  • Make a replica of Lush's aurora borealis body scrub bar - a super simple project that yields amazing results. The colors are bright & cheery and the scrub is amazing. Once activated the scrub turns into a light & fluffy cloud that gently exfoliates & cleanses skin. And it's also a body wash!
    RECIPE: 30 grams baking soda, 15 grams citric acid, 15 grams SLSa - sodium lauryl sulfoacetate, 30 grams coconut milk powder, & 150 grams exfoliate; 100 grams of sugar & 50 grams of Epsom salt (for additional exfoliation). Sieve dry ingredients together & add exfoliant. Mix everything together well. Divide batch & add color powder now because later you'll be racing against the clock. WET: 45 grams (small uniform pieces) melt & pour soap base, 23 grams butter (I used Illipe butter but use any butter that you have!), 23 grams emulsifying wax. Melt ingredients on lowest heat setting. Once melted, add 15 grams fragrance oil & mix. Immediately add wet ingredients to dry. Knead & squeeze mixture between fingers. Use parchment paper & flatten the first color into a loose rectangle shape. Layer the rest of the colors on top each other, flattening each one. Next, roll the dough into a log shape. Lift the paper up & roll the dough in on itself. Squeeze the dough with each turn & make the log as compact as possible. Cut the log into slices that fill your mold. Fill mold & pack it thoroughly so the bar. Remove excess mix & make the surface flat. Scrub should stay warm, soft, & malleable when molding, but if it cools & starts to set up, microwave for 5 second intervals. Allow the bars to cool & harden a couple hours. I just left mine overnight. I don’t recommend freezing the bars (it may cause them to sweat afterwards & this is not good), but if you have to, flash freeze them 5-10 minutes. Then unmold the bars & let them sit out at room temperature for several hours. During this time they may sweat a little & get a little sticky, but they should eventually go back to normal. **It may even be better to chill them in the fridge for 5 minutes, rather than the freezer.**
    ****UPDATE: Add a color stabilizer, especially if using a scent containing vanilla! 5 days after making them they've started to oxidize & are turning darker!****

    I checked the comments but maybe I missed it. Can you sub goat milk powder for the coconut? Also, have you ever tried adding polysorbate 80 or does this not stain your bathtub?

    I tried these last night, they are amazing! However, I used an oval mould and they stuck. I tried flash freezing but one woked. I did have some activation because of humidify.
    Any tips on how to unmold them?

    You are just freaking awesome! I just came across your channel and im binge watching your videos. Thank you for sharing every single bit of information and all details! Not too many that actually do this, they won't share details like this unless you pay them a monthly fee or something crazy like that (gate keeping, I believe is what it's called). I'm so glad I found you! I'm ready to get things purchased and make some bubbles!🫧🛁🧼

    Hi, Dora, this looks amazing i can't wait to make it, as usual you always make the best products thank you. I was wondering do the wet ingredients when liquid get divided up equally in the different colours or did you just eyeball it? x

    • @CreativeBathLab
      @CreativeBathLab  Рік тому +1

      Both. I make sure each bowl gets at least 20 grams of liquid then sort of eyeball the rest from there.

    Hey i have a question, is it okay to replace SlSa with SlS

    • @CreativeBathLab
      @CreativeBathLab  Рік тому

      Lots of people would say no. I say YES. SLS is a bit harsher on skin but if you look at ingredients in any item in your bathroom you're more than likely to find it. *** Please research these 2 items & form your own opinion.
