Great commercial, must have worked, because F350s and F250s were ubiquitous in the '80s, '90's, and even early 2000s with ambulance services, Country Fire Services/Authorities, tow truck companies, amongst others. Toyota Landcruisers were great too, but for different applications because they didn't have the load/tow capacity of the F350. They were more comparable to F100 4WDs. The childish little spats between Toyota aficionados and others is just that, childish.
What is so ironic about your comment, is that the ad is so childish in its comparison of the LandCruiser v the Ford, And, where are all these Toyota comments that you talk about? It seems that the only hangup is with you. Nobody else cares.
Those early Landcruisers were really gutless. I worked for a CAT dealer and we took a CAT transmission (very heavy item) to a minesite to be installed . Carrying it in our grossly overloaded F100 we were still passing the (unladen) Mining Company's Landcruisers while driving up a hill on the haul road.

@@timhinchcliffe5372 you said F trucks were worked to death while people who bought land cruisers didn't. Do you have any proof to support that or no? Simple question.
I've never had a F Series fail. I have had several land cruisers give up due to a lack of power, serious part failure and small damage causing huge failure. If you have a big job to do, get a Ford. Playing golf, Bingo or bowls, go the Toyota.
That sounds like neglected maintenance. Also landcruiser 40 is pretty much less reliable than everything else in toyota range. Also lack of power failiure is BS, so you must be expecting way too much out of light toyotas.

Toyota is still much better than ford. Toyotas are far more reliable and hold value longer. The only line of vehicles worth looking at from Ford is there trucks.
Like I said Ford trucks are good but any other Ford Vehicle that's not a truck from ford is junk. Toyota has earned there reputation for reliability for years and all vehicles from Toyota rarely break down or give problems as much as Ford. Toyota vehicles also maintain their value a lot longer than Ford.
Amm, Ford cars are reliable too, my dad had a '78 Falcon, it got rammed by 2 Peugeots (which literally didn't even scratched it, and ended up both destroyed), it ran a hundred miles or more every day, cause we lived in the field and my dad's work had him constantly on road trips on the Falcon. An 80s model truck will have no problem carrying a barely 1000 pound land cruiser. If it was a jeep CJ, Early model patrol, Or anything small around that timeline will of course be carried by heavy duty truck. But take a heavy 80 series, wagoneer or the same truck onto the bed, and it might struggle
HighLux Toyota's 1.5 tonne; that's 1500kg, for you....about 3300lbs, not "barely 1000 pound". An 80 series is up around 2500kg (that's 5500lbs for you). An early '80s F350 has a GVM of 4500kg, so your 80 Series Landcruiser, although officially too heavy for the Ford by 300kg would still prove to be no problem. I've seen plenty of tradies carry 3 tonnes (that's 3000kg, son) in their F100s! Sure, axle bearings wear out quicker than usual, but the vehicles hold together. What's with all these Toyota guys? Can't get over the fact that other marques can build tough 4WDs too, I guess.
