I was born in '76. Alex came in '86 and I was ten. For the next 26 years of my life, me and Man U were consistently linked in my memories. I remember so much because Man U were good then. The years highlighted in this brilliant video I remember as me growing up from a boy, to teenager, to an adult. Maybe that is why it is so vivid. I remember all the big games, where I was, what I was doing and at what point in my life I was at. I don't care that Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool are now the dominant forces (although Man U have just beaten leaders Arsenal 3 - 1, 4th September 2022) so hopefully Eric "Gimme" Ten Hag can bring back some stability and hope. Things change, as they always do in life. I was just glad I lived through this era, as all fans would. My Dad, who left us in Feb 2020 (thankfully, pre-covid nonsense) was always the 1st one to back Fergie during any so called "crisis". How Fergie, even at the start, was considered in "crisis" is beyond me. Any real fan could see what he was doing and the improvement. The man was a genius and these people come around, but, once in a generation. I remember watching on the Saturday 1995 when Alan Hansen said his quote, "You win nothing with kids!". Apparently, Fergie posted that on the home changing room and anywhere the players would see it. They said it was one of the biggest motivating factors in the 1st Double. I always meant to send Alan a bottle of whiskey that year :)
Well, I have followed Man Utd since 2007 and I can say that Ten Hag is the best thing that has happened to United, since Sir Alex left. I hope that we will enjoy the years to come.

That 98/99 season will stay with me for a long long time. I was only 11 and remember crying as i watched that final thinking it was all over as the board went up for stoppage time. Always remember that commentary "SHERINGHAM, AND SOLSKJAER HAS WON IT" And to think some fans were desperate to get rid of Fergie just 9-10 years before it. Horrible to say this but we will never see another United manager quite like the boss again. The man is a legend and no words can do him justice. ❤️

This shows how tough a job Alex Ferguson had to deal with and what a miracle he did. How fans quickly asked for him to be dismissed twice during his tenure. As a Man.utd fan, am so happy we don't get to choose. Shows how some patience does pay off.
I don't think you gave enough emphasis on how huge the semi final vs Dortmund was in 1997, United would play Juventus a team that they felt they could match, both physically and tactically... It was basically the biggest chance for United and Cantona to win a European Cup. Cantona's retirement was coz he knew that a complete rebuild without him would result in them doing well in Europe again, as great as 99 was, Man Utd were underdogs in their group, underdogs vs Juventus and a miracle gave them the win in the final, 97 was different, they were actually good enough to win it, but the united team itself didn't have enough of a supporting cast to help Cantona. That's why he announced retirement IMMEDIATELY after that semi final defeat. Also the amount of choking Juventus were doing in the mid to late 90s is insane, they should've won the European Cup from 1996-1999 (They were THAT good)... Choked 2 finals and choked a home semi
You could say that about various different events throughout the episode, the problem is in writing it could be tricky to give more emphasis on that within the context of the whole video. If I wanted to give emphasis to everything then the episode would be 2 hours long 😅. But I absolutely get your point 👍🏼 I have an episode about Juve covering the period you talked about 👍🏼
Man United were totally dominant in the 90s They were still the best in 2000s with fewer challenges, now at present to secure the top 5 position in their league for them is challenging!!!! Hope the ETH era brings some progress.

Let's be honest though, we were missing our two most influential players in Keane and Scholes. There's no way Bayern would have dominated as much if they'd been playing, or had they been missing Basler, Matthaus or Scholl. Not that it mattered anyway! GGMU!
@@Nightopian1982WHAT? why are United fans so myopia and only think about their faults 😂😂 Didn't you watch the video when he said Bayern were missing 2 of their key players too??? 😂😂
@@Dante--X yeah... always so myopic. It's always 'United fans' isn't it? Sorry but I'm equating it to the two drawn group matches (during the away match to Bayern, Elber's first goal was bewilderingly allowed despite his clear offside), where both teams were very evenly matched, unlike the final. Sorry, but most people aware of football know that leaving Bayern aside for an moment, much of United's struggle in that game was down to them missing Keane and Scholes, two huge players for them in Europe that season! It's not 'blind' to suggest that.
When I was 9 my dad's English best friend from Manchester told me about the 1999 Champions League final, he was in the stadium and said he was crying when Bayern were 1-0 up in the 85th minute. It was the first time I heard of this match and at the time it was just a crazy football story to me. He was also the reason my dad became a United fan alongside our local club which made me also want to be a United fan. He passed away in 2020 due to cancer, I wish I could have a conversation about the game with him or United in general now I have more knowledge and now my English is better. Rest in peace Johny
Who would have imagined that Mark Robins and Lee Martin would have been the players to both save the job of and provide the catalyst for the greatest manager in history to achieve everything he did over two and a half decades. It's quite incredible how football goes sometimes. The fickle nature of fate.
Now i understand when Ferguson told that Man Utd dont have to history as a club as Ajax, I as a Ajax fan always thought Man Utd was an established name in UK football but it was not the case. More respect for Ferguson!
Great video, one criticism is that the press do not regularly refer to Man Utd as "United" in headlines, since we have lots of United clubs in England.
I actually have plenty of examples that prove the contrary. I usually don't change the headlines, I only make them animated. Sometimes I rephrase a headline without changing the meaning just for design issues. But the point still stands 👍🏼
@@balon-english national newspapers or local? Cause local newspapers do refer to their respective teams as united eg Sheffield papers would call Sheffield United "United", same with Newcastle newspapers. The national newspapers do not, especially not in the 90s when Newcastle United were competing for the title with them on two occasions.
I'm aware of that, but what i'm using are national newspapers from the British Newspaper Archives' website. I think you'll be surprised by how frequent the term "United" is used from all types of newspapers to identify Manchester United. Even before their first Premier League title in 93' they were still referred to as "United" despite as you mentioned Newcastle's relevancy at that time.
Very good documentary would like to have seen more of the Docs time at the club which many thought was the turn around after the early 70's left us a tormented side.

That 99 final.. Bayern dominated but couldn't score, United had 2 corners and 2 goals.. This is football
Let's be honest though, we were missing our two most influential players in Keane and Scholes. There's no way Bayern would have dominated as much if they'd been playing, or had they been missing Basler, Matthaus or Scholl. Not that it mattered anyway! GGMU!
@@Nightopian1982WHAT? why are United fans so myopia and only think about their faults 😂😂
Didn't you watch the video when he said Bayern were missing 2 of their key players too???
You sir have an absolute way of narrating in a manner that’s thoroughly arresting. I’m captivated by every word from start to finish.
Absolutely phenomenal video. Amazing work!
Rants x Cams sent me I'm disgusted by how far the club has fallen
Love this video. Very detailed and full of passion
BEST SPORTS CHANNEL EVER
There's nothing quite like your videos that I have come across. I've been binging them all. Thanks so much for the time and effort you put into these
That's how you celebrate history. What a masterpiece
There’s only one United!!!
Very good documentary would like to have seen more of the Docs time at the club which many thought was the turn around after the early 70's left us a tormented side.
Sir Alex Ferguson will remain the best coach of Manchester united
Of all time
i love your videos...
Appreciate it !
