One of my earlier memories as a kid in the 60s living in the Shores was being awakened in the middle of the night one time and being told a tidal wave was coming and we needed to evacuate immediately. We piled in the station wagon and drove up the hill to where more of the UCSD campus would eventually be built. Used to love heading to Kellogg Park every day after school too. La Jolla will always be a special place.
Both sets of great grandparents on my mom's side vacationed there in the early 19 teens. My grandparents met there and vacationed with their children every summer. Parents honeymooned there and brought my sister and me every summer from Colorado. Now I'm in my 60s and still go every year for a family reunion dinner on the beach of the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club.
Looking from technical point of view, its a great video. Short, informative video/pics, sharp & quality, I love it. Will recommend to watch by all my friends. Thanks again.
LaJolla is where I took scuba lessons both times , once when I was 21 back in 1978 (NAUI) and again in 2002 with my kids (PADI) . There is a place that even a lot of locals don't know about for tidepools and that's in Point Loma below the cliffs (there is a trail) at Cabrillo National Monument , the trail down is on the right as you approach the memorial . From the top of the hill you can watch the submarines come into the submarine base below you on the left which is always an event with people lined up along the fence to watch .
My favorite place in San Diego. Used too live right across from cove in one of the old houses. One is covered with a stripe cover and one caught fire. This was in 50s. Love it
Good video. I live in Baja La Jolla and there are many hikes we do every year, Mt. Soledad from the village, Scripps Meander, several in Torrey Pines. Another day in Paradise.
You’re in my city! If you had just walked down those stairs from where you had coffee-you could’ve walked into another cove. Idk how to explain it direction-wise but it’s a free cove that everyone walks into and usually their shoes get a little wet. Also in La Jolla-you could’ve driven to the top of Mt. Soledad for a nice view of the ocean/La Jolla also. There’s another good gelato shop above the cove called Gelateria Frizzante. You could’ve gone to the UCSD campus and checked out the interesting-shaped library building called Geisel Library. You could’ve seen another interesting architectural building called the Salk Institute-reminds me of Inception. You could’ve gone to Birch Aquarium. Anyway, you went to some good places-eggs Benedict is definitely the thing to order at The Cottage. Better Buzz is actually a chain coffee restaurant and their acai bowls are excellent.
Almost every time I watch one of your videos, I am sitting in my hometown's In n Out Burger parking lot. The sun is out as always, and it's nice and warm. Living in Southern California rules! You guys rule! Have a great day everyone!
We live in Phoenix and drive to SD and La Jolla whenever possible. So close to Coronado, Mission Bay, and yes...the Taco Stand! Our absolute favorite! Great video!👍
This video brought back some great memories of my Navy days at NAS Miramar. Yup it was NAS Miramar prior to 1997 before the BRAC changed all that. La Jolla Cove is close by the base and a great place to take your date for some fine dining and walks on the beach.
It is a common misconception that La Jolla is "north of San Diego." It is surely north of downtown San Diego, and north of Loma Portal, and Ocean Beach, and Mission Beach, and Pacific Beach. La Jolla IS San Diego. It was annexed in something like 1905, 1910, or something like that (quick Wiki lookup would have details, but that's not the point). A rather amusing point is the attitude of some folks with regard to the "prestige" of being in La Jolla or University City (also San Diego). If you travel down La Jolla Village Drive between I-5 and I-805, which hotels get to use a La Jolla address versus a San Diego (University City) address? It's just by zip code. The prestige is the same on one side of the street or the other.
When I lived in La Jolla, in the '70s, the Cove was a sheltered place where young families could spend the day with little kids, in the gentle surf. It was delightful, almost like the shallow end of the baby pool only salt water. Now it is overtaken by noisey, ugly, smelly, fat, pooping...did I say ugly....shark bate. Yuk.
Im from SD and I grew up in La Jolla. I called every spot you went to before you said it haha. That brunch spot has been popular for so long! Love your videos!
Amy that Mahi Eggs Benedict looked amazing. If you ever come down to The Florida Keys check out Lazy Days in Islamoradama and don't forget to stop at Robbies to feed the Tarpon.
I like how you focus on the positives of this state. People who don’t live here only hear the negatives and so they have a negative view of this state. I live by the Monterey bay, and there is no state with more variety then California. Btw, I also love your tips and things to do.
Well Josh and Amy that was another great video I’m going to have to give you guys a shout out towards the summer and ask you where are some good places to go down in San Diego
Despite of HavingTHE MOST CORRUPT OF THE POLITICIANS HERE IN CA- WE BEAT THEM ALL BY HAVING THE MOST BEAUTIFUL- FUN - wholesome- endless possibilities STATE!!!! When I go to the East Coast, I always realize how blessed we are here!!!!!!!😇💓💓💞🍥
I love La Jolla I was born there, and it’s just beautiful, but if you want a good breakfast bagel go to bruger’s or busy bee. Busy bee is near bird rock and I’m pretty sure brugers is in PB (edit: pro tip, the seals smell *HORRIBLE*
When I was last in La Jolla 20+ years ago there were no Sea Lions on the rocks in Children's Pool area or anywhere obvious. They came during one of our many El Ninos and stayed to frustrate the morning swimming club. ( the swimming club found a workaround)
The sea lions were actually there at least 25 years ago. There used to be a 50' cliff called the "Clam" that people would jump off of and surface to the sea lions swimming around them. I used to jump the cliff regularly while growing up there, while in high school.( back in the early to mid 90s) The cliff however has eroded in the ocean since then
Thanks for the memories! One of the great good fortunes of my life was to live in La Jolla in 1958-60 when a middle class kid could afford it. Seals were relatively rare back then but great fun to snorkel with.
I love your guys channel! You guys showcase the truly best, and hidden aspects of California. I'll be planning a trip to La Jolla sometime next year* This also has me feeling a tad homesick...
I like your video! I pass La Joya but I never stop 🛑 there. I was thinking everything there was r/t Chopra Center. ( Spanish is my mother language, sorry for my writing) Thxs for open my mind and my eyes.
Great tour! We fell in LOVE with la jolla in September! I learned about it by reading about Betty Broderick who shot her husband and his new wife in la Jolla after a very bitter divorce. Thinking about writing to Betty in prison to thank her for leading us to la Jolla!
As a La Jolla native, I really appreciate you visiting and sharing my home! I would like to say, however, that The Cottage is not at all the best brunch and it very touristy. If your good with that, cool, but you can also check out La Valencia, Sugar, and Scribe, and Parakeet Cafe (not rlly brunch but it slides). These options may be a little more expensive but you're in La Jolla so expect that!
I can tell by the blissful look on your face that you californian guys smoke weed already in the morning😂 Cool video , keep up the good work, cheers mate!
Most awesome beaches in California.
Best videos ever.
Thank you .

Went here yesterday after hiking at Torrey pines. Didn’t have time for kayaking but it was such a nice place to visit
If you are tired of hectic city life, LJ is good for you. It makes me feel relaxed.
Was there in June. What a beautiful place. If you live there you are very lucky. It was just beautiful.
The most expensive place in Southern California, thanks to the colleges and hospitals
This is paradise , it has to be. Thank you ! 😍❤️

I love swimming with the seals in La Jolla. I’ve snorkeled at the entrances of the cave with some seals this past July and it was awesome!
My favorite place in San Diego. Used too live right across from cove in one of the old houses. One is covered with a stripe cover and one caught fire. This was in 50s. Love it

As a California fanatic living in Texas, I enjoy your videos very much.👍
Hey, Amy and Josh, haven't seen you guys in a while. Good to see you again!
Shhhh! Don't tell them about The Taco Stand. :) Another great taco place is Las Olas, just up the road in Cardiff-by-the-Sea. Stellar blog. Kudos.
I've been to San Diego and La Jolla beach in October 2020. It was amazing. Wonderful city!! Best wishes from Recife - Brazil

Thanks for watching them, appreciate it!
I went jetskiing in San Diego this June and afterwards we went to La Jolla and it was really amazing seeing the seals

Can you do a video in Idyllwild CA? I love your videos.

As a Canadian, the only state I would ever move to is California. Love the sunny state!
Yor area is GREAT Monterey/Carmel/Point Lobos FANTASTIC!!!
Awesome video! Just in time as I plan to visit in April. Want to go see the Marine Room.
I love La Jolla ;) it's one of the best beach view places that I've been to :)
Mmm let’s talk about those hand made tortilla tacos by the beach!! Yum! Only in beautiful California!!!
Torrey Pines and the golf course, Glider Point...
Your video looks cool. Thank you for sharing.
La Jolla is a beautiful, affluent coastal city, BUT it’s to crowded/congested (especially on weekends) for my taste.
Love this video - this is a place I've always wanted to visit. Thanks guys! :)
I love California
Well Josh and Amy that was another great video I’m going to have to give you guys a shout out towards the summer and ask you where are some good places to go down in San Diego

Josh, did Amy tell you about the dripping eggs on the burger, you biting into the paper on your taco or was she having a good laugh? 😂
La Jolla is a mini paradise.....10,000 seals can't be wrong

How was traffic near the beach area?
Awesome video 👍🏼👏🏼
I have a total random question... is there a good, and not too expensive, camera that you recommend?
Thanks for the comment. What is the price range and what are you looking to do with it (photography, video, etc)?
California Through My Lens I say, no more than $1500. I think mostly photography. I’ll be a Christmas present.
I miss the Ocean 🌊
Bellicimo
Love the videos, but you know we know you eat paper on that last bite of the taco, lol
