, I'm from Belgium and when I look for the Gardens of Live in Holland or Germany, it says the product comes from the US. strange!
How are the animals slaughtered ? I‘m referring to the Garden of Life collagen ...It has no kosher certification so I really need to know more about that...

Hi
What about Neocell?
Great video!
@@AmberLynnVitale Thank you!

How come for The Garden of Life collagen they only fill it up halfway? If that was my company I would fill it up to the top.
What do you think about Great Lakes Collagen Hydroslate?
Hi Tira, it will work as well as any other collagen hydrolysate, and they’ve gone to the effort to get certified as having Paleo and Keto friendly ingredients. But there is a difference between Paleo Friendly and Paleo Certified. Paleo friendly standards state herbivores must be “pastured”. That’s it. Full Paleo states “100% grass fed, forage fed, and pastured.” That’s what I’m looking for. You can find those links in the video notes.
Amber Lynn Vitale ok thank you so much
Tira PatStew Is that the brand from Trader Joe's?
taste disgusting
Are these multi collagen powders?
CMV Robison Collagen in skin is mostly Type I and III collagen. From cartilage would be Type II. But remember, whether from skin/hides, fish scales or cartilage, chicken skin or bones and cartilage, or eggshell membranes, it all is high in proline, hydroxyproline, and glycine pre-linked in peptide chains. These are the main combos you need to rebuild your own collagen-any of the types you need to make all over your body. Collagen type matters more in fresh bone broth, where other ingredients like glycosaminoglycans make the difference for specific conditions. Thanks for watching!
@@AmberLynnVitale :
Hi, can i ask what anout earthtone Foods, grass fed collagen peptides?i saw it in iherb and it has fantastic review
Have you tried a Japanese brand called Meiji collagen powder? If so, would you recommend it?
~Julianne
Hello! How about the Garden of Life Vegan Supplement? Is it highly recommended? Thank you!
Amber Lynn Vitale thank you! You are so cool.
Do you know if native path collagen powder has theses certification?
Have made any comparison between Garden of Life and Healthy Living Proteins that has I, II, III, IV, and V in collagen peptides?
Hi, can you please recommend a collagen powder 1 2 3? My doctor only recommended that for me. I’d appreciate. Thanks
Ancient nutrition collagen from dr josh axe has type 1,2,3,5, 10 peptides in one tub. He said we need all types for different needs in body.
Is the garden of life collagen halal or kosher ?
I'm sorry but we've not yet attained that certification. I've noticed that Zint does have the Kosher certification and may be fine now that they've cleaned up after their recall.
Live Conscious Collagen Peptides Hydrolyzed powder. Is a great one.
What about youtheory collagen?
LEAH Wong Hi Leah! Like other collagen peptides YouTheory will work. You take 6-12 tablets, or the liquid, or the packets. But as I say in the video, powder is the most cost effective way to get results. You theory becomes expensive per gram peptides. And like other brands I did not feature or discuss in the description, YouTheory has no Certifications to tell us about sourcing or quality. I’d want to know how the animals were raised and treated, and what agricultural practices fed them...for example, no gmo feed.
What do think of Orgain Collagen Peptides Grass Fed Pasture Raised?
Dr. David Perlmutter co-formulates many of the Garden of Life Products, those designated as “Dr. Formulated”. Thanks for watching!!
Did you check out the video on certifications and collagen? Or the one on third party certifications? Those will give you the guidelines you need to make good choices with foods and supplements.
Amber Lynn Vitale Where can I find these two videos?
what about It Works Collegen?
Hi I just found your video what you do think of Dr Axe Collagen protein? For skin and joints and should I also drink grass fed bone broth?
Thanks for watching! To understand the collagen category fully, please watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/hVkXnYXeV1U/v-deo.html
Collage Protein as a label can be deceiving. Just know it’s not a complete protein. It’s collagen, which are types of proteins. But they do not contain all the amino acids you need in a day. Dr. Axe’s products are as effective as any. But again, no third party certifications to guarantee clean sustainable non-gmo sourcing.
What about marine collagen
Marine Collagen is sourced from fish. It can be clean and effective. Need to look at sustainability of the farming (typically farmed fish)
Do you have any information/documentation/website to support this assertion? Thanks
Hi! What do you think about Custom Collegen Beef formula? Says it’s pasture raised. Thank you for any info anyone may have.🌹
I went online to look at their certifications.
Thanks, very informative!!
What do you think of the Physician's Choice collagen peptides, Double Hydrolyzed for better absorption?? Thanks !!
Also, as far as I know, there is not yet a way to make Certified Organic Collagen Peptides.

@@AmberLynnVitale, thank you for the detailed explanation!!
Garden Of Life is probably not Kosher ?
365 Whole Foods brand. So far good results but will try others.
Have you tried Perfect Supplements Collagen?

I love the Garden Of Life collagen with probiotics only thing i been searching for and couldnt find was results in heavy metal testing
Big C The Legend Killer I cannot speak for other companies, but all Garden of Life products are compliant with California’s Proposition 65 standards for heavy metals in foods and supplements, strictest in the nation. www.gardenoflife.com/content/about/why-gol/testing/
Garden of Life is only 2 types of Collagen, I like 5 or more types of Collagen in the product.
Ancient nutrition from dr josh axe has 1,2,3. 5,10 peptides.
I just purchased Vital Protein Marine Collagen and noticed that it makes me sleepy. I am not sure why the Marine Collagen has that affect on me. Has anyone experienced the same affect? I am not sure if it is normal to feel tired. I don't mind that it helps me sleep at night but I also don't like feeling sleepy during the day.
can kids and teenagers take collagen peptides
While Collagen peptides come from foods that kids and teens eat, it is concentrated in the supplement form. So dosing of any supplement can be different for children due to both their developmental physiology and weight/size. Best to check with your health care practitioner and make the best choice for your child together.
What is the best time to take collagen?
And what is the best collagen for hair and skin? Is it mix collagen or marine collagen?
Anas Malik I’m pretty sure I cover all that in the video. For more info, see the one called What Are Collagen Peptides?
Vital Protein is first and best option. DR. Eric Berg's Guarantee
That's a choice, not a bad one, it will work. I've just been surprised that for such a big company they've not been able to secure a supply of peptides that is actually certified in any way to be from cows that are pastured, grass and forage fed, and not fed any GMOs.
You had me until you disclosed you work for Garden of Life.
I think it's a fair assessment and teaches you what to look for. I also say they all will work, but have different standards for sourcing. I'm a nutritionist first, and as soon as a see a truly cleaner or more guaranteed product I'll not only review it, I'll buy it.
Is this halal certified
No I am sorry
Wish it were
Zint is kosher though
Hi can I drink my vital protein in the morning and have my garden of life in the evening?thank you
Certainly! There's no efficacy reason not to mix brands. However, if you want to find out if one brand or product works best or feels best to you, you might try one product for a month, then switch to the other. Otherwise you cannot tell what works, or what feels bad if you don't react well.
Amber Lynn Vitale oh yeah.,that’s totally make sense...I’ll do that.thaks a lot.
