Wow This is Amazing! Thank you! This song gives me so many good memories & tears me up at the same time. It takes me back 20+ years to when I was a kid in the Navy traveling the world. It was one of many amazing songs my best friend use to play on his 6 string bass to blow off steam. One particularity great day back in 02 we had just gone thru the Panama Canal in our ship and were coming up the Cali Coast. We were taking 45+ foot seas. It was the best sleep we ever got, but I’ll never forget how he had to anchor one leg on the bulkhead to keep steady while playing this very song LOL He ended up tragically passing away from cancer 6 years ago. Fair winds & Following Seas, Neil, you are eternally missed!
WOW …! That solo was so spot-on I kinda wondered if it was UA-cam I was watching. I very rarely use words like perfect, impeccable, flawless or just fucking brilliant to describe a cover, because it seems like almost every cover always has some weaknesses that hasn't been finely practiced to perfection. This cover though, was just it; it really was mad good. I mean, I can say a cover was awesome, but that doesn't come close to what you've managed. It's just so wonderful seeing a cover like this with a sound that not only does your skills justice, but also fits perfectly to the song and the solo. I very often miss that. Also, your fine-tuned clean technique and dead-on timing really catches the sound of Mustaine, which warms my heart. Yeah, and I love your bending, especially in the start of the third mini-solo. I always wondered why so many guitarists practice alternate picking like crazy and everything sounds really great, but then when the bends come, the guitar screams for mercy. I've seen some few but amazing covers of other bands here on the Tube, but this one really surprised me. I'm subscribing, and thank you for sharing your skills - you are truly one in a million.
you make it look so easy i just learned this and i am 56 years old. just recently saw Metallica in concert figured i need to do this song. excellent by the way
Yeah that's what i said when i learned the song but once you start slow you can get up to that speed. I can't solo to save my life. That my friend will take me a while to do xD
Very clean, love it! I recently picked up my guitar properly for the first time in a few years and decided to learn this. I had no idea how easy most of it actually was. I managed to play along with about half of it with the tabs first time which surprised even myself. That solo may take a while though, I'm not that fast yet :P haha. But I do love the fast bit right before the solo, so much fun to play that bit :D
Jesus holy mother of god , your absolutely nailed that solo 😭😭😭 that was amazing to watch. How long have you been playing guitar? And how long did you practice this song before making this video? GOOD SHIT BRO 🙌🏻🎸
Crank up the gain lowed down the Mids. You can buy few pedals like distortion booster or over drive, but a good guitarist will be able to get a melting tone out of a shitty solid state :)
What worked for me on my Les paul standard pro. Higher the pickup, and use Amplitube with rocksmith cable to computer or my line 6 spider iv... but w/e You actually want kinda low gain but treble on 10 low bass and mids and hit those strings hard with pref 11 guage or fater...
It is! I also liked to play without my pinky in the beginning often, but if you once trained it it‘s like a weapon. Its the difference between playing guitar with 3 or 4 fingers, makes things alot easier and often cleaner.
swanthewhitepig hey, this is awesome! cheers from neighbouring Slovakia! how many times did you have to re-play the song until this performance was made? I'm really curious
+swanthewhitepig nicely done man. I used to play along with this song a lot about 6 or so years ago when I still had my gear. I played the rhythm though. the only part i had problems with was the breakdown riff before the lead. at that time the tempo was what I had problems with. keeping up with James on rhythm can be difficult if you aren't a pro player like yourself. miss jamming to this song. awesome work man really.
I'VE NEVER SEEN A SOLO SO NAILED
How do you replicate the "Metallica sound" so perfectly!?
down picking and muting
SomeSortaPro he perfect amount of distortion and mids
SomeSortaPro Overlay the original track on your recording and make the original abit louder.
Much of your guitar tone is in your hands and fingers
SomeSortaPro i havent tried any of my other guitars but for my gibson explorer (looks exactly same as james hetfeilds) for my amp i use mid:1.5 gain:8 bass:8.5 and treb:10
Me: This song looks ezi will master it asap
Solo: im gonna stop you right there
Learn James' part then
the solos actually not that hard, i learned it in a couple weeks
@@andrewmarshall1142 how long have you been playing guitar? Cause for an intermediate this solo is kind of tough
@@francoschiappapietra3821 as of now about 3 years
I’ve only played 9 months and I can play the solo so... practice makes perfect
Absolutely nailed the kirk hammet style, especially with the solo! Hats off
TTEEEECCHHHHnically, that solo is the Dave Mustaine style.
Written by Dave mustaine yes, but played in the style of kirk hammett... People can play other musicians songs and put their own style on it...
Wow This is Amazing! Thank you!

We know that is not kirk because the solo is well played
Fun fact: this guy is asian.. check his old videos
He is not kirk look at his fingers kirk has big fingers and his not putting the black nails polish lol im just kidding dude🤣🤣🤣😂

8 years later and this guy is still did the best Metallica covers on the web. Also 8 years later and afaik Gibson still hasn't reissued this SG.
This guy covers Metallica better than anyone I've seen on UA-cam so far. Tone, accuracy, style, musicality...it's all there.
Sounds like the original

woah
Hahahaha!! I laugh cause its true... Lol. Wow...
That's insane. Probably better represented as 6:36 though.

Dude you nailed that!!! Wow, that would make make James proud! NICE
Okay Kirk, we know you have a UA-cam channel..
OMG! You nailed it! My absolute fave Metallica song

Such finesse. I can't wait till I become this good. He has so much tone in his fingers.
why doesn't thus video have more views... you're extremely talented sir
I’m wondering why there is like 150 some dislikes? This was a perfect cover sound for sound and note for note. Blows my mind great video!!!
You get that extra “crunch” with the SG! Love it
Thats one hell of a nice SG! Great cover!
ese solo es el más perfecto que he visto lml increíble tu interpretación
I could barely hear anything at first so I turned up the volume all the way... Deafness well spent.

That made me chuckle
Breaking Bad fan I see
Gotta go fast
Here in brazil we have only the nofap setember, I didn't know about the no nut november
best cover of this song ive ever seen
holy fuck that solo!
How does it feel to be better than Kirk?
Seek&Destroy is from Kill 'em All so that's Dave Mustaine playing the solo ( on the record that is, of course it's Kirk nowdays ) :)
No kirk recorded those solos. Dave wrote them but kirk had to re write them so they were easier to play
Milos Fehir You're an idiot.
not necessarily easier, just more his style. plus kirk's solos on kill em all sounded more complex than mustaine's.
pwee507 no. Kirk covered Dave’s solos to record kill ´em all he didnt rewrote the solos
That solo was scared of you!! Incredible!!!
you did a great job!! i love this song
Very clean, love it!

You are honestly the best
This is year 2020 and a bunch of young people who is way way younger than this song is, that's timeless right there...
damn, the tone sound so good
How can you get that kinda tone out of an SG i have an SG with standard pickups and i can't get a palm mute tone like yours, what is your secret?
Is yours a Gibson or an epiphone
Jonathan Avocado Neither it's a Tokai
***** How is that a problem? Tokai aren't a cheap make from what i've read they actually make better guitars than Epiphone ans sometimes Gibson
Ahh right well the pickups i use are the stock pickups so they are prob the cheapest part of the guitar and prob not very high output
MajorWoodyYT
How can you be so sure Tokai's are shit, also Line 6 Spiders aren't the best amplifiers outthere
You are awesome! I listened to your cover countless times. I send my gratitude from Hungary.
lol and i though i could play this song. silly me.
same :(
well if you're an intermediate guitar player, you can learn a majority of the song.
jacob harmer the first part is actually not that hard. When it speeds up is when it gets difficult
its pretty easy actually
That part where you start downpicking like a fucking monster is impossible for me especially because the B string on my guitar is kinda fucked.
Que perfeição
That solo was perfect. Keep shredding, man
That tone is so perfect!!
You are f*cking awesome playing guitar man!! Very good work, congratulations!
This is insane man! Freaking amazing!!!!
1:04 i like the small change u did there

could you do a cover without the music playing in the background?
Jesus holy mother of god , your absolutely nailed that solo 😭😭😭 that was amazing to watch. How long have you been playing guitar? And how long did you practice this song before making this video? GOOD SHIT BRO 🙌🏻🎸
You fukin decimated this solo nothing left but ashes Dave, Kirk are drooling.
Now I like this song
I have an Epiphone Les Paul, does anyone know what I can buy to make my guitar sound more similar to that Metallica sound?
Crank up the gain lowed down the Mids. You can buy few pedals like distortion booster or over drive, but a good guitarist will be able to get a melting tone out of a shitty solid state :)
Buy a Boss ME 25 (a multi effect pedal)...if you want a better sound, buy a new humbucker (a good one) and replace it with the original one.
you need a guitar with emg 81-60
All gain, full bass and treble, no mids.
Hehe that will do for beginners.
This is motivating me to finish learnimg. So close yet so far to having the fast part at the same tempo as the record.
