- Dainese Fighter Jacket Review
www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/da...
The Dainese Fighter Jacket is as streamlined as a mission-driven warbird cutting through the atmosphere a super-sonic speeds. Built to offer an extremely aggressive race fit without the race-day aesthetic, the Fighter Jacket is a form fitting Dainese classic that combines protection, premium materials, and unbridled Italian swagger. Features of the Dainese Fighter Jacket include D-Skin 2.0 leather, S1 bielastic fabric panels, and a NanoFeel liner for increased comfort. Additionally, the Fighter jacket boasts a removable thermal liner for colder days, venting for hot days, and the ability to upgrade both the chest and back protection with Dainese’s G1 / G2 back inserts, and/or Dainese’s Double Chest Protectors. - Авто та транспорт
Got one of these on order from my local UK dealer, can't wait to get it - looks so classy. Subtle and technical all in one.
Since I have a matte grey carbon ZX14r.....it's only right that I buy this sweet jacket to complete the stealthy look. Thanks Revzilla!
I own the Perf version and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. BMW f750GS, lots of highway and local riding near Daytona Beach Florida
Great jacket, so far, one of my favourite. Just one thought: this is not a specific track jacket, that means bikers are going to wear it on street, on everyday riding. On everyday riding, they might need to store documents, wallet, keys etc somewhere so, when talking about jackets on the web, please give us more information about inside pockets ( number, dimensions ).
Just bought the fighter jacket and I also purchased the pro armour chest and back protector fits very neatly into the jacket. The fit and all over quality of this jacket is fantastic and I'm extremely happy with it anyone buying this jacket won't be disappointed with it
Just bought it, you damn right!
This one is totally badass!! Been looking for quite some time for a new dainese jacket and this hits it spot on!! Not a huge fan of fancy jackets, colors, sport hump etc. plain black murdered out is perfect for me. Think this will also fit the dainese pony c2 pants quite nicely.. on my wishlist for sure!
I just purchased this jacket in a size 50. I'm 6', 190lbs - I tried the jacket on with just a t-shirt - the size 50 was like wearing a wet suit. So I returned it to RevZilla with no questions asked and they paid for return shipping. I decided to go with size 56 and I'm glad I did, it fits perfectly. This jacket screams quality.
Size 50 is for guys like me, im around 5.7'
I have two Dainese jackets size 52 and I’m 5’11 180lbs
@@oliverocket same
This jacket is designed for people with small arms. I’m 5’10, 185 with a muscular build. I bought a size 56 and it fits perfect in the arms but a little loose around the body for me. I still love the jacket, though.
Nice Video, thx for that! Which pants do you recommend for that Jacket? Is the Misano a good match? Or do you prefer the Delta 3 Pants? i can't decide on...
and how 'bout back protector, Manis D1 in M to XXL or the smaller one when i choose a 50 size?
exactly what ive been looking for! a sporty jacket, with no speed hump and no screaming logos. I was about to puchase the d1 racing, but im really glad i came across this.
How is the fit of this compared to the Racing D1 jacket? Should I assume that I would be the same size in both? No one stocks this jacket locally in Australia, but they do have the D1 racing - so I may be able to go in and get a feel for size before buying from you guys.
It fits similarly to the Racing D1. In the case of our model, Hi-Viz Brian, he wears size 52 in both the Racing D1 and the Fighter. -DrewZilla

Hi. What is the best looking pant combo with the fighter jacket? Still the aliens? Or the pony c2? It should have the exactly same leather color and finish..
The Aliens are still the best option, as they're the only all-black pants with the D-Skin leather like the Fighter. -DrewZilla

Hi. That little italian patch appears on every model ? I think i can’t see it here. Awesome reviews Revzilla, awesome reviewss
Depending on the year the jacket was released, Dainese did start putting a little Italian flag on the inside of the zipper storm guard. I do not believe the Fighter gets this feature but unfortunately, given the national shutdown I am unable to check our inventory. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our Gear Geeks in customer service! - Pat
How does this fit compared to the Racing D1? Particularly in the shoulders? I really like the D1, but the injected shoulders don't align with my shoulders quite right.
The Fighter has lower-profile shoulders, so the fit is a bit more forgiving for a wider variety of people's shoulders compared to the Racing D1. I'd say it's worth a look. -DrewZilla
hi, i just got this jacket and a manis g2 back protector which the description says should fit, but it doesn't. should i try the manis g1 or is there another ce2 rated back protector that would fit?
The Forcefield Pro Lite K for Dainese is CE Level 2 and fits the Fighter Jacket. The Manis G1 is just as wide as the Manis G2, so if the issue is the length of the zipper for the back protector pocket, I'd go with the Forcefield. -DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/forcefield-pro-lite-k-back-insert-for-dainese
have a question is the same color as at video or more mat? or we have 2 tapes of jackets?
Does this jacket fit like the Super Speed D1? I really like the way the Super Speed D1 holds my body but I haven’t been able to find other jackets that fit like that, besides one piece suits
The Fighter has a slim fit, but it isn't as tight as the Super Speed. It's probably the closest fit to the Super Speed though. -DrewZilla
Intending to buy this piece but someone's getting it for me. Can someone please confirm the weight of this jacket in size 52?
can we still buy this in 2022 please?
2 questions,
1. I tried the racing 3 perforated in 54 and fitted perfect, should i go with the same size(is the fighter bigger)?
2. Do you know if this jacket could be used on the track? I'm between this one or the racing 3 perf., but I like this one because you could use it for commute without being so sporty..but on the other hand, I would like to be on the track one day! Thanks.
You should wear the same size 54, and yes, this can definitely be worn at the track along with any of Dainese's leather track pants. The D-Skin 2.0 leather used for the Fighter is actually even stronger than the Racing 3 leather. -DrewZilla
*bit.ly/Dainese_Fighter_Perf
How is the fitment compared to the Dainese Mike? I tried a friend's size 46 and liked how it fit except the sleeves were a bit long. Probably going to get a size 44 if I get the Mike. Will the Fighter fit the same?
Also trying to decide which version to get. I want it to vent in the warmer days but keep me warm when it's colder. Will the perforated version be too cold even with the thermal lining?
Why is there a 4 to 6 week lead time prior to shipping?
Thanks
The sizing is the same, but the Fighter has more pre-curve through the arms. HVB wears size 52 in both jackets. The sleeves are long on the Mike, while the Fighter's sleeves are a bit shorter. As for temperature, the Fighter perforated jacket with the thermal liner in should be comfortable down to the mid-50s. The non-perforated with the liner out might only be comfortable up to about 70 or maybe 75 degrees. Therefore, I'd probably go with the perforated version. As for lead time, any inventory not available here in the US has to come from Dainese Italy, and that takes 4-6 weeks. -DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/dainese-fighter-perforated-leather-jacket
so HVB wearing this jacket in size 52 but i saw him once wearing Stripes Tex with size 50. how come both jackets fit tightly on his body?
The Stripes Textile Jacket fits looser than the Fighter, which is why he wore a size 50. -DrewZilla
Interesting my height 174cm and weight 76 what size i need
Hi,
Can you tell me if the Pony C2 pants leather match this jacket in terms of color ( i know there is a difference in material d-skin vs tutu cowhide) but is noticeable in therms of color? Thanks.
The color is not the same, and the appearance is noticeable. D-Skin has a slightly shinier appearance than Tutu. -DrewZilla
@@RevZilla Thank's
How exactly do you upgrade the shoulder armor on these jackets? They are hook and loop (velcro) and I can't find any replacements anywhere. Pretty disappointing that the jacket comes with ce 1 shoulder and elbows, for the price it should come with ce 2 at the least.
Absolutely. It is an old design, but for the price, and to be current, this needs CE2 armor. Period.
Maybe 2023 will see some refreshes coming - with better quality protection.
Hi Zilla team. Would you pick this jacket over the Akira air not vintage? and why?
thanks!!!!
Even though the Akira has slightly better armor, the Fighter's D-Skin 2.0 leather is just so nice and protective. It's a tough call. If you prefer the better armor, go with the Akira. If you like the better leather, go with the Fighter. -DrewZilla
Dude I was wondering the same thing! I'm in between the two, I like the hard parts on the elbows on akira and I don't like what they did on the ribs/deltoids area on this jacket. Tough call!
GERMAN ZAMORA I got the akira. I also like the extra protection looks pretty badass
Hi, I wear size 44 for Hawker D-dry and with back protector it fits just fine. Do I need to buy size 46 if I intend to use dainese pro armor back protector on this jacket? because I read some reviews that suggest buying one size up
If you already fit in the Hawker in size 44, the Fighter would also likely be your best bet in that same size. It will definitely fit tighter out of the box as leather usually does compared to textiles, however once the jacket starts to break in and the leather relaxes, it will fit much better than a 46 that relaxes to be too big on you. If you want to discuss this more, please feel free to reach out to our Gear Geeks at 877.792.9455 or cs@revzilla.com and they will be able to help with your sizing to get you all dialed in. Ride safe, -Pat
@@RevZilla Thank you for your response. By the way, the sleeves of Hawker are a bit too long for me (size 44, armpit-to-cuff is 50 cm). Do you have any idea whether the sleeves on Fighter (same size = 44) are the same or shorter than those of Hawker?
I've been onto Dainese for years too about making blacked out jackets, we are riders not power rangers!! This one is so so close but I'm not liking the bi elastic stretch on the back should be leather accordion in that zone, the removable liner would not be needed if it had the premium bubble microclimate liner & it needed the small race hump. I guess I really wanted a Super Rider type jacket murdered out. I'll keep waiting and keep annoying Dainese haha
Yeah, the whole "over-branding" they do is nauseating for sure !
I don't know if it is a european thing (to have your name plastered all over your products in as many bright colors as possible) - or if it is just that they want you to be their (free) billboard to advertise their name every time you ride.
Thankfully, you can buy leather paint, and take care of their loud branding, if you really liked the jacket.
@@iamtheiceman Spot on mate, I actually just bought a Spidi jacket and I'm blacking it out with leather paint right now!
Does this come with the back protectors, chest, elbows etc. (Just turned 17)
It comes with the shoulder and elbow armor. Typically, back and chest protectors are sold separately. See the links below for the jacket and appropriate back/chest armor. -DrewZilla

does this have the zip that connect to the pants?
Yes, it has Dainese's standard connection zipper for attaching to Dainese pants. -DrewZilla
Hello revzilla... I am between alpinestars spectre and dainese fighter whats your opinion ? which is better overall?
fighter, just bought it, awesome!
Is the leather itself perforated? Worried about durability from just everyday wear.
There are two versions, the perforated and the non-perforated. On the perforated version, the leather itself is perforated. Dainese's leather is high quality, though, so you don't need to worry about durability. -DrewZilla

Would this be a good jacket for California "winters" and some rain?
I live in Cali. This jacket reminds me of my black D Avro c2 and that, (based on what we can see in this video) looks like it doesn't have as much perforation as this D Fighter jacket. I would say it's a good jacket year-round; with the liner I was very comfortable riding at 65+ mph on the highway on really cold nights in LA. The extra perf on this fighter looks like its more suiting for Cali than my own c2
+Miguel Del Rio I have a perf. racing D1 but it can get a bit cold on night rides at 70+ MPH
Lol, get some hand-warmer grips. It will change your life. I did used to get cold-- now that I recall, before I got my BMW S1KR, and using the heated grips make a bigger difference than I imagined.
+Miguel Del Rio I don't even know if they even make those for cbr600s lol
Lol if they do they're cheap and easy to install www.revzilla.com/motorcycle-parts
Ride safe bro!
Question: I'm 183 cm hight, weight 75 kg and my chest is 102 cm. Should I get size 50 or go for 52? Thank you.
If you think you'd wear the thermal liner more often than not, go for the 52. If you'd more often go without it, do the 50. -Kraus-e
Does it have the 360 zipper to connect to pants?
Yes, it has Dainese's standard wrap-around connection zipper, i.e. their jacket-trousers fastening system. -DrewZilla

Would you say this jacket is suitable for hot weather? I prefer the look of the Alpinestars Black Shadow more but it's not perforated.
Yes, the Fighter Perforated is suitable for hot weather. -DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/dainese-fighter-perforated-leather-jacket
Also, is it a very heavy jacket? Much heavier than the Street Darker? Thanks
It's about the same weight as the Street Darker. -DrewZilla
I have a chest size of 39-39.5" and the other measurements fall in line with euro size 50 but I will be adding a Manis D1 G2 back protector to it. Will the size 50 be too small for me with the back protector? Thanks.
Nope, jackets are made with back protectors in mind. The Fighter is snug, but you can still get your normal size if you plan on putting a back protector in there. That said, I would sooner get the Pro Armor instead of the Manis. The Manis is just bulky and uncomfortable for no reason. -Kraus-e

RevZilla thanks for the reply! One other question, my waist size is sightly bigger than what it should be for size 50 but the Fighter looks like it has some give at the waist with the elastic sides, should that be okay with the Fighter is size 50 still? Thanks again!
Yup, there's some give-- and leather stretches and breaks in over time. -Kraus-e
RevZilla thanks for all the help!
You're welcome!
Does this jacket run smaller than the alpine stars brand.. I’m a 56 with APS .. do I get a 58 with this jacket??
It should be pretty similar to Alpinestars. For example, Hi-Viz Brian in the video wears size 52 in both Dainese and Alpinestars generally. I recommend size 56 for you. -DrewZilla
RevZilla That’s the problem.. I have an athletic build 36 waist(6-8 pack) and 46 chest and kind of broad shoulders.. lot of room in the jaws around my waist area.. I was wondering if the fighter was on the slim side in the waist..
The Fighter is a bit slimmer through the waist. -DrewZilla
Is it safe to wear in a light sprinkling of rain?
Ideally, you do not want to wear this jacket in the rain, as this leather is not designed for use in wet weather. If you do get caught in the rain, you would need to re-condition the jacket. See our guide on maintaining leather gear for more details. -DrewZilla

How does the fit compare to the AVRO 4? Have that one already and its the best fitting jacket I've tried.
At the store, i was planning to buy AVRO 4, but went for Fighter, much more comfortable and the fit is just excellent.
Would you guys say this is like a slightly higher spec, black version of the Avro? I was going to order the Avro because of the colder weather options (for the non perf obviously) but this thing looks daaaamn good.
Yes. The Avro D1 uses the nice Tutu leather, while the Fighter uses the even nicer D-Skin 2.0. Both the Fighter and Avro have removable thermal liners. The Fighter is available in both perforated and non-perforated versions. -DrewZilla

Which pants is suitable for this jacket ?
For leather pants, I recommend the Alien Pants, since they use the same D-Skin leather and have a similar stealth look. For textile pants, I recommend the New Drake Air Pants. -DrewZilla

There is knee armor on the inside. Are you referring to knee sliders? Those aren't for impact protection. Knee sliders just provide a reference point for racers when on a race track. They aren't really useful for the street. -DrewZilla

How many Jackets does Anthony own?
All of them...which is either way too many or not nearly enough haha! -DrewZilla
Lol Lucky man! I would consider it the latter. I feel like if one doesn't own enough, it would feel like the formal-- at least, that's the case for my girlfriend and her clothes lol
hmm do I need to replace my Avro...
what jeans is he wearing?
They're just a pair of Abercrombie & Fitch jeans. They aren't riding jeans. -DrewZilla
lol Drew is too honest. Coulda just said a pair of non riding jeans.
Hey guys from RZ! Can you replace the protectors from shoulders and elbows in this particular jacket? They are level 1 and I would replace them with level 2 ones!
I think the Avro 4 is better looking in my opinion
Grr why doesn't Dainese make blacked-out stuff like this for ladies? We wanna feel like badasses too!
You may want to check out the Alpinestars Vika jacket- it has similar, subdued styling.-TeamZilla AJ

@RevZilla I actually have that jacket! It's great for city riding, but it's definitely not made for anything more aggressive than that. I want to see the shoulder sliders, microelastication, etc.
I get the audience for that kind of gear is tiny, but it's still frustrating 😤
fiiirst!!! . . . i think?
alpinestars did it way better; this does not even come close to be worthing 7. looks like such a cheap jacket
I'll just wait for it to go on sale. :)
You must be patient.
How do you figure? The A* looks a bit too blingy, I think this is much more subtle while still being technical / protective.
