Memory as an idea is one of my favorite existential considerations. So much amazing media has been made on the fallibility of memory, the ways it can be manipulated or used by others, and the ways in which it can expand. It's also an extremely relevant topic in computer science and neuroscience right now, as we continually build more artificial minds in the pursuit of godlike intelligence.
Small correction: there are in fact some people whose game master is their therapist. Tabletop roleplaying games are rapidly being adopted by mental health professionals, especially in situations that involve psychoactive substances during treatment. Roleplaying has proven to be a more effective form of trauma resolution than talk therapy or medical treatment. Combine that with a little focus on the spirit and we're actually fixing the depression and loneliness epidemic, just a little bit at a time. Now. Obviously that's professional treatment in an appropriate setting, not chillin with your chooms at the table.
