I usually bring my kids with me when I go fishing. They are pretty young so pretty much pick a spot and don't move. Some times it works out and I'll catch 5-10 cats other times I get skunked.

@@ayandantungwa3943 you can but you need to be on top of the fish and slow down your presentation. They fish will eat but they are in conserve mode; they’ll expend the least amount of calories to get a meal.

Fishing can be stressful if ur doing it for food. If u snag up a bunch or lose fish or get nothing all day it can be pretty frustrating. I enjoy fishing but if I go to fish I'm tryna catch fish not just sit there & look at the greenery. Id just go hiking in that case
The "move to get bites" idea is great, except when you are like me trying to fish the Brazos in Houston. There are only a few places to get down to the river, and you are lucky to get a mile of sandbar to walk along. Oh what I would give for a bank that looked like this one. Most of the bank round here is nothing but 20-30 foot clay bluffs.

San jacinto river under the 59 overpass, you you walk down about a half mile, that has never let me down at all. I’ll just walk that bank.

I fish the Brazos north of you between college Station and navasota. Big, wide bends, very little sandbars, and it’s all farmland so vegetation is pretty clear- you can normally drop right off the bank. I pull out 20-30lb flatheads often out there
I've got a nighttime bank catfishing memory for you. Had two rods in the water on a hot spot on my favorite bass, cat, crappie and striper lake in North Carolina. I hooked an 8 pound blue cat, was busy bringing it in, then the other pole literally ripped over the log it was resting on and went into the water. I dove into the water and swam out 30 feet to grab the escaping pole while holding the other pole straight up in the air.
I swam backwards, treading water, until my feet touched... Then I literally walked backward out of the water, and walked all the way to the parking lot until the catfish was flopping in the bank, then brought in the 7 pound bass that had ripped my pole out into the water.
I landed both fish. It was wonderful, I ate well the next day.
I never locked my bail again.

when the drum are spawning and near the surface, they will drum like that next to the boat. you can actually feel it in the aluminum boats.

When you call bullheads, channel cat, I cringe. Big difference. It is amazing a river fishing channel cannot tell the difference. Also if you dig up some hay from a farm you can find large white grubs that like to bite and have large mandables. Not sure what species they are. Maybe June bugs or bettles. Either way. You get a bunch of those as bait and your fishing line will sing the catfish song. You just hold your hook close to the grub mouth and it will usually bite it and not let go. You simply pull the hook away and the stubborn grub will decapitate itself rather than let go of your hook. You then hook it up however you like through the body after decapitation and fish on. I have done doughs, shad, minnows and even the ole can of corn and of course the chicken livers. You name it. I've likely tried it and nothing beats those nasty mean white grubs as bait. Live caught large Grasshoppers are decent as well but those white grubs are the crack cocaine of the catfish world. They are almost exclusively found in old hay spots though. Just dig down till it gets moist and you will likely find them. This is the first and last time I will ever share this secret bait.

The best thing to do is if there's no bite in 10 minutes, move spots. You go to the new spot if there's no bites move again. On the 3rd spot change rigs. In the fall or on really hot or cold days in my opinion a great rig to use a dropshot. Even in the fall the dropshot is an amazing rig to use. A 3 inch realistic fluke about 3 inches with trophy bass by procure is winner winner 🏆 chicken 🐔 dinner. 😁 in really hot, cold or even earlly fall dropshot is great to use. Just my opinion. 😊❤

what's a good bait for channels?, im using a 4/0 circle hooks as my go to hooks but I tried chicken livers and I had no luck as some dipshit turtle took mybait, nightcrawlers?, shrimp? koolaid hotdogs? chicken breast? dead minnow/shiners?, or cut up bluegill? (i go to canals or sometimes bank fishing from dead palm trees that provide shade over the water or sank in it and provide structure
