Amendments - When 3.18 is released, there will be a few slight differences from what I've shown in the video. Pressing G will cycle between Gimbal and Fixed, and HOLDING G will switch to Manual gimbals. Also requesting landing and take off will have a Default keybind. I believe the Equip Helmet shortcut will be on the Radial Menu too. I will try to keep this updated.

3.18 is live, there are a few slight differences from what I've shown in the video. Pressing G will cycle between Gimbal and Fixed, and HOLDING G will switch to Manual gimbals. Also requesting landing and take off will have a Default keybind now (Left Alt+N). The helmet shortcut is renamed. Your ships aren't automatically stored in your home Station now and require a 20 second Delivery (From the Database to your location storage) before retrieval. PASSENGER BED LOGGING is disabled temporarily as it had conflicts with new features in 3.18.
Is there a way to adjust the ROLL SPEED in controls? IMHO it is way, way too fast.
@@whatsupdocchemdog5994 with keyboard no I don't think so. It's either full or off unless you use a Controller/Sticks
@@mostlyshenanigans I am using a joystick but whenever I roll it's just one speed.
@@whatsupdocchemdog5994 might need to adjust the sensitivity curves in settings, other than that I don't have much experience with sticks yet
@@mostlyshenanigans My first using dual sticks in any game but then again I don't play games, star citizen is my first game in years. I will give it a try thanks.
Thank you! This is the best beginners guide I have found. You answered a ton of "Why isnt this working" and "How the hell do i do this" that I have been having on my first week of the game.
Happy it's helped you out! I hope 3.18 hasn't been too bumpy for your first week.
Ive watched numerous vids on beginning star citizen, im only 8 minutes in but this is turning out to be the best yet, you earned my thanks and subscription. How do you only have 120 subs? crazy. Thank you for making this.
I really appreciate the comment! I'll work on the Sub count :)
Ikrr!!
@@mostlyshenanigans I subscribed! Comment/ Request: for noobs (me) you were going to fast at Microtech. How did you know to turn right or left or go down the escalator? Otherwise thanks for an awesome training video!
@@bclarg3248 just from experience. Usually there's signage around to help you find your way as well.
@@mostlyshenanigans Now that I've signed up and explored New Babbage, I agree. Now if I could just get the game to retrieve my new ship for me! (the last upgrade/ wipe added a "ghost" ship to my profile which the game engine does not like!).
Wow, very high quality Beginner guide! From the production quality, time stamps and chapters, very well done!
I'm new to Star Citizen, but have watched many videos to learn as much as I can. This was very concise and thorough for the content presented. This video should make it very easy for anyone to jump in and get their feet wet!
Thank you for making this! Looking forward to Pt. 2!
Thanks! The plan was indeed to try to make it as straight forward as possible. It's easy to get confused with the amount of info there is to learn in one hit.
Very well done! Just started last night. Should have watched this before I wondered around the space port for 40 mins looking for my ship lol. I logged out once I couldn't figure out how to leave the hanger. Great clear video. Much appreciated
Glad to help out!
Having just started the game I wish I had watched this earlier. Really clean and concise.
Hope it helped!
Will need it at wipe
I just started playing. Played for about 30min, exploring Area 18, am very impressed with the size of the city. I made it to the star port, but was unsure how to continue, so I thought it was time to look for a beginners guide. This video was the first one I checked out. Very well done. Now to go get my ship, and maybe watch this video a few more times. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
Thank you for commenting, and hope it helps out!

Thank you for your great work. I'm 63, I was panicking about getting this game.
Thanks to you all I did. So far, slowly, it's been great,
Only crashed once. Keep up the great work guys
Enjoy the Journey my friend!
Hey, are you still enjoying it?
Will be when the server fires are put out.
I'm Sixty-something as well! I loved Freelancer so I am seriously watching beginner videos to help me avoid mistakes and enjoy the game.
@bclarg It's a cool game with great player support. I'll sit here read up and wait for the 3.19 full wipe. Hopefully soon. Enjoy
Best tutorial video on SC I have seen so far. Thank you skynet.
I honestly expected at least 2 more zeroes on your sub count, considering the quality and effort that went into this video. Looking forward to more!
Appreciate the kind words. We'll get there :)
New Player looking forward to re-enacting this exact moment (4:33) Amazing!!! Thanks for the guide had no idea what to do as a new player!!
Haha, hope you find all the info helpful!
I love watching all new content. This is an extremely high-quality tutorial. I have been around since 2013 and I have never seen anyone do such a great starter guide. I believe that is because it is done as a tutorial rather than a guide. Great job.
Thank you. Greatly appreciate the compliment!
I’ve watched a lot of beginner videos. Most alright. Some good. This is by far the best and the one I’ll have open on my iPad when flying after work today. Thank you very very much man.
thank you, more than happy to help out!
Just started SC and this is the best beginners guide I have watched so far. I took many notes and now have a plan moving forward. Thank you!
Happy to help. Hopefully you don't encounter too many bugs. Current patch is still pretty wonky
If you're looking at getting in to the game or know someone who is, these basics will help you get started and earn some coin. I'll have some more videos covering other mission types soon, so stay tuned and enjoy the ride!
pay to win or not pay to win?
@@JohnHandle- it's a sandbox. There isn't really a "Win" condition.
If you mean dog fighting, the Fighters are available to buy in game.
great word dude
Just used this guide in its entirety to get started in Star Citizen. I couldn't find any available Beacon missions so I accepted an Illegal Monitoring mission to destroy ships illegally scanning in controlled spaces. I failed to do it in time but it's a good way to get some ship combat similar to the Beacon missions. It would've been a complete pain in the ass to try to figure everything out without this video. I'm excited to try out the rest of the missions and see what's out there, thanks for the guide!
Glad you found it helpful! I have guides coming for other types of gameplay, but need to wait for patch 3.18 as lots of things are changing.
Outstanding! The information here is great with no detail spared! I've always had an issue with missiles and you've explained it well. Thanks
Happy to help out.
Best starter guide I've seen. My new recommendation for new players.
Thanks :)
Nrw player here, only now starting to play this after buying it 10 years ago.
Fantastic guide, best I've seen yet.. earned a subscriber 👍.
Thank you!
DG360 sent me here. Awesome video and that intro. Hopefully, we will get more signage in the new landing zones to make navigation easier for new players.
Thanks! And Yeah I imagine they'll have learned from what they have so far. If not, I'll make another landing zone vid if need be.
This is so good I am actually commenting for the first time ever. Clear. Concise. And the production quality is outstanding. Well done.
Thank you very much! Greatly appreciate the kind words
I'm impressed with the quality of production. Music rhythm, info and explanation are on point. Thank you! Keep up the good work.
Thanks mate!
super comprehensive guide! its such a pain having to google every single key to do basic stuff but its all in this guide
Glad you found it helpful
Well done! I especially like your use of the keyboard graphic when explaining keybinds.
Thanks! That was actually the most difficult part of the video.
started the game for the very first time, watched a few video's but mama mia, yours is a godsend!
I don't easlily like and subscribe, but you deserved both! looking forward to explore this universe
thank you very much, glad to have you in the verse! Hope the guide smooths out the learning curve for you.
Criminally underrated channel, fantastic tutorial and a joy to watch throughout. Good Job
Thanks for the compliment.
Awesome video! Great breakdown! I’m very new to Star Citizen, a whole Noob! I watch this video many times and I still go through this video. Today, I have successfully lifted off and landed by watching your video! Thank you so much! ❤
Glad it helped you! Also happy you've been even able to play considering the issues with the 3.18 launch. Lucky!
To be honest, I didn’t play too much. Too many issues was going on. LoL. But I kept tryin to get in and for me each time I logged in, it got better.
@@michellemichaud4916 yeah it's been such a rough patch launch this time. The newer patches been tested at the moment look promising so far.
This was a very slick vid, I've seen many newbie guides but I think this might be the best one yet ^^
Thank you Roball!
Definitely the tutorial I was looking for. Thanks for the hard work!
Happy to help out! Thank you.
First time playing since like late 2016. It's a whole different game now, thanks for the guide.
Yeah it's progressing a bit.
Thank you so much for such a great guide man. This game and others like it are all I’ve ever truly wanted out of video games, a vast open universe to go where you please, ship and player combat, and your very own personal starship that you get to turn all the buttons and dials on yourself to fly. I spent most of my lunch break today just trying to figure out how to find the spaceport on area 18, and I doubt my experience would be as smooth if I hadn’t watched ur video. Cheers mate, thanks again
No problems! I also have a video up to help find those space ports!
@@mostlyshenanigans I’ll definitely make sure to check you out for anything else I might need
You are a goddamn saint sir! Finally a video the is right to the point and entertaining as hell. Video editing skills on point too! I sun to almost no one but you had mine within the first five minutes of video!
Thanks very much Robert for the Sub and Comment. Glad you enjoyed it!
This is perfect. I'm gonna have this running on the side when I first load in
Hope it helps you find your way! The mission at the end may not always be available, but if you need it they pop up at random.
I'm norminally not a fan of TTS, but you edited it perfectly in your vids, good job!
Actually one of the most informative tutorials I’ve watched. Thanks especially for all the helpful quality-of-life tips!
You're welcome
I've never watched a utube video this beautifully done, i was very captivated through the whole video, the explanation, the different plan of view, the humor, everything is on point, i loved it... Magnifique !!!
Ps: sorry for the faults, I'm french and currently learning English
:) Thank you! And your english is quite good!
Thank buddy, me as Elite Dangerous (which has complex controls too) i was lost in Star Citizen. Thanks to your video for helping me ;)
No worries!
Great starter guide! Just sent this to friends who recently started playing and will be my go to link to send to other new people starting out. Can't wait to see more in this series. Bonus points for mentioning the referral randomizer. Most content creators push their own code even when they have so many referrals that they no longer get any rewards. Shows you are putting the community first.
Thank you! Glad it's been helpful so far. And I agree that some creators push the referral code a bit too much. The community has been pretty good for SC, so I'm happy to support it.
I stopped playing the game for about 6 months and wanted a refresher. Luckily this was the first video I clicked on. Such a good, clean cut tutorial. When I first started playing I watched dozens and dozens of videos. I wish this one existed back then 😍 keep up the good work!
Thanks! Glad you found it helpful. Unfortunately it won't be long before things are changed and Ill have to make an update for it anyway
@@mostlyshenanigans well, I’ll be coming back for your update when that happens 😂🔥 happy holidays!
Best new pilot guide I've seen so far, well done!
Thank you!
Beautifully done, and is precisely what I needed. I'm VERY new to Star Citizen and this video was immensely helpful. I look forward to future installments.
Glad to have helped
Many good tutorials out there but this, by far, has been the best! Just the right amount of information to get someone into space and flying missions without being overwhelming. Thank you!
Thank you, and happy to help.
Very, very well made guide! Thanks for sharing this with the community!
Thank you for Watching and commenting.
Looking forward to part 2, very well produced!
Thank you.
May I commend you on making this awesome tutorial video. I love the camerawork, music and the overall pace is just perfect. You deserve more views/subscribers!
Thank you very much. Greatly appreciated!
The editing fascinates me, you really know how to turn a long tutorial into a really fun and entertaining to watch video through editing and background music. Well done man I'm subbing cuz I don't wanna miss out your videos .
Thank you, appreciate it! As soon as the game servers stabilise I can get back to working on more videos :)
Just an absolutely perfect intro into star citizen and how to play it 👍
glad you enjoyed it!
This is perfection. Awesome guide!
Glad you think so!
Great Vids.... many thanx. I purchased SC back in 2016... never had a chance to get it up and running. Giving it a go now with your assist from your vids.
Thanks TiGGer Dave, I hope it helps out. A lot has changed since 2016.
Thank you for the video. Very helpful, especially the additional websites listed.
You're welcome. :)
Great video, i like how easy you made everything to understand
Thanks! That was indeed the main focus. It can quickly become confusing
Awesome video man! It's helped me out a lot. I've just started this game since building my p.c.
Thanks, and Welcome to the verse. Hopefully no too buggy for you. IAE usually causes a few issues on the servers
Wow very high quality production mate!
Thank you Sir
Ah cool, now I know how to get into the fast menu by holding the "F" key and right clicking the mouse, had I known that I wouldn't have died by forgetting my helmet in space... ah well, now I know because of your video so thanks a lot for sharing this.
It happens to all of us I think, haha
Very well done video! Been playing for a few hours and this taught me a lot
Happy to help out! Thank you.
Looking for part 2. This is gold
Part 2 is in the works, as well as a few other vids. 👍
Best one.. I've seen so far. Thanks
You're welcome, and thank you.
Just joined Star Citizen and wish I had seen your video previously. Subscribing with the hope that you will make more videos like this. Thank you.
I will be adding a few more covering other types of gameplay very soon.
congratulations for your nice edition touch !
This is a great video! Keep it up!
Thank you! Will do!
Top notch editing and tutorial
Thank you Bobbeh.
Space Truckers was Han Solo's next movie! Cargo Movers are Essential in the future also! 😆
Wow! What an amazing video! Thank you!!

Awesome tutorial video!
Thank you!
Great and clear. Well done.
Thanks
Thanks, this is a great tutorial, really helped me!
Happy to help out
Really well done video!
Thanks
Excellent guide!
Thanks!
This game seems complicated to start with, so I'm a little fearful, but guides like this help me to be less fearful and I think I will try it soon! Thanks!
There sure is a lot to learn, but the good thing is you can get away with the basics until you want to start with any advanced stuff. Don't forget There's a free fly event on right now. You can try the game for free
a really helpful video, thank you very much
Glad it helped!
Great job, thank you.
This is exactly what I need I got the game last night fortune shines on your future brother
Glad to be of assistance! And I do hope so ;)
Awesome video 🎉

Happy to help out
Molto utili i tuoi consigli, grazie!

Very nice introduction.

No problems!
Good starting guide... Thanks... 🙂
You're welcome! And thank you.
Sub'd in 5 min in. Very good 👍
Welcome! Thank you.
the best tool to help berginners like me, thanks a lot for it.
You're welcome
I would like a part 2 on how to join a clan, what type of mission they are, things like that. This one is already badass but i feel like it doesnt cover everything. +I really apriciate your work, im french and i understood everything really easely and i dont know if had stay with this game without you and this video, but now i want to learn and im gonna program my razer keypad for it
@@Deimos_Eris thanks again. I do have more parts coming. And that's a good idea to add to a guide.
I've been recording parts for the next couple of videos, but 3.18 has been a bumpy ride and I've been working more hours. But I'll get there soon
Thanks for the tips this will help i am new to the game
Glad to help out
great video thank you
Thanks. Great name lol
big thumbs up!
great job!!!!
Thanks
learned a few things i did not know thanks
Glad to be of assistance.
I bought this game back in 2017 cant wait to jump back in
Welcome back! There's a heap of additions since 2017 that make it a lot more playable than it was. 3.18 is shaking the servers up at the moment though.
very good video thanks will watch it few more times lol it took me 8 attempts to make it to dream station
Happy to help out. Shopping trip in Dream Station I assume?
Just started, used this guide, and was super easy to play even with the update! Thank you for making this! My only complaint is that I just wish you added your referral code toward the beginning of the video, or having it slightly transparent on one of the corners of the video screen since I skipped around a lot to follow the guide.
Thanks. I will consider that in future.
Awesome video man! Very helpful. If you don’t mind me asking what’s specs are you running for star citizen, you gameplay looks amazing and smooth
Using a laptop with Mobile rtx 3080, Intel 11800h and Gen 4 NVMe. On certain servers at certain times it can still be pretty Janky. Got some new hardware coming though so it should look even better soon!
@@mostlyshenanigans Thanks for the reply! Looking forward to your future videos
Dude, loved the video!!! I'd want to know how you made such nice captions within the video (like when you mark the avenger titan with it's info on the side of the ship's hull --> 6:30, or when the name of the aspire grand appears on the building), It's a very high end style!!! very cool that you can edit like that. i want to learn that too!!!!
Thank you Ricardo. For those I used 3d Camera tracking in Adobe After effects.
@@mostlyshenanigans Thank you!!!
so good video
Wow, thank you for such a clear and concise beginner guide. I'm still trying to decide if I should take the plunge and become a citizen? It just seems overwhelming but after watching your tutorial it's making it much easier to decide. If I'm going to buy this game should I wait until patch 3.18 is released?
You're welcome. And at the moment yeah I would probably wait for 3.18 as everything will be wiped and it'll be a fresh start anyways.
im very nervous to get started because everything felt so complicated from videos i saw. This video showed me its not that crazy, still nervous tho. this video might get 1m views from me watching over and over for the next week. nice video
😅 if you just learn one part of the game at a time it's not so bad.
This was a LOT of info to take in... will need to rewatch a few times to make it stick haha but nice guide!
Thanks! Luckily the game lets to do everything at your own pace pretty much. At least until you are shooting something 😅
Hi, amazing guide, as a totally new player, its really good to have a learning curve, what to do. However, will there be a part 2? :)
Yeah there will be part 2. I've just been keeping an eye on the 3.18 patch because some of the guide might change right after I make the video
@@mostlyshenanigans Take your time, it started crashing yesterday :(
@@petrvoska7724 doh
Thank you for putting this guide together! Very entertaining and insightful. I just started out in Area 18, but all of the NPC are either laying down, 30+ grouped together on some inaccessible core-looking thing within the station, or standing up on all of the seats. Do you or anyone know why this is? Your video showed folks walking and carrying on about their business normally.
You're welcome and thanks! I think that's a recent bug with the NPC behaviour due to changes in one of the latest patches.
@@mostlyshenanigans thanks for the reply! I think I watch your video around 11 times so far. The beginning coffee ready face expression scene cracks me up, and the elevator pop locking are perfect additions
Foip is such a good tool 😄the elevator dance took longer to edit than I'd like to admit ...
