- Celebrating the wonderful Doris Hare, mum in the three classic On the Buses films and most of the TV series too. In the video, On the Buses star, Reg Varney is joined by actors Stephen Lewis, Anna Karen and Andria Lawrence, writers Ronalds Chesney and Wolfe, Hammer Runners Brian Reynolds and Phil Campbell, On the Buses Fan Club organiser Steve Luxton and film historian Morris Bright MBE.
These interviews are part of our recent feature length documentary On the Buses at the Movies that celebrates the 50th anniversaries of the classic British comedy film series, On the Buses, Mutiny on the Buses and Holiday On the Buses. The documentary goes behind the scenes, looks at the making of the films and reflects on the their enduring appeal.
Special thanks to Morris Bright MBE for allowing us access to his archive interviews with Anna, Reg, Stephen, Roy and the two Ronnies that were recorded in 2002.
Hope you enjoy it. - Розваги
I think this video is exactly what UA-cam was invented for ..thank you for posting it.
Reg Varney said she was a great mum. They were like a real family. I loved doris hare’s acting. So natural. Loved the whole bunch lots ! I still watch on the buses on youtube.
Mabel Butler (mum) was a brilliant character. She really kept the family together and was a key part of the show.
Reg Varney was born in 1916 so he was almost in his mid 50s when the series began in 1968. Doris Hare, who played Mabel Butler, was born in 1905 and was just 11 years older than
Reg Varney, when she played his mum.
What a fantastic history of so many talented people. So sad to know that many of them are not with us today. I believe that they began in 1968 - London was still swinging when they filmed the first TV series. Modern History can be so fascinating.
I really did accept Doris Hare as Stan and Olives mum. Amazing woman and acting skills.
on the buses is as close to a play as you will find on tv especially when they are eating at the table with real food.
Great fun show that will never come again sadly.
More excellent content thanks for sharing. Such a great group of people, wish you could rewind time.....
my fave is jack and😍 stan butler
Really enjoying this series, thank you.
Stan butler was actually aged 50 in real life playing a 30+guy. Reg Anna and Bob grant were my favs. Would love Doris to be my neighbour
Reg Varney was actually 53 when he started playing Stan. As far as I know, Stan was supposed to be in his early 40s.
@@StephanieLaerkeAndersen from what I read on google he was actually 50 when he started playing Stan

In that case, if my arithmetic is accurate, he was born in 1916 - hard to believe that he was that old when he started to become well-known to the general public. Show business is a funny occupation - sometimes it breaks people.
Yes, in fact in real life there was only an 11yr age gap between Doris and Reg. Doris being born in 1905 and Reg 1916. They platonically loved each other dearly in real life too 💙💖
Doris Hare was born and grew up in Bargoed (Bar-goyd), a former mining town in South Wales, near Caerphilly and Cardiff. I filmed the whole of Bargoed Town centre if you want to see to town where she lived check out the video on my channel.
I'll do just that
@@lindarowe8550 Thank you, please comment on my home town and Doris's birth place. She was born in Factory Road, Bargoed, under Bargoed viaduct in 1905, She lived in Bargoed until she was seven years old. She began performing and the rest is history.
Andria Lawrence - Major crush alert !!

I was in London when Anna Karin died and I was shocked and on the buses Olive she had sexy xxx legs and sadly missed x xx
I thought Doris Hare was something of a Googie Withers lookalike.
my favourites are jack and blakey :) not keen on mum and stan they seemed very selfish especially stan he was too big headed. reg was like that in real life as well my uncle knew and worked with him. . olive was so sweet really arthur had his funny moments :)
I preferred the original mum Cicely
