You expressed similar sentiment towards the Spectacular and I agree… and yes there is increasing consumer resistance with the like of these and Diageo special releases as well… growing whiskers in glass tombs. Cheers 🥃
yeah and i think they all got cocky and to be honest cynical as fuck with huge demand in china/asia but when the economy takes a giant dick to the face - those real fans are the ones that actually buy not chequebook fancy pants 'whisky drinkers' that just show brand vs substance.
I'm waiting for you to get a hands on the 3rd iteration, Beithir's Tale 15yo... with their standard marketing fluff... "special custom air dried charred casks." Haha! Thank you for the Blink-182 reference 😂😂😂
I didn’t mind this Ardbeg but I absolutely wanted it to be a higher ABV and it’s not spectacular by any measure. I have the same issues. I admit I love some Ardbeg expressions but the gimmicks and special releases often drive me insane! I do buy some but I wish I had terrific experiences! Sometimes I do!! Then I fall in love with Ardbeg all over again! Yup no acclimation!! I am wholly in agreement with your nosing and tasting notes! You know for a 14 yo I agree. This Ardbeg isn’t too overpriced. It’s about the same in Vancouver! Cheers!!
yeah the thing that annoys me is that ardbeg is truly unique and that in itself is worth something. I just can't help but compared to the quality before but i suppose in time you forget the recent past and maybe get used to the newer stuff or what i heard is that they are struggling to sell these 'new releases' and maybe going - maybe we shouldn't keep f cking the consumer after all lol let us all hope
I’m kind of amazed that the An Oa which is almost never on our shelves, isn’t moving. It is a core part of the Ardbeg lineup but people are tired of gimmicks and bean counting and they are passing on Ardbeg when they wouldn’t have before. I find Ardbeg’s direction (LVMH) concerning.
yeah, the move is 'all about the cash' and at some point that may backfire. but it may pay off. let us hope it backfires and they see some sense. TBH Glenmorangie is releasing some stupid shit too
Couldn't have said it better. This feels like and is a sellout. At those prices it should be cask strength or be properly curated for a strength that best represents all that ardbeg can be.
yeah, i don't know why they are so cynical. CS, even put the price up a lil bit but it is expensive enough. This is what happens when most of your budget goes to marketing f ck heads instead of the whisky fancy labels, boxes, stands at duty free
For $250 it should be cask strength.
Cannoot disagree~!!
should be a few abvs up at least! such wasted potential
seems to be the theme of ardbeg as of late
@@eatsmokedrinkAbsolutely.
At CS this Ardbeg would be much better.

@@eatsmokedrink Yes Glenmorangie is also a huge disappointment and has been for some time.
@@christinecamley Glemorangie has become the most 'mcdonalds' o f whisky, i would even say it has become worse than, in some ways, glenfiddich.
