- Dainese Super Speed Textile Jacket Review
www.revzilla.co...
The Dainese Super Speed textile jacket borrows its styling queues from the Super Speed leather jacket to create a lightweight 3-season jacket. The Super Speed textile uses a combination of Duratex fabric and Boomerang mesh for the outer shell and is equipped with a removable windproof insert. The shoulders get double-duty protection with exterior aluminium inserts and internal CE armor that is also found in the elbows. The back protector can be upgraded with a G1 or G2 back protector and a pocket for a Thorax chest protector is located at the front of the jacket. The Dainese Super Speed makes a great sporty option for Spring-Summer-Fall riding and makes a great compliment to a leather jacket. Offered in 3 color options and in Euro sizes 44-64.
Did Anthony forget his coffee this morning?
I'll tell you this one is on my short list for just that kind of riding. I'm hoping to pick one up next month. -CK
just bought one today was easily my favorite in the store
Definitely liked the in-depth detail you gave us. Living in the middle of the country with a small population, you don't exactly have the chance to see and try on a good variety of equipment. The website and reviews that you give have guided a lot of my gear choices, and I appreciate that. The "3-season jacket" statement really stuck with me on this one. Also liked the looks of the jacket and the aluminum shoulder plating. I'll be asking for this for Christmas!
Agreed, but the removable liner will allow you to push it into the Spring/Fall. The liner is water resistant, but won't be effective against a downpour. -CK
And again Revzilla is the first to make the review ! I was expecting for this video , sounds we have a winner here : racing leather protection level in a mesh jacket ! Awesome !
The Aspide was my top pick for a long time. It won't flow as much air as your Portland, but works well for a more mild spring/summer climate. -CK
As far as slide protection, would it provide moderate protection from road abrasion?
This has to be the best summer mesh jacket for a sport bike rider! Picked one up from the Philly store just yesterday - did a run to NYC and got back today, it was around 90° and the jacket handled it perfectly. Great athletic fit with good articulation (those stretch panels really help) and it flows a ton of air in all riding positions; I expected less air flow from those relatively small front mesh areas. The amazing Dainese fit, finish and protection is where this jacket really shines though.
Dainese is quite consistent in regards to sizing. There are only a few exceptions and i wouldn't consider the Super Speed to be one of them. Go ahead and try size 54 first, the Shield Air G2 will fit nicely in the back. -CK
I bought this jacket from Revzilla this last spring. Great customer service and the jacket is amazing. Been out in temps ranging from 45 with base layers up to 98. Works great and is super comfortable. Thanks Revzilla.
As far as slide protection, would it provide moderate protection from road abrasion?
@@bluefalcon5743 I believe it would hold up fairly well.
These are a bit tough due to the shoulder sliders. Typically, you can take out the interior armor and put it through on a cold water wash, hang dry. However, I would wash this by hand with soap and water, rinse, and hang dry so that those Titanium sliders don't scratch up. -CK
I actually really want one now. This will be a Christmas gift to myself.
Hey Tejas. You could potentially be a 48 or a size 50. If you plan on upgrading the back protection and wearing a layer under the jacket, you might want to go with the larger size. Don't forget our Gear Geeks are here to help and can size up Dainese jackets in their sleep. ~Ali
I find the G1 size to be the best option for jackets under 52. The G2 will still fit, but it is kind of bulky on a smaller build. -CK
Score! The new Super Speed jacket is pretty awesome. I'd wear it around the house too. ~Ali
I have this Jacket and it goes great for all seasons in my opinion. Very comfortable too.
You can get a back protector separately to insert for this jacket! Either the Wave G, or the Shield Air would work. -CK
I suggest checking out the Dainese Aspide Textile jacket that has a very similar profile and no mesh. ~Ali
Dainese New Drake Air Textile Pants are as mesh as Italy has to offer. They don't come in tall sizes, but they do run tall in general for the brand. They are meant to be tucked into race boots, instead of being an over-the-boot pant. -CK
The Aspide doesn't have any mesh panelling, so the Super Speed Textile will definitely offer more venting. In addition, the Super Speed has a removable wind liner. -CK
I'm looking for the same :-( as well! Unfortunately, Dainese didn't produce enough of these. It is a definitely a winner and I think they underestimated the demand in the US. -CK
Ordered mine during the Black Friday 15% weekend last week. It's still technically on pre-order. Since it's winter more or less, the wait is a little more bearable. I'm sure I'll wear it around the house while dreaming about riding.
Yes, the Super Speed textile can accept a G1 or G2 back protector and the Thorax Chest protector. ~Ali
Probably one of the best looking textile jackets out there. I want. Want real bad.
Personally, I find the G1 to be a better fit for jackets 52 and smaller. The G2 will still fit, but it feels more bulky. -CK
Its on my short list too! -CK
Agreed, would like to see some more of this jacket back in stock, especially in size 50 euro.
Most Dainese inventory should be coming back into stock within the next 30-60 days. Stay tuned, or sign up to be notified on the product detail page. -CK
You and about 300 others :-(. We are hoping for replenishment over the summer, but Dainese underestimated how big of a hit this jacket would be in the US so they are behind on inventory. -CK
The jacket looks fantastic. I'm likely going to buy it
Do you have a chest measurement to go with that? Let me know and I should be able to recommend a size. Thanks! -CK
thank you antony. i live in india and there are no dainese dealers here so i think i should buy it online and get it shipped.
Resistant, yes, but not water proof. -CK
Hey Antony,
Great Video. Well put together and Love the gear!
All my gear is currently AStars but this jacket has me seriously considering replacing my T-GP-R Air for the summer months.
Yes, you can link directly to the product detail page from the video description above. -CK
I would say, I too am looking for either white/black or white/black/red in size 50 or 52, prefer 52. Talk about terrible marketing on Dainese's part.. make a summer jacket... be out of stock entire summer. Makes sense mkay.
why does the jacket look so loose on him?
He's just very lanky. He could go down one size, but it would be too short in the arms and torso. -DrewZilla
We do ship to India! Please visit our website for more details on international orders. -CK
Very Helpful review and a great looking jacket.
I wish they made an alternate version of this jacket without any of the mesh and just vent zippers instead.. I love the styling, shoulder sliders and fit but I just can't trust a jacket with spots that have virtually no abrasion resistance. I have seen people go down in similar jackets and the leather or abrasion resistant textile impact area catches and it twists the material or moves their arm and the mesh comes in contact with the road and it just eats up the mesh all the way through.
This jacket looks amazing...When can we expect this to be available?
I'm still deliberating over the above jacket and Dainese leather. I know I know... The textile is more versatile and can allow much more airflow and is better for more seasons. So why is it I still want leather?!
hi Antony
i'm 5'9 and my chest size is 39.i'm athelete built. what size would you recommend for the super speed textile ? you do an excellent job.. thank you for the reviews. it helps us.
I just picked up one of these and I love it! What's the best way to wash these?
Also, I wear a size 50; what size back protector should I use?
looks cool, but the main front zipper quit working after two rides 🙁
never crashed or abused it, it zips up fine, but getting it off is almost impossible, as the zipper is almost impossible to get to unzip without a third or fourth hand assisting. about halfway down it feels like it has a flap of fabric stuck in it but it doesn't... its just poorly made.
not too happy with Dainese quality... it's not good. it feels cheap compared to my Held and Astars gear, but it's more expensive. 🤔
Hi RevZilla,
I'm 6'2", 186 lbs with a 43". Should I take 52 or 54?
BTW great review!
I'd recommend size 54. -DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/dainese-super-speed-textile-jacket
Why oh why can Dainese not make this jacket in short sizes?? How about you Revzilla guys talk to them about that? Same comment for the Super Speed D1 jacket.
You think is good for adventure use and occasional off road riding...?
this is summer textile. for 3 months riding.
Very much looking for the Size 50, in Black/White/Grey! I can't find it anywhere. I'd really want to buy this from you guys since you've been great on orders in the past. I've got the email notification set up, but I don't think you guys can order enough of these!
are you guys going to have this jacket in stock any time soon? im a little disappointed that i didnt pre-order it and it seemed you guys got enough to just cover pre-orders.
Out of stock !! When can we buy the red version of this jacket ??
yeah ive been waiting on the white and black aswell size 48 any shipments coming in soon
how much?
the guy with the jacket is like "look guys im a model" lol
Hello, is it impermeable ? (water resistant)
what happened with this video it was well described but not at breakneck speed!
I wear a dainese talos goretex 52 size with a g2 back protector. it is a bit large without the warm interior. a 50 on textile black will suit fine to me? i am 1.79 height tall, 85 kgr weight. I intend to use also a thorax in pocket. only with t-shirt. it has to be snuggy but dont want it to be short on sleeves.
I have a dainese goretex talos for 3season riding.... I need a new one for summer time (from may to september).
Is this suitable for me and my hot climate (urban environment, 35 celcius) or even travelling? It looks rly wonderful!
Seems to be a nice Jacket - I am 5"8 167 lbs and 39 in chest, what would you recommend in size? Thanks
A 48 would probably fit well, but tight. A 50 would be best in my opinion. I have roughly the same dimensions and have had both, but prefer the 50. -Kraus-e
when are you guys going to have the white/black/grey available? man i have been waiting for like 3 months... :'(
i see you guys got a bunch of black/white/red in stock, any word on the black/white/gray?
How is the gut area compared to the chest? Based on the measurements I should be OK for the 64, but I carry a couple of spare lunches around the waist, which may or may not impede the closure of a more euro style jacket. Thanks!
There's a decent amount of room in the waist as well, so I think it's worth trying the 64. -DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/dainese-super-speed-textile-jacket
Hey, this jacket looks really good to me! What are some good summer pants that could fit pants underneath it and go with the jacket?
I wear the Dainese Over Flux Pants over pants or shorts for summer commuting and riding. They zip to the Super Speed jacket as well. -DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/dainese-over-flux-pants
What are the major differences between this and Aspide? They seem very similar to me in terms of function and price.
I have Delmar and Air Frame, just looking for another jacket for rotation.
Whys the thorax protector only on 1 side?
can I wear this jacket just for good weather or can I also weat it by bad weather?
(I am from germany)
ty for feedback, the question was rly about size :) ...
My goretex talos is 52 and is a bit large without the interior. how is this jacket overall? tight form or normal dainese?
thinking of picking one 50 for this since I will wear it only with tshirt for summer riding.
I wonder cause I want to wear both protections, G1-2 for back and thorax for chest. I have a medium chest thorax, it will suit with a 50?
I was going to buy this but out of stock in my size and discontinued, can you suggest a similar jacket?
did u tried it m8 for sharing a feedback with us lads? xD
Can i upgrade this jacket with a chest and back protector?
i have the red, white, black one. how can i clean the white panels?
We recommend using NikWax Tech Wash. -DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/nikwax-tech-wash
Hi. I want to buy this jacket frome the enternet but i dont know what size i mast buy.... for exaple 55-60 size?? how i can found my size???
is this jacket perfect for tropical weather ?
Yes, due to the high ventilation mesh textile, it is really good for tropical weather. -DrewZilla
*bit.ly/SuperSpeedTex
how does the chest/thorax protector (pocket) work? I see that there's only a pocket on the right side and none on the left. (Just got one today and was looking it over)
ALexpWTFISTHAT The Super Speed accepts the one-piece L2 Chest Protector. Only half the chest protector inserts into the pocket, but that's by design, as that's all it takes to keep the chest protector in position. So, you insert the one-piece chest protector into the pocket as far as it will go, then zip the jacket up, and you're ready to ride! Hope this helps! -DrewZilla

I'm looking for weeks for an answer to the problem. There is no answer anywhere in the product description or any product test.
I intentionally searched this video for exactly this question.
Now that I have the answer, I'm surprised at this strange solution. They could have been done better.
Which Dainese pants you suggest for this jacket? I own it 54 size. (180cm 100kg Belly is a bit problem but I can always loose weight :D ) I ride with a kevlar motocycle jean but I want to zip a pant to this jacket for touring. I also think about I will buy a winter, late fall, early spring jacket from Dainese but I dont want to buy another pant. I want to use the same pant with also super speed tex. I look for D-dry evo but I am not sure about its protection.
Sahab Can What temperatures do you experience in the summer and winter months? -Hi-Viz Brian
RevZilla Summer 108F not all the time but average is 97-90F. Lowest winter time which I stop riding 57F. Humidity is between 60-80%.
Sahab Can If you're averaging 90ºF+ temperatures in the summer months, I highly recommend a mesh setup. However, the problem with mesh setups in the winter (c. 60ºF temperatures) is their ventilation / breathability. Some mesh setups come with thermal liners (not Dainese, but REV'IT! listed below), but the thermal liners will be all that stands in the way of your body and the cold. You may be able to get away with one if you add additional base / mid-layers underneath. If they don't work with your mesh or mesh w/ thermal setup, I recommend a summer and winter option like the Dainese Drake Super Air pants (summer) and the D-System EVO D-Dry pants (winter). -Hi-Viz Brian

What dainese textile pants would go well with this jacket?
Hi revzillia..i am 165 cm and weight 75kg..what size will fit me for this jacket? Thanks
gunawan chen It really depends on your chest size. Measure your chest circumference according to the size chart linked below. -DrewZilla

I'm not that big of fan of the color schemes and shoulder aluminum sliders. What other jackets would you suggest that look aggressive and vent well like this?
What do you think about the Dainese Air-3 textile jacket? Also, if you want to see shoulder sliders in action, send me an email at cs@revzilla.com. I unfortunately had the unpleasant opportunity of testing them. -Hi-Viz Brian

How good is it really riding in 85-95*F Florida humid weather, city riding not highway riding?!?
Almost anything is going to be hot in those conditions. I would recommend the more-vented Air Flux D1 along with a synthetic wicking base layer shirt. -DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/dainese-air-flux-d1-jacket
is this waterproof?
+MysteriousRider This version isn't, so you'd want to look at the Super Speed D-Dry, which does have a removable waterproof liner. -DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/dainese-super-speed-d-dry-jacket
Just discovered the City Guard D1, and love it for around town. It's obviously near total mesh, and my Joe Rocket mesh jackets also flow a ton of air riding around down here in summertime Daytona Beach. Differences in crash protection notwithstanding, I'm just wondering how much airflow I'd sacrifice with the Super Speed Textile, as it just doesn't look quite as "open"? Thanks in advance for your time, Sparks
You'll only sacrifice a bit of ventilation, but you'd be gaining a lot of abrasion resistance. As you know, the City Guard D1 lacks some abrasion resistance in order to have all the mesh. I'd rather be a little warmer with more abrasion resistance if riding at highway speeds. -DrewZilla
Thanks very much!
hi im 173cm and 73 kg and my chest is 95cm, waist is 72cm(32"), which size fits me?
Oh is this a waterproof jacket? if not, is there other Dainese waterproof jacket out there for Malaysian weather? Thanks
Premium Grade BB I recommend a 48 Dainese Super Speed D-Dry Jacket. -Hi-Viz Brian

This jacket or the Alpinestars T-GP Plus R v2? I am 6' 2" 190lbs 41in chest. I just got the New Drake Textile Pants. Love em so far.
I recommend this Super Speed in size 52 to go with the New Drake Air Pants. -DrewZilla
I'm concerned with the back of this jacket. How well will the mesh hold up in a slide with a back protector in?
This looks great for summer riding but I worry about the sleeve length. Im 6'4" with a 40" chest and nothing ever fits both my chest/waist and has long enough sleeves. Is this as close as I can get (with a size 50EU) while maintaining that sweet styling without getting a custom made jacket?
+CollegeRepulblican The Super Speed does tend to run a little longer in the arms, but it's not very long in the torso. If more of your height is in your legs rather than your torso, you might be ok. Otherwise, I suggest the REV'IT! Levante, as it has both long arms and a longer torso. -DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/revit-levante-jacket
183 cm height (6 ft even), 79 kg (176 lb), chest about 101cm (39/40 in). Would a size 48 be snug but okay or would it be too small?
+Yicheng Feng It would be snug. You may prefer size 50. -DrewZilla
compare to helmet, does jacket have a life span? or can i buy a brand new of it(sale price) or just buy the latest model?
Unlike helmets, jackets do not have a lifespan for safety. -DrewZilla
vince serrano black lasts much longer.
Does the Alpinestars KR1i fit in this jacket?
in comparison with the shotgun textile, super speed textile, and air2 textile which one is better in airflow, to keep you cool in high tempratures and why?
i think super speed is very nice, beatifull look like racing leather jacket but im thinking its not so cool like air2 because mesh panels in air2 in the front are huge!
your opinion please? thanks :)
Actually, they're all about the same. All three vent extremely well. I have the Super Speed textile and it's my favorite out of the three from a comfort and protection standpoint. -Hi-Viz Brian
RevZilla Hi-Viz, any word on what size you went for and how the sleeves come down for you?
It's so hard to pick between this and the racing c2 perforated leather jacket :( usually ride around 66-70s and some rare occasions low 80s and 60f° in the mornings. What would you guys recommend? Thanks
dohser805 I'd go leather because the textile Super Speed jacket will flow too much cold air in low temperatures. -Hi-Viz Brian
RevZilla so do you think the textile will be bad for 70degree weather? And thanks in advance, you guys rock!
dohser805 The textile version will work well in the 70's. It will get chilly in the 60's. -Hi-Viz Brian
I wear the super speed c2 from about 50-80 over here in arizona, I'd definitely recommend it over mesh for your conditions
Master Daedalus i actually got the super speed textile and love it! it was in the 50s at night and didnt really feel cold, right now its in the 80s and it is still quite warm, but once im riding i forget how warm it is!(took off liner even in the 50s and still did okay)
i want this jacket i am going to start riding hopefully in the next few months and looking into gear and wanted to know would this be ok for florida's 90+ degree summers and what dainese pants would you recommend for these
Yes, the Super Speed is good for Florida weather, and I recommend the New Drake Air and Drake Super Air pants to complement the jacket. -DrewZilla

the only thing holding me back from purchasing this jacket is sizing, I'm a fairly new rider and this will be my first jacket I'm 5'5" 150 lbs and I'm really not sure what size would fit me right any advice Revzilla?
+Miguel Gonzalez I highly recommend you use a cloth tape measure to take your chest and waist measurements according to the size chart linked below. Let us know if you have any additional questions. -DrewZilla

+RevZilla 39" chest would i wear a size 48EU 38US?
+Miguel Gonzalez Yes, for a 39" chest, I would recommend size 48EU for a good snug fit. -DrewZilla
Would you say the Air Frame D1, would feel a lot cooler in 30c+ heat with traffic lights, than this?
It won't be a big difference. When stopped, everything will feel hot, and when riding from light to light, both flow similar amounts of air. The Air Frame might feel just a bit cooler. A bigger advantage might be to go with a jacket that isn't black, which would eliminate both of these. REV'IT! has a few options in lighter colors. If you prefer black, though, then just take the heat effect into consideration. -DrewZilla

@@RevZilla I was looking at the 'air frame' and 'super speed' with the white arms, to use with the Pro Armor G1 insert.
That's fine. Just understand that the jackets are still mostly black, so they'll get hot from the sun in stop and go traffic. -DrewZilla
@@RevZilla Well for me its just the lights, otherwise I'll be getting away quick, so with that in mind the air frame would be cooler? unless the revit can fit the pro armor insert as well?
I have to update my response considering the discussions across your other comments. If you want Pro Armor chest protection, you cannot use the Air Frame D1. Also, given that you won't be stopped so much, having a somewhat black jacket should be ok. Therefore, I'll repeat my recommendations from the other comment thread. Hope this helps! -DrewZilla

Which Thorax protection do you recommend? i already use a D1 G2 with the Jacket.
The Super Speed accepts a one-piece chest protector, but unfortunately, Dainese is no longer producing that protector. However, Alpinestars makes a chest protector that can be used instead, so consider the Nucleon Chest Protector in size MD-XL. -DrewZilla

hydri arief If you like your gear to have a snug fit, I recommend a 52. If you want a more relaxed fit, a 54 should do the trick. -Hi-Viz Brian
I'm looking for a jacket for summer but also wind proof for winter is this a good option ?
+ugalde I'm not sure where you're located, so I'm not sure how cold your winter is. With the wind liner in, you can comfortably wear this down to about 60-65 degrees F. With the liner out, you can wear it in pretty hot weather. -DrewZilla
