The excitement of this long-awaited trip is palpable as we board our JAL flight that's equipped with comfortable seats and impeccable service. As soon as we arrive in Tokyo, Japan, we're off to start our adventure.
Our first night in Japan is spent meeting up with my wife's friend and grabbing a bite to eat before we turn in for the night after a long travel day.

The rules around lounge access are becoming more and more strict. They didn't allow you in because you are a "non-rev" customer. I have the credit card so I have been in the O'Hare Admirals lounge many times -- trust me you are not missing much! The food selection is pretty sad although the people that work there are very nice and work hard. I just read the annual fee for this card will increase and they are taking some perks away like bringing a guest, so I'll probably drop this card. Anyway, you got the real win, which is an upgrade to business class on JAL!!
You're absolutely right! I'm glad I didn't miss anything, lol! And the cool lounge experience was at Haneda...since we came back in premium economy...unfortunately, I didn't film that, as I was super exhausted, lol! Thank you so much for watching!

Strange that there's a policy that people that were upgraded into business class aren't allowed into the Admirals Lounge. Interesting caveat they added. I would figure as long as you were traveling in business class no matter how it was obtained, that you would be allowed in. I wonder what the policy is for those who book with miles.

That seemed pretty mean that you couldn't go into the lounge. Shouldn't matter if your ticket was bought or upgraded.

@@jeremyvitiello I've been upgraded a few times on flights to business class and that seems the same with most airlines these days. That lounge would have had a contract with JAL and would have charged them I don't know maybe a $100.00 per business passenger so I get it that they have upgraded you for free so they don't want it to cost them money on top of that.
