Hi Faye and Simon just wondered about your thoughts on the General Product Safety Regulation coming into force in December looks to be abit of a nightmare when you have 100s of mixed types of items for sale on Ebay , always enjoy your videos kind regards.
Hi, thoughts are that yes there seems to be more questions than answers at the moment, and being with eBay last week I’d say they’ve not really decided what’s going on either, they’re just passing on the message.
Hi Simon, speak to Nic Hills, he is a ebay seller who is a blogger. He has had major issues also with different issues. He does however, have contact details for those further up the pecking order. He might be able to help. Keep up the good work.
I wonder if this has become a problem since the post office started combining everything on one receipt, instead of one fir each parcel? Try going back to one fir each parcel and see if it improves
Interesting… It feels like the receipts have been consolidated for a little longer than that… but I’m going to check my receipts and see if it ties in. Good idea thanks!
Hi Simon, interesting video but I need to correct your workaround method advice. I am a small private seller and I have also received one of these late delivery defects at the end of August for an item that was dropped off at my local post office in plenty of time and was a Second Class small parcel. Unfortunately the Royal Mail are now only interested in raising prices and dropping Saturday deliveries.... Of course, eBay simply want to pass the blame and not bother dealing with anything as usual.
It wasn’t really meant to be workaround advice. My point was that if you can’t be bothered to ship on a particular day, as long as you purchase the label through eBay by the correct day and if you have a long delivery estimate you can use 1st/2nd and as long as it’s not delivered late, you won’t get a ding, which you won’t.
I stopped using 2nd class and now use tracked 48 as I had 2 negative feedback because ebay could not see a dispatch scan so they would remove it the biggest change is that the royal mail and the post office are independent to each other now, Royal mail and ebay need to up date their systems to reflect the changes and protect top sellers or they will go else where
How long did it take for your first vinterior sales? We have been on there over a month now and not had any sales, saying that its still better than etsy. 😂 We send everything RM 48 now and have been for the last few months. For the extra. 10p on a small parcel its a no brainer.
I wonder if their lack of interest is due to their new simplified aka Vinted copy postage system is going live shortly and Royal Mail I expected will not be part of it… so they are not focused on them anymore, they want us all to take up the new system. But yes - after 24 years with zero late parcels… I now have late deliveries on account too. I am migrating over to RM 48.
This happened to carbbot Chris he mentioned it the other week he dropped the the parcels off on time but that scan does not count and the next scan was late so he got late deliveries and eBay for business would not remove it
eBay for business is pretty much, computer says no these days. And its been like this for well over 18 months. I had this same issue and they would not accept the receipt as proof because they think its been edited. Spent most of the morning today going back and forward with Jessica, asking why I can't list a Stanley multi tool and they came back saying because it is a knife/blade, yet I'm allowed to list power saws and other branded multi tools. I couldn't be bothered to argue with them anymore. Platform has gone to the dogs.
Certain aspects of it are certainly to becoming more challenging, with less and less people up at eBay seemingly knowing what’s going on from one day to the next.
Exactly same here Simon. I’ve gone from less than 0.5% to 2.87% so who knows if I will be less by September 20th! I do everything via EBay postage Tracked 24 or Tracked 48 Royal Mail. The reality is you are better not using the Royal Mail integrated with eBay postage, that way the only mark on your account for this is if the customer specifically says it on their feedback . As I’m on the edge I’ve just changed my despatch to 2 days but sending it same day , it’s a complete joke though tbh
That’s sh*t. I’ve been selling in various platforms for over 15 years and it’s only up until a couple of years ago that I started adding tracking to orders. Before that they’d just get ‘shipped’ and I’d only refer to tracking I kept if I needed it. Back then, you were mainly measured by feedback, and crap sellers were rightly booted off platforms. Now, the platforms have made that much less of a desirable option and instead want to micromanage you in a way that means when they don’t keep up to date with 3rd party changes (or their own changes), you get this sort of BS.
This did happen to me. I stopped using second class and everything goes tracked. Sadly, it is typically of ebay, that you have to find out these changes the hard way. Their communication is terrible. Just an email to notify you of these changes would be great.
This has been going on for longer. I was told by an ebay rep not to use second class always use tracked 48. I was told by a postmaster that royal mail do not always scan second class when they should. It is defo a royal mail thing and ebay use their data I am afraid
This exact same thing happened to us! eBay escalated our situation to 30 day payout holds, causing cashflow issues, which caused delays, which eventually led to eBay placing a full restriction on our account; even if we provide a shipment confirmation and the buyer leaves positive feedback, eBay will still hold the funds. We're currently in the process of refunding dozens of eBay orders.
@@Married2Reselling we had a spike in late deliveries in a similar way, but we also sell pre-orders (40 day shipping time) which made things worse. What happens after the late deliveries increase is eBay imposes a 30 day payout hold, and when they escalate it again, its a full payout restriction (we are here), even orders with proof of delivery provided remains on hold until the account is 'unrestricted' - we've decided to stop selling on eBay all together hence the mass refunds
Since RM delayed about 20 items nearly 2 years ago and nearly killed my store i have not used them except the one off parcel and that is always sent tracked 48. I know as you sell breakables you cannot use Yodel or Evri so maybe tracked 48 is the way to go. Also not using uploading tracking either from Ebay or the 3rd party site might kill your store. As Ebay like to see your items getting delivered and not just shipped. Much so much easier years ago to not upload tracking and only do so when there was an issue.
Yes, we do also use RM24/48, but for lower value or slower delivery etc we also use 2nd. It’s only up until a few years ago that I started adding tracking to orders. Before that they’d just get ‘shipped’ and I’d only refer to tracking I kept if I needed it. Back then, you were mainly measured by feedback, and crap sellers were rightly booted off platforms. Hi guys, I have been getting late payments from Ebay, so I phoned them regarding this and was told that the Royal Mail system is NOT reporting that the parcel has arrived to eBay even though the tracking says it has been delivered. I reported this over 2 months ago and the person I spoke too raised the issue. I ship from Jersey and the parcels do not get scanned by Royal Mail till the next day. I can only use Jersey Post who are agents for Royal Mail. Keep up the good work. Cheers, Alfie
It seems to be getting harder to use ebay every month. This issue you mention, and there hasn't been any bonus to being a Business Seller with an Ebay shop in ages (since the number of auctions and BIN's increased about 2 years ago) and come December, its going to be well nigh impossible to sell to Europe with the new EU directive that you have to provide a named person in each country for the manufacturer of the item who will be responsible for the safety of said item. I believe the latter issue is to be raised at the Ebay Open event this week but the chances of someone there having the knowledge or awareness of it is slim (they usually send fairly inexperienced employees to these events, from what I hear). Someone further up the chain needs to look at all these issues, which as well as hitting us sellers are also going to hurt the profits of ebay, Maybe thats the point when ebay will show some interest ?
Yeah… the clips of eBay open and accounts I’ve seen from people that attend seem to give the impression that they are presenters more than anything else.
I got 8 defects for 8 tracked 48 parcels that sold over the recent Bank Holiday weekend. They were all collected by Royal Mail on the Tuesday after the Bank Holiday Monday. The tracking clearly shows collection too. The problem appears to be with eBay's interface with Royal Mail's data. It's obviously not reading it correctly, if at all. The info on the defects page is contradictory and refers to the defects both as "Transactions that weren't dispatched on time" AND "Tracking indicates late delivery". It's a mess. If they know there's a problem, they should put the defect system on hold.
Did you manage to resolve this issue? I am on the edge of getting to 3% threshold and I am thinking to put my whole shop holiday mode as sending tracked isn't viable for my mostly low value items.
@@Avdarmaly I've not done anything about it since my late delivery rate is currently 0.81% for the last 3 months. It's probably best to sell more stuff to get the rate lower. I send virtually everything tracked, even small things. I'd rather take a small price hit rather than get bad feedback and a lower seller level.
@@Married2Reselling I sent them a message each time to say how disappointed i am in their system. and that it was very nice them thanking me for selling on ebay for 22 years but it would be better if they listened to us occasionally and sorted this out as time is money. We will see.

Royal Mail are getting worse. They don't always scan items and today they lost £300 worth of items I sold on Ebay. They delivered an empty parcel to the buyer in a plastic bag with 'our sincere apologies' printed on it. Looks like I'm going to have to refund the seller whilst losing £300 worth of stock to boot. I've only just started reselling so any advice regarding this matter would be appreciated.
