I've put over 40,000 miles on my Fieldsheer 2 piece perforated leather jacket and pants and they have been top notch. Although heavy and maybe not the best material for the rain I feel the safest. I Treat them with Lexol once a year and they still look great. I wear an under layer in the winter that blocks the wind and keeps me warm and I wear a rain suit over them if I get caught in the rain. Sweet video! I really enjoy how this gear review was done somewhat in the style of your usual bike reviews. Very intriguing with a little bit more narrative and a softer tempo. Keep up the awesome work!

I enjoy Ryan's satire and his videos, but when he said he pled the 5th, i thought, wait a minute, how does a Canadian plead an American ammendment? Its all good Ryan. Greetings from the Louisiana gulf south.

Nice to see Fieldsheer still offering great value and high quality. I have three of their leather jackets. The oldest (about 10 years now) held up during a track day high-side which destroyed the matching leather pants...left me bruised but only rash on my hand when my glove blew out.
PSA for USA viewers: Majority of Fieldsheer's item is on sale(crazy sale) and thanks to Ryan and f9 team I just picked up a Monaco jacket and leather pants.
F9 and yammie are great. I cant stand these youtubers who feel the need to show themselves weaving through traffic on the highway at 150mph. Not something a new rider should think is normal or even remotely doable for them. Yammie may have a checkered history when it comes to riding but at least he doesn't advertise it all over his channel.

This came in just the right time. Been looking for a real motorcycle leather jacket for the upcoming colder seasons and switching to a cafe styled bike. Quality content and presentation as always. Cheers!
Aerostich is taking orders for their new Transit 3 leathers, to start shipping in October. The waterproof leather product is different from what they used for the Transit 1 and 2. I have placed my order.
I tried the Ignition out for a couple weeks. Loved the jacket overall, but could not get past how rough the cuffs are. The material around the wrists at the very end of the sleeve is equivalent to sandpaper. It rubbed my wrists raw, and I had to return an otherwise awesome jacket simply because they couldn’t wrap some sort of soft material around the cuffs. Bought an Alpinestars GP Plus R v2 Airflow and I’ve been super happy with it.
While we are talking about leather jackets i gotta mention Sweep. A finnish brand. I think its very good for northern dudes that has to experience cold weather. Inside the jacket there is waterproof liner and after that thermal liner. 2 waterproof pockets and 2 regular, inside the jacket there is phone pocket and mp3 pocket+a hole to feed headphone wire through if someone still uses wire. Without the inside bits this is still very warm, maybe too warm for southern brothers.
If you don't like short jackets and you're European consider "Invictus Ulyssess". I ordered from Spain, came in a few days, looks good, relatively cheap, so far seems durable. I wear my shirt out for work so I needed something longer to cover it.
I got a Icon Hypersport last year with all the pads included at half off on revilla because people weren’t buying in that color. You can get good gear cheap if you look around or wait a little bit.
Ryan, I know this video is for riding gear, but I couldn't find a 'comments / request segment' on on your home page to ask this..... so.... "Just a side thought here", I think 'we' would love to hear Your walk-through and / or tests, on 'First MFG' leather apparel .[ I own both the Rampage vest and the Mastermind jacket, the jacket takes the padding inserts ]. May have to wait till this Covid issue has subsided, but, it would be interesting to hear Your take on their product...... even if its not Cana'jun in origin..... ;) Also, while I am here...... Are you ever going to do a Slam review on the Yamaha XVS 950 Bolt ????,,,, I can't find one in your list. Or did I miss it ?? The reason I ask , many call it Yamaha's Harley killer. ..... I have one and it's definitely got the bills to put the 883 in its place. It would be nice for some feed back , [The Rod Serling style presentation that you do would be cool, Ha !] As for the lean angle of the Bolt ,.... I can tip it right over ~35 Degrees at 40 to 70 kph in corners and no peg scraping...... ever. Yup, I have thin chicken strips on this one. Stay Safe and Ride on. W
Love watching your videos. But I ride a Harley, so... not many of these go with the Harley gut I have obtained over the years. I have Klim and Harley brand jackets, most with some pads, but I have to say that Harley does make some fantastic leather jackets. Pricey as well, but I shop around and the $750 jacket I so longed for was finally found for $300. Still brand new with tags. Just gotta keep looking. But thanks for the video. As always, very helpful.
Do the internal zippers for the Fieldshare and the Tech Air line up? If they're compatible then you could use the tech air vest inside the Fieldshare jacket and save some cash.
Budget advice? Go to Vietnam, Bangladesh or Pakistan - where most of the "Italian" and "American" brands make their stuff - and pay someone at the back door to sell you one. ~RF9
The fieldsheer is pretty much the cheapest leather jacket worth buying, spend less and you're better off getting textiles. Leather is just inherently expensive sadly
Don't have any experience with that brand so YMMV, i just think saving up for a quality leather jacket is worth it since they generally last so long and leather quality varies so much. All i can recommend is doing your homework and making sure you know what you are getting yourself into
For the life of me, can't seem to get my living, breathing, cow friend to stop bellowing in my ear, as she rides two-up, hooves clinching tightly into my well padded mid section. Other than the bellowing, I feel safe and well protected in my full wrap around leather outer garment. Excellent, highly informative and educational video, once again. Thanks.
F9 might I suggest the Belstaf H racer Cardigan. It's more style than safety but it's rubberized jersey so it's an interesting jacket for wetter climates.
HEY F9 TEAM, you missed the Roland Sands "Ronin" jacket. I have it in tobacco, and man is it gorgeous! I get compliments every time I wear it, I've been in a slide with it and a little polish makes it look like nothing happened, it has room for armor pads inside, you can wear it off the bike absolutely perfectly, and the branding is almost nonexistant on it save a small "Roland Sands" text on the inside of the forearm. I searched high and low for 3 months for a jacket like it because it's durable enough to have it for the rest of my life, it's very protective, it looks beautiful on or off a bike, and I don't have to advertise a brand while wearing it.
Question. Have you done anything on riding boots? Including women’s. Cause I want to know why they don’t put an extra reinforcement layer on the top of the left foot so it doesn’t get crushed in so badly. ?????
Questions about the viscoelastic armor, should it be saved after a crash? Can it be used in another jacket after the a crash? Or should it be dumped it at a recycling bin?
Damn, you guys did it again. Your videos are amazing, captivating, quality to make others cry. Subjects I have no real interest in, there isn't a jacket you showed that comes big enough for me (the last jacket I tried was tight in the waist and when i leaned forward swallowed my head like that plant from Little Shop of Horrors) but I loved this video. Watched it twice it's so nice. I like the grey/black model for style best. Thanks!
The missile is a little more track oriented whereas the motegi v2 is way better and a lot more comfortable on the streets, but as far as I know I does not come as a 2 piece. If you want a 1 piece I'd recommend the motegi v2 over the missle
Ryan, what sleeve length do you typically wear in a dress shirt? I'm 6' 3" like you and wear a 37" sleeve. I'm trying to get a sense of whether the jackets that appear to fit you would fit me.
Ryan, I'm going to buy the Alpine jacket and later on the airbag part of it. Pretty expensive, but my wife told me, you can not budget on safety..I followed your advice on tires and the 2017 gloves videos, looking for cellphone holders since the last one was around 2016. Keep up the good work!
20 years later and raising 4 children have left my former slim yet athletic physique in need of reconditioning. How about a great all around every day jacket for fellows with the extra gas tank around the mid section? I bought an Alpine Stars leather jacket online that fit perfect except the mid section. It seems these choices may be the same. Beer guts I mean, not big and tall or really heavy fellas. Normal shoulders, Normal chest, normal arm length, normal torso length just a big beer gut poking out. It’s very hard to find a fitting jacket that makes room for a mid section without compromising or increasing the dimensions of all the other aspects of the jacket. Big belly must mean huge chest and monster arms, right?! Any suggestions for comparable safety on a budget? Safest most comfortable common sense everyday riding jacket. Thanks!
Skip the jacket and get a gym membership. Gives you the excuse to buy new clothes a few months down the road, and comes with the added benefit of quicker acceleration 😁
Old video I know, but anyways... I was actually thinking the carry on jacket would work great in reverse - ride with it on, roll it up and strap it to the bike when you get to your destination if said jacket doesn't make sense. Maybe it's blazing balls hot out, or your going to... idk, a store or restaurant or w/e where "that look" or a heavy jacket isn't appropriate or necessary. But ya, guess you could also just strap it down if your a risk taker and are going for a short casual ride, and maybe want the option to armor up a bit if it gets longer, more serious or colder lol, than expected.
As i found when heading down south a fair bit ventilation(to warm or to cold) is one of the biggest safety issues What worked for me at home was so unbelievably hot and unventilated... it was very very dangerous literaly not possible to drink enough to keep up with the sweating and not sweating enough to keep up with the temperature...

Ryan, what sleeve length do you typically wear in a dress shirt? I'm 6' 3" like you and wear a 37" sleeve. I'm trying to get a sense of whether the jackets that appear to fit you would fit me.
“Canadian firepower.” 🏒 Indeed! (And we don’t need a license to carry it concealed.) Great vid Ryan. 🇨🇦
007, license to puck.
I'm not buying a jacket but found the reviews interesting and thought provoking, along with the regular fortnine high brow humour. Good content mate 👌
I love how well your vids are made please keep making them
Another awesome video. Good job, Ryan.
Channel still awesome. Keep being awesome.
No love for the icon sanctuary?
Is it because it's part leather part textile?
s-p-vintage on ebay has a great selection of vintage leather motorcycle jackets! Great value and quality, sturdy jackets.
I love gear "almost" as much as I love mods. Motorcycles are an expensive addiction.
This guy makes very good videos. I rest my case.
As i found when heading down south a fair bit ventilation(to warm or to cold) is one of the biggest safety issues
What worked for me at home was so unbelievably hot and unventilated... it was very very dangerous literaly not possible to drink enough to
keep up with the sweating and not sweating enough to keep up with the temperature...
