Have you ever noticed that in How to Train Your Dragon, they classify the dragons by their behaviors? I think a fun video would be you classifying them the same way biologists classify real animals, by comparing physical traits and trying to fit them together into a family tree.
+dino_gamer123 The world of dragons is too diverse for that. Take for instance a Typhoomerang, a Changewing and a Snaptrapper. They all have a long, flat snout with an underbite, a long neck, relatively flat body, long tails and big wings. However, Unlike Typhoomerangs, Changewings and Snaptrappers have 6 limbs onsthead of 4, and unlike the Changewings, Snaptrappers have 4 heads insthead of just one. It's too hard to take this on an evolutionary level so that it would be easier and better to differenciate them by their abilities(wich is helpful for first encounters) rather than biologically, wich won't help u much...
If you read the how to train your dragon books by cadesa cowell ( I can’t spell her name) you will see that at the back of every dragon’s throat there is a “FIRE HOLE” that produces the fire.so I suppose the singetail has multiple fire holes
If you read book 1 of Cassandra Cowell’s book series, “How to Train Your Dragon”, you find that dragons have a two-holed gland in the middle or top of their throat. This gland supplies the flame. So, u r probably correct in that the Singetail has more than one set of glands. As for setting the fire itself, if you look closely, in I believe the first few episodes of Race to the Edge, when Toothless charges up his blast but doesn’t shoot, you see a small amount of gas form in his mouth that is similar to the gas of a Hideous Zippleback. This is also the same with the Red Death in the first movie. Right before Toothless blasts the inside of its mouth, the Red Death is about to blast first. You see a small green cloud of gas form in its mouth. So, I think that perhaps something in many dragons’ mouths form this gas, while the glands ignite it, making the dragon capeable of shooting the blast, rather than its mouth set on fire.
If that is how it works, then how does the Dramillion work? All they have to do is just see what a dragon can do then they mimic the dragon. Does it have multiple glands that they can’t use until they see it or are they magical?
I've always been a nerd when it came to Dragonology. In the book I read (Not a HTTYD book, just a book called Dragonology), it told how most dragons how dragons breath fire. They did it because of a combination of a venom gland and a spark pouch. I'd say more, but I did sort of forget a lot of the book ^^;
Since we don`t know how Dragons create these missile-like projectiles maybe they need an organ to change the "usual" flames to a projectile. In that case the singetail might actually have one gasdeposit in the center of his body and these organs at his mouth and tail (so he can shoot projectiles from there). That would also explain his big underbelly (becuase it contains the gas). Then the flames coming from his underbelly would basically be released gas, set on fire.
I think the zipplebacks would be a great example of how the firebreathing mechanics work, just at a slower rate. one head releases the flammable gas from a gland and the other has the ignition. For the other dragons, its just a quicker process and they have the ignition closer to the outside of the mouth. They make a comment multiple times that 'dragon arent as fireproof on the inside' so instead of it being round the throat like the gland, its most likely round the back of the tongue. I watched the zippleback introduction and could see that the sparks (which arent long lived) just barely leave the mouth and their tongue twitched to create them, hinting that the contraction of it helps create them.
I have my own theory... Well for the red death I do... When seen the Red Death's flame is an extremely powerful flame seen in some other places, its normally direct so it could be some sort of gas being launched and immediately being set to a flame,As seen in the scene when the red earth and toothless were dive bombing towards the ground, inside the mouth of the Red death showed a Hideous zipple back like gas accumulating in his mouth, ill say more, more proof it's gas:When toothless shot the gas it became a flame and stayed in the mouth for quite a bit so the Red DeAths flame making gland must be related to the hideous zippleBack gland or way to shoot fire, just more direct.
+Samuel Walpole They probably just have shiny scales. If they would really be metal, then not only would it rust each time it rains or the dragon drinks water, but also it would be the main prey of Sword Stealers, Armorwings and Smothering Smokebreaths.
Idk if you still make new videos discussing dragon biology but I think it’d be cool to look more in depth about how dragons breathe fire and what in their diet gives them the compounds needed to produce their respective fire catalyst. Like maybe Deadly Nadders eat food that are high in magnesium and then have some sort of biological process that concentrates magnesium and suspends it in mucus to be launched as fire breath
I actually looked into this _just a bit_ in regards to the Deadly Nadder not long ago. It turns out that (some) fish actually are some of the best dietary sources of magnesium! As for things like the Monstrous Nightmare's "kerosene gel" or the Night (and Light) Fury's oxy-acetylene... _whatever,_ though, I have no idea.
Ok so I was looking through the comments in your other videos about the nightfuries (which are great by the way) and I saw a comment that was really interesting. Some one was talking about a theory to why there was only one night fury around berk.. Another replied back saying it described the plot line from Kung Fu Panda 2 on Po's backstory... WHAT IF THAT WAS THE SAME FOR TOOTHLESS? Please look into this tim thanks. I mean it would make a lot of sense to (maybe if u take away the reason to why Shen destroyed the village) lol I may have commented a lot hehe opps... I'm a fan
The red death "threatened" all the dragons.. It used fear to controll them. Because if they didn't obey welp.. He would eat them. Shown through the scene when hiccup and Astrid find the dragon nest and the red death at the small gronkle because he wanted larger animals to eat. 👍
Your videos never fail to impress. I do my best to study Dragon's as well. The only difference is that the Dragon's I study are the standard European Dragon's. The 4 legs and 2 wings has always interested me. So you could say I am an un unlicensed Dragonologist. Your video's help me out even though the Dragon's from how to train your Dragon are different. I like it a lot. Good job man.
im a bit late but I've been waiting so long for this video. my theory is that all the attacks are made of kerosene but just used differently by each gland, the jet of fire is sprayed out from gland A while the fire balls are more concentrated so the kerosene is just pushed out instead of sprayed out by gland B so it has 2 different types of attack glands. and ALL HAIL MISHKA!
pretty easy in my book. Dragons eat food and it turns from Kinetic energy to kinetic/ heat energy and then the dragons shoot the fire due to it using the left over or some of the energy they get to breath fire, hence their fire limit as well.
My theory is that drgaons use some kind of gas like zipplebacks. Except that it happens inside their body. So they have two special bones (we can also call them teeth) that rub each other, igniting the gas. We can see provements of this from some scenes with Toothless who has some weird green gas in his mouth when he' getting ready to shoot (if I remember well the red death does it as well). And where do they get this gas? Well, I doubt that they produce it differently like snakes do it with their venom, so I think their stomach produces much more of *that* kind of gas that usually leaves the body on the other end, I you know what I'm talking about. They must have a bag that collects it.
I like the comment from Sebastian but I know the answer to that. What I am wandering is when toothless went blue and glowing he was a Titan wing dragon but then it went away dose this mean that toothless has always been a Titan wing and that is the reason why he is the last one because of his power and the reason we have never seen this happen is because it only happens when he is really aggressive or protective as this only happens after he saves hiccup from the ice Blast. Also did we get an Easter egg to this in fright of passage when toothless eats the glowing algae he glows blue
This is a great video. I love the Singetail. For your next video can you pleas talk about the change in Toothless at the end of HTTYD2 when he fights the Alpha. How did he blast out of the ice. His shot count goes out the window the scales on his back glow blue. How did that change happen. Pleas do a video on this Tim. All hail Mishka.
Nightmares have multiple glands one large one for the flames from their mouths and lots of small ones in their skin which coats them in gel to create the fire jacket
So Tim this is aslo about Krogan's role for the next season on netflix.. Ok so this may seem absurd but what if Krogan was Heather and Dagur's Father!? I remember a scene (after krogan had taken hiccup, threwa knife at Ryker than disappeared) the gang was riding home and Stoick appeared to be in deep thought like he had seen krogan before and was trying to remember him... I mean maybe it could happen?

Monstrous nightmares are a better comparison. ...When I'm thinking about how the biology of all dragons work. Thinking about their fire it seems like they can't really control it. That's what I thought when I saw this episode

+HelloFutureMe there is a none series documentary that partially explains how MAYBE dragons can fly and breath fire you can find it on youtube.
Toothless I think has two kinds of blasting first the plasma blast but remember in the first movie when toothless heats up the ground
Hello Future Me Could you please make a video on titanwings? Like the monstrous nightmare we see in race to the edge and how they become titanwings? Thanks :D P.s I love your videos

research poison fire beetle or something like that you know what research things in dragons found in nature😥
2 views and 4 likes DAME UA-cam I LOVE U LOL
Hey, it's only been like 12 minutes sense this came out
Syd Moore. Since*
Syd Moore I was here super early 1st actually and I say 2 views and 3 likes well me 4
There's actually a Documentary on dragons... I found it on UA-cam as Dragons: a Fantasy made Real.
not sure it's real or not but even for a fake or fantasy documentary it makes a lot of sense and has a lit of Good Points...
moraima Torres I have seen it before it’s good well I think it’s good because I have watched it 2 times ;-;
I've lady a rumble horn vs a monstrous nightmare that's the bn10 Dragon fight in a video I'm sorry about the 10 I actually like that
I think the fire from the pits is a pressurized gas. Sort of similar to barf and belches
I have a question for you to solve. Why and how (as shown in the first ever episode of riders of berk) are dragon droppings explosive and why (as shown in rhe buffalord soldier episode) aren't a buffalord's droppings explosive?
Hello Future Me, I want to see you do a video about speed stingers. They're the only known dragon that can't fly, and, for the pack in season 1 episode 12, have webbed feet and can go on water
You happen to have done a video about the Skrill?
If you haven't already read Wings of Fire, could you read it and make some theories? Like on the Rainwings having Poisen glands like snakes, but can spray it? And why only a close relative can counteract the Poisen with it's own?
That whole episode the Singetail was basically "F***K YOU I"M OP"
can you make a video on toothless ability to fire these plasma"bullets"
1:55 "diggily nadders"
WE WANT MORE!!!!!
Dragons actually release a gas in there mouth it's noticeable withe toothless or the red death in the first film
it can shoot fire from the beginning of its tail on the bottom side
you forgot that it can shoot fire out of its butt as well, at least I think, because Krogans singetail blasted away with a fire, I think it came out of its butt
How do dramillions work then? How many glands do they have or can they change the gas on a molecular level
I love it thanks for do the video
could you view the biology of the Changewing because I have been struggling to make a theory on it's skin, hypnotising and acid (Mostly on the former and latter, less on the middle)
can we also adress one thing i find ood wich is the fact while dragons can breathe fire it can easly backfired if another dragon breaths fire back in there mouth befoure hand wich currently it dont make sence to me at this time
2:40 what about the germilien
Can you do shadow wing and triple wing or legendary !!!! Foreverwing vs green death
Do one for Darmilian
Razorwhips are my favorite dragon
Hey future me do a video on how the glow wing glows
Can you do a video on the hideous zippleback
So then, why did the singetail want/need that island so much
Well it's actually pretty clear in the books that nobody knows about
Single tails are definitely partly based on Chameleons, ahem, independent eyes and 360 degree vision.
More please!
I WANT MORE
i got this dragon in school of dragons and named it "NIPPLEFLAME"
Doesn't the cloud cutter shoot long twisting columns of flames?
Comment at exactly one hour after this video was uploaded.
spitelout's dragon is called kingstail
I read that singe tails could set their wings on fire a well
Can you talk about the Sand Wraith
how do speed stingers have poison tail stingers and what could have cause them to get them
Just as I thought it was because of the release of the gase
Hey Tim why are razorwhip scales made out of metal
And bewilderbeast vs screaming death
true story, me and my brother love your videos and the moment we heard you say " it can shot fire out of it's nipples." I laughed my but off while my brother, who is 6 years old, went into the living room and shouted "I CAN SHOOT FİRE OUT OF MY NIPPS!!!!" which got me laughing eve harder….
more this was cool
Hello Future Me are you waiting for dragons 3 and if you are what do you think it will be about?
How can the Dramillions use almost every dragon attack/blast
