I just got one of these tractors. I love it! The Intellipower feature is excellent when you get in thick grass. The tight turning radius is excellent for getting around obstacles. This machine replaced a 15yr old John Deere that was tired but still running. This machine cuts better than the Deere did brand new. Much better turning radius, much better cut height adjustment. The Deere had a V twin engine and this machine seems to pull just as hard with one cylinder thanks to the Intellipower feature. It's easier on gas too.
No disrespect but I don't think you're comparing apples to apples. You should have checked out the new John Deere's. Don't fix anything that's not broke, if it's still trucking after 15 years. My money would have went to the new John Deere
Never ever b cylinders. 2 cylinders give balance. One shakes the engine not only causing bolts to vibrate and fun to find afterwards and it vibrates the Machine and the drivers. MTD builds 75% off lawn/ garden tractors. All junk. I'm looking for a new tractor and can't find any that are built to last. They are built to fail, and so is any cell phone. Even John Deere has a plastic transmission on one of their products, which is experiencing failure which was reported inless than 20 hours. I wouldn't buy any tractor with a B&S, Kohler, I hear Kawasaki is promising.
I just bought this model cub cadet last week and used it one time,, , I really like it alot,,, cuts very very well, and I have a slanted yard, bottom part is steep as well..But it did very good job cutting it,...It did not slow down well going thru some moist areas around my shed ...is always wet there daily,, is a creek in my woods by my shed, that I mow weekly...did a great good...thank you for the video there...I was confused on how to use the reverse on it,,wasnt sure how to engage it, to get it to work and all...but now I see here how to turn key back one notch, then hit the triagle til it turns red...Great video, thank you much........!!!
I just bought one that hasn't been delivered yet. I did extensive research on all 42" mowers and settled on this one. The videos and reviews simply confirm that I made the right choice.
I have a John Deere and every mowing season I spend a couple hundred dollars getting it fixed. Main problem is the belts. I'm not the only one. My friends and son have the same issues. Everyone I know tells me to buy a Cub Cadet. After watching this video, I am convinced. Thank you...you were great and funny at explaining everything. I'm a senior woman and mow a little over an acre. Okay, off I go to buy a new Cub Cadet XL46 Enduro!
I got the 2019 XT1 last year primarily to plow snow but it's awesome cutting the lawn. Tip....To use the washout port properly lower the mowing deck all the way down to the ground! Nice video!
I also have the 2020 model XT1 42" Enduro and it is really a nice mower. The turning radius is so nice that I couldn't justify another $1000 for a zero radius mower. Yes, I would have liked having one, but I am married. Need I say more? Like you mentioned, the mower has stiff springs under the seat, but I think they will get more comfortable as the mower is used each week. The faster you mow, the more noticeable the stiffness in the ride. Ride 'em cowboy!

I've had my mower 12 years and never done that once. Changes blades 3 times and sharpened 3 times. I clean out with a plastic scraper and a brush. No rust anywhere under there. I rinse off the top once a year. It still runs and looks like new.
Great job. I just bought this a few days ago and am going to try it very soon. This video gave me a lot of info on EXACTLY HOW TO USE IT ! thanks, Dan from Gallatin, Tennessee .
Senior lady here. I've had my 42" Cub Cadet for a couple of years. Wish I'd been more UA-cam savvy when I bought the mower. Not much of a reader so your video 'walked' me thru some things I didn't realize. My problem is the belt keeps coming off lately! Daughter was here and showed me how to simply put it back on the spindle. BUT, the whole one side is off now! Not sure why it keeps coming off and would appreciate knowing what I should readjust or whatever to keep the belt in place.
Hi Kma! Firstly, thanks for the comment. Secondly, over time, belts get worn and stretched. I will almost guarantee that you belt is worn, and a replacement is pretty cheap. That said, one way to prevent that from happening is to come to a complete stop before engaging the blades as this puts more strain on the belts.
@@ToolReviewZone I admit I'm a little rough on it! I'll do my best with a complete stop in the future. Friend get down and sure enough, the belt is almost to the point it needs to be replaced. Thanks.
@Tool Review Zone: Hey, have 3 important questions for you: 1) The new cub cadet mower has the "cub cadet" engine instead of the old reliable Kohler engines it had before. Any information regarding this would be greatly appreciated. 2) The newer cub cadet mower's have the TL200 transmission's which are bad and they had something else before. Thoughts? 3) Everything is great till your cub cadet tractor has ANY issues. Cub Cadet has the WORST warranty customer service on the planet. You can check their records. They never pick up calls on purpose. They will do NOTHING for you and brush you off one way or another despite still being on their full warranty. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.
ordering mine tomorrow thanks for the review almost bought a John deer luckily something happened with my credit card when I was at store funny how things work
Tool Review Zone well I’ve mowed twice and I love it. Turning radios and ease of speed control is great. I installed the mulching kit and it does so well I don’t see any clippings in the wake of the tractor. I believe I made the right choices with my purchase and looking forward to not giving money to someone else to mow my lawn which is so easy to do myself with this tractor.
I have a new craftsman 46-in in my buddy bought the 42-in Cub cadet the Cub cadet is better built tractor has two steering arms up to the steering mechanism where craftmans only has one ! The intelli power is nice option also! More expensive than Craftsman but you get what you pay for!
I purchased the CC with the 46 inch deck in the XT1 Enduro Series. It has the same engine with a fabricated deck. It does not have the intellipower though. I just keep it about three thirds throttle when mowing and when I hit a wet thick batch of grass, I physically crank it to full throttle. With 40 hours on it and two mowing seasons, it performs flawlessly and takes a third less gasoline then my other mower with the Kawi engine in 48 inch cut.
Just buy a model without the intellipower garbage. That electronic throttle isn't going to perform like they pretend it does. A manual throttle cable will perform flawlessly for decades, that electronic junk will be a continual trouble spot. Basically they replaced your throttle with a computer to decide what power you should have...or not have, sounds cool till it all goes haywire and can't be fixed....stick to the manual throttle controls for sure. Also, that intellipower engine is a piece of crap Chinese engine, avoid it and get one with the Kohler you'll thank yourself.
I love this tractor, I used one on my father's grass when I was younger (like 50 years ago) but then I used John Deere, last year when Deere was on strike I moved to cub cadet I as I said it's fantastic. Just wanted to let you know.🤠
Wow this is the best video I've seen explaining the mower. I just got mine on Tuesday and didn't quite understand how the Intellipower feature worked. Oddly enough, it's not included in the instructions.
So I went to pick mine up yesterday, and started the machine, It was very loud and sounded like it was trying to run on CHOKE. ( all my older tractors had a mechanical throttle lever ) this new one has the Intellipower Control. As It started, it was spitting and sputtering, and as I was turning the knob, there was no difference. I felt that something was wrong , so I had to leave it there until a mechanic has another look at it. Quite disappointed, and I'm sure it will be rectified. Do you have any idea what it may be ? Great video thanks.
Hi, just purchased the XT1LT42 with IntelliPower. Yes as someone mentioned more things to go wrong.. IMHO more good things to make this chore more enjoyable. My question what is the optimum height for the ANTI scalp wheels? I wish they had put 4 on.. what ever. QUESTION: Why is their only 1 bolt on the back of the seat (see it at 2:15 of your video.) Puzzling. Secondly, is a MULCH cover really needed? I bought extreme MULCHING blades but passed on their kit. TIA.
@@shawnengles8771 Thx for responding... I have the NEW mulch blades coming. Looking forward to seeing how much better they cut with the stock blades that came with the machine, Stay Healthy and safe.
WHILE WATCHING THIS I LITERALLY, GOT A TEXT SAYING MINE WOULD BE DELIVERED ON TODAY 46 INCH GREATTTT I WAS EXPECTING IT LATER THIS WEEK SO I GUESS THE BLACKCAT THAT RAN IN FRONT OF ME WHILE DRIVING ON THE 13TH WAS GOOD LUCK LOL GOOD REVIEW
Just received my new mower and its my very first time using a riding mower period. Looking forward to doing so. Gathering all the info I can about it before I begin. Still have not completely uncrated it yet. I'm doing this all by my little ol' lonesome, sooooo...😒😕😋
I found one of these on Facebook for $1200 with 40 hours on it. All cub cadets are sold out right now new in my area. What do you think about this deal? How’s yours holding up?
Mine still runs amazing. That's actually not a bad deal really for only 40 hours. I'd try to offer them 1k and see what they say, but it'd a great mower
I am looking at these now. It looks like some of them no longer have Kholer engines in them. They have cub cadet engines that were designed in the US and made in China. Does anyone have any experience with these engines and are they as reliable as the Kholers?
Great video.. I just bought one today. Actually, they just delivered it 5mins ago.. Havent used it yet was trying to figure it out.. I have NEVER had a rider before, thanks for this video... I cant wait to use it on my new home lawn(1acre)...
Tested it out today. It’s really nice. Easy to use drives great. Lots of cutting power. Let the wife drive it. She likes it. Now looks like I’ll be using the weed eater while she rides.
Is it suppose to "coast" when you let off the pedal? My old CC didnt and when the transmission was engaged it wouldn't move at all when you pushed it .You really did a fantastic review. You should send to Cub Cadet.
Thanks so much Rick for the awesome comment my friend. When you let of the gas, it does come to a stop just like to mentioned. I don't think I've ever used the brakes on my Cubs. Welcome to the channel Rick!!!!
What about larger models or zero turns? I need something for taller grass and acreage . We get a lot of rain and property holds water for a long time and end up with tall grass and weeds sometimes up to 3-4 feet because you cannot mow you will get stuck? I was think of one of the 50 plus deck size zero turns?
Tool Review Zone I just purchased one and couldn’t be more happier with the overall performance, and also the look of my yard. However, with some cold nights here in Indiana lately, it has hesitated to start a couple times, being in the shed. Was looking for the choke after it acted up a little
I'm torn between this & the Craftsman T210 Turn Tight. They both make the same power I think although Cub Cadet has more cc. My problem is besides preferring red which I know is petty. The craftsman has a 5" turning radius compared to this Cub Cadets 16". Damnit I need both turning radius & be able to go through thick wet goatheads & wild grass with ease. I can't find anyone comparing both either, please if you know someone who's bought that craftsman. Do an actual mowing drag race & see which cuts quicker, factoring cub cadets turning handicap.
What's up Mike. The two most popular mowers in my area in Ohio is Cub and Husqvarna. Not sure why, but I almost never see anyone with a Craftsman. I owned one years ago, but that was when they were sold at Sears and couldn't even buy the replacement blades in the store. Sorry I cant help more
@@ToolReviewZone I missed a deal on a 21 horse Husqvarna last week. Seat was trash but it was only $600. Sold so fast I never had chance to ask how many hours were on it. Oddly the lady wanted 1k for a similar but lower powered craftsman just because it had a nicer seat.
Excellent review. I just bought this mower and had a few questions about it's use and it was covered well and all it's features. Thanks again and can't wait to put this mower to work.
what cc's or hp is yours because the ones I see this year say 547cc's ad that can be any where from 17 to 19 hp .I am thinking of buying another cub cadet so I can make mowing faster for me .Right now I have a troy built and it is as slow as a turtle and turning it is horrible .I am glad you made this video as it helps me see what this intellipower stuff means
Possibly let some air out of the tires because from factory they put way too much in, so you should get a softer ride. I believe another guys channel said he put 14 pounds in tires.
Does mowing in reverse mode hurt the mower? I don’t want to keep hitting the button every time. I know you can disconnect it but not really looking to do that.
62 hrs and mine took a crap. Ran fine last time used then I was surprised with black smoke and ran like a stuck choke. Dealer noticed exhaust leak at the engine gasket. Gasket is backordered. I found one on Ebay and gave it to them. New gasket, cleaned plug and air filter and all better now. Hard to believe an exhaust gasket leak took it out of commission
How well built is the deck to the pulley? My older sears mower just broke ( corroded)around the hole where the bolt goes through to hold the two together.
looks great but not sure about the reverse I have to do a lot of backing up as I have a lot of trees some I can't get between, Plus it would be nice if they went to an 11 ga. deck . One of the problems with my John Deer was where the castings for the blades attached to the deck bent and the blades were no longer cutting flat. I was looking at the Cub "o" turns but to wide to get in a lot of places and some places just to hilly, around the trees.
I have a ltx1042kw and love it except for the oil change outlet .I have 4 wheels on the deck and hate that they went back to 2 wheels .I love the glove box I have and yes do love the side grip handles .I love my clothe seat because it is cooler and you do not slip back and forth on it .I hate that they put the gas gage window on the side because mine faces me so I can see it .So far I have resealed the ohv valve cover and changed deck and drive belts and oil ,air and gas filters 2 times a year sometimes 3 times .I also bought the gator blades for mine 3 years ago and what a great investment they were ,I just had to change the PTO cable also Cheaply made thing as it is .I have 222 hours on my 2016 model and I have 3 acres with the front yard being a hill .But I do have problems there because ziosa grass is very slippery .On wet grass I have found that shoot gets clogged .I solved that by drilling a hole in the shoot and putting a wire through it and bringing the wire up and looping it around the grab handles on the mower and this way I can lower it when I want too or keep it raised
If it says Kohler on the engine, then it's a US made Kohler engine. If the engine says Cub Cadet, then it's a rebranded Chinese no name engine. Maybe not a bad thing, some of these engines last a long time, but are essentially throw away and replace engines. Not worth fixing in many cases.
Got mine today. OK, I started the mower, but why doesn't good forward or reverse? I step on the Pedal for forward or reverse, But it doesn't move. WHY?
I have been running my Cub Cadet Enduro XT1 42 on the Power Cut setting. Today, it hit two hours of use and the RPMs fell to what would have been somewhere between the Transport and Cut Settings. I was still able to finish the lawn without issue as my grass is not very high or thick, but it was noticeably slower and quieter. Does Intellipower have intelligent learning?
Hey Dave. No intelligent learning feature, but what you could have noticed is the motor cycling down a bit as it didn't need as much power. I also notice mine will rev higher when in taller grass then settle back down.
@@ToolReviewZone Thanks for the reply. I have a small lawn with a consistent rate of growth so it's just odd that halfway through mowing and exactly when it hit 2 hours of use, that it dialed down on RPMs. It's still adequate for mowing my lawn, but it's not as fast and I can't zip around the yard anymore.... leaving beer holder use as being the only fun thing remaining about mowing.
@@DaveBuildsIt Hmm, yeah something does not seem right. I can still crank mine up and run it fast when the knob is turned all the way to the right. May want to give them a call and let them know.
What key setting do I use when I start mowing? There is a green section and a middle one. A guy at the store said you move the key to the middle when mowing.
I grew up with using an old fashioned walk behind push mower and am looking at the LT42 rider-seriously! Am hoping you have a "walk behind" grass clipper, for purchase, I want that as well! Doug🤓👍
I live in a trailer park, i can make 2 passes on one side of my trailer and 1 pass on the other.. I am never gonna walk my lawn again come Monday when my XT1 42 inch shows up !
The mower does fine, but the tires do not. They tend to slip an even dry grass on steeper slopes. I upgraded to some better tires. MaxAuto ATV Tires 20X9.50-8 20X9.5X8 Riding Mower Turf Tires on Amazon These do great and don't tear up grass when turning very much. Will take any hill you have.
Curious if anyone can answer my question here. I found this mower on a few sites (HD, Lowe's), and there's a regular throttle version, and then the intellipower. The intellipower is $200 cheaper, yet I can't find ANY difference between the two mowers. I feel like I'm missing something. Any ideas? Coming from my late father's HDS 2135 38" which is nearing 300 hours. (1998 model!)
Darn it, Dom! No parking on the lawn! Good thing he laid marks gettin outta there! 🤣 Awesome and thorough review, Clint. Btw, surely you sprayed herbicide after mowing to kill off those dandelions, right? 🤔 Thanks, stay healthy, and God bless! 😁👍

You'll love it Evan. Let me know bro👊
My kids got me one for fathers day, it seems like a great mower.
Mine has nothing but problems... Cub Cadet had to send me a new one... and this one has problems too
Can you still get a tractor with a regular throttle lever? Does the xt2 have the intellipower?
I cant be 100% sure, but I am guessing that if it's the Intellipower, it will probably come with a knob like this
@@ToolReviewZone ok Thanks!
( all my older tractors had a mechanical throttle lever ) this new one has the Intellipower
Control.
TIA.
I bought the mulch kit just for the fact that i wont have to rake leaves this fall lol
@@shawnengles8771 Thx for responding... I have the NEW mulch blades coming. Looking forward to seeing how much better they cut with the stock blades that came with the machine, Stay Healthy and safe.
the motor is made in china
WHILE WATCHING THIS I LITERALLY, GOT A TEXT SAYING MINE WOULD BE DELIVERED ON TODAY 46 INCH GREATTTT I WAS EXPECTING IT LATER THIS WEEK SO I GUESS THE BLACKCAT THAT RAN IN FRONT OF ME WHILE DRIVING ON THE 13TH WAS GOOD LUCK LOL GOOD REVIEW
Haha. Let me know how you like it!
My Scott's 1642 just finally died (close to 17 years of faithful service!) and this might be my next one.
Great video.. I just bought one today. Actually, they just delivered it 5mins ago.. Havent used it yet was trying to figure it out.. I have NEVER had a rider before, thanks for this video... I cant wait to use it on my new home lawn(1acre)...
Awesome and congrats Gym! You'll really like it!!!!
does this have to be wide open everytime mow the grass with it intellipower switch
Just got one today. Can’t wait to use
It's awesome Patrick. Let me know how you like it
Tested it out today. It’s really nice. Easy to use drives great. Lots of cutting power. Let the wife drive it. She likes it. Now looks like I’ll be using the weed eater while she rides.
It’s great, I bought a 2020 thx for the review 👍🏻
Great video. You mentioned that the mower is rated for an acre and a half. What happens if you mowed three acres?
Ou could do it no problem, but would just take you a little longer 👊
Is it suppose to "coast" when you let off the pedal? My old CC didnt and when the transmission was engaged it wouldn't move at all when you pushed it .You really did a fantastic review. You should send to Cub Cadet.
Oh yeah you gained a subscriber too!!!
Is there no choke on this model?
No
Tool Review Zone I just purchased one and couldn’t be more happier with the overall performance, and also the look of my yard. However, with some cold nights here in Indiana lately, it has hesitated to start a couple times, being in the shed. Was looking for the choke after it acted up a little
@@unclened6394 no choke because it's EFI.
Thanks again and can't wait to put this mower to work.
hi i am planning to buy the XT1 LT42 model with the Cab Cadet IntelliPower engine. How is your machine going 4 years now?
what cc's or hp is yours because the ones I see this year say 547cc's ad that can be any where from 17 to 19 hp .I am thinking of buying another cub cadet so I can make mowing faster for me .Right now I have a troy built and it is as slow as a turtle and turning it is horrible .I am glad you made this video as it helps me see what this intellipower stuff means
Great review man! You sold me on this mower. One 1/4 acre at a time! Get R Done!!! 😎
Thanks Anthony 👊
I have a cubcadet 1529 series lawn mower its a older style mower I have has it almost 4 yrs now and I'm actually getting a new cubcadet mower today
Ive heard that the cub cadet engine is bad, what do you guys say?
Hi brother....great review on the cub cadet...very honest info & you are funny!....I want one!....take care!
What's up Thomas!!! Thanks so much for the awesome comment brother!!😀
I was on the fence about this model, after your review I’m going for it!!
Nope. Once you hit it, it stays engaged
Hard to believe an exhaust gasket leak took it out of commission
man, what a great review!
Thanks Zepleon!!!
Lmfao love the fast and furious charger segment 😂
Haha thanks my bro👊
How well built is the deck to the pulley? My older sears mower just broke ( corroded)around the hole where the bolt goes through to hold the two together.
Clean your deck regularly and the deck won’t rust as fast
Great video. I am buying a XT2 in the spring.
I bought a 2019 XT2 42 inch with the 22hp Kohler 7000 series. I haven't encountered any grass that will bog it down.
looks great but not sure about the reverse I have to do a lot of backing up as I have a lot of trees some I can't get between, Plus it would be nice if they went to an 11 ga. deck . One of the problems with my John Deer was where the castings for the blades attached to the deck bent and the blades were no longer cutting flat. I was looking at the Cub "o" turns but to wide to get in a lot of places and some places just to hilly, around the trees.
Hey Hildton, ince you engage the reverse it will stay. You won't need to do that every time
What should you do if your IntelliPower does not take the engine above the idle speed?
So who makes they engine for cub cadet. Been trying to find out. Probably on the label on the engine.
I have 4 acres up in the hills work or I need stronger ? ( I will cut 2 time x year and I have 2 horses that help ) My zip 30540
Thank you
Thankiuu !
Just bought one today !! Nice review.
Awesome, hope you like it!!!
Got mine today. OK, I started the mower, but why doesn't good forward or reverse? I step on the Pedal for forward or reverse, But it doesn't move. WHY?
There is a metal pull pin in the back of the mower (just above the ball hitch area) that is probably pulled out. Push it in and it should work
what's the fastest lawnmower I can buy for drag racing?
Buy a dirt bike goofy
Can you put a snow plow on this model?
Yep💪
Is this available in canada yet?
If you want to engage mow in reverse after it's running turn the key to the middle and push the button
I grew up with using an old fashioned walk behind push mower and am looking at the LT42 rider-seriously! Am hoping you have a "walk behind" grass clipper, for purchase, I want that as well! Doug🤓👍
I wish I had a yard big enough for a lawn mower that size you would definitely the Envy of the block
I live in a trailer park, i can make 2 passes on one side of my trailer and 1 pass on the other.. I am never gonna walk my lawn again come Monday when my XT1 42 inch shows up !
No yard is too small for a riding mower when you're lazy.
is this mower good on hills?
Yep
The mower does fine, but the tires do not. They tend to slip an even dry grass on steeper slopes. I upgraded to some better tires.
MaxAuto ATV Tires 20X9.50-8 20X9.5X8 Riding Mower Turf Tires on Amazon
These do great and don't tear up grass when turning very much. Will take any hill you have.
So what's the retail price for one of these bad boys?
I put a link in the description. They $1,699, but they always have a $100 off sale
That bit at 8:27 was hilarious 🤣
Haha, thanks Imhymm
Curious if anyone can answer my question here. I found this mower on a few sites (HD, Lowe's), and there's a regular throttle version, and then the intellipower. The intellipower is $200 cheaper, yet I can't find ANY difference between the two mowers. I feel like I'm missing something. Any ideas?
Coming from my late father's HDS 2135 38" which is nearing 300 hours. (1998 model!)
when you use the washout port it works 100 times better if you set the deck on the lowest setting
All this talk of slice and dice is making me hungry!
Dear Sir
How do I change the oil pump on aKawasaki FH661V ? Can an guy with basic skills attempt it?
Kind regards
Stephen
I have one and I loved
Intellipower?
Darn it, Dom! No parking on the lawn! Good thing he laid marks gettin outta there! 🤣 Awesome and thorough review, Clint. Btw, surely you sprayed herbicide after mowing to kill off those dandelions, right? 🤔 Thanks, stay healthy, and God bless! 😁👍
Those damn weeds bro! I just laid LESCO down last week and they started shooting up. Time to have those kids go out and pick those out!
How many keys come with this mower?
2
That mower is fast
